Train the employees, because they don't know anything about customers service or sales for that matter. The ladies there are extremely rude and disrespectful. We were not offer anything such us the dolly or duck-tapes. At the end of the paper work is when we remembered that we need these equipment and asked the lady to add it for us however she wasn't pleased to hear that and started giving us attitude in the most in professional way. The dolly wasn't attached properly to my car, the strap that was supposed to hold the tire came off. I had to stop twice on the road and waisted 4 hours all together trying to reach road assistance customer service. The call I made I was the phone for over an hour nobody answered. I submitted a request online no response. Last I live chat that's when someone finally called me. I drove for about two hours then a screw on the dolly got loose it was making a very loud noise. I pulled over again trying to reach customer service but this time no one called me, not even someone from the live chat. I had to asked someone one who had a towing truck to help me fix it. reserved 15ft truck and furniture pads. upon arrival didnt have 15ft truck-actually said had no trucks and had no furniture pads. I showed them reservation #/etc. said sorry-found me a 20ft truck. took an hour. My reservation return was listed for a place 2 miles from our home. When returned truck after hours(which stated took after hrs returns) -when we tried it wouldnt let us-diverted us to a place 15 miles away. When plugged in info online would not accept it b/c said end miles were less then starting miles-even though we took picture of odometer. Total cluster you know what from start to finish. I made reservations and I was told that because vehicles were not returned the night before I could not rent a truckâ€¦. I had to sit in my car and wait for a vehicle to come available while the representative searched around â€¦â€¦I finally went back into the store were they sent me over to another location to pick up a box truck â€¦the problem I have is that I clearly made reservations and it should have been communicated to me maybe early that morning because I had people on standby ready to move me out of my houseâ€¦. The sad thing is that I heard this happening to multiple people at the first location and the second locationâ€¦.It doesn't look good for business for things like this to happen especially with my reservation being at 9:15 and I didn't get a vehicle until 11 o'clockGRETA S.

Truck was filthy and not cleaned! I tried telling the mgr at the location and she would not listen! Pretty much told me that is what I was assigned to. It had gloves and hair in the seating area. Completely ridiculous! Following day when I went to get the Auto Transport hooked up on the car, no one was available. The location was suppose to open at 7:00am and she was not there! Myself and other customers were all waiting outside till 7:45am when that same rude and incompetent mgr at the location showed up! How do you get to work 45 mins later on a Saturday when you know its the busiest day of the week? My entire day was thrown off because it took almost 2 hours to get my car hooked unto the auto transport and going out of state; the delay affected my arrival, movers etc! Pre-rental communications were abysmal. Was promised a call because equipment was not available when I first reserved - not a peep. No emails, texts, calls - nothing. Finally called the local shop and was directed to the wrong location - five miles from where I should have been. Once I got there, they had plenty of stock that I was looking for with my original reservation. Online and phone customer service at UHaul is a total joke. The store locations are OK.David F.

The staff at this location were very helpful. The trailer worked good. Trailer hitch rattled a lot especially when trailer was empty. The sound made me a little nervous. although it seemed safe. I think trailer fit on the 2 inch ball was too loose.MELISSA J.

Caused the short staff to have to work harder/extra to solve app issues on top of normal activities. I purchased theClimate/Temperature controlled storage unit. The AC was not working properly. The main reason for obtaining the temperature controlled units is to store items from heat spoilage. We had a horrible experience with this U-Haul location. My partner and I were overcharged by $1,000 due to the staff admittedly inputting our mileage wrong and we still have not received our money back for it. A staff member at this location (Rodnai Drew) was rude and aggressive, and yelled at my partner in front of the entire store when he tried to get the overcharge fixed. After multiple attempts to have the overcharge cancelled, no one has tried to help us. I will never recommend this place to anyone.Daniel N.

This was my first experience with U-Haul and I would rather avoid needing U-Haul in the future. I had reserved a van rental and a few prepaid moving related items from the store (packing paper, mattress cover). When I arrived at the store to pick up the items, it was the most stressful environment; the employees were working their hardest but due to system failures, no one could check out or confirm reservations. U-Haul's reliance on the computer database system and lack of any local or back-up procedures seemed detrimental that morning and impacted everyone's mood negatively. I was also very unhappy to receive extra charges for every little thing; this turned out more expensive than I really wanted. I needed a way to move and store furniture between moves, and while U-Haul has given me that flexibility, I am really not looking forward to relying on them again in a month.RICHARDPAUL L.

