I arrived at the location at 6:30, they did not open until 7. When I went to put my key in the key drop an employee was collecting the dropped off keys. There was nothing to put my key in so I would have had to just put it in the slot and hope they could figure out that my car was there to have a hitch installed. Instead the employee opened the door, 1/2 hour before the opening hour on the door, and took care of me. So happy that I didn’t have to worry that they found my key.

Turn in was basically issue free all though a gentleman pulled up in plain clothes and a mini-van and asked if I had any questions. He also gave me a detail of the turn in process, said he had to stop in after hours and said he could take the keys. He was very friendly and nice, all though when I left I was thinking "should I have done that?" Not sure what a fix to that would be as he was just trying to help and do customer service while off hours. But I did call the next day just to make sure the Uhaul was not now a stolen, mobile disco :) Probably the best route in that situation (which would be rare, employee on site after hours) would just have the employee point the customer to the key drop. Again the gentleman was very courteous, friendly and helpful. This was more of a Uhaul/Customer security issue.

This location was very understaffed for the amount of rentals going through that day. We were there for 30 minutes just to pick up a trailer. Employee, Jesse, was super nice and calm though. He did a great job handling the situation as best as he could.

It was very inconvenient to use this location for pickup since I live across the street from the W Washington location. Additional flexibility to have rental pickups between store locations would be helpful.

I thought the online reservation and automated pickup would be more convenient, but it was quite cumbersome and took more time than working with someone inside. It's also frustrating picking up a truck that does not have a full tank of fuel - seems like a gimmick to get customers to pay for more fuel than they use (because knowing how much fuel you've consumed means you'll overshoot the mark every time).

When I reserve a 26 foot truck several weeks in advance of my move date, and the website says my reservation is guaranteed, then I expect a 26 foot truck to be waiting for me when I arrive. Instead I was told by tech support through the mobile app that there was no 26 foot truck set up for 24/7 pickup and that I would need to either go to another location or take a 10 foot truck. The tech was very helpful, but this situation should never have happened in the first place. So instead of making one trip with a 26 foot truck, I had to make three trips with a 10 foot truck, thereby tripling my mileage charge. At 79 cents a mile, that adds up quickly! Not to mention the added hassle and the fact that the ten foot trucks don't have loading ramps, which my truck was supposed to have.

The only complaint I have is that I ordered the truck from Deerfield (which was much closer to me) but had to go all the way to Madison and drive back to my location!! That was inconvenient but the rest of the deal was ok.

First attempt at rental, the day before, your registration system crashed. Couldn't rent anything then. I'd look into that. Your programmers aren't testing their stuff well enough before putting it into production. That's coming from a old programmer. . . from back in the days when we actually had some control.

They charged me a towing fee that I had already paid to the tow company. They also charged me a one way fee that they didn’t explain prior to charging my card. The equipment that broke down was theirs. Roadside assistance had to be called multiple times. My trip was delayed by eight hours waiting for roadside assistance to arrive. While I was broken down Ethan called and told me that I was inconveniencing another customer. Really?

I had to stop half way through my trip because the low break fluid indicator came on. The place I stopped, another U Haul facility, told me the break lines were loose.

The reservation turned out to be bit of a mess-up. I reserved for Monday morning at 8 a.m. When I checked on SaturdaY before, the location had been moved to Stuff N Store Monday at 10:30. This was too late. So I called the reservation hotline and asked that it move back to McFarland. they couldn't, but they said I could pick up Saturday at 3:00pm. Since I had 4 days to get to North Dakota that would work, but I would have to make arrangements to store the truck somewhere. When I went to Stuff N Store turns out they were closed at 2pm Saturday. Called the number in the window, no answer and no one showed up at 3pm. Instead I went to Atlas Ave location and was able to make a reservation to pick up Monday a.m., like I wanted. I also called the McFarland location and they had a truck available as well. So why move the location to a time that I didn't want????? I was not happy. And while everything worked out it stressed me out for 1/2 day on Saturday. Moving is stressful enough and moving my son to North Dakota and all, it was unneeded. Would like to know why the heck my original reservation was changed.

I had insurance on the vehicle to cover damages. I took a turn too tight by a loading dock and damaged the right panel. My debit card was charged for the full amount of repairs (over 2500.00). This was our entire savings. What is the insurance for?

This is the BEST U-haul in Madison. They are easy and pleasant to work with, and they are always on top of their A-game. Even when this location is not conveniently close, I am willing to drive to them because there are consistently excellent.

i rented the truck with 5/8 of a tank and returned it with 5/8 of a tank, however the person checking the truck in felt it was a mouse hair's short of 5/8 of a tank and had an issue with it. i took a photo of the gas gauge and showed it to the people working at the counter, who all agreed the gauge was at 5/8 inch yet the check in person continued to argue with me. the manager was standing by the whole time this was occuring and did literally nothing. every experience i have with Uhaul is bad. i don't understand how this company stays open.

The only problem was my pick up location was changed. I went the the location one mile away where I had originally scheduled and they said another location picked