Thomas Btruck was clean and find with some damage to front bumper. Otherwise looked ok. Staff was very good, attentive and helpful. So I would give excellent to them. Main problem was the engine performance. it was very slow in acceleration even when empty. I rented the same type of u-haul truck previously, so I can compare. I didn't care beacuse I drove the truck only few mile in the city. But I wouldn't trust it on a long tip. I would recommend this location if the engine issues are addressed. It may have been just this one truck.

Molly WBULLET POINT LIST: -Incompetent front desk staff (scheduled me an in-town truck when I was moving out of state, then her manager, Lawana, asked ME to return the truck when I already had it half loaded, like no this isn't my issue to resolve as the customer). Yes, she was a new hire but if your job is to schedule reservations you need to know what to do and what not to do and clearly, she didn't know this basic part of renting the trucks out. -Unwilling to work with me to fix their problem. Since I had already loaded the (wrong) truck it wasn't possible with my travel plans to take time out of my morning to go return their truck to them. I proposed that they drive to my location (less than ten minutes away) and assist with swapping out my possessions from one truck to another. The initial response was that they "don't do that" but then Lawana said yes, we can do that and swap trucks out. So, after I am told one thing, about 45 minutes goes by and there still aren't any guys with a truck at my house so I call them back and they say oh it's fine just keep that truck...like are you kidding me? It was only AFTER I drove the (in-town) truck to my location several states away and dropped it off that the U-Haul rep at that location told me that the in-town trucks are designated as such because they aren't intended to go on longer trips! So, their resolution was to just let me drive an unsafe truck because they were too lazy and incompetent to work with me and provide a safe truck and move my possessions to a new truck. Utterly unacceptable. -Changed my initial reservation from this location to some other random location in an EXTREMELY unsafe part of Saint Louis, which they then changed back to the Kingshighway location after I called and said it was unacceptable (but only after a lot of back and forth on the phone). So, this was before the issues noted above even came up the next morning with the truck mix-up, just to be clear at the multi-level inconvenience this location caused me over two days. -The manager, Lawana, actually had the gall to hangup on me at one point on the phone while trying to coordinate how to fix their screwup, which is completely unacceptable to do to a customer. I had said I wanted to lodge a complaint and talk to her manager and the response was to "talk to the corporate/regional office" then *click* she hung-up on me. Then, a day goes by, and I get a call from whoever her manager is and the proposed resolution to all of this was to give me $50 off of my reservation...like wow thanks. -I will NEVER rent from this location again and I highly advise that you don't rent from them either. Save yourself the time and trouble and go out to the county somewhere to get one instead.

For climate controlled and being able to see daylight is not my definition of climate controlled. You were helpful but the representation of dimensions by UHaul corporate)or franchisee)is awful.

Tom T | Overall ExperienceRashod (sp?) was a HORRIBLE representative. That guy WANTED to fight with someone and he picked me. There was no yelling or blaming on my part. The transaction needed to be resolved and it was taking a few minutes. He jumped on the chance to escalate and get nasty, accusing me of not being calm and trying to start something. This was not the situation of a Karen throwing a fit, but he treated me like that, further sniping that he was not to be messed with, when nobody was trying to mess with him. That was an implicit threat. That is how he treats a paying customer and a stranger. I fear for what his female boss and any women in his personal life experience. He should not be ANYWHERE near the public. Ever. What a creep. I don’t know if his boss is afraid of him, but she said nothing about his behavior. She did not step up and take over. She did not send him elsewhere in the facility away from me. I had to finish out my rental transaction in his presence. Lastly, this location is in a bad place. It is on a busy, fast-moving, dangerous road, and it’s difficult to get into and get out of, let alone in a moving van. The blankets I went to, or wet, and I was refunded accordingly. The van I rented was not available, and I was given a larger van at the same price as my reservation, but it shows that this location is poorly managed, and does not have enough resources for the amount of clientele it gets.
Leslie GI double checked with attendant if I needed to put more gas in it to avoid charges after putting 5 dollars in and only driving 12 miles and was told I was fine and not to worry then hit with almost 50 bucks worth of gas on my card after I left....

Fred G | First ImpressionsThere are 3 UHaul locations on Kingshighway. I went to 1639 S Kingshighway first but was told that returning our truck there would cost extra. I called our rental location in Columbia and the sales clerk was SO helpful. He advised correctly and I went to the 2101 location a couple blocks down and I asked to return the vehicle .THIS representative (and owner) was able to make it happen so that we did not have to bring it across town of St. Louis to drop off. She was very professional and knew the correct contacts to make because the Columbia representative had included a note in my contract that I was undecided on dropoff location at the time of rental.
carol fAfter hours truck pickup was very easy. Truck return process was fast and efficient. My only complaint is that I paid for two dollies but only one was in the truck.

