There was a young man running the front desk. It was busy, he was trying but you could tell he was overwhelmed. We had our 26’ truck fully loaded towed to their parking lot. We were told by traffic that we could back up that truck (with a blown front wheel cylinder) to the back of another 26’ truck in the parking lot and transfer the load with the help of Movers Help. The young man in the store told me he would come out and find a spot for me to do this. I waited nearly 20 minutes. I had to go in and find him to tell him that I was still there waiting for him. He told me to find “anywhere you want” to do this in the parking lot. The guy working in the yard was friendly at first but as soon as I asked him where would be the best place for me to do this he was visibly annoyed by me. I simply suggested that if he was to move one trailer from a spot we would have ample room to transfer the load while being out of his way. He pointed to the trailer dolly and said in a very miserable tone “there’s the dolly, if you want it moved, move it!” I reminded him that this situation was not my fault and he said “I am to busy for this shit” and walked away. So we ended up behind there garbage dumpster with 2 26’ trucks back together, in the 30 degree hot sun next to a stinking dumpster spend the next 3 hours emptying and reloading the entire contents of the truck. Movers help. We were asked when we were being towed to the Oshawa location what the contents of our truck was. I was told that movers help was bringing 3-4 people to help transfer the load. A car pulled up and a very nice man Named Omar introduced himself. He was dressed too nice to be work clothes. Then 2 other young men got out of the car. Omar was very, very, well mannered. He then brought the 2 young men to the truck, introduced them to us amd told them that we would tell them what to do. Omar helped for about 10 minutes then told us he “unfortunately had some meeting to attend” me having a bad knee, my brother who was travelling with us had already loaded that truck got not much sleep and had already been tired from travelling Niagara to help us with the move, and my step father who has recently had a knee replacement were told we would not have to help only supervise, were now watching these 2 young men stare at the load and were clearly overwhelmed by it. After 20 minutes of watching this we knew either we were going to have to help or we would not be getting back on the road that day. So we all jumped in the truck and got things moving finally. The 2 young men pushed themselves to keep up with us but they did work very hard and we got it finished. Omar arrived as we were getting ready to leave extremely apologetic, he put on a façade of empathy. But it was clear he wasn’t intending on helping from the beginning. The first truck we rented was at 1/2 a tank when we picked it up. I filled it and was towed in with 3/4 of a tank. I was told I would be compensated at the end destination (Truro, NS) for this. The second truck after I filled up for the last time in Amherst, NS I noticed it was a little sluggish to start but it fired up and ran good. We got to my home in Nova Scotia and unloaded the truck. The truck then sat for a couple days. I live in the woods, it is extremely dark here at night there is no way a light could have been left on in the truck without us seeing. And the truck was parked directly out my bedroom window. And the light that is for in the box of the truck is on a timer so it is impossible to leave it on for an extended period. The day before I brought the truck back. I was going to pull in ahead to give it a sweep out and get any remaining garbage out. The truck barely started. The battery clearly had not been fully charged. I let it idle for 20+ minutes to charge the battery. Later that day I went to start it to park it and it didn’t start. I have trucks, I’ve driven large trucks, I’ve worked on large trucks. I am knowledgeable with vehicles. I had to boost the truck using my truck. Moved it and again let it idle for 20+ minutes again the next morning I was to bring the truck to Truro so I got up went outside to start the truck and again click click click no start. I boosted the truck again and drove it to your Truro location. When I arrived I shut the truck off and when the yard guy went in to check how much fuel was in it. The battery was so dead. He literally couldn’t see how much gas was in the truck. I explained to them what it happened and now the battery clearly wasn’t charging. They agreed that there was clearly something wrong with the alternator or something preventing the truck from charging itself. This was only a small inconvenience and didn’t even really bother me until later when I was explaining to traffic everything that I went to they begin to argue with me on whether there was anything wrong with the second truck that there was no documentation of their being something wrong with the battery that when I picked it up, it was a fine truck everything past inspections but then they said the only thing we heard about the truck from the Truro location was that the battery was dead and that possibly I might’ve just left a light on overnight and I began to tell him that I had to drive that truck that morning from my house 45 minutes down the highway to the Truro location and a drive that long at highway speed that battery should’ve been nearly fully charged, but it was so dead that wouldn’t turn the key to accessory the dash didn’t even light up. It was something that was so minor in the grand scheme of my entire trip and the troubles we had to argue with me about it and make it my fault seemed asinine.

