We arrived at the facility before 7:00pm, we notified the employee that we would be cutting it close. When my wife arrived at 6:57 pm as she was walking in the employee on duty refused to help her and directed her to check in via online. She was short in tone and obviously in to big of a hurry to help. We thus had to keep the 26’ Truck for the entire weekend because of this. Which put our things at high risk being that I had To fly out the next day, so had to park it at a hotel until Sunday. The when returning, the young man who helped me was VERY NICE! but when I went to use my code and key and I didnt Work. Fun Aly after and hour of calling and complaining (it magically started working) I need Some sort of compensation extension on my rental or something. I’m a social Media influencer and have a far reach, then the manager FINALLY called today with and attitude with my wife. Giving excuses about she has a child etc etc.. Rodnai was her name. The provided access card did not allow access to the bathroom on the first floor in the storage facility. After normal business hours the access card would not work for the sliding doors. The young who manages this location, Rodnai Drew, was absolutely wonderful!! Her knowledge and professionalism were without blemish!!! She explained everything and did all she could to ensure I was served well and happy. I will return to her location even if logistically inconvenient!! She made the process as stress free as it could have been!! Thank you Ms. Drew!!!! The real issue I had with the rental experience was with the call center, who provided me with a wrong quote! My mileage estimation was ok, however the young lady at the 800 number failed to inform me that the rate would change due to the day of the week/number of hours I kept the truck. This resulted in the price quoted being off. Ms. Drew was so pleasant and professional in explaining it, I couldn't beef about it. She apologized even though the error was out of her hands. Used the online sign in and it assigned me a room that was already rented to someone. That facility is very poorly run. Your system availability does not match what is actually free. Also I rented a 5x10x10 off the website recommendation that it would be big enough to fit a 1-2br 1200sft apartment and that was a complete lie. I have to rent another unit because it was so small. Out of 9 curtesy carts they only had 3 mattress carts which were still to small to move my mattress and one flat cart that had a broken wheel. I did self check in and it assigned me a unit that was already rented and had a lock on it. When I went back to get another one that was bigger that one was also rented already even though it said it was available on their system. The person at the desk didn’t know what they were doing. Forgot to give me my keycard. And the bathroom would not unlock for us even though after swiping the card it said it was unlocked. Keys weren't in truck after checked in on touchless online account until we stood in line for 30min INSIDE in crowded store! A truck was blocking our truck leaving so a cashier had to leave building to go find keys to move & ask yard guy to give keys for our truck! Online check in was a lie & waste.sarah J.
My vehicle was reserved at this location- when I arrived at 9 am they told me it was at a different location. I went to that location and the truck that was supposed to arrive the day before was not there. No one alerted me I was going to have no truck. The employee basically said sorry good luck someone will call you. Luckily the other location still had a truck I could use. Someone did call me 2 hours later saying there was a truck available 1 hour away. This was terrible customer service. This was one of the worst experience ever in dealing with a business where you are renting something. The girl that worked behind the counter Jasmine I think was her name gave us the vibe that she was pissed off and had a chip on her shoulder. Never even said hello. When I asked he a question about the van. She told me to go to uhal.com. I said I am here in a uhal place and I want you to find the answer. After 10 minutes of looking on the internet. She finally found the answer but I was not convinced it was an accurate answer. When we got the van. It was not very clean and the windshield was nasty with bug splatter all over. The van we rented got the job done but this experience at this location was very disappointing. Would never go back there again. Awful is the best word for this location.JOY B.

