You need to fix your app. Luckily, I picked up and dropped off my rental during business hours so someone was available at the location. I couldn't progress through pickup or drop-off because the photo option on your app is bugged. I gave the location 5 stars, no my overall experience which would have been if asked 3 stars. Mike was extremely rude. He was accusing us of stealing a uhaul when we had already called to let him know what was going on with our situation, had said he would call us back with an amount we would pay to switch the drop off location and then texted us that he was reporting the truck stolen anyway without giving us a price.

All need to be re-trained! I was provided with misleading information all the time. Unprofessional behavior between colleagues and with customers. Manager called Kim was rude and not focused, would be talking to multiple customers at the same time, their voices were too loud yelling at each other. The day before my pick up, i spoke to someone (young aged) and he confirmed my hatch install for 3pm next day. I show up and kim yelling at my face that's its too late and I was scheduled for 1pm. After hicth install, I wanted to pick up the trailer and no info was given to me on drop off location if not same, extra fees, etc. Long shirt story it was a disaster, I felt like I was in a meet/fish shop with teenagers working.

Suggestions: ensure all mirrors are free of damage. Because I am only 5' tall… advise folks of short stature that getting into and out of drivers seat is a ‘stretch' AND also access to cargo portion of van will require the use of a step stool. Rental agent should remember that not all renters are a tall, well muscled, thirty year old male with acute hearing. I am an able, hearing challenged, diminutive senior female. (A short old lady with hearing aids-and feisty as Hell).

I ordered a 10 foot truck and I was given a 26 foot truck when I went to pick it up which was completely unsuitable and terrifying to drive such a long distance-Halifax to Toronto. I was contacted the day before about this 26 foot truck. I quickly emailed them back and said the made an error and that I ordered a 10 foot truck. I asked if I could at least have a discount because the gas cost me as much as the rental. They said no. They also said There was a 10 foot truck available in Lunenburg which was totally inappropriate because it was in the opposite direction and I did not have a way of getting there. Your company needs to care more about people and less about profit You put me in a dangerous situation with no alternative. I had never driven a truck like that before. Shame on you!

Only issue I had was actually finding the storage building. Directions were not clear on how to get to it. And I would suggest some better signage with the unit letter on the building perhaps.

When I received the trailer and got up to 60km it shook really bad. Contacted Customer Service and through a couple of solution suggestions I took the trailer to the Bayers Lake Service location. One wheel was out of balance (calling for over 8oz on one side when they tried to balance it). They replaced the rim and balanced both tires. After that it worked well. I was travelling to Ontario from Nova Scotia and was lucky that I rented the trailer a couple of days before we were leaving otherwise I would have known the problem until i started my travel. Doing a 'pre-run' on a rental shouldn't be needed. As far a recommending to a friend, I would let them know my experience and then they would need to decide.

This location did a fantastic job! Given it was the busiest move day of the year for them (Aug 31st), My truck was ready to go upon my arrival. Now the booking people - that is another story...NOT SATISFIED with that services at all...booked my truck well in advance (July 25th I believe) for 2 days - 7am Aug 31, return of Sept 2 by 7am with a furniture dolly. Called around Aug 25th to change dolly from furniture to utility, and pick-up time from 7am to 9am...representative updated the dolly request, updated the pick-up time, only for me to find out later that the location to pick-up had changes (rep DID NOT tell me this - I just happen to notice when I looked at the reservation to see that the dolly had been updated) the next day I get a call from the Halifax scheduling people (Olivia) to let me know there is no 10ft truck available for the 2 days - but they have a cargo van (which by the way would not have held all my stuff in one load - and it all had to be in one load as we had to be out of the current apartment by noon on 31st and was not guaranteed access to new apartment until Sept 1st - hence why I needed a truck for 2 days and one truck to hold everything in one load), or a 10ft truck from 7am to 5pm on the 31st only...of course I took the 10ft truck and hoped we could get into new apartment on the 31st by 1pm and have the truck back by 5pm. This was very stressful and very disappointing from a U-haul service satisfaction. I took the rental and hoped we could get in new place on time and have truck back by 5pm - it did work out for us, but no thanks to U-haul customer service. 1-800 REPS need to be better trained to explain if a change is made to a reservation it will alter the confirmed reservation and you may not end up with a truck after all...or they need to know how to make an alteration to a confirmed reservation without cancelling it and making a person loose their - WELL IN ADVANCED booked truck. BETTER customer service REP training is required so the next time someone wants to alter their reservation, they don't lose it.

My only issue was that the cart I requested was not as I expected. It was small and no handle to help move it along. The person who checked me in said the cart I requested wasn't available and waved toward a cart. The one I received was not the one I saw when the person pointed. I will say it was busy and there were other customers who were having issues so this person was rushed, as was I. It is one of those things where it is hard to fix due to circumstances.