The staff were great both on pickup and drop off. I have zero complaints about them. There has to be a better way to checking people in. There is always a lineup and it seems to take forever to get through the line. I have learned to arrive 45min before I am expecting to pick up the trailer. Please come up with some way to allowing customers to check in online to pickup a trailer and not have to wait in the line. You already have to upload ID and payment information. Just have the person outside verify the ID and then hook up the trailer. I don't see the issue here.

Though there was only one guy working the trailer area, he was knowledgeable, efficient and courteous. Would have been nice if the guy in the office at the computer helped him out a bit more. We waited for almost 45 minutes to do the return. Good thing we weren’t in a hurry. Overall it was easy to book online.

If a customer is picking up a rental vehicle hey should be able to leave their personal vehicle there. Also, if you say the vehicle is half full, make sure it actually is half full!!!

Rented only forbidtwo hours time with 10 KM distance, I had to pay $69/ plus $10 on fuel. It is too much & and not price competitive as compared to an other nearest alternative within one & half KM i.e Home Depot which is cheaper with much more flexibility on timeline. Thanks

Generally a great location with helpful staff. The trailer I initially took has some unusual break issues, so I called back and they had me come back and get a trailer that's breaks were working well. Super helpful in taking care of the issue and made it effortless on all stages of the process from booking through the App to checkin, exchange to address the issue, and return. All of the staff at this location that I have dealt with have been very good and helpful. I would highly recommend this location.

Well first of all I booked the Uhaul at one location and when I went to pick it up they sent me to a different location. When I went to the other location they did not have the Uhaul I booked even though I had a reservation and they gave if go someone. Did not inform me call me or anything. I was moving houses and that was last day to move out. Uhaul as a company was found to be very unreliable and pathetic customer service.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after multiple visits to this location, I felt compelled to share my experience. Every time I have rented from this U-Haul location, the customer service has been consistently poor. On my most recent visit, within about 20 minutes, I witnessed staff getting into arguments not only with me but also with three other customers. That says a lot about how customers are being treated. The staff behind the counter come across as rude, dismissive, and impatient. There is no courtesy, no "please" or "thank you," and little to no effort to explain the rental process or answer questions. It often feels as though customers are an inconvenience rather than the reason the business exists. I understand that customer-facing jobs can be stressful, and everyone has difficult days. However, when the same experience happens repeatedly over multiple visits, it points to a larger issue with the culture at this location rather than a one-off bad day. I'm not writing this because I expect my review alone to change anything. I'm writing it in the hope that management takes the feedback seriously and invests in improving the customer experience. A little professionalism, patience, and basic courtesy would go a long way.

Trailer you gave me had no tongue lift, the natural tongue weight of trailer made it 2 person job to remove trailer from vehicle. Very inconvenient. I saw when dropping unit off 2 other trailers of similar size with no tongue lift. I had to use trailer beside mine & maneuver its tongue under trailer I rented, use its tongue lift to lift my trailer off the hitch ball. Otherwise would have had to vehicles spare tire jack to get it off hitch Other then that it was fine. I had rental reservation for this trailer at Belleville Parker st location with pickup time at 3:30pm day before, didn’t arrive until 4:40 (which was within the allow pickup time slots, 4:45 being last pickup time at this location) but when I arrived the store was closed which is why I ended up renting it from Taunton Rd location Taunton Rd location, the last time I rented from them 2 months ago they doubled book the car hauler I had confirmed rental for and decided it was me that would NOT get their rental. That was second time this location double booked car hauler leaving me with no rental. You’ve got a computerized booking system and you still double book. What the heck…

Vehicle overcrowding. No proper place to park. At one point couldn't get into the area. Vehicles parked all the way to the road. No light in storage area. Some staff too friendly in an inappropriate way, not professional. Whole area should be cleaned, trailers moved.

