Very dirty windshield, check engine light came on 2 hours after I picked it up for 3 days. No where in the truck or on the paper work was a clearly marked 800 number to call in the event of a problem. The passenger inside door handle was broken. Poor gas mileage. For a truck that had only 14K miles on it, it was in bad condition. I rented this for a tax exempt business and was told I would not be charged tax and was. I have been renting cargo vans from my local U-Haul for the last 10 years. Over the last 2 years or so, in 3 out of ~ 7 rentals, when I arrived at my local store to pick up my van reserved from the U-Haul web site, it was not back from the previous rental and all other vehicles in the lot were under contract. I had to go to another franchise to get a vehicle. This is clearly not the fault of the employees, in fact, they went out of their way to help me secure a substitute van. In one case, an employee went to a remote location and brought the van back to the local dealership for me when I was pressed for time. The employees are great and I cannot stress that enough, BUT, an apparent corporate policy of overbooking vans, or not leaving enough time for laggard renters to return vans, has led to problems for me. I would ask you to consider stopping a policy of depending on renters to return equipment on time by: 1) perhaps significantly increasing time allowed between rentals, 2) having a reserve "emergency" vehicle on the lot for times when vehicles are not returned, or 3) really increasing the penalties for late returns. As I said, it is only recently that I have had this problem. Thank you for your time in reading my complaint. Again, I have nothing but praise for the employees. For what it was, it served its purpose. The van was in satisfactory mechanical condition. For a vehicle with only 35,000 miles, it was physically rough. The only real issue was the van stunk, like wet dog.Richard M.
While I went to the store to ensure I found a drop off location near my delivery site, I was given a return site 14 miles from the delivery address. There are 2 to 3 UHaul shops within 3 to 5 miles of my delivery address. I tried to change the return site but I was transferred to a number where I was on hold for what seems longer than normal. No one picked up. I drop off the truck on 8/8, same day as the rental. I called on 8/9 to request a refund. The 1st rep that picked up the telephone was rude and did not give me a chance to explain. She transferred to another rep, without even saying she was transferring me. The 2nd rep listened and transferred me to another rep. Both the 2nd and 3rd reps were polite. The 3rd rep took my info and said someone would contact me about the issue/refund. I am still waiting to here from UHaul. I was overcharged and should receive a refund for the more than 10 miles extra I had to drive to drop off the truck. Anything less would be unfair.Ronnie M.

We had to stop at this location because the truck was not driving properly and the check engine light was on. The manager used profanities when he talked with us about his frustration that U-Haul was making him take care of this. He could not repair the truck so they had to get a new truck, and hire moving help to get all the items off of our old truck to the new one. The moving help was careless and reckless with our things so much so that we had to tell them we rather not have that kind of help. Then we had to unload what they had loaded, since it was so poorly done and load the rest of our said y as well. This set is back about 7 hours in total from the time we called roadside assistance. The moving help said they were not experienced movers and just general laborers. The manager was not around to hear about this, and when I texted him, he did not respond. Roadside assistance is supposed to be calling me back, bit it's been almost 3 days and they haven't yet. We had our two children with us and two pets in the car with the windows down on a 94 degree day. We are not pleased and will not recommend U-Haul to others.Timothy B.

Reservation was moved from Vestal to downtown Binghanton to obtain a 21' truck. Verified rental of 21' truck was good to go day before (1-800 number). Got to office and only 26' truck available, had to accept no other truck available. Cab was dirty and smoke smelling, gave me a headache. Worker was nice and was not his fault. I will probably go with a competitor next time.PAUL N.

Exterior of trailer was really beat up. But interior was clean, tires were OK, and everything functioned OK. Exterior condition of the truck made me question if the wheel bearings had been maintained, however.James D.
Arrived at 9:00 for scheduled installation. Employee told me to come back at 11:30 because they were the only one there at the time and couldn't leave the register. If that's the case then why did the online scheduler allow me to select 9:00AM as an option? Also during installation, employee said they couldn't put the plastic shroud back on underneath my car. I explained that that's what I wanted them to do and that it only requires a simple cutout to allow for the receiver to stick through and they still said they couldn't do it.Beau S.

Was a little expressive, my mattress didn't fit in my SUV so I tried to rent a truck or van. Online said a van was only available 5 hours from when I looked but after talking to a second employee I was able to get a truck to use. I went 10 miles from pulling out to pulling back into the DEPO. Was less then 45 minutes and cost $40Ryan C.

Car had the low tire pressure warning light on when I got in the car. I told the employee about it but he said don't worry about. I asked if he wanted to check the tire pressure and he said all the cars are checked when they are returned. Also, this was not the location I made my original reservation with it. I got a call the day before asking if I could use this location because there was a concern the person before me might not return the car in time. The uhaul person said it was only 9 miles farther. I said it's going to cost me more in mileage. She then offered to credit the mileage. I then said ok. When I went to pick up the car the next day the employee at the location had no idea that was offered. He eventually did give me a credit for the mileage when I returned the car. After making a reservation one month before and leaving my credit card, I arrived to find out u had no units left. After carrying on that I wasn’t leaving after I had a reservation they found me a unit and charged me for a larger space then I originally booked!!!!! Get rid of the rat traps every five feet and rat poison in the hallways. Doesn’t make for a warm and fuzzy atmosphere!!!!!
