Bruce NahinThe trailer felt unsafe, squireley, it was the worst I have ever rented from U-Haul. The trailer made the worst noises- it jumped up and down. I pull a 19’ airstream with my car all the time but never felt like this awful trailer given to me. U-Haul needs to do better! I would recommend a 3” hitch, not 2”. Way too much play in the hitch.,unsafe in my opinion. So thankful we made the 400 plus miles without incident. Never again U-Haul. Train your employees better to be safer.

That was annoying using the App to input all the information and pictures. Everyone is not electronic users. 5 other people in the location was very angry also. They weren't told either. Also, the inside truck was dirty.

Maria RuizTried calling over an issue and no one answered the phone I was just immediately transferred to a central office for U-Haul who said that we had to contact the local office so it was more than half an hour of trying to get someone to give us a straight answer. Then upon returning the vehicle the customer service was sub-par but that was the same guy that was cursing at another customer earlier. Won’t return to this location ever again.

There were 3 of us all trying to complete the process at the location. It took us all about 30 minutes to navigate process which was very frustrating. The return process was easy.
Douglas WebsterThis wasnt my original location. My original drop off point was at MB Auto 6108 W Pico Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90035 United States. I dropped off my truck a day early and they could not take the truck as no one was there. They then recommended I go to a location that doesn't fit my truck and I drive around LA. Looking for a location I can drop my truck off. Cant find it. So i beg for a parking space and luck out in getting one in another location for the night. I take the truck to MB Auto again. The cashier uses fowl language. He looks at the truck like he has no space on his lot and says “fuck it, bring it in” I park try to drop off the keys. He still looks distraught at having to host the truck. And makes a call to uhaul that doesn't pick up. He wont take the truck as he says someone probably wont pick it up for awhile. He asks me to drive it to the obama blvd location. Im sick of his attitude at this point and I drive it to the Obama Boulevard location myself. Please revoke the MB Autos location permission to do business with you. The job is to receive trucks. Not to complain about receiving the truck and have the customer drive it somewhere else.
Austin MoeweThe Uhaul located on 1836 Arapahoe st LA CA 90006 has had the elevator down since October 2023. Walk in mid January thinking it should be fixed by now, but they were still down. Had to get a storage unit further away with a higher rates because of this. Poor experience

The photo i took was blurry when they tried to look at it. The agent said it is the compression of the file in the system. I drove only 19 miles but had to pay for 33. This never happened before. You should check this issue

We barely made it to a gas station, which made moving take longer than needed. Then the battery died after everything was loaded. Thankfully someone was able to get to us to completely change the battery and help within 40 mins, but what was supposed to take a few hours moving a small apartment took forever.

U-haul MUST provide their workers with an updated system and the employees deserve pay increases to compensate them for the great service they are giving during terrible conditions. Do better for your employees.

peter robertsThe app didn't work so I had to have someone at the store help with completing my reservation. In the afternoon while bringing the truck back the app again did not work. The were at least 15 trucks trying to check in / return at the same time. No one was there to help or direct traffic on the property. It was a complete mess… U-Haul associates were pissed off and not happy with the situation. This didn’t help the situation. Go back to having humans check you in and out. It’s a better customer service experience.

Jacquline WollPlease get rid of the app reservation system. I prefer talking with the people in store. It was absolutely horrendous trying to navigate the app to start my reservation. I had already done all of the hard work at home, including the check-in, and had to redo everything because I could not verify a single piece of information. I rely on the people at U-Haul to help me figure out a lot of what I need and that human connection is Extremely important. no app can help me with questions that I have about Moving and the size of the trucks and how to hook up a trailer. We will always need someone there to talk to us if you want us to rent with you.

Diana MartinezPlease make sure the Van's truck whatever it is that the customers are renting that everything is working, clean and the tank is full. My experience on Saturday January 6 2024 was HORRIBLE! I was given a dirty half of tank van that had mechanical problems. Switch Van's and the tank was on E. (EMPTY) All this made me late to where I needed it to be. Not to mention I had made reservations a day before and the day of , I was there to pick up the van an hour earlier. This was the worst day. As a balloon artist I do need to rent the Van's but after this situation I rather go to a different location. And they still haven't refunded the gas money smh!

