The man who was guiding people out of the lot helped me maneuver out of the comically tight parking space, and then made me listen to a speech about how little he makes and lives in government housing and then ASKED ME FOR MONEY. I understand the desperation of his situation, but asking a customer for money after they shelled out a bunch to rent a car is not appropriate. He was incredibly rude about my inexperience with driving the 9' van and kept asking me why "I couldn't figure it out" and said, "you got a license, don't you?" Then when I returned to drop off the car, he "helped" me park it but kept mocking my anxiety over maneuvering the car without great visuals of the periphery and bumpers. I scowled and retorted that I wasn't used to driving such a big van with minimal rearview vision, and as I walked away he said "damn b*tch, f*ck." Never coming to UHaul again.Simone C.

Storefront separated from drop off zone by another business. Son got there just before me and the male employee at drop off yelled at him to move. When told I was just around the corner and he was waiting from me he was told tough, drive around until she is here. There is no place at drop off for someone to wait for driver to retrieve driver and belongings (we had our personal moving equipment in the rear of the UHaul). Personnel could have been more polite and a waiting location would be helpful. He could have politely directed my son to the storefront parking but only yelled at him. Stop letting people extend their reservations without considering the next customer that you confirmed the rental to. I confirmed several times, in advance, my rental would be ready for pick up at 9am and the day before I was told my reservation will not be ready until 1pm. I chose the 24/7 mobile pick up but still had to wait in line at the desk to get my keys. I suggest making it clearer that waiting in line is still required for people who chose the mobile pick up or fix it so that you don't have to wait in line and cause delays.Benjamin S.

Install backup cameras in all rental vans (at a minimum, back up alert system). Several of the vehicles I have rented from other companies had back up cameras that were wired into the rearview mirror. Great tool for someone trying to back into a tight space with no help. Install a screen that is Apply Carplay compatible for navigation purposes. Without this basic technology, U-Haul is kind of stuck in the last century.Tom L.

My experience with Uhaul was absolutely terrible. I reserved a truck for 11:30am. When I arrived, everyone was told that â€œreservations in the past 3 days can't be honored.â€ Even though many many customers already had reservations, we were turned away. This is unacceptable, embarrassing, and does not fulfill the contract uhaul is advertising by promising someone a vehicle and subsequently routinely not providing it.Ezra H.

This was a terrible customer service experience from start to finish. Our original reservation in Falls Church, VA was cancelled on us at the time of pickup (zero notice on move day). We were then downgraded from a 20 to 15ft truck at a location 30 min out of our way in DC. Upon arrival the desk had "no trucks idk". After calling uhaul support they contended with the DC location until they finally looked out the back door to find said truck. Once booked the desk clearly stated that we did NOT have to return the truck to the DC location and that it was a one way trip. When dropping off the truck at the Warrenton, VA location we are told it was actually an in town contract (Uhaul error) and that we will need to drive 1.5 hours back to DC to drop it off (which made us late for our drop off time). Worst of all the customer service manager I pleaded with on the phone for help was very rude and insulted my integrity. She then offered zero help or empathy to our situation. NO customer should ever be spoken to the way she spoke to me (regardless of circumstances). I pray that I just had an isolated bad experience but I doubt it. If Uhaul is operating like this holistically then you guys are in trouble as an organization. Step it up. -EllisEllis D.

While the two persons that I interacted with at this location and the person at the drop off location in Durham were top notch and help me with all my problems. The experience with this reservation couldn't have been worse. A reservation made months ago was changed I suspect by a person in the scheduling/traffic that called me and inform me of a change in pickup location (not a big deal) without making abundantly clear that she had changed the time of the reservation from 8am to 3pm (a huge deal). Trying to call to change it back got me, I suspect, the same person being rude and telling me nothing could be done. Furthermore this person, that the employees I saw in person told me needed at least retraining, assigned me a truck that was supposed to be returned at 3pm, that is the same time I was supposed to pick it up. Obviously it wasn't available and making my pickup even later. Forcing to make the long drive at night and the unloading of the truck the next day. Upsetting all my plans. This location and employees are A+ however I haul in general left much to be desired. I made a reservation a few weeks before needing the truck. I reserved a 17' truck for 24 houses. When I got to the location at 9 am they said they had no trucks they could give us not any other location. Thankfully the women helping us was nice enough to let us take a truck as long as we returned it by 5 pm. But we got no call from u haul saying that they did not have enough inventory. Very disappointed in thanks lack of transparency and customer support on a higher level(not the store employees as they were all life savers). I had reserved a 10' U-Haul from 1pm-530pm. When I got to the location, the staff informed me that there were no 10' U-Hauls left and that the only option was a 15' U-Haul from 1-4pm. This was very stressful since my time was cut by an hour and a half. I had to quickly unload everything from the U-Haul in order to ensure that the U-Haul was returned by 4pm. This meant that my belongings were on the street instead of a vehicle. The policy states that if my reservation was not available, I would be refunded $50 so I am requesting that this error be reviewed.Henry L.

