Stuart MI've been renting Uhaul trailers for many years - including occasionally from this location - but for the first time EVER a store rep refused to rent me the trailer UNTIL my wife (who is my backup contact) answered her phone. The rep told me it didn't matter that I had rented many times before. She left a message for my wife and said she would not rent to me until my wife called back - even if she was in an hour long business meeting. I sent my wife (who was at work) a text and then called her and luckily, she answered. She indicated that the Uhaul call had displayed as "Possible Spam". The rep then called her again and only then moved forward with the rental. The rep indicated she was just following policy, If so, this is a ridiculous policy for established renters and must be changed! I felt like I was a suspicious ex-con! If my wife had been in a business meeting, the rep would have made me wait until my wife was available because she was afraid of using her personal judgement in such a situation. I will try my best to avoid this location for all future rentals and inform friends to do the same. By the way, I was sent to this location when the first location didn't have the reserved trailer - but that is another issue that a phone rep already addressed.

David JThis review is for the U-Haul Neighborhood Dealer at Allure on 2341 W Roosevelt Rd Chicago, IL 60608. My truck never showed up at my designated pickup time and the phone number for this location was disconnected. There was also no U-Haul attendant there to speak with. This left me to be on hold with U-Haul corporate for almost 2 hours trying to find out where my truck is and how I would be able to get a different truck that day. I also visited the nearby U-haul location for assistance on 1500 S Blue Island Ave Chicago, IL 60608 United States and the lady on the front desk could not have cared less about the issue we were facing and would not even bother to contact a superior or get in contact with that location. After finally settling we were not going to be able to get our truck from the confirmed and agreed location we were forced all the way to Bellwood which is 45 minutes of heavy traffic each way from our location. The truck was there this time and ready to pick up at least. The only issue we faced once getting the truck was that is smelled like death both inside and out.

Marsheila B | Overall ExperienceWater leaked into my storage unit consistently every time it rained. I’ve complained about it several times. To points I had to throw away plenty of items that cost extensive amounts of money. Not only that, as I was moving out I found I rat in my unit which was incredibly alarming. When I alerted a staff member of this issue, she stated “there is an infestation after a building was tore down.” However there was never an alert, email or notification that was sent out. Once again, I found rat pellets through my items and things tore up by the rat. Which again resulted in having to throw away several items. This was an absolute poor experience and traumatizing to say the least. I would never rent with U-Haul ever again. I hope I could get some type of reimbursement for all the things I’ve had to throw away.

rasalva cEvery time I rent a vehicle, I’m always over charged, from what I’m quoted. I rent vehicles a lot from U-Haul, and always get charged for miles that I know that I haven’t driven. I think you guys have you vehicles rigged. I was quoted on $113 2 days ago and was charged $149.
PATRICK JKeith at this facility is excellent and wonderful to work with. The place is awesome clean and everyone willing to help. The lot area was spacious and easy to pull in and out. The office was excellent. In booking this moving van I was scheduled to pick it up In Broadview Illinois and I confirmed that with the store and customer service. The day before I keep getting text messages from U-Haul to pick up the van in melrose park which is not convenient nor a place I would go to to rent. I called the Broadview store and it went to customer service. They were not helpful in fact one lady was out right ruin and did not care anything about my concern. They transferred me to Broadview store and this man could not care less that my reservation pick up changed stating only 10 minutes from Broadview which I knew that but I did not have a way to get there but I could walk to broadview location. He transfers me to melrose store and this person was new - his words- and had no idea how to help me. Being absolutely frustrated and needing a van I kept the reservation at melrose but started calling around for other options. All this while driving and pulling a U-Haul trailer. When I got back to Bellwood to return your trailer I asked Keith if he had a 15 fr van for Saturday I could rent because everyone told me nothing available near me only melrose park. Keith took the time and guess what had a van I could use. He cares and trying to understand which no one else did. Saturday I pick up the van and all good except I get text messages all day from melrose to pick up van which Keith canceled that reservation. Once again driving and text after text messages. I called customer service and the woman was extremely nice and helpful. Way to many text messages from U-Haul. The drop off location was perfect. Keith and Bellwood people are wonderful the Broadview team extremely disappointed with them and customer service was hit or miss. Most were excellent but a couple were terrible could not care less about my concerns.

Agents helped us find the best deal AND told us that a brand new van would be available if we waited a few more minutes. After a frustrating start, we drove away in a pristine van with less than 50 miles on the odometer.

STEVEN MAfter waiting 10 minutes in the designated area, no one came out to unhook the trailer from my car. I had to go inside and found 2 employees at the counter talking to each other. I let them know I was outside to drop off my trailer and went back out. After another 10 minutes waiting, I decided to unhook the trailer myself and left. Terrible customer service.

No matter who picks up the phone, the associates are always friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help! I’ve had to change dates and times to get into my Uboxes and all sorts of things and they have been nothing but kind to me. Again, this is the best Uhaul location I have ever encountered. They have it together because some places are just pure chaos with rude associates who don’t know anything but this location truly stands out and I’m grateful!

Central agent approved my additional day stating I would be charged for $19.99 for additional day and would not incur extra ($87.00) providing I do not go over 200 miles. The Bellwood location charged me approximately $187.00 for two days and approximately 112 miles. I spend a great deal of money for rental trucks and rental storage. I am very upset and concerned.

MARTIN RTook over a half hour to see anyone at the service desk to get the key. The first truck had a check engine light. It was almost full. Then the next truck was at 1/2 and we brought it back at 1/2. We only went 14.5 miles and they charged us 5 gallons of gas. We didn’t think we needed to add any gas because we made 2 trips and didn’t go very far. I called and was originally told it was their mistake because they went off the first trucks gas amount. Then after sending her the pics I received an altered receipt and the $25 was not removed from the bill. We’ve used U-Haul many times never really had an issue and didn’t really thing to much into it since it was so close. It was extremely bad weather as well. I just won’t go to that location again.

The guy at the desk took three times to understand what I was saying, that I had done everything online and just needed to know how to get into the unit. He couldn’t read the facility map because the print was so small. Then failed to tell me how to use the security panels. So I had to figure out everything on my own.

This Maywood facility is exceptional, the staff have ALWAYS been great and super helpful. The facility is always clean, the lights all work great and even the restrooms were always clean and well stocked. I have recommended this facility to several people and would continue to do so. But when I got there that room was occupied with another person's lock. And the room next door to it 1332 was available with a new green moving tag on it. So there was just a little confusion on my move-in day. I had to wait till the next day to get everything rectified. And the process to change units was painless. The staff was very helpful.

(My only issue was the faulty like I purchased and put on the unit). But that has nothing to do with the facility. Overall I would highly recommend anyone to use this facility for storage and rental equipment. Thanks to all staff that assisted me while I was a customer.

The 2 agents helping me were both new and it took some time to fix the problem. I had to leave to make it to another facility to pick up A truck that was not available at the first store.

I either got a smaller storage from what i originally picked or just picked wrong size. Jasmin was so nice and helped me pick a bigger storage and closer to the loading dock.
