Manager was 100% unhelpful during the check in process and so so so rude. Wouldnt help me from the second I walked in the door. Another worker clocked on and instantly helped me. Then while she was helping me the manager told her not to rent me the vehicle I originally rented and made me get the box truck instead. 0/10

2215 5th st NE Uhaul location was the most unprofessional, disrespectful, and most important lazy uhaul i have ever worked with. They Failed to setup after hours reservation & costed me hundreds of dollars doing so. Also when i went to pick up the following day they lied to me saying my reservation at the K St Uhaul. The K st uHaul showed me on there my computer my reservation was at 2215 5th st location and I do remember the man and his co worker Shanita didnt even check the computer or attempt to fix it when I arrived…THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL GH**TO U HAUL

The women (specifically) at this location were super helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that the parking layout was way too congested. We were assigned a vehicle that was third in the back, with other vehicles parked along the drives. It look an extra 30 minutes just to get the car out. We eventually had to be reassigned a new vehicle because it would’ve taken too long to get our original vehicle. All this to say, the lot needs to have less vehicles and/or be better organized for efficiency and access. The employees were very helpful but they’re being set up for something more complicated than it needs to be.

Overall, a positive experience! That said, the location had limited furniture dollies onsite (one was available from prior evening’s return, but, the couple behind me also rented one which was then unavailable to them since none were onsite) and, while the truck worked fine, the interior could have been cleaner. I found (and disposed of) garbage under both the passenger and driver seat and there was loose tobacco in the center console (in/around all cup holders) from a previous rental which was icky. All that said, I would rent again. The equipment was available for me and worked to fulfill/complete my move. Thanks.

The reservation and actual rental process was atrocious. I reserved the truck online, which was more cumbersome than it needed to be. When I got to the location it required me to do the whole thing over again... and then again more time with the attendant (who was wonderful) but who had five customers to deal with. When I returned the rental, there were no instructions on how... I received four emails from U-Haul, none that explained returns. Just before I dropped the key in the dropbox I saw a QR code--the first time I could find anywhere info about returning my rental. And it was way more intense and cumbersome than even checking the truck out.

I was surprised and disappointed by the unprofessional conduct I witnessed at the U-Haul location on K Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. on August 3, 2026. While I was at the front desk, the employee assisting customers repeatedly used the F-word while speaking with colleagues and made a remark to the effect of, "What kind of fool... I had to track him." Whether or not the comment was directed at me, such language is inappropriate in a customer-facing environment and falls well below the standard of professionalism I expected. If I misunderstood or failed to follow a policy, I would have appreciated a respectful explanation. I paid the amount due for the services I received. If there was an updated receipt or an outstanding balance, it could simply have been emailed to me, and I would have addressed it promptly. There was no need for disrespect or assumptions about my circumstances. For context, my situation resulted from an unexpected issue with my move. I had packed all of my furniture on Friday, but the leasing office closed before I could complete the move because the representative was unable to wait a few additional minutes. As a result, I spent the entire weekend struggling with the loaded truck and my belongings. I share this only to explain that it is easy to judge someone without knowing the circumstances. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to reinforce the importance of treating every customer with professionalism and respect.

Spoke to a lady at this store location on the phone about my return and she said I need to call the national number even though my pick up location associate said I can drop off at any U-Haul in the area. My mom called this location after I did and then we were told by the same associate we could drop the U-Haul off. Very unorganized and giving misinformation.

Absolutely pristine operation. Clean and easy to navigate this location from check-in to pick up. Friendly and professional staff. I got the support I needed and the truck was practically brand new and easy to operate. Good value for the money. I would definitely use Uhaul again for any further moves. I saved a bundle.

We returned the truck with 1/4 tank of gas. We rented it with 1/8th of a tank of gas. The guy at check out said we were good to go. We got charged for 2 gallons of gas, but we failed to take a photo of the gas gage, so have an "my word vs yours" situation. Not worth fighting it. BUT, it is annoying and discouraging and means I am unlikely to use this location in the future.

The first 15’ truck broke down on the road. Roadside assistance was excellent in providing a hotel, tow, and new truck with excellent movers to transfer all my belongings to the new vehicle. The new vehicle preformed admirably.

The staff were absolutely awful. I was there on Friday, July 10, 2026, around 10am. The two workers were very rude to me and my husband. We arrived and did self-check-in, and found our truck blocked in by two other trucks. We went inside to get our keys and let them know the other trucks needed to be moved. The staff seemed to be confused and extremely put out by this. They then just decided to give us a new truck. When we got those keys and went to take photos/check-in with the new truck, the license plate did not match what was online. We then went inside again to let them know, and they did not believe us and said we must be looking at the wrong truck. This was not the case, we triple checked. The female staffer was particularly rude at this point. She was also simultaneously talking to a friend/family member on her airpods during this whole conversation. The male staffer then followed us out (walking very slowly, dragging his feet, on his phone), and finally confirmed that the license plate was wrong. After all that, he said to just take the truck. So, after all the confusion, we drove the (new) truck with the wrong license plate, which we felt very stressed by in case of an accident. Luckily, we got it back safe. All to say, this was not a pleasant experience, and we will not be using this location again.

