I have had extremely positive experience with Ben who took the extra time and effort to fix wiring after hours to get me going next morning. Phones at my storage facility are always forwarded, can't speak to anyone on time, contract was not forwarded to me, can't set up auto pay, half of the staff i speak with in person or on the phone are good, the other half have a bad attitude and are not knowledgeable or helpful. The truck itself was poorly maintained and made â€œclunkingâ€ noises while driving. There were no straps to rent, and none were included in the truck. Finally, the location itself was not safe for COVID. The service desks were in a dead-end pathway, such that after talking to the staff member, you had to walk past every other person in line. Multiple staff members, including ones handling the trucks and talking to us in the parking lot,, wore their masks on their chin only, exposing their mouth and nose.MEGAN A.

Let customer know where to drop the Keys after hours when closed. What time they close. I rented a cargo Van Uhaul. At that time i didn't know what time they closed when I rented the Van. It was 5 hours before they closed. Never was told where drop box keys was. And what time they closed. I was lost at the Uhaul parking lot. I left the Van parked with keys left inside the Van. There was on gentleman that was very helpful another gentleman was very rude and he didnt seem to want to do his job.we were not informed of the milage fee staying the same no matter the day we tried 2 to 3 times to pay on bill they wouldnt take the money my card got screwed up in the system my wifes card didnt work either the rude one almost demanded we bring diffrent card oh and before all that when we first got there to pay on bill and they looked me up he rudley said we were lucky we stopped in because they were about to report it stollen and we had called in everyday we needed extra time.plus wouldnt let us pay on the bill so by not letting us pay on bill because card didnt work we ended up spending more on gas milage then was needed im very discusted with the lack of information attitude by the employee threat of arrest me and my wife are both disabled and suffer from severe stress and anxiety and depression this experience has just made me and my wifes stress level increase i feel cheated and was treated rudely im seriously thinking of consulting a attorney for the mental stress this has caused us we live on a fixed income and that bill was outrageous your employees need better training and customers need to be more informed of what you will be billed and them refusing to let me pay on the bill was just wrong i will be calling corprate office on mondayPaul P.

It's my first time using Uhaul box and I was a bit skeptical after reading the Uhaul reviews. But overall Uhaul made my moving out of state a really great experience. Customer service always helped to answer all of my questions. What was even better was that my Ubox arrived 5 days earlier than what was schedule. All my items arrived the same way I packed them in the box. Nothing shifted. Would definitely use Uhaul Ubox again for moving assistance in the future.Sandra Y.

There should be some way to rent a truck for a shorter time period than a full day. I paid for a 10' truck for the price for one day even though I only used it for an hour. The price I paid was still relatively reasonable, but it is frustrating to have to pay the full $19.95 when you have the truck for a fraction of the time.MEGAN C.

I was told the gas gage was not accurate on the uhaul I rented and that I needed to fill it up before returning. I only put 10 miles on the uhaul and had to put $20 worth of gas in. In my opinion, this is unfair.MEGAN C.

Your person-to-person experience is top notch. Your website and on-line reservation/check-in is atrocious. Will never use it again. And the frustration apparent on your employee's face tells me this isn't the first time this has occurred. There is nothing straightforward or intuitive about it. If it wasn't for your employees, I'd take my business to another rental company. Don't underestimate my opinion of your on-line presence. It's as bad as it gets.ROBERT G.

When I made my reservation I had added 1 dozen furniture pads. In the past the pads were ready in the truck. I left only to find they were not. I had to come back and the associate told me I should have picked them up on the way out the door. How am I supposed to know that if I'm not told? So I picked up a bag and it turns out there are only 6 pads in a bag. The associate never told me to pick up two bags! Then he sold me a lock which did not have a long enough shank to lock the back of the truck! I asked him if he was sure it would fit but it did not. It turned out to be the kind that's appropriate for a storage locker. All in all, a lot of hassle and aggravation. I didn't go back about the lock because I couldn't waste more time and instead used one from home.Kendra G.