Haley PattersonReturning the equipment after hours was a little unsettling. I followed the directions and I didn't have any internet, but parked the truck and left the keys. I was worried and I could not communicate with anyone. But all worked out they sent me the receipt before I went down there to put closure to my bill. Take away, please add a phone number for questions or make it bigger and bolder so customers can see it.

There was no staff member in the area so we went inside the store. We waited inside for 20 minutes and still no staff member. There were several customers waiting to be helped inside the store with no staff member in sight. We went back outside to wait near the truck and eventually (about 5 more minutes) and staff member came and took the keys and walked away. He didn’t say if anything else was needed. We asked if there was anything else he needed and he said no. No receipt was provided. We called the 1-800 number to find out when we’d get the receipt.

donald lyonsThe staff was very nice and quick with getting us set up. But make sure when you return the truck after hours to have a copy of your receipt for filling up the tank and picture of the gas gauge. The morning after I returned my rental I saw an extreme amount of charges for gas...I filled the tank before returning the truck. I called customer service and explained this to a woman who was very dismissive claiming they have a picture of the tank being completely on empty and said 'there was nothing they could do if I didn't have a receipt, cause I obviously didn't fill the tank.' So I had to get up, call my bank to find out the time and amount for the charge, go to the gas station I was at the night before, have them find and print it, go back to U-Haul location...the employees there fixed it with no issues and tell me they have problems with people sneaking in at night and siphoning gas out of the trucks and they don't know until someone like me comes through having had to do all this run around. It seems like corporate is failing this location. They need to do something to increase security at this location or fix their attitudes and hurdles for their customers being affected by known issues they can't help the location fix.

The staff working on the weekend were unprofessional- they were talking about personal issues while taking extremely too long to help customers. One employee had personal hygiene that was so bad their nails were caked with dirt underneath and left a greasy thumbprint on my credit card. They asked me to walk all the back to my unit to take photos using my personal phone and then walk back and show them the photos before terminating the lease of my unit.

Once I was inside the rental truck I read a sign saying FIRST MONTH FREE ON 1 WAY MOVE!! So I could've saved $135 had he told me that!!!! Kevin Johnson | First ImpressionsDespite ringing phones and several customers ahead of us upon our arrival, the lone employee, Stephen, acknowledged our presence and greeted us with a smile. In what would have been a challenging situation for most, he did an exemplary job of holding his frame with positivity as he efficiently interacted with each customer and maintained situational awareness of the retail floor. He took a phone call from a woman that was behind on her bill and worried about losing her belongings. He was empathetic to her situation and kind to her, being mindful to take her off of speaker phone at the appropriate time so her personal information wasn't overheard by other customers. He summoned Andrew (also friendly and helpful- whom I assumed was the manager), to assist another customer with a past due issue, privately. My daughter had reserved a unit the week prior, but we realized was too small for her needs thanks to the sample units in the retail area. I had made a secondary reservation for a pickup truck for a few hours when I realized how many trips we'd have to make otherwise. When it was our turn, Stephen took time to ask questions and, based on our answers, he modified the duration on the truck to a full day. Boy, were we ever grateful for his insight on that! Moving is always stressful, but his attention to detail allowed us breathing room to complete the process mindfully with intention. Next, he handled the modification to the storage unit reservation and walked us to her unit, ensuring that the process for access was clearly understood. As an employee, Stephen is a renter with an owners mentality. That is a rare quality these days. Treat him well and your business will continue to shine.

I had to ask a few times after getting sarcastic non-answers before he actually confirmed where the entrance was. Poor customer service overall. However, the other woman working seemed to be more helpful and friendly. Getting to my unit was fine. The elevator was very slow and the fire alarm kept going off, but other than that everything went smoothly. I was also supposed to get the one month free deal, but my online checkin process didn’t allow for this and my customer service experience was so uncomfortable that I didn’t even bother asking about it. I was really pleased that the move-in date was so flexible and the app was very user-friendly.

