1. Why did I input all of my information two separate times only to have to do it again while I was standing in front of the truck? This is insane. I understand the pictures but making me manually verify again and have to have it confirmed by a 3rd party is insane. I've never had to do this at any truck rental or any other U Haul location 2. The truck was extremely dirty, the middle seat had no seatbelt buckle, and it was extremely poorly maintained where the alignment was completely off. Not too mention the fact it barely had a working FM radio much less any Bluetooth or Android auto

bruno aTook 15 minutes to be acknowledged. 1 guy was moving a few empty trucks ahead of us and cleaning them down instead of acknowledging us. A second person appeared 15 minutes later to get us checked in and wanted us to back the trailer up written little to no guidance. We ended up pulling around and he disconnected the trailer from our car.
GREGORY DThe system was down and no alternative was provided for either the computer rental system or the website on smart phones. Neither were loading properly, and it took me 45 minutes to pick up my truck. No refund or compensation for rental time lost was given.
PAIGE PUhauls were parked in tight spaces surrounded by other large uhauls that made it challenging to take proper full length photos of each side of the vehicle which were required by the Uhaul app. We chose self check in but due to issues with the app we had to go back and forth to the building several times to trouble shoot it with an in person representative which defeats the purpose of the app self check in. Once the app worked, thanks to the in person rep, we went to the truck as the app instructed us to. Once we identified the truck, the app told us to go to back to the rep to get our keys. We ran back and forth from lot to building several times. Online we were told the Uhaul equipment we rented would be already in our truck, but on arrival we were told we had to go to a shed to get it ourselves. The in-person rep said inventory shows there were no more furniture dollys left and to call her if we got to the shed and didn’t see one and she would remove it from our reservation. Once we got to the shed, there were 2 left. Seems like inventory wasn’t properly updated and just added to a chaotic check in.

Khaled EThough I did the whole check in process on my phone, I had to repeat it once in the store. The person inside failed to tell me that I needed to go to a link on my phone for the equipment check, and so I didn't do it before leaving with the van. I was gone for about an hour and 20 minutes, driving about 5 miles. When I returned to U-Haul, I waited for about 10 minutes for someone to check the van in. They sent me away before checking the vehicle. To my surprise, I was charged for 37.1 miles although I only drove the van about 5 miles and only had it out for a bit over an hour. I have called the store twice, and they proved to be completely unhelpful. The fact is that pictures from me or not, either the person checking the vehicle in got her odometer numbers wrong, or there is something wrong with the van. Given the lack of help and lack of a refund, I will never rent from this location again.

MARFUL GThe receptionist at the counter, a young man, was very rude to me. I asked for a small van and even though there were many regular 9 feet vans available, he gave me a RAM, and when I asked him to change it he insisted it wasn't bigger than the others and refused. He was extremely rude, ignored me and walked away. I finally asked the supervisor, who made the change, but the aggravation of dealing with that employee took a toll on me.

KEITH JThe representative was very nice kind and pleasant. Therefore the customer service part was excellent. My problem was, due to me taking the pre trip and it's being dark at the time. I thought that the truck was clean, but instead someone took a dump in the front of the trailer part of the truck. We didn't notice it until we started to load my customer furniture onto the truck which her furniture was placed directly on it. At that moment we still didn't notice the poop. Until we brought another piece of her furniture out, to then notice the smell. Instantly I had to let my customer know what was going on. Now im in a position to use wipes paper towels in below freezing temperatures on Xmas eve at that., to complete my job. It made my business look bad. Thanks to my grateful customer. She understood that I had no control of the situation and that uhaul was closed at that time to complain. She still needed her task performed at a certain time. But it was embarrassing for and to me in reference to my business. I love and Will continue to do business with uhaul, but without the front desk clerk acknowledgement. Someone actually took a dump in the truck. Maybe they have to tighten up the security in that location, I don't know. But as of the moment, I'm just hoping this experience doesn't cause me my contract with this particular customer
TERRY AI like working with Uhaul because you can understand their billing and can calculate it yourself so you know how much you'll be paying. There's the rental rate and insurance, doubled if you rent for a second day. If you keep track of your starting odometer reading, which is on the contract, and keep in mind the rate per mile (1.69) and figure how much fuel is needed, according to the miles per gallon rate (10mpg), you can put enough gas in, but not too much. Make note of where the cheaper gas stations are. There are a few little fees that add up to about $4, and the rental tax is 10% of the total. If you keep it clean, and can always use their supplies once you park the truck, you can avoid a fee. Remember you can still get a ticket even though it's a rental - obey the lights and keep to speed limit because in DC there are cameras everywhere.
STEVE MThere was an issue with the self-checkout that the vehicle I was assigned was blocked in by other rental vehicles. The person at the front desk was able to quickly help me with zero extra issues.