First I moved out of the storage on July 14th, 2021, with the assistance of the U-haul movers, and renting and paying for a U-haul truck on 7/14/21. When the U-haul movers finished, one of the movers gave me my 2 set of keys to the Lock, and NO LOCK!. I asked where was the Lock because they knew I was moving out (permanently). He told me it's still on the storage door. I couldn't believe it!. I finally was able to get through on the phone to U-haul, the first person said they would let someone know. Then a few days later I receive a late notice letter. I called again and the 2nd person said they will have U-haul on Capitol call me. I received another letter the next day with late charges. Not being able to go to the storage myself, because I just started a new job and the time's of operation conflicted with my new work schedule. My move from Raleigh using U-Haul was literally a nightmare!! I booked my reservations over the phone with a U-Haul representative for a 20-foot truck on 6/10; however, on 7/29, the day before the movers were scheduled to load the truck, I was told that they only had a 15ft truck within a 100-mile radius of Raleigh available and that the contents of my two-bedroom apartment would fit. If I wanted the 20 ft. truck, I would have to drive an hour and a half to pick it up. I was willing to do that but when I called the location, they told me they did not have any trucks at all. Well not all the contents of my apartment would fit into the 15ft truck. I hauled some of the contents to Virginia on 7/30 Saturday morning and had to return to Raleigh on Sunday to get the rest of my furniture. I also booked moving labor through U-Haul and those guys arrived over two hours late on my load day. Asked to be paid through cash app so they did not have to pay the U-Haul fee. I Rescheduled them the following weekend for a 7:30am appointment to pick up my remaining items and the moving help never showed up and did not answer or return my call. They sent me a text message 3 hours later saying they had car trouble. I additionally booked an auto transporter for my move and the rep that I reserved it with over the phone told me that it was $59; however, when I went to pick it up, I was charged $177 and the rep told me that it was because I was taking it from Raleigh to Virginia. Well, the rep that I made the reservation with should have informed me of that. I also booked a approx. 10 x 20 storage unit with U-Haul, but when I arrived on my reservation day, thy only had a 10 x 10 unit available which was too small. Some of my items were moved into the unit because I needed the space in the truck to load my furniture that was still in Raleigh. U-Haul caused me to have to pay triple for moving labor, and double for gas and I had to take a day off from work. I called and placed a complaint and was told that someone would call me within 24 â€“ 48 hours. That was on 8/2 and as of 8/12 I have not heard back from a manager. At the very least U-Haul needs to reimburse me for the extra gas and refund my money paid for the truck. And oh, they also charged me the 20-foot truck price but gave me a 15-foot truck.JOEANN P.
The lady over there asked me to leave the key in the truck to let her check me out at a later time and she promised me to provide return confirmation via email by the day end. I did not receive any email and visited the store again the next day to get an update. She started claiming that I did not leave the key in the truck and, thus, she could not check me out. She also asked me to pay for the key if I do not have it. Even though I repeatedly told her that I left the key in the truck, she was not ready to accept it. I then retrieved the key right from the same truck. She then check me out without any sign of remorse or a simple "Sorry". To improve your service, please fire the unfriendly lady over there. This was a very poor experience. I reserved a truck weeks in advance to just how up and learn it was not available due to a flat fire. There was no call/email in advance to let me know. The blankets I reserved were not ready and we had to wait on that and there was a self moving fee charge of $40.....which I really don't understand especially since U-Haul is for self movers. Provided a new, low mileage truck (<4,000 miles) but it turns out the A/C did not work. I discovered this only after packing the truck and starting my 12 hour drive from NC to FL. Terrible experience! The truck hood was also not fully latched when they gave me the truck, which I discovered when I arrived at my home. The workers seemed "put out" to load my car on the car transport, even though I did pay for that service. When returned truck after hours(which stated took after hrs returns) -when we tried it wouldnt let us-diverted us to a place 15 miles away. When plugged in info online would not accept it b/c said end miles were less then starting miles-even though we took picture of odometer. Total cluster you know what from start to finish. Truck was filthy and not cleaned! I tried telling the mgr at the location and she would not listen! Pretty much told me that is what I was assigned to. It had gloves and hair in the seating area. Completely ridiculous! Following day when I went to get the Auto Transport hooked up on the car, no one was available. The location was suppose to open at 7:00am and she was not there! Myself and other customers were all waiting outside till 7:45am when that same rude and incompetent mgr at the location showed up! How do you get to work 45 mins later on a Saturday when you know its the busiest day of the week? I am giving U-Haul the national chain a VERY poor rating. The local people were nice and tried to accommodate a poorly run-company. Yolanda , which I assume was from your National cust service center, sent me to the Capital Blvd location from the original Chapel Hill location where the pods were to be stored. She reserved a 10x10x10 unit. I also called back to get another unit since the 10x10x10 was not large enough. I reserved