Had hoped to speak to a person to help me through the rental process. Rather the person who helped was on a personal phone call while she was supposed to be helping me and repeatedly referred me to apps and links to do things myself. Was not at all helpful during process. Did not ask if another driver was being added, when I inquired told me to go to link or website. Did not bother to advise me of the issues of having someone drive who was not on the contract. Will not be renting here and will advise others to avoid. Would rather go to a location further away.

When I reserved the vehicle, I was guaranteed the vehicle type. But I wasn’t allowed to get the type I reserved. I wanted a van but had to use a box truck. Then later I was charged an insane price for not returning the tank full, when it was given to me with less 1/4 left. Absolutely ridiculous.

An overall very bad experience. First: I was not Checked In Correctly nor was I given proper instruction on how to access the unit. Second: One of the associates lied to my face about the terms and conditions. This employee also went into my unit without permission.

I started moving my stuff in on Sunday the 12th, at about 2 or 3 the gentleman working that time was very polite even though he was helping another guest he still assisted me as well. However coming in on Monday the 13th around 8:30 am I walked in and asked a quest the the female working that day who was not doing anything I must’ve interrupted her during her cell phone call on speaker phone talking to her friend about a man. I asked were we allowed to use the orange carts allowed to move things in? There was no yes or no, her response for what? I said storage! She said there are carts in the back. I asked about the orange carts specifically because I knew the remaining items were only bags and knew from the day before that they kept falling off. I went to the back and grabbed the rolling cart, didn’t even feel like addressing her unprofessionalism. I grabbed the cart and came out through the store entrance, while still talking on the phone on speaker she says you can’t bring stuff in through here it has to be the loading dock. I explained I was not told that yesterday and she rudely said well you can’t! While still talking on the phone to her friend and walking around the store still doing nothing. I took the cart to my car of which she then came outside on speaker to see what I was doing I guess. I don’t blame the gentleman the day before because he was busy and still tried to assist me. If she is the customer service I would have experienced on the day before I definitely would have canceled my storage unit. I’m not sure of what your cell phone policy is but I’m sure as a Area Manager in Customer Service that talking on thee phone with your friend and gossiping while customers are in the facility or not, is not appropriate. Especially not on speaker phone either, then to also be rude as well. She clearly wanted to go back and forth about the dock, I didn’t have time and also have other things to do. I’m big on customer service over 20 years management and she would not be someone I would deal with. I prefer writing reviews and calling corporate.

The self storage unit is in an awkward place to park your truck to be able to back in and unpack your truck. The cars were blocking the driveway so I had to wait. I had some issues with accessing the storage unit after hours. The manager was nice enough to give me a refund. I want to also add that the service from everyone that I encounter was top-notch my friend and I were talking about how impress we were because our past experiences haven’t great. Need better supervisors and also better communication skills, talking to customers and Delilah customers also let them know that understand the rules and regulations of the storage unit instead of giving them a contract. Also be mining them how the business is run. Sometimes people forget what you supposed to be doing at the U-Haul so yes, I put this score as a reason is because leadership and comprehension and understanding and communication is the key of business and also leadership for business consultant solutions for other business who want to come and use the storage unit as a business or as a customer, it was actually poor but it’s OK. I know what to do for now I’m learning my life is new everybody learn something so learning.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with this location - I am honestly sad I don't need to store anything anymore because they were so great to work with. Every single member of the team was helpful, friendly and proactive in making sure I was taken care of. This "above-and-beyond" level of service was especially appreciated as I am currently living halfway across the country. Uhaul has a great, modern customer service business model. Their online platform let's you easily start/stop a storage rental and do a self check out of boxes in the store. Amazing. Saved me a bunch of time. When I needed personal help I I quickly got to speak with a helpful person in the store.

I interacted with you office staff twice; getting the unit and closing the unit rental. The staff that assisted me, two different persons, acted like I was "bothering" them. Is not what they said or what they did, it was their attitude. Their tone of voice was like they were mad, like they hated being there. They are the face of your company, the one I prefer for my moving and storage needs. I don't need pleasantries or even greetings; but, I don't need to feel like I'm a burden to you. I'm the customer! The paying customer. Based on this experience I'll never use U-Haul services in DC.

It is my first time requiring uhaul services, it was late and it almost close for regular busines hours which compel me to get the "24 hours access service" which by the way I just needed for that particular day the 27th of jul. I needed to storage my stuff on the 27th of jul, so between go and get my stuff and come back, the store would be closed, so the least I would have expected as a some sort of compliment for a new customer would have been to wave the after hour charge for a day, no big deal it is just a thinking, and the to be obligated to buy some specific sort of padlock it is kind of absurd but anyways it is what it is other than that I rate your service average. Customer service? Excellent. Policies? Not very good for customers. My opinion.

Had all my stuff moved out of my unit before I was due to be charged for a new month, but office hours were closed so I couldn't formally close out my account until the next day, and I was automatically charged for a full month regardless. I will not be renting a unit from uhaul in the future, nor would I recommend anyone to uhaul due to the uncompromising, all-or-nothing contract and refusal to prorate unused days.

When we opened the unit, all of our items were covered with a film of white dust. Something must have fallen from Above. It took A lot of work to clean off our stuff. It was concerning as we don’t know what it was and whether it causes a health risk. The office staff were unhelpful and just said - we should have gotten insurance. Unacceptable!
