The Uhaul was clean but, it rained during our trip and the roof leaked in two areas (one in each side of truck) which soaked our belongings, including two mattresses. It collected and It filled some of our drawer container packed with belongings with water.

Even though I had explained the person a the counter about what I had chosen. member dismissed what I told them and continued to tell me that it shows the full amount. So I figured that I will be refunded upon drop-off, but that wasn't the case. I still haven't been able to get my money back $122.

Overall the pickup and trip went smooth we arrived safe to Texas, cuddles to there Amazing team work at that location and excellent customer service.
Yanci S.This experience almost could not have been worse. I am so unbelievably disappointed in Uhaul overall, and this Uhaul in particular. I called Uhaul at least 7 times over the 2 prior days before my appointment to discuss logistics of my rental, my credit card on file, the details/logistics of my movers picking up the trucks in my absence (I am out of state and they were driving the trucks for me), etc. At no point did a single person discuss with me about my rentals not being available the next day. In fact, one of my rentals were delayed initially for 1.5 hours, and the only way I found that out was I happened to be on the phone the day prior and a representative noticed the delay. I was perplexed why someone can extend a reservation with a KNOWN RESERVATION immediately after them. But at the time, it was only 1.5 hours, and I was told there was zero recourse. So I accepted it, and accepted the fact that I would be paying my movers for the extra 1.5 hours since they were scheduled to come at 7am (they were from out of town and were already at a hotel for the night. I could not change our agreement then). The following morning, aka the day of the move, is where everything fell apart. I was told by both my family member present and the movers that the representative at the front desk was unbelievably rude and was dismissive, simply stating the fine print said I was not guaranteed anything essentially. Both of my trucks were no longer available, and it was now almost 2 hours after when my original reservation was scheduled for. After significant frustration on both parts, we were told we would have to downgrade to a 20 foot truck and attach a trailer to the back instead of a 26 foot truck (the volume is not equivalent for these as well). And, it was located 25 miles north, through a major tunnel. While this was being arranged, luckily the first 26 foot truck that was extended by the previous reservation holder showed up, around 1 hour late. This truck luckily was given to us, but was not cleaned out, and a black tarry substance was located in the bed of the truck. This was tracked all throughout our home, and we had to urgently buy a carpet cleaner machine to get it out for the new owners. After paying my movers for time that they were not moving (4 movers at $220/hr from 7am until 10:30am when they were finally able to start moving), the kicker is they could not fit all of my things in the smaller concocted truck. I had to rent ANOTHER trailer the following weekend, drive back up to my previous home 200+ miles away, then drive it back home, incurring another $60 trailer fee and around $180 gas fee, because Uhaul was unable to honor the original reservation. I hold them accountable, am so completely bummed, feel taken advantage of, and disappointed. I have had previous good experiences with Uhaul (in fact I have used them several times without issue) but the disregard for my interests, and the very poor customer service on both the service lines and in person location noted here have really soured my experience.
Sam O.I underestimated the volume of my move so had to stop part-way and swap for larger trailer. The staff helped greatly and I did a quick swap and finished my move out on time.
Robert C.The original order was to pick up a 20' at this location. I was called night before and told I had to pick up in Suffolk. Morning of reservation, arrived at Suffolk to be told truck not available but we could go to Portsmouth for truck. Got to Portsmouth and truck smelled like pot and no keys. Then sent back to Va Beach where original order was for and given a smaller 15' truck that did not fit all my stuff. No discount offered for all the inconveniences and having to run from town to town and having to figure out how to move the items that didn't fit in the truck because of the downsize. VERY disappointed and will not recommend for future use.

He said we were supposed to have returned it at 10 a.m. although we checked it out at 9 a.m., and I kept telling him my reservation was until noon. He said he'd been calling me and the alternate phone number that was left. I had received no such phone call. Obviously, he had my reservation mistaken with another person's. He said he wouldn't charge me for it as a favor, but was insistent that I was still in the wrong because I was a “good customer.†I've used U-Haul and this location for all of my moves and truck rentals in the past. But this was my last time.