alexia j | Overall ExperienceLet me say this first I pick this unit and this location because I felt like it would be safe and I also felt like it was a professional environment and the area that was it was in that was a choice of why pick this particular location I literally move my stuff from Illinois to Missouri because the cop, Vance of knowing that I will be in a safe space, but that was not the case . Upon arrival, I noticed that the maintenance man was standing in front of the building at the shed where all the equipment is after checking into my unit and receiving my key, I drive around to my unit, unload my truck with two carts, and up to the second floor, I go, So as I was exiting the elevators the same maintenance guy from the front of the building is standing by my unit asking me if I want help instantly I’m afraid and feeling violated and vulnerable. I just knew I was going to get raped or injured. I noticed he has a broom in his hand and a dustpan with a handle on it and starts walking towards me. I have two carts of belongings, clothes, etc. to put in my unit and I have to walk right past this man, he tells me he’s 35 years old and he asked me my name smile and continue to walk past him. As he also continues to ask me if I want help. I tell him no he walks back towards me as I’m going towards my storage unit. He tells me that he has a job there and he has another job. I say that’s nice I’m afraid so I’m really trying not to say much to this guy, he says when I saw you come in and I was like wow you are so beautiful so I had to make sure I come up here and holler at you. I’ll try not to say the wrong things because it this point he’s creepy and I’m afraid for my life so I have to be careful and try to navigate out of this situation where I felt I was in a blind spot because he was smart enough to be behind the cameras where my unit is located he asked me a question I ignored him he says, did you hear me or ask me what in an aggressive way and I try not to give him any type of reaction just kind of smiled and said not too many things the crazy part when I looked up, I realize he had come up to the emergency door to get to my storage unit that was on the second floor and then I really was afraid so I managed to get around him he walks past me spots sweeping the carpet and he says again what’s your name? I say Anna he says oh I thought it was Nicole or something like that so obviously at this point, I’m even more &!really afraid because now I’ve realized he has seen my information off the computer of when I had just signed up for the unit . Stay cautious of the grounds keeper/maintenance guy. His intentions are bad. . He is creepy I was afraid for my life. There was no cameras where he was standing. It was a blind spot where my unit is and I’m afraid to go back to even get my clothes out of that unit I don’t know what to do and I’m afraid. No cameras I’m the elevator either. It was like being in a horror movie you get off the elevator in a strange man, standing all the way at the end of the hallway with a dust pan with a handle and a broom in his hand right next to the unit that you’re about to rent as I entered the elevator to exit the building. All I could feel like is once this elevator close, just as in a horror movie, his hands are going to stop the elevator from closing and he’s going to jump in the elevator and assault me stab me or kill me because there are no cameras and I’m sure this man knows the grounds inside and out. I was the only person moving at that time there were no other customers and this man knew that. something needs to be done and I’m very upset and will be seeking advice in the situation. please be careful young ladies single moms all women any woman do not go there by yourself

Friendly, helpful and I’d definitely recommend using this facility for my belongings again. There was a break in the first time I used it and my belongings were still there and they took care of the problem immediately. I also have used U-Haul in wyoming and again they’re extremely clean, helpful, and convenient!

ALEXANDER KTruck had an error message, staff was not great at pickup nor return. No one was at the desk at all for quite a while upon returning truck. Brakes were very loud and in obvious need of repair.
Derek HI originally scheduled to return the truck after 1 day. I called a helpline, and after some struggle in communication, got the tech to move the return date and time two days out (she would read back her rehearsed "OK sir you will now return it on the 23rd...and I would have to correct her each time to say...no, that is why I am calling, to move the return date, that is the wrong date". After that waste of time, I show up to pick it up and it rang up for $380 for an in-town rental, 20'' truck for 2 days. Despite being within 30 miles of the pickup, the online booking was making it a "one way trip". The manager of the store insisted that whatever it recommends during online booking, is the cheapest. I pushed her to find a way to lower it, return to the same location...blah blah blah. After more of my time was wasted...it was quoted for the normal and fair price. What an absolute struggle. Please pay and train your employees, and do not reach out acting like you would like to help or remedy my poor experience. If you want my money, fix this, do not reach out pretending to be concerned. I have been clear in this review. If you do reach out, and ignore this message, and waste more of my time, I will spam the internet with this poor experience. I will be looking to rent trucks elsewhere next time.

Help and not being able to rent a truck with my debit card to which is how my job pays it so not accepted but I have the money on it to cover the rental and deposit off the hundred so that I can utilize everything U Haul can offer it's customers. Thank you for your time. But other then that I rate you at the highest.

I've used Uhaul's in all the states I've lived in as an adult which include California Texas Florida Missouri in Colorado. This U-Haul I'm currently at really does far surpass even a good experiences that I've had at the other Uhaul's. They really do try to be as gentle and accommodating as possible even when dealing with problems. I really am very fond of this place, and Christine Sykes the new manager has proven to be not only a very organized and logical person, but also able to fully understand the hardships that some of us experience in life, and respond in a really human, kind, and caring manner. Thank you Uhaul and Christine. Oh and the other gal that I've dealt with on the phone several times I can't wait to meet because she again far surpasses what you would expect in a business setting. I believe her name is Lawanda, and I'm sure I misspelled that and I apologize.

The U-Haul app is horrible. A map to your unit location should be in the app. Also the whole check in process on the app is terrible and I still had to go into the store to get the gate code. They both served me well but, if I ever need to rent another, I would rent the climate controlled option for most possessions. Having the extra protection from moisture and extreme temperatures is comforting. Recently, Christina helped me with truck rentals as well as closing out my spaces. She was knowledgeable, patient and fun to work with. I like the location of this facility. Nestled on The Hill, it feels safe yet conveniently placed at S. Kingshighway, south of Highway 44.

This same person has 2 cars parked illegally in front of his unit which partially block the alley between the buildings. Later when I moved in, this person had numerous “sketchy” people coming and going from his cars and storage units as apparently he is running a business there (dealing drugs?) or actually lives at the storage facility. There was another running car parked nearby with people coming and going from his unit also. Have all these people been given the gate code? They all watched me loading some expensive items into my unit and I am stressed about them breaking in. This situation is not secure and I regret using your facility. He and his crew should be evicted as his business is not worth the security risk. I will be glad when I can get my stuff out of there. If you do evict him, please don’t connect this complaint to me in any way as I fear he may do harm to me or my belongings.