I rented a trailer for two days. Three days after I return the trailer, I was charged for three more days. I also used 2 1/2 hours of my time trying to deal with this matter while at work. I was transferred to the call centre three times to say the same thing. Your customer service call centre was not able to contact the Dartmouth Windmill Road location, on numerous attempts to deal with the matter. An email was sent to the GM in Dartmouth. Dartmouth location was too busy to deal with the issue. I was told “it looks like we made a mistake “. Not the greatest customer service. Lesson learned, don't upload your card information on U-Haul‘s file. -Eric

Online booking saves the drop off location where you want it and assumes the closest location. I lost over a hundred dollars because of this. I wanted my drop off location to be in the town that i was moving too and I set that online, but when i picked up the vehicle i was informed i had to return it back there. That added over 80 km to my milage. I also called to ask why that was and if I could still drop it off at the location closer to me and they said if I did that then i would get charged 3x as much. Total bs

The staff were all very nice; my only issue was Ryan set me up for automatic payments and unfortunately it wasn’t completed and I was charged a late payment fee. I have never been late on anything and this was disappointing. My other concern was how damp my belongings got in less than 3 months storage. I understand I did not have a climate controlled unit, however it was shocking how much mould there was on many of my possessions. The rear of the unit had a lot of moisture/water stains on the wall/floor. I think for anyone renting one of these units, they should be forewarned that it is highly likely they will get mould; not just maybe.

There was a mix-up in the van we had pre-booked online. Someone gave "our" van to someone else, employee had to locate keys for another one. Service was not fast, which put us behind in our schedule. Receiving 6+ emails to rent a van is very unnecessary. We did an equipment return after business hours and tried to do it through the website in which we were told to do, however the site is extremely NOT user friendly and were unsuccessful. Van was returned shortly after 5pm, office was closed however there were some younger staff still onsite in the warehouse, who told us to make sure the van was clean and locked and to just place the key in the secure drop box and "everything should be fine". Please streamline your website, especially if you are expecting customers to do everything themselves.

Over the last several years, I have utilized U-Haul Storage on Windmill Road Dartmouth, NS to store my furniture. I would highly recommend anyone to use your storage site. My furniture and personal affects were secure at the storage and that was a top priority for me! The general manager ( Kim Singh)) was a professional, rendered excellent customer service and she would resolve any pending issue that I might have regarding my account or being out of the HRM area. At first there wasn't a unit available in the size I reserved. Then they found one,but it was on the second floor. It was bigger too so more money. Then we find it is locked and full of someone else's stuff. Long and short of it they found a pod in the upper yard at a cheaper price and I got the first month free. Good job to all that helped me. Happy costumer.

Last night I moved-in to my storage unit but the experience was awful as my code is not working and the customer service is not too friendly/polite at all. Waited for an hour (8PM to 9PM) before I was able to get in as they are trying to figure out what to do. Since the phone conversation is recorded you ca review the phone conversation and you'll hear from it how the customer service lady responded to my problem. The manager on the site is polite and professional though.

May or may not recommend, uncertain. First time I used this location, it was 24hr access. 7 days a week. This time around, the location wasn't accessible like it had been. However, it also wasn't the same physical building. When I ask for a larger unit, it was suggested there were a couple coming up, and in the meantime if a smaller unit would be ok, I could get the larger unit at a later date. Been several years. Never happened, even though units directly across from mine were emptied twice that I'm aware of. Incidentally, I was offered a second smaller unit. Not useful. Not what was suggested. I'm glad I'm no longer a tenant. One, all of my items are in one unit now. For less than the 5'×10' unit I had. And I'm that much closer to no longer needing a storage unit that's not on my property.

One thing that I'm not satisfied with is the free month storage that you are allowed to have according to the website and actually, you cannot have it. I rent a Uhaul Van (Contract #27797743) going to Quebec (2500Km in total) and back in Halifax. Sadly, I've been told that I wasn't eligible because I took the truck in Halifax and return it to Halifax. On your website, it is said that I had 2 yrs to claim a month free of storage. This is the part that I will not recommend to friends if they will do the same procedures as me. Meaning, rent a truck UHaul, to a place drive that many KM, and back. Very disappointing. I hope you will reconsider to allowed us to have one month free especially since I will be using your storage for 6 to 18 months in total. Thank you for reading the feedbacks.

Not impressed with how the facility is managed at all. Also the decision to extract my credit card info from past transactions in order to illegally attempt to make a charge due to late payment was very illegal. That's what you call sketchy business practice. For that I'll never say anything good about uhaul. If that transaction had gone through, we would be going to court over the matter. Never again.

I reserved an 8 X 8 X X 8 unit on December 30th and got a confirmation. When I went to the location the next day to show my insurance policy, the unit was gone. Did you know it’s was on a first come, first served policy even though I had a reservation number specify I had an 8 X 8 X 8 unit reserved. What does “Reserved” mean to them??? I was furious and am still furious!!