I am very upset because we came all the from Vegas to but our stuff in storage we got there at 4:00p.m and didn’t get a temporary storage until 7:00p.m and didn’t leave until 8:40p.m

AURA DODGE | Overall ExperienceFirst of all I didn’t know this particular location was a “day care” as well as a business. It took me almost half an hour to rent the biggest unit available on the 1st of March because the assistant manager (although friendly initially ) had to stop every 5 minutes between trying to multi task with other customers after me and telling her kids to go sit down in the back , like we were at a daycare. But I’m an easy going guy so I didn’t make a big deal of it because I hadn’t hired the professional movers at that time. But when I went to move my stuff with the hired professional movers I didn’t expect to have to wait almost half an hour to get the elevator to work just to find a lock on my unit I paid for and I would have to wait nearly another half an hour just to get another assigned because they didn’t make sure the unit was available in the system and that’s a problem. The 3 hours of my time wasted (between the commute , faulty card and codes to the elevators , and unprofessional demeanor of the assistant manager who was more concerned with ringing up new customers then finding solutions to my Problem was unimaginable. Even though It would appear they are short handed they had 5 days (I booked around the 1st and I went to move my stuff in on the 6th) To verify so they aren’t wasting paying customers time and money. Even my professional movers that I was paying 125 a hour had to admit this is a very unprofessional establishment and it was their recommendation to go to public storage, which although about a mile further the professionalism and speed of service was “night and day well worth it” and I’d drive to another city if I have to in order to avoid this type of nonsense that cost me 375 dollars not including what I paid uhaul for the rent of the unit. I wish I had read the reviews on this location but I definitely intend to express my experience on the same platforms so that people can avoid the headache i went through. I will Never do business here again but if this matter isn’t addressed in an amicable manner I intend to not only contact my lawyers but, all my 50,000 professional business contacts as well as ad my experience to help which is my civic duty so they can avoid the headache as well.

Some of the office staff is rude (have an attitude)/unprofessional/not friendly & not trained to properly help customers, lack of knowledge. The truck rented yesterday had not been cleaned on the inside. The units are overpriced.

I was put unconscious, door was unlocked and my genitalia was reduced. Of course the only witness that I would have is a camera pointed at the door to catch the person who "unlocked the restroom door from outside. Then came into the restroom after me.
ALZAMIL YAMATAZU | First Impressions9 years ago I swore never to use this company again. my mistake trying to forgive. we returned to site by 5:45pm and just needed the front desk to finalize our storage rental move-in (b/c it could not be completed online) so that we could transfer the contents of our rented van and return said van. at about 6:50 i was with the staff rep who tried multiple times to find the reservation, despite having my reserv #, name, phone #, and confirmation email in front of him. i asked if we should just start a new one as long as i could cancel the one he couldnt find without being charged. he said he "thought probably that might work." I restated that i had not been charged yet but didnt want to end up being charged for the current one as well. he said he didn't know and then finally by 10 minutes later he asked the neighboring coworker why it wasn't pulling up. turns out he wasn't on the right subsection of the system. i don't know if it was his first day but somehow he had no idea how to navigate the process and we only kept moving forward by me saying, ok i think you should click the plus sign next to my name, etc. the coworker was initially with another customer so i get why he couldnt come over but then he watched this guy struggle with us long after that guest left and decided just to mop the floors while our rep would occasionally call out with a question. i was clear from the second i stepped up (5:50) that i needed to return the truck before the 7pm close. i was polite but assertive more than once in pointing out that the time had become pressing. at 6:15, he was still struggling to complete the steps. and then he closed things out and spent 3 minutes trying to circle our unit # on the map, but he was looking for 0027 (which doesn't exist) b/c he thought that was it and not 0072 which he quickly realized when he looked again. by 6:20 we had discovered our access card did not work. he finally came around to "help us" by letting us in and then walking off when i reminded him i still needed a working card and not just the door open this one time. so then my husband kept working while i followed the rep back to the office. he "fixed it" and gave us a second card that did not work. the coworker had gone to the back area to clean and confirmed the card wasnt working before taking it and going the other direction to clean vans. i buzzed the help button and after 3 calls finally our rep came to tell me i could just pick an access code. i told him i was comign with to cofirm it worked. he "set it up" and i insisted on trying it then, which didn't work. he was so blase and just on the system like idk why it doesn't work and i guess just get a card next time (?!) there i reminded them that i needed to return the van before their 7pm close. "oh so you're gonna need to do a late dropbox return?" i said no i intend to check out with them but they have to finish my access code so i can finish helping my husband. "well you can just do after hours drop off" i asked where "just leave it in the space out there for after hours." where? "close to where you came in?" ok but exactly where. "there's a sign." well finally he says hes have to ask the manager whose gone home to figure out my access problem. he seemed surprised i told him then he would have to do that. he called her on ft and showed the computer screen and she let him know he'd never actually moved me in, charged the card on file, or completed any part of the transaction. finally my code worked we were completely moved in quickly and went to drive the van back around. at 7:01 we couldn't find the area he had not ever really told me was the dropoff spot we knocked on the door as there were still customers in there but the reps wouldn't open which i only minded b/c they wasted so much of our time and were why we were even one minute after. we tried multiple times to complete self drop out on my phone but it kept saying there was an error loading photos, maybe there was no access? finally i just took photos of my shoe and entered the accurate information and somehow that worked, but i walked away not knowing if id be charged more later for the complete incompetence and possibly intoxicated mental state of the staff. truly awful. will be moving out of the unit asap and never using this company again. for real this time.

