Trucks should have cruise control. The customer should be contacted a day or two prior to confirm rental and explain options. I had to call day of rental and no one answered. The Indiana call center ended up confirming my rental.John S.
1. Easy check in process. 2. Clean pads. 3.The manager told me to park my car behind his building, when I returned in the evening (after business hrs.) I find my car behind a locked gate. Could not get my car till am. Major inconvenience. Had to scramble to get transportation back to my home 45 mins away. Then return in morning to find out the manager was over 15 mins late to work and the lot wasn't even Uhauls!!!! I should have been comped the move for all inconveniences. 4. The truck inside was clean but outside was in bad shape (dents, dirty, broken rear door handle etc..). Very disappointing transaction!!KEITH P.

Staff were completely unprofessional, eating pizza on the counter while checking me in, unhelpful and not friendly. They couldn't locate the correct key, and the truck's battery was dead when I got in and tried to start it. The location itself was not clean, and staff were very disorganized. The check in process took over 40 minutes even though I did online check in.Holly S.

My first contact with personnel was a guy name Brawn and he was so helpful that my stress level went down. He explained everything to me about renting the truck and if there was any other questions I would think of later to give him a call. I also had a great move-in experience with Veronica with her million dollar smile and a personality that was off the charts. She explained about my storage and access card to get in and out with their topnotch security. I was so stress making this transition to another apartment that I think they saw that and eased my anxiety. When someone helps you that much you don't forget names and how they can change your state of mind. Thank you so much U-HAUL FAMILY! May God continue to bless this company. Various employees were rude and made the checkout and return complicated. Employees were interrupting one another for questions and were not focused on the only customer in the building. When asked about using a certificate ($25 off code that was given because the year prior the same location had poor service), the employee insisted a certificate was not acceptable and had to ask for permission from manager who also was not aware of certificate use. During return, employee was eating while assisting us and seemed to be bothered to help in the return process. Overall, employees were not flexible or friendly. Gave this location another shot after last year's poor service, but will never return again.Tristan K.

I did not receive the truck size I reserved, received a bigger truck and I asked for bungee cords since I did not have enough stuff to fill the bigger truck and the man working said no. The battery light dinged the entire 6 hour drive, please check your trucks before renting them out. I had to remind the man of all the things I reserved, felt like nothing was prepared before my reservation time, which I booked months in advance. Tried to charge me $140 more than what I booked for but somehow gave me a $20 discount which brought me down to my original quote (makes zero sense)MORGAN LEIGH C.

Lavail took a kotter pin out of my hitch and did not put it back in. He took it out to adjust the hitch, ended up not adjusting it. I didn't notice it missing until I returned the trailer. This could have caused a catastrophic accident had my hitch came out. Not a happy camper. And I'm out a kottern pin.Sarah S.

U-Haul Moving & Storage of Downtown Grand Rapids was great because they had to fix the mistake of the central UHaul scheduling system. My reservation was for 48 hours and 100% guaranteed for 48 hours but the scheduling system changed it to 24 hours to try and accommodate another reservation because of many requests for trucks. If someone schedules a reservation for 48 hours, quit messing with it trying to get more revenue because you put U-Haul Moving & Storage of Downtown Grand Rapids in a pickle to try and make his customers happy.MICHAEL M.
We have had a horrible experience so far. Our first uboxes were scheduled for delivery then never came. If we had had to be out of our house that day or the next we would have been completely screwed. Then, when we rented our truck and brought stuff to the location for our last ubox, it had never been assigned. So, we had a truck full of stuff and no where to store it. The stores kept sending us back and forth, with some of the employees (Byron Center) being INCREDIBLY rude. Through all of this as a customer I never yelled, got mad, or treated the employees unfairly- even when I honestly had every right to. I expect the same in return, especially when they are the ones who messed up. Very disappointing experience so far. I only hope when getting the uboxes delivered to our next location we don't have the same experience.Nicolas C.

Two things to improve upon: 1. The truck's monitor doesn't have a backlight, so at night or when dark, it is impossible to see the fuel gauge or speedometer without turning on the cabin light. 2. I think the website should make it more clear whether you are ordering a one way or two way truck. I was expecting to make a trip from Grand Rapids to Detroit and drop the truck off at Detroit. Because the cost is based on mileage, I ended up paying over 100 dollars more than expected since I was forced to drive it back to the Grand Rapids location.Joshua K.
Exactly what I needed! Space was easy to load and unload, staff was helpful. (Initially planned to go to the Byron Center location but the manager was rude and condescending, so glad I gave U-Haul another chance and tried the downtown location! Truck was janky and felt dangerous to drive, could literally hear the control arms popping and vibrations on every bump, several of our items were damaged during the move because of this. We have begun the process of a lawsuit with a consumer relations Attourney. The gentleman working was also very rude when we said we would be back later than expected due to the truck being so scary to drive. My wife and I recently rented two vehicles. The first one was clean, but was in need of repairs. The steering was sloppy and I would consider it dangerous. The second vehicle was quite dirty. The windows had not been cleaned in some time and the entire inside of the vehicle was covered in dust. It appeared to not have been cleaned in some time. Additionally, the fuel was incorrect on both vehicles. In fact, the second vehicle was just above empty. It would seem to make sense that this would not be an acceptable fuel level since it is rather inconvenient to start the trip worrying that you don't have enough fuel to make it to a gas station.Jeremiah V.

My usage of the storage service exceeded my expectations. The place was well maintained. There was even one time when I mistakenly left my locker wide open with my items exposed. One of the employees noticed this and locked it up for me and even put some electronic items in a locked area in the office until I came back to claim them. These items were irreplaceable and meant a lot to me so for that, I am extremely grateful. Nothing was missing From my locker and without their help, I stood to lose a lot. I wish it was more clear on what you had to do to get 24hr access. I was under the impression I had it and even the letter I got after I signed up and started renting gave me the impression I had it, but after online chatting with someone I learned I did not have it and actually need to pay an additional $10 a month.