Add 1 month free for one way trailer haul as reason for storage. Add light in the unit. Add more parking. Space is filled with trucks. Remove trailers behind so people can drive around. Add a ramp to the dolly area doors. Remove unecessary uploading of dl via text link. Advertise / let people know emergency address and phone number is needed. Let people know disc lock is mandatory (incl picture, cost) Mention online check gets a free disc lock ahead of time instead of storage for one month. People should know. Mention ON uhaul lock packaging locks cannot be used for storage locks etc.

Cody was efficient and calm, the computer system wasn't working in our favor, there was a line up behind us, Cody stayed calm and thorough, there wasn't a moment I felt like he was cutting corners or rushing through the process to get to the line of people. That takes skill. At the end of a moving day in December, Cody was exactly what we needed.

My experience with the customer service representative UHAUL, an individual asian guy was nothing short of appalling. His behavior was not only unprofessional but also exhibited a deliberate disregard for my time and well-being. Initially, he requested a code from me and then insisted on selling me a lock, claiming that it was mandatory. Despite my repeated explanations that I was in a hurry and that my wife was not feeling well, he wasted over an hour of my time, seemingly without concern for the urgency of my situation. His actions felt intentional, as if he was deliberately hindering me. At the end of this frustrating ordeal, when I reviewed the charges, I was shocked to see an inflated sum of $333. Upon questioning the reason for such an exorbitant amount, he tried to adjust the figure, but by then, my trust had already been shattered. This was the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. I couldn’t shake the feeling that the representative’s behavior was not only unprofessional but also racially biased. It was an extremely disheartening and unpleasant experience, one that I would not wish upon anyone. Thanks

Shoutout to the amazing Rez at 47 Industrial Road—he was super helpful in getting us set up and on the road smoothly to our destination in Oshawa. One of the very best UHAUL in Durham facility I’ve ever rent I would recommend hundred percent to anybody who is looking to store their stuff. The staff here are great. They will assist you in every way they can to help expedite the process. The manager Victoria she’s really great and helpful withe a smile. in fact when I needed to access after hours and I don’t have the code right, they put me to an on call Manager on-call and Vic assist me in a quick response to get my storage. The thing also i like about this facility is there’s no elevator waiting time, sonyoundont have to waste time going up and down. and also there is a like a courtesy cart that you can use to move your stuff. Everyone was helpful! My only complaint is the unit doors need replaced! Very hard to open and close. The door to the inside unit needs a better door jam(?) You needed to add something to keep the door open.

The entire place was packed with men (5) waiting in line . I was the only female . The customer service rep was extremely nice to the man ahead of me , answering all of his questions and spending lots of time . Once I got to the front , he was so rude and short and just telling me where to sign and not caring about anything I asked . I felt rushed and brushed off and it annoyed me so much . The storage unit was great for accessibility when needed and was a good price for something that was needed quickly. The only thing was there was no light for the particular unit I rented so was a little difficult to see inside the rented storage unit. But for the price and wonderful help from staff it was definitely worth it. Thank you so much, a life was saved.

Arrived after hours so no option to speak to anyone, so had to do this all through the mobile check in. No lock with the unit, though I was told there was one. Luckily I brought my lock from my other storage unit so it worked out nicely. Would have been a huge pain if I didn't bring my lock. When returning the truck we almost dropped the keys in the key drop without reading the notice above the key drop, asking us to take pictures of the truck. There was no light on this area so we almost missed this VERY important/required step of the truck return process (this was about 11PM, so very dark). Please install a light so we can see this signage before keys are accidentally dropped.

I use the storage unit for 6 years. In all that time I had only issues in the beginning with my automatic payment. It did take some time but they were resolved because of the diligence of the staff there. I did not choose to pay the extra fee to access my unit after 5 p.m. I felt the fees were high enough that that should be included. Like I said staff was great head office mediocre. I would recommend this storage site Thank you

I had to through away a lot of my things because there was evidence that there was rats in my storage unit. I have pictures. I reported it to the staff Saturday March 19th, 2022. And no one has contacted me about it at all. I need to be re-embursed for all the stuff that I've lost. For a company that's been around so long and that is so popular, I expected better.