The roof is a little sketchy and needs repairs which was an issue during the heavy rains lately. I wish the prices for the units were a bit more user friendly as the prices in more suburban areas versus inner city.

I was trapped more than once in the parking structure during off-hours because the driveway got blocked and several times drove all the way to storage facility just to find I couldn't access my storage due to the blocks.

I used a moving truck from this location on 7/20 and i dropped off the vehicle 15 minutes late, I didnt even close it out on my app but i reached out in the morning and one of the virtual members told me i wouldnt have to worry about extra payments but two days later they charged me $198 which i then had to call your customer support line and they investigated and cleared those charges. This location is the worst uhaul ive ever been to. Customer service here needs to be worked on because uhaul is an extremely useful and helpful place but this place is an absolute piece of trash

You guys didn't have the dolly I needed for my couch and I think couldn't find my locker because your numbering system was completely odd to me. So it was 6 pm, II had been there 2 hours and I hadn't moved anything and just found my unit. A free month or not I decided to not move in. Please cancel my contract. I went elsewhere and was able to do all the paperwork online and walk right into a facility without any issues and my codes working and given to me in advance.

The parking situation is a mess and I would regularly be blocked in or prevented from accessing the door due to uhaul equipment blocking the way with no operator in sight.

The staff that are working at the facility do not care at all about customer service, with only one exception of a supervisor in the loading area that tried to help earlier in the day. At the beginning, it took us more than an hour to even begin unloading because the entrance was blocked by multiple vehicles. After unloading, we were blocked in for the night (meaning we couldn’t get our personal truck out of the U-Haul facility after unloading the U-Haul trailer) by customers returning vehicles and the only staff person we could find said “it was not his problem as to where customers park their vehicle when they return”. We had to ask my wife to speak with returning customers and ask them to position their vehicles so we could get out and this was before the 7 p.m. closing time. This is the worst U-Haul facility I have been to in over 30 years.

