After a long, frustrating day, the staff member who checked me in was very condescending and rude. While I understand the need to train someone on systems, you don’t say, in front of customers, “and here is where we usually have issues” when discussing asking for an unrelated third parties address needed to check in (which a lot of folks don’t have available, BTW!). This person was highly condescending and rude throughout the entire conversation. He needs to be retrained on how to assist a frustrated customer; and that is not to be condescending and have an attitude with them.
U-Haul needs to do a better job at notifying the renter BEFORE they arrive to check in that they need an unrelated third parties address to rent a storage unit. If I hadn’t been able to scramble and find someone locals address, I would have been turned away. This was unacceptable and the entire interaction was very off putting. I will not be utilizing U-Haul moving forward due to this one encounter and will be using Penske.

I was charged extra money for dropping the trailer off after they were closed when I was told by the person that hooked the trailer up for me that it was no problem just drop it off under the tent up front and that's what I did and they charged me for dropping it off after hours I have been renting Vans trailers from that location for a long time and this is the first time I've been treated that way

Had to go to multiple different locations to get an auto hauler. Was told that the auto hauler was only going to cost me $100 but ended up costing the full $208. Additionally was told that I would be given extra mileage due to the fact I had to got to 5 different locations each of which said they had an auto hauler but didn’t. So I ended up going over in miles because of uhauls mistake.

The people working at this location were great and very helpful!
But there seems to be a disconnect between ordering on the U-Haul On-Line APP and at the location actually picking up the trailer.
All the information and credit card data loaded on the APP had to be repeated at the location store and credit card physically run again.
I was concerned about possible "double-billing" but so far I've only seen one charge on my bank's credit card data.
Something corporate maybe needs to look into (IMO)

Never got my receipt, showed the kid during return, that when you press the brake, it makes a terrible sound and he goes "well then, dont press it" fuck you kid. All of my things smell so bad after being in storage that I’m throwing most of it away. Even washing doesn’t remove the smell. It smells like dead rotten mice in a moldy basement. I’m very upset and disappointed that I paid for storage for so long only to throw everything in the garbage and replace it. I had to leave my truck in the loading garage overnight. This was due to me accessing the facility before 10pm, then loading my truck in the loading garage, and then the doors locking at 10pm. This was an extreme inconvenience. I didn't have my cell phone (it was in my truck, that was now locked in the garage) and I had to walk along the highway to the nearest gas station in order to call the manager. The manager was able to grant me access back into the building so I could at least access my phone and wallet, but I was unable to leave in my own vehicle because the garage door wouldnt open. I think this is a flaw in the gate code/access process. I had to order an uber so I could go home and not sleep in my truck in the garage that night. Then I needed to get a ride back to the facility in the morning to obtain my truck and posessions. If I am allowed to enter the garage, I should be allowed to leave, regardless of time. At the very least an employee should come tell me that "the garage door will be locking in X minutes, you should move your truck outside in order to ensure you aren't locked in". Thank God I am a smart, healthy, adult. If an elderly person or someone less capable found themselves in my situation, the outcome could have been much worse.
Also, the bathrooms are locked and out of order because the staff doesn't want to have to deal with cleaning them. What if I have to use the bathroom after the main office is closed? Unacceptable.

The gentleman who helped me was very helpful and went out of his way to make the transition as smooth and trouble free as possible. Maybe one staff member I talked to was friendly the rest were not generally happy to be there. The bathroom is the most disgusting public bathroom I had a good laugh when I walked into it.
I had told the guy I talked to someone on the phone about emptying my locker and the grace period to get the money back since I had just been charged and the very first thing he grumpily said is “I’ve never heard of such a policy”. Nothing like “I’ll look into it”, or “let me help you figure this out”. Just an immediate dismissal. When I certainly did get my money back. Pretty terrible customer service on that end but oh whale 🐳

U-haul as a company was easy to work with and cost effective. The problems I experienced was with the app. I found it very difficult to work with and throughout the process U-hauls first approach was to ask me to "go to the app". Most often I wasn't able to access it so I had to call and find a person to talk with. Across the the whole move project when I could reach a person, I found U-haul to be professional and helpful with excellent follow-through.

U-Haul was constantly raising my rent and I had no choice but to leave my unit and sell have my stuff. When I did get my stuff out of my unit half my things were destroyed by mice and I found a dead mouse in my things. I would not recommend you to anyone I know

Rental area was clean although my unit had a rat trap in it. But, it was dry and the door moved easily. The available restroom however was not open every time I visited it which was disappointing. Overall it was a good facility with easy access. Some loading carts were better than others, so use a good one.

I rented a trailer still in my possession due to being told I'd be able to unload it after hours and then it being locked. Now I have to get another driver. Pay more money I DONT HAVE to get there during business hours so I can access the bay door we were told we could get into. They were slow and unprofessional. Hung up on phone calls stated they can keep calling buy won't be answered. The customer service line was just as rude when we were trying to get help. If I didn't need the storage right now I'd go somewhere else!

Someone accessed my storage unit without my permission sometime during the summer. Stolen were sentimental things (irreplaceable) such as my only remaining senior picture, a Navajo doll (gift from my part-native grandfather), and a 1975 organic gardening catalog with my grandfather's name on it. Very upsetting.

When I rented our storage unit in August the associate for very helpful, took the time to show where our unit was located, along with where the entrance was and answered all my questions. When we returned on 9/24 we come to find that our unit had been cancelled due to we did not place a lock on the unit with in a certain amount days from renting the unit which without any communication. The associate informed us that we should of gotten a phone call which we DID NOT let alone was I told when I rented the unit in August. As a suggestion the renter should be told about making sure a lock in place or it will cancelled. If I was aware of this it would of saved myself and my family some time due to we were on a time schedule.

We tried to access the space before 9:00 AM on a Sunday and it was closed. Seems that hours should be earlier on a weekend day?
Otherwise, it is a clean, well kept space and was very convenent. Love the rolling carts, that helps so much!
Future, would love a paid option to dispose of trash.

Unfortunately I lost the keys to my lock and UHaul was unable to help me get it open. Now I know you use someone because you remove locks when people fall behind in their monthly pau\yments so why couldn't that person be recommended. When I asked I was told to look up a locksmith on Google..
As big as UHaul is, this lack of service is disgraceful!

The dock is all the way on the opposite side of where my storage locker is. It would have been nice if there was access to that side of the building. A full 26' truck with 2 or 3 people takes hours to unload and walk back and forth. Plus it takes up 1 of only 2 spaces on the dock which denies others from its use. Otherwise a very nice setup.

Well run facility in Crystal Lake. Our truck rental could have been better but not due to service. The truck was not in good condition, could only go 30 mph when loaded and hot (it was 90F), and would pop out of gear. But again, the service was great and consistent.

The manager Paul Sarantopoulos really went out of his way to help keep me there as a long term tenant. I appreciate his helpfulness! I also rented trucks there several times and was very pleased with the service!