Was helping my daughter with a very short move. Picked this location for its convenience right in the neighborhood. Service was courteous and efficient. The only issue was lack of availability of a furniture dolly, which I had reserved. None were available at pickup. My truck was not available as scheduled. It was parked and surrounded by 6 other trucks, making it inaccessible at 6 a.m., during my pickup time. Customer service was unable to help me and instead I had to wait until the store opened for an attendant to figure something out. He was able to get me a different truck, but was unable to supply me with the dolly I ordered. He said he would remove it from my reservation. He didn't and I was charged for the two day rate for equipment I didn't receive. UHaul has also not honored their $50 guarantee. For making me late to my appointment with my movers and for charging me for equipment I didn't receive, Uhaul should really be ashamed of this poor faith business practice.Gilberto H.

A quick explanation about when picking up, not just if you cant find or access your vehicle, but if your vehicle is blocked, to keep refreshing until you get one that isnt blocked. Didnt know I could do that but lucky my other driver knew. Also, better dropoff instructions as the dropoff area was entirely blocked after closing so i had to enter the exit driveway to get my truck into the lot.Andrew C.

I signed up for the 24/7 truck share for a 7am pickup. I arrived at 6:55 and both the entrance and exit to the lot were blocked with other vehiclesâ€”making it impossible for me to get off the lot. That said, I did go ahead and complete the check-in and payment so I could get my key. Regarding check-in: It was frustrating. I had to provide two alternate contacts and I did not know (and I don't recall being informed ahead of time) that this was required. I had to call people multiple times to get them to wake up for the verification call. After check-in, I noticed clothes hanging on the side-view mirror of the truck. After a few moments, a homeless man woke up from inside the cab. Up to this point, I had to wake people up for a verification process I didn't know was required, there was a homeless person asleep in the cab, the lot was blocked, and the office was closed until 9am (I was scheduled to have movers come at 8:30am). Finally, when I opened the back of the truck, the furniture dollies and utility dolly I ordered were not there. I called customer service, but they weren't able to do much as the store was closed. The manager (or at least who I think was the manager) arrived around 8am. He was not empathetic to the situation and was not interested in helping. He did, however, move the vehicles blocking the exit and, by this point, the homeless man had left the truck. His response to the homeless man was "Yeah, we have a big homeless problem here and they use the trucks for shelter." My question is "Why wasn't the truck locked?" When I broached the subject of a price adjustment to accommodate for the late pickup and missing equipment, he said he had "other stuff to do" to open the store and that it would be about 20 minutes before he could help me. (I will also mention that there were 3-4 other customers on-site by this point trying to get their 24/7 trucks, as well.) As I had already pushed back the start time for my movers once, I had to leave to get to them on-time. The cab of the truck was dirty, presumably from the homeless man, and there was water in the door handle. Unfortunately, the experience and subsequent service were poor. I don't want to see businesses or employees be unsuccessful, and I hope this location is able to make positive changes.Clay M.

I interacted with you office staff twice; getting the unit and closing the unit rental. The staff that assisted me, two different persons, acted like I was "bothering" them. It is my first time requiring uhaul services, it was late and it almost close for regular busines hours which compel me to get the "24 hours access service" which by the way I just needed for that particular day the 27th of jul. I needed to storage my stuff on the 27th of jul, so between go and get my stuff and come back, the store would be closed, so the least I would have expected as a some sort of compliment for a new customer would have been to wave the after hour charge for a day, no big deal it is just a thinking, and the to be obligated to buy some specific sort of padlock it is kind of absurd but anyways it is what it is other than that I rate your service average. Had all my stuff moved out of my unit before I was due to be charged for a new month, but office hours were closed so I couldn't formally close out my account until the next day, and I was automatically charged for a full month regardless.