Kalea G.I had very bad experience with uhaul. They kept changing prices. Then they canceled my uhaul without advising me! Then I go back n forth for days. The night before my rental they called and stated oh we need to change locations the person didn't bring the rental back! I stated this is crazy. So I go all the way to VB and they tell me oh my rental is $455 not $111 as I was told! Then he stated well you can't get the truck. So I called uhaul after going all the way home. And she stated you should have the truck so after 2 hours she says go back and get the truck you should be ok! This was the worse experience ever! I don't recommend uhaul to anyone!

It would be very helpful if the truck had a place to set my iPhone but there is really no place to set the iPhone so I could See it while it's charging and it's not immediately fall to the ground. My cupholder wasn't very good either. While driving my coffee vibrated out of the cup holder and spilled on the ground. This sings might be a little they add up. I think it's nice to have your phone in navigate and a hot cup of coffee when you're traveling across the country. Please add a cupholder and a place to set my iPhone.

Whenever I needed access to my ubox I was able to get to it after giving them a 24-hr notice and when I needed a ubox trailer on the busy weekend of 4th of July, they were able to find one to provide. From front counter to opening the garages so I could access my ubox, to placing a trailer on my car, to removing the trailer - EVERYTHING was smooth, quick, easy, and stress-free! I am grateful for this U-Haul location and the kindness I received from the people that work there! They work hard and it is noticed and appreciated! THANK YOU!! I will definitely be using this location in the future!
Jennifer B.When my reservation was first moved to this location, after having already been moved from the location I originally chose, I called the store to figure out what was going on. I was upset due to it being moved so many times plus it being moved 30 min away to a different city. The lady I spoke with on the phone was rude and condescending and hung up on me when I asked her to stop giving me an attitude. Worst overall UHaul experience I have ever had.

Both times the elevator has been broken and when you have a 2nd floor unit this is inconvenient. Also, we now cannot get our BBQ out for the Fourth Of July and we have an appliance to retrieve (Freezer) after our move-in. Both items cannot be carried downstairs. It has been told to us that the repairman is scheduled for "Sometime next week".

You guys have done an excellent job in picking the best staff. They are all funny, engaging and helpful. I'm sorry I can't remember names but last 2 interactions stand out the most. The first lady (she has a nose ring) was so kind and sweet helping me after I lost my key card. The second lady (I believe she had teal highlights) who helped me get my truck checked me and another guy out at the same time, can you say skills and efficiency, she was also kind and hilarious. I'm sorry in you helpfulness you got left with the 2nd coffee option. #EXCELLENTMOVINGDAY If I'm ever in need of a storage unit again I'll definitely choose your facility and I'll always recommend.

He said he would have to see it, but he had other customers to take care of. My movers broke the seal to enter the locker. The roll up door started falling off the roller. Very dangerous! Another 30 min wait to get another storage locker…the “last one available”…and it had a padlock on it. Back to find someone to remove the padlock. Wound up paying movers an extra $250 for overtime due to storage unit problems and waiting at counter for help. Other storage unit is $15 more, also. Really not happy.

JOHN W. | First ImpressionsEverything went pretty well except for the fact that the guy at the desk handed me my access card when I first checked in for my reservation, he said just use this later when you want to put your stuff into storage and you'll be able to get in. I went to go drop my stuff later (around 10PM) when they were closed, and it said access denied you have to check in first. I looked around for directions and it said you have to check in at the alarm system station which was right next to it. I try to swipe it there and it still says access denied. Needless to say, they didn't really give me good instructions for after hours. I tried to call the number that said for "after hours only" and they didn't answer. Just a heads up, nothing crazy. I just dropped my stuff off the next day when they were open, and dropped the truck off right after. Easy day.