I make a reservation two weeks in advance for a 26 foot truck. They didn't have any 26 foot so I ended up with a 20 ft that I got from Whitby. I am moving out of a 5 bedroom house and that was very inconvenient as we have to make multiple trips which takes longer. On top of that I rented a storage and was denied access at mins after 7pm. I called customer service they can't help. I got the managers number no answer. I am still stuck at m house with the truck full of my stuff because no access to the storage that I paid for.very disappointed 😒 😑 😔and I have to close the deal on my house today November 1st at 11:30, still stuck with a truck load in the driveway and I am not finish moving my stuff because of this. Big blow to my head I'm very stress . Thanks uhaul for bringing my stress level up.

She didn’t hesitate and helped me! I was so grateful for her help. She was friendly and gave me excellent customer service, along with the other gentleman who helped unhitch my trailer and inspect the truck. The Taunton rd location is a very clean, organized, friendly, team oriented place!! Very pleased with the overall experience!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Unhappy with the Storage unit access system, Payed extra to access my storage 24/7 but still wouldn’t let me get to my storage after hours, Happened twice and had traveled from over 250kms away to access the storage with rental vans but with no help from either the customer service nor the manager, I was given a 50$ gift card which is nothing compared to my loss for renting the vans and the inconvenience of travel. THERE IS NO AFTER HOUR SERVICE.

I called this location prior to booking the storage unit to confirm that I would qualify for the first month free and was told I would if I presented a reservation number for my uhaul truck rental. I also called the Ajax location prior to, as that one was closer to me, but they confirmed they aren’t running this promotion so I booked with this location instead. When I showed up at the counter to check-in I was declined the one month free and was told to pay the first month immediately. I had no choice as I was paying movers by the hour and we had already showed up at the location! So I paid but I will be putting in a complaint with head office and the better business bureau. Also, upon moving into the storage facility, I witnessed another storage unit owner going through their unit and laughing as a mouse ran out of one of the boxes. The storage unit was packed with junk so it comes as no surprise it would be harbouring rodents! The staff and condition of this uhaul storage facility are one in the same - below average!

The lock was not in the unit as the instructions noted, but I made a quick trip to the office and the associate there was happy to help. All around, the service was quick and the associate was very courteous.

I booked on line and got the confirmation number as well for 15 x 10 x 8 storage starting January 1st 2021 but when I went on January 2nd to move my items, girl at the desk said that it’s not available and offered me 10 x 10 x 8 and she said that is the only available. There was no other choice for me and had to store some of my items in my friends grage. Very disappointed.

Very expensive compared to other places. Only took it for the free month plus the fact all the other places were closed for the holiday weekend. It was also convenient as I had to return the truck. It took forever to do the paperwork though considering I had done it on the phone when I reserved it. Thank God the staff was absolutely phenomenal which made it a bit better

This was the worse uhaul service I have ever received being a long time valued Uhaul customer. Brendon the staff at Oshawa location was not helpful but extremely rude. Even after having reserved a 10x15 storage at Oshawa location two weeks in advance of Apr 16, 2020, the Oshawa location did not have a unit. I had to go back and forth 1.5 hours due to Brandons incompetency. Furthermore, he insulted us in front of the other customers and kicked us out of the store. I will be escalating this to the top of Uhaul and cbc news channel. Additionally, this is the last time I'm doing business with Uhaul. I'll be also advising friends and family to not conduct business with any Uhaul location. Myself as a valued customer expects to be treated with respect but this was not the case especially at a time like this during the covid-19.

There were crack users and meth dealers in the halls, people sleeping by my unit. This place was terrifying and no security. The company (a guy who worked there even found it amusing) he laughed and said ya look at all the crackheads..... I'm shocked and disappointed by this. I will wait 2 weeks before sending my video viral for the world to see as well as my 50000 followers for items and places I review. I paid a lot of money for a unit I couldn't access. My unit was broken into despite being sold a lock that " no one could breach" When I was called to be informed of this break in, i was told that my unit door was open and the unit was empty, the caller said " I assume you or a member of your family has emptied the unit". I told him that was not the case; he was not helpful. Only later did I learn that my unit was not emptied by thieves.

I have just rented a storage unit from Uhaul on Taunton Rd, Oshawa and so far have had excellent service. The only thing I was disappointed in was that I couldn't use my own lock which I had 2 of.