Weekly rates would be better then you wouldn’t have to pay for a whole month if you just needed one more week. The pavement outside of the entrance to the main office was covered with very watery mud.

The gentleman who works with the public in the office where I rented my storage unit - was very helpful, very positive no matter how many ppl were waiting 😉

At the Uhaul on Windmill I unfortunately was reluctantly served by the lady who obviously hates her job and would rather be doing anything than helping customers. She had me waiting and waiting while she was putting stock on shelves. As slow as she possibly could. After about 10 minutes she finally served me. She provided me with my facility directions and map and hours. I asked how do I get in? She told me to drive through the door. I sat in front of the door waiting for it to open… nothing… went back inside again and thankfully the other gentleman who obviously loves his job and serving customers showed me how to open the garage and apologized that someone had turned it off. I get to my storage locker and it’s sealed shut. I go back in again and ask her how to I break the seal to access my locker. She rolls her eyes at me, saunters over to the display locker and mockingly rolls up the locker door to show me how to get in. At this point I’m furious. I said I need something to break the green seal! She then says oh, grabs a knife and starts heading out.

Booked a space but did not have the size I booked online. No record of the online booking. Gave me a smaller unit than the one I booked. When I went to see it, it had not been vacated. Received a call with a different unit. Was the size I had originally booked. Was told they would not increase the first month payment I made for the smaller unit. Then I got an email saying I was late on my first month payment and was being fined. I didn't even have the storage unit yet and had paid when I booked the storage unit. I do love the new space and the move in went really well!

Staff was very friendly. I was disappointed that by reserving a unit doesn't mean you will get a unit...why provide that option? Fortunately, a similar (but more expensive) unit was available. The locker unit was a bit damp and strong odor, probably due to cleaning and of course the rat trap wasn't very enticing.

Kim was AMAZING. I was in a very dangerous situation and she made sure everything went smoothly and that I had a storage space. The staff upon arrival and checking the truck back in were fantastic, but Kim, she really made me feel like I was a person and that I could relax. Thank you to Kim and all the staff at this location.

I noticed something like bird poop dripping no a on several of my items in storage when moving out. I also had an awful time even getting this unit, since I technically booked one at another location and ended up with this one and having to use stairs, which I was trying to avoid.

Reserving a truck, equipment and storage unit doesn’t mean anything. The storage unit I reserved was not there for me nor was there any explanation when booking that it was first come first serve whether I reserved it or not. So was given a much smaller unit and a second unit of the same size free for only a month. No apology asked if when the size unit I reserved opened up if I could be contacted…. Doubt that will happen. Almost didn’t get the right size truck because the one that was supposed to be mine was having mechanical issues. Thankfully they had an extra one. Reserved a furniture and appliance dolly and got neither. Was told they were all gone in the morning even though again I reserved both for the time I reserved the truck. It was bad enough 2 of the 3 things I needed from uhaul went completely wrong but then the staff really didn’t seem to care and just wanted to finish the transaction and send you on your way didn’t make the situation any better. Directions were not explained such as when you return the truck get one of the guys outside to do the check rather than come back in to the front desk and wait in line for 25 minutes before they tell you “oh just go outside and get one of the guys”. I’ve used uhaul several times for my own moves and friends and family. This was the worst experience I have ever had with them and don’t know if I will use them for my next move.

An alarm blared every time I tried to open my locker, despite having confirmation it was ready and a tag on the door saying it was ready. When I contacted the front desk, I was treated rudely and told to come back in 2 days when they had a chance to fix the alarms. I said this was unacceptable because I'd already paid for the unit and driven with a van full of stuff to store. This went back and forth until someone else was put on the phone. There wasn't a lock in the locker either, so I had to call back again. Remarkably rude and incompetent service.

Communication after your stuff is in storage is non-existent. I sent an email asking if I had set up auto pay correctly with no response. I was then charged a late fee. I decided to pay two months up front and then another (3rd) month's payment was taken off my credit card without me knowing. I've asked for confirmation that 3 months payments have been recieved and if I will not be charged agian until November or if I wil get a refund and guess what? No response. Just this survey/review. It would be great if manager Kim Singh from Dartmouth would contact me via email. I am in Thailand and finding this stressful.

Not only did I call first the confirm that there was a storage unit the size that I needed, was still available, I reserved online a unit at the Dartmouth location. I selected my move in date and got an email confirming my unit was reserved. When I arrived on my move in date, the lady informed me that the unit was not available. Apparently reserving a unit online or even calling to reserve, doesn’t confirm that you will actually have a unit available to you. Minutes after the lady told us about there not actually being a unit being reserved for us, her co-worker informed her that there was a unit that just opened up minutes ago. So the unit I selected was $159+ taxes and the unit that I am now paying for is over $200 a month with taxes and tenants insurance…. Not pleased at all with how Uhauls system works, it makes absolutely no sense. The lady at the office was very helpful and sweet with us but I will not be renting a unit from uhaul in the future.