The price initially was 169 on Friday the price increased $2.09. It’s predatory, especially in the inner cities, and marginal locations where people live . Justin TOn the return of my rental, there was an issue where I didn’t take photos when I first got it and it was because I didn’t get the message to do it and when I return the vehicle, they try to charge me 114 extra dollars so I had to go back because they said there was damage on the passenger side of the van that I had but turns out it was damaged from the previous runner and not me so the help that they gave me was really considerate and they was very helpful with taking care of it so yes, I would recommend K St. U-Haul to my friends and family

RENEE STruck smelled like urine. You didn't have one of the dolly's I ordered and you didn't apologize. I overheard you do this to another customer too. However, you were very particular about me folding the moving blankets and bringing the ready-to-go boxes inside myself so that you could count them. At least you helped me find my parking pass that I accidentally left in the truck.
MICHAEL Sensure that there is enough equipment to satisfy orders. when i arrived there was no dolly and although i appreciate it being taken off of my order i had to scramble to find one for my move. additionally the truck was on empty when i started it and spent additional money having to fill it up. why do i have to fill up the tank when the previous person left it on empty? lastly there were press on nails left in the cab from some previous renters. overall unhappy with my experience.

Instructions for finding the vehicle are poor. The user interface for checking the vehicle out of the parking lot is poor. Need better instructions for how to return vehicle to the location and what the various charges will be (environmental fee, rental tax, etc) prior and during process.
MAXIME PI don't how you have to fill out a questionnaire, upload documents online and then wait for approval while in line at U-Haul? That is way too much aggravation and time spent trying to get a rental. Can you come up with a better solution?

Nathaniel C | Overall ExperienceI absolutely DO NOT like the new check-in and return procedures using the app. I will try to never use U-Haul again because of the difficulty of renting and returning the vehicle using the app procedures. How embarrassing to have to track someone down by telephone in the morning so that they can identify you to the U-Haul employee. Ridiculous. Upon return, I was supposed to leave the vehicle unattended directly next to the sidewalk with the keys inside and the window rolled down. Anyone could have walked off the sidewalk and absconded with the vehicle, leaving me responsible. Fortunately, Sophia provided excellent customer care and checked the vehicle in for me so that I could leave the premises knowing that the vehicle was safely out of my responsibility and everything was properly accounted for and the transaction was complete and finished. Sophia is to be commended for her attention to U-Haul customers concerns and needs. Otherwise, I will go out of my way to avoid U-Haul in the future. Thank you.

MOHAMED SIt was hard to find the key drop. I recommend that a photo of the actual key drop be available among the information for the drop-off. It took us almost 10 mintues to find it. No personnel were involved since the drop off was late at night, after office hours. The confirmation of return and receipt was provided promptly the day after the truck was returned.

Adachi SI reserved a dolly and furniture dolly for my move. When I went to pickup my rental I was told none were available as previous rentals had not returned them yet. The associate called the other 2 nearby locations to see if I could pick up the dolly’s from them, they were also out of them. There were both kinds of dolly’s available for purchase and when I asked if I could just used one of those and returned it the associate informed me that they used to do that but too many were returned damaged. The lack of having the equipment I reserved elongated my estimated move time by several hours

NAM SWe had a very disappointing experience with this U-Haul location. The check-in process was difficult and disorganized — we had to walk back and forth between the lot and the office multiple times just to get help. The truck itself had several issues: the door was damaged and ripped our clothing, there was no gas cap, and the padlock was broken. To make things worse, the furniture dolly we reserved wasn’t available when we arrived, which created extra work and additional costs for helper fees. The staff on site were also unfriendly and didn’t seem interested in helping resolve any of the problems. Overall, a frustrating experience that fell well below expectations.

It was concerning as we don’t know what it was and whether it causes a health risk. The office staff were unhelpful and just said - we should have gotten insurance. Unacceptable!