The air conditioning completely went out 10 minutes into our drive in the heat would not stop blowing out. When we tried to call the help line it was a 45 minute hold and we never got through. When we got the truck to begin with there was a box in the front seat that was left there previously so it obviously was not cleaned. After dropping it off we had a hard time finding where to drop the keys off. And the next day after returning the keys the manager told me she did not have time to talk to me then I called the store & left my name and number with an associate to have the manage call me & she never did. Then I had to call the helpline and waited for two hours on hold to discuss the issue with the AC and then they said they would call me back but yet have never called me back. My pick up time was 2pm. I stood in line for an hour. Mobile check in wasn't working. Our truck was no where to be found. For half an hour, tons of people stood in line while no workers were in the building. Try to shorten wait times! One man said he had been waiting for an hour and a half to pick his truck up. I also tried calling customer service about my drop off location and the numbers listed on Google were incorrect (you may want to fix that). Then once I got the correct number, I was on hold for 15 minutes and no one ever answered.Joya G.

The line of trucks being dropped off was in the road that is on a high speed freeway. I had to come into another entrance, and I was nearly rammed by another person reversing in another truck because the location was so poorly organized. Further, when I was attempting to confirm that the truck was in fact clean and swept an associate demanded i give him the key to move the truck for a customer and suggested a hold onto the railing as he moved the vehicle. Naturally, I refused and at this point surrendered the key and left. I am extremely unhappy with how my contract has been handled. It has been expensive not only in the cost of the renting the vehicle, which normally I would be happy to pay but I was delayed nearly two and half hours at the pickup location costing more money in externalities for the movers I contracted and this location put me at serious risk of harm. I seriously want my contract addressed and comped for the trouble I have undergone.IAN A.