Dede Lipp | Overall ExperienceI had a terrible experience moving into the Baldwin Hills, CA UHaul storage facility yesterday, Tuesday April 5th, 2022. Upon my arrival, the lady that was helping me, a very nice African-American woman (Mekia? Mikela?) told me that the reservation I made 2 weeks ago was in the computer system, but that the unit was not available. She was somehow able to find me a larger unit, but called her supervisor and asked if he would give it to me for the price of the smaller unit I had reserved, since it was UHaul’s mistake, and he told her no, I would have to pay for the larger unit (after receiving the free month that all one-way truck rentals receive from UHaul, of course, which I was I chose a Uhaul storage facility in the first place). The truck I had rented in Colorado was a 26’ truck, which did not fit into the loading dock area of the only loading entrance into the building, so I had to park it 200 feet away from the door, unload my items onto the ground, walk them 200 feet to the loading entrance (which has no access ramp for dollies or disabled people), leave my items on the ground outside, and then move them into the loading door, JUST TO GET INSIDE OF THE BUILDING. From there, my unit was at the opposite end of the building on the 2nd floor, and there was only one functioning elevator, which a woman and her father were already using. Every time I brought something inside the loading area or into the elevator (which I eventually was able to start using about 2-3 hours after my arrival), I had to swipe my access card to use it and had about 5 seconds to move whatever I was moving before the loading door or elevator door started closing on me. I had to swipe my key card at least 200 times, and had the doors close on me dozens of times while trying to move in. If my girlfriend hadn’t come up from Orange County to help me move things into my unit, there’s no way I would’ve gotten moved in before 10:00, which was when the elevator locked me out & ceased operating for the night (even though a male employee had told me earlier that I would be able to work on moving in as late as I needed to). Fortunately, I only had one load left at 10:00, which I had to carry up a stairwell in order to move into my unit. There was a single courtesy mattress dolly for the entire facility, which I was only able to use once the aforementioned father/daughter were done using it; I asked them how long it took the 2 of them to get loaded into their unit in this terrible facility, and they told me they’d been moving in with a 15’ truck rental for over 12 hours. My personal move-in, with one person helping me unload my truck and another helping me carry items to my unit, took me over 6 hours, and I am a professional mover. Finally, I had parked my 26’ rental where the UHaul employees told me to park it, but kept getting asked by them to move it while in the middle of unloading everything because they needed to get to trucks or trailers. I feel bad because I snapped at the nice lady who was working the front desk the 2nd time she asked me to move it, but I’d had enough. The staff at this location are not the problem, the building is…it looked like more units are being added, so hopefully these issues will be worked out in the future. But I would never, EVER recommend that anyone move their items into the Baldwin Hills UHaul Storage facility in its current condition. I feel bad for anyone that does, and I am literally dreading moving out of it.

Upon arrival to the facility, after have driven two days due to moving in from out of state. There was a storage resident whom had the wrong idea of what was happening and there was an altercation between her, my son, my father in law and myself. She assaulted my minor son, got in my face as well as my father in laws face while her fists where balled up and ready to fight. My entire party remained professional and calm through out the dilemma. She needs to be told she can no longer do business there if this is what she does. It was also stated it is not her first incident that the employees have had to deal with. Instead of employees calling law enforcement they stayed away and shook their heads. It was a terrible experience with coming back to CA. These kind of people should not have the privilege of being able to do business with public places like this.

Then when I was told I would get a refund it was never issued and had to file for a refund with my bank for the truck I couldn't drive. I will never let myself or anyone I know use a uhaul again.

Upon leaving I told the Gen Mgr Amber and staff that I would be back in 2 weeks to move my things in. After coming back two weeks later after closing my old storage unit and with a fully loads truck the staff couldn’t find me in the system at all. After going round and round with the staff they found old that my unit was given away to someone else per Amber. How could this happen and think this was an ethical way of doing business? It literally makes no sense at all. Not only was I not notified or told that my unit was being given away for no reason but I had to wait over an hour to try and another unit which they tried to charge me more! The nerve! I was finally given another unit but the professionalism of this mgr is just awful. On a side note the inside of the building and actual storage unit is nice. But definitely watch how this mgr runs this business.