a 7X23.5X6. When my movers arrived at the Capitol Blvd location. There was not place to park the truck. I had to drive around to finally find a place to park my car. There was one guy working the desk and a long line. It was chaotic. When i gave my reservation to the young man, I was then told the only units at that location were 5X5X6 units. I could possibly get four different units. He was not sure if they were rented or not. I had to walk to the units to see if they were actually open and not rented out. What kind of system makes reservations but actually does NOT have what you reserved? Moving is so stressful and to have this debacle from U-Haul is highly unprofessional and unacceptable. I am so frustrated that I even used U-Haul. I would have been much better off going with a less crowded, closer storage unit. The stress of being told my six pods were cancelled, I did not think that I no longer needed to be with U-Haul! Upon setting up my storage unit at this location, my account was not set up correctly twice within the span of 3 months. I almost had all of my stuff moved out of my storage unit 2 times because the previous staff did not file the proper paperwork in order to secure my unit. This after each time, I verified with them before leaving the location making sure there was not anything I needed to sign or check. Yet, despite this they still failed input my information properly. However, I will say that with the new management that came in this location has gotten a lot better than it was before. I just had a horrific experience upon moving into the unit. The main reason I am leaving such a review is because I had to put a majority of my belongings into storage while waiting for my house to be built. When I closed my account yeasterday the key to my unit did not work. I was told if I lost my key I would have to call a lock smith. I the mean time as i waited with professional moving crew that cost $129/ hour TWO OTHER people came in and complained that they could not get into their storage units for the same reasons. One of the persons has 2 units and couldn’t get into either and cut his own locks off. Finally some one with U-Haul came and Grided my lock off. it took an hour and cost me $129 for movers to sit and wait. I’m also concerned about the security of the building if locks can be changed or switched without my knowledge!!William F. | Overall Experience

I was very pleased with the service that I received. The unit was large and clean and I feel safe entering the storage unit. The service associate Justice was very courteous, professional and was able to expedite me obtaining my storage unit. The store was very busy and he worked quickly to assist all of the customers while the General Manager stood outside doing nothing but watch the line of customers grow. When the General Manager decided to come inside to assist, her behavior displayed that she really was not too happy about working. Justice meanwhile went above and beyond and seem to really enjoy his job in helping others. Justice is definitely Managerial material and this was one of the most pleasant and fastest transactions I have received in customer service!CHERI J. | First Impressions
I showed up before closing and got a unit. I was then given a code that didn’t work and then the office closed and refused to help me move in order to move my stuff in that night. I reserved my unit online to find out the units I reserved/paid for were someone else’s units. They had to find an open one for me to use in which was beside a mechanical unit that was leaking into the unit the moved me to. I ended up spending 3 hours more than I needed to at this facility due to the poor maintenance and lack of organization. I will never recommend this place.Alexa W. | Online Move In

Booked a storage unit in person and the person working there gave me a storage unit that was already in use on the first floor. Since they did not have storage units of our size on the first floor, they then assigned us one on third floor. This unit was also in use by another customer. The staff was not super helpful throughout the process and had a slight attitude when issuing the refund for the lock I purchased. I had originally moved in back in December. I was a key card and allowed to move my stuff into the unit. However, when I tried my key card one night it didn’t work. When I came the next morning their was an extra lock on my unit. Come to find out, the employee who signed me in the day I moved in didn’t do anything other than open up to unit for me. I was very unhappy with my experience in storing my household items at the U-Haul down town Raleigh facility. Upon moving my items into my new home, I came to realize that I had a roach infestation that had occurred in my pack boxes I stored there for 5 months. I put in a complaint and it was not resolved successfully, after submitting a claim requesting to have my new home exterminated. The $125.00 estimate to have my home exterminated was denied by their RepWest insurance company that's supposed to help with U-haul customer complaints. Saying that no negligence was found on the behalf of U-Haul. This determination I disagree with, because they should maintain their property by having it treated for insects to avoid these type of occurrences. Before submitting this review I made one last effort to reach out to Management and got no response. So, since the company has emailed me asking about my U-haul experience, I'm left with no other choice but to be honest and say... It's been a very disappointing experience with storing my items at U-Haul downtown Raleigh on Capital Blvd and I will not ever be using U-haul services again in the future.REMONA B. | Overall Experience

Staying here only based on convenience. The storage area was completely trashed -- random things just piled up in the common area in the entrance. The reservation time for my truck ended and I could not add additional time due to the next reservation. This cost me an additional $50.00.