Made reservation for a specific locationâ€” Northridge Autoshop 10 days in advance. On the day of my reservation, I showed up and the truck wasn't there. A man begrudgingly asked me my name and said â€œyeah you gotta call this #â€ I called and my pick up location was switched to a diff. location across town. U-Haul apologized, but my travel plans were delayed as well as my mother-in-law's who gave me the ride. Some compensation for this lack of communication and mistaken confirmation by U-Haul would possibly convince me to try them again, but unlikely. the facility in Raleigh NC closed their doors 15 min early forcing everything to be done on line, even though we arrived before close. The woman that was working at the facility did not want to be bothered with customers, as she repetitively steered us to the website to enter all our information. Process took significantly longer than if we would have been allowed to enter the facility and do it at the desk in the AC. Trash was overloading the can outside. I wasn't necessarily comfortable doing the early check-in process because it required a picture of my license. I'd prefer not to have pictures of my license stored somewhere. So I waited till I got to the store expecting that it would just take me longer to check-in. No problem I expected that. However, they still took a picture of my license. I came on time but staff who was working around 11:30 am at this branch so slow and ignorable. When I came to pick up my reserved truck, one guy was in the line after me 6 or 7 customers were lined up and waited her. I supposed to be picked up my truck by 11:30, because of this long waiting I picked it up by 12:00. It is fine I waited her but one thing I dislike was the staff responded me I have to return a truck by a due of the reservation, which I had a less time I was planned for then. I am giving U-Haul the national chain a VERY poor rating. The local people were nice and tried to accommodate a poorly run-company. Yolanda , which I assume was from your National cust service center, sent me to the Capital Blvd location from the original Chapel Hill location where the pods were to be stored. She reserved a 10x10x10 unit. I also called back to get another unit since the 10x10x10 was not large enough. I reserved a 7X23.5X6. When my movers arrived at the Capitol Blvd location. There was not place to park the truck. I had to drive around to finally find a place to park my car. There was one guy working the desk and a long line. It was chaotic. When i gave my reservation to the young man, I was then told the only units at that location were 5X5X6 units. I could possibly get four different units. He was not sure if they were rented or not. I had to walk to the units to see if they were actually open and not rented out. What kind of system makes reservations but actually does NOT have what you reserved? Moving is so stressful and to have this debacle from U-Haul is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. I am so frustrated that I even used U-Haul. I would have been much better off going with a less crowded, closer storage unit. The stress of being told my six pods were cancelled, I did not think that I no longer needed to be with U-Haul! I arrived after 6 pm to unload and move into a storage unit. The lady running the office was worn out from the day. I could tell that she was spent, but she remained professional and accommodating to insure that I found a unit large enough (I had to increase once I saw the size I booked). This facility was extremely busy, right up to closing time at 7 pm. I can imagine that she was understaffed for the busy Saturday. Upon setting up my storage unit at this location, my account was not set up correctly twice within the span of 3 months. I almost had all of my stuff moved out of my storage unit 2 times because the previous staff did not file the proper paperwork in order to secure my unit. This after each time, I verified with them before leaving the location making sure there was not anything I needed to sign or check. Yet, despite this they still failed input my information properly. However, I will say that with the new management that came in this location has gotten a lot better than it was before. I just had a horrific experience upon moving into the unit. The main reason I am leaving such a review is because I had to put a majority of my belongings into storage while waiting for my house to be built. When I closed my account yeasterday the key to my unit did not work. I was told if I lost my key I would have to call a lock smith. I the mean time as i waited with professional moving crew that cost $129/ hour TWO OTHER people came in and complained that they could not get into their storage units for the same reasons. One of the persons has 2 units and couldn’t get into either and cut his own locks off. Finally some one with U-Haul came and Grided my lock off. it took an hour and cost me $129 for movers to sit and wait. I was very pleased with the service that I received. The unit was large and clean and I feel safe entering the storage unit. The service associate Justice was very courteous, professional and was able to expedite me obtaining my storage unit. The store was very busy and he worked quickly to assist all of the customers while the General Manager stood outside doing nothing but watch the line of customers grow. When the General Manager decided to come inside to assist, her behavior displayed that she really was not too happy about working. Justice meanwhile went above and beyond and seem to really enjoy his job in helping others. They had to find an open one for me to use in which was beside a mechanical unit that was leaking into the unit the moved me to. Booked a storage unit in person and the person working there gave me a storage unit that was already in use on the first floor. Since they did not have storage units of our size on the first floor, they then assigned us one on third floor. This unit was also in use by another customer. The staff was not super helpful throughout the process and had a slight attitude when issuing the refund for the lock I purchased. I had originally moved in back in December. I was a key card and allowed to move my stuff into the unit. However, when I tried my key card one night it didn’t work. When I came the next morning their was an extra lock on my unit. Come to find out, the employee who signed me in the day I moved in didn’t do anything other than open up to unit for me. I was very unhappy with my experience in storing my household items at the U-Haul down town Raleigh facility. Upon moving my items into my new home, I came to realize that I had a roach infestation that had occurred in my pack boxes I stored there for 5 months. I put in a complaint and it was not resolved successfully, after submitting a claim requesting to have my new home exterminated. The $125.00 estimate to have my home exterminated was denied by their RepWest insurance company that's supposed to help with U-haul customer complaints. Saying that no negligence was found on the behalf of U-Haul. This determination I disagree with, because they should maintain their property by having it treated for insects to avoid these type of occurrences. Before submitting this review I made one last effort to reach out to Management and got no response. So, since the company has emailed me asking about my U-haul experience, I'm left with no other choice but to be honest and say... Two opposite comments: Ruben, your employee at the Raleigh location, was fantastic. Knowledgeable, patient, friendly, responsive, a stellar representative for your company. I cannot give him enough stars. Really took of us. The opposite issue is safety that has nothing to do with your team. Three young adults and I ended up moving stuff into the unit around 9:30 pm. There was a man there, he did not appear to be the security guard. He left the door propped open with wood slivers while. He stood with his back to the door on the phone with a cigarette. He also did not appear to be a customer nor work there. My biggest issue is that he propped the door for a good length of time (15 minutes??) after dark. It did not feel secure. I’m not sure why he was there but he was not moving anything. If he’s a security guard, my suggestion would be he does not prop the door open because that defeats the entire purpose of needing a key card to get inElizabeth P. | First Impressions

The reservation time for my truck ended and I could not add additional time due to the next reservation. This cost me an additional $50.00.