Overall a good experience, but a few issues that need to be addressed: Pickup: Another employee working the counter told the gentlemen helping me just to give me the keys and find the truck myself, just because there was one or two people waiting behind me. Pickup was scheduled for 7am which I was there for and other people rolled in shortly after. There were others available to help the other customers and thankfully the gentlemen helping me insisted on showing me where the truck was. The truck itself: Someone left a cup of coffee or something in the cab and was completely frozen when I got in. Just goes to show the truck wasn't actually cleaned between rentals. Secondly, the headlights barely worked so driving in the dark on unlit highways (with a load and to the return) was dangerous. Return/Drop-off: This is where I bring most my issue--I was in the lot at 6:50p when the location closed at 7p so I was cutting it a bit close. When I walked in, there were two or three employees working and one quickly dismissed me to go "return the truck myself" stating that the rental return was closed...but there were still people working and there was nothing posted about "return rental hours". I took this as extremely poor customer service and sheer laziness of the guy who "greeted" me at the door. Not to mention I ended up having issues with the website to complete the return, but eventually worked.matthew B.

Something that would have made this a perfect rental; I actually needed the tow dolly the night before, after hours. What I wish is that there was a way to get an item after office hours, If you could do EVERYTHING online and either get a code or password to unlock or retrieve the item you wish to rent. Even if, due to the convenience and lack of employee to inspect the item, one had to accept full liability and release U-Haul of responsibility.Robert H.

1-initially you gave me a unit on second or third floor. I’m 50, I can’t hall a couch and chair up 2 flights and down a very long hallway. I asked for a closer one and there was one available. Thank goodness. But why did I have to ask. Person should have recognized my lack of muscle power 2- my card never worked after hours 3- when closing account, I was in a hurry as I rented a pick up truck and I was being charged. Your person was in the bathroom for a very long time and there was nobody at the check out desks. I was waiting 5 plus minutes. Thankfully Menards didn’t charge me the 10 minutes I went over for the truck rental. And my card didn’t work picking up my stuff and your person was very slow walking to let me in. My only issue was that it said it was a first floor split level. So it’s on a second floor and had to climb stairs. I didn’t realize that. But we were taking stuff out of our unit during access hours when no one was there and accidentally locked our keys/key card inside the building. With the low employment rate, better employees could be found. Are you under-staffed, or is every one in the break room? Do you pay them a living wage? In any case there seems to be very poor moral. Ok, the puddle in the back of the truck wasn't water, it was motor oil. I cleaned that mess up. And, are the key cards not activated? Alarms going off everywhere. An employee said don't worry. The U-Haul website does not make it clear that reserving a unit online only saves some basic information to your account. Reserving a unit online does not guarantee that they will have that unit available for the dates you selected. My "15 minute" check-in took one hour... and I was at the front of the line. Storage facility met our needs. My only issue is we paid for the last months rent and only used the storage unit for one week of the last month. Monthly rent should be prorated when that happens. I asked the local place and they said to call U-Haul. I called U-Haul, and they said to check with the local place. I have now been told that the rental contracts don’t state that. I didn't appreciate the lack of not being notified about the water leakage. You can send me emails and charge me late fees but not one notice of a water leak. Clothes and furniture got damaged. I reserved a unit online on Monday and went in on Wednesday, the date I'd chosen to start my lease, only to be told that the unit had already been rented. What's the point of reserving a unit if the reservation doesn't mean anything? Why even bother having that feature on the website? The location was what I was looking for and the staff were helpful and patient with my frustration so I rented a similar unit upstairs but not having the original unit I signed up for was a big disappointment. Generally happy with it. While the facility is well lit, the storage unit itself is not and since we had a unit at the end, it was very dark, thus requiring us to bring a light in on each visit. The hours for access is also inconsistent with signs. You think you can access it anytime with the key card but that only opens certain doors and outer doors are locked. The unit has a mouse trap and there's definitely some rat droppings when we moved out. On our last day to move out, our unit was locked as if we did not pay the rent and we did. Someone locked my unit within two weeks of rental. I was on a deadline to move out of my house and this caused a significant delay because none of the staff could find the key to remove the lock. I’ve experienced long wait times when contacting the office, as well as long waits in the office despite there being an abundance of employees in circulation.