I had to wait patiently for perhaps 30 minutes and a representative strolled out of the restroom, unapologetically. In addition, last week I had to rent a van to take my things out of the warehouse and the representative was extremely rude to me. This guy was African-American. One service took him about 40 minutes to question me, call my references and take a picture of me with his iPhone device. I sensed a great deal of distrust from him. I explained to him.. What does he expect me to do with a whole van I am not renting this to joy ride what do I look like. He was very rude to me he didn’t make me feel like it was ok to rent & he was going to give me the best service because that wasn’t the case. He made me feel as if I was a criminal! Eventually, I was able to lease the truck.. I used the van for approximately two hours and returned it that night. I put the keys in the key deposit box neatly and securely. But two days later the manager "April" called me and said they didn't see the key. I told her you had to check the cameras because the truck is here and I no longer have the truck. She was rude and clearly stated that she did not believe me. I asked her, "Isn't the truck here?" She says people do this all the time, park the truck and take it out again. I told her I have no use for the truck any longer. She said she'd check the cameras and give me a call. She still hasn’t called me back. That location ghetto and they racially profiled me. What's crazy to me is they're all African-American. Disgusting & despicable. It seems to me they're trying to sabotage my reservation. I request that a member from corporate reaches out to me so I can explain the events further. Thank you

He made me so uncomfortable that I blocked him from contacting me, told my family what happened and rarely went to my storage unit fir fear of running into him. The couple of times I did go I was with people and I vowed to mention this incident to your company once I no longer was a storage customer. Amber remains unaware of this issue, though I have no doubt that she would’ve handled it appropriately had I brought it to her attention. Thank you.

Staff was excellent in handling pressure from anxious and impatient customers. The 4 stars is for the one staff member who failed to close me out of my storage space like she assured me, and I was sent a late fee notice after having vacated the unit. I will chalk it up as her being overwhelmed, but I was almost charged for a month's rent plus a late fee, and it is very VERY difficult to get through to the actual store when calling in. Thank you to the staff member who actually called me back to rectify the oversight.

The place was often short staffing (in my opinion) and yet she ensured things were smooth with multiple customers, truck issues, crowds of people in line, and the like. Especially during the initial covid period. As an executive officer in another industry, I can tell you that you guys have a gem in Amber. Because of her, I'll be using UHaul again in the future.

I was being charged the same price for 5x10 but I've got smaller storage unit which I found that doesn't make any sense. Aijah realized the issue and told me to contacted you regarding this matter. When I informed Mary of this, she stated to me she was busy and she would address me when possible. I was frustrated, upset, but the associate in the back came to the rental center to assist me. Mary seen the attendant helping me to the best of his ability and finally helped. The alarm went off 3 times and it took us 2 hours to move in. All in all it was a bad experience, the GM Amber was concerned with leaving the premise more so than helping customers on a busy day. Amber left her car parked in the middle of the driveway and got out of her car to walk back in the office. Amber could of help, but elected not to. It was a horrible experience, but me and Mary were able to rectify the situation. I just feel bad for those whom these personals will offend in the future. I hope they get their customer service abilities together.

The truck was very dirty on the inside. We went to return it in Los Angeles and again were not greeted when returning. I pulled the truck up where it said to and there was a worker doing something to the truck in front of us. Looked at me then looked away. I went inside to initiate the return and again was ignored. I had to go up to her after standing along (and was noticed) and ask her to start my return. She says you just pull the truck up where the sign says. I did I did. She got on a walkie talkie and told someone that I had just pulled up the truck. He said yes I know, I’m in it now. Would have been nice to be acknowledged by him that he was going to be there soon. I went back a few days later to take advantage of the offer for a storage unit. My car was full of things to store there. I had a great experience over the phone when I reserved it, he was great and helpful. However that changed when I got to the location. I walked in to find out which unit was mine. She was on the phone so I waited. She got off the phone and I stood there for a few minutes without being acknowledged, yet again. She asked how she could help and I told her why I was there. She said just use the app. I said okay thanks. The app was trying to charge me the full amount so I went back in because the month was supposed to be free. She then had another phone call but did acknowledge me when she hung up. I told her the situation and she told me I’d have to wait a bit because she had to go do something with a forklift. I waited over 30 minutes inside with her nowhere to be found. Someone that worked there came in on their day off and saw three of us standing there. She asked where the lady was. I said she said something about using a forklift. She responded back that oh she must be super busy then. She then logged on the computer on her day off to help us out. Fifteen minutes later I was able to head over and store my stuff. So after 45 min of that lady knowing I was still in there not being helped, she never came in and I never saw her again. Terrible terrible experience for an already stressful situation moving across country. Especially when it cost $2,000 and received horrible customer service.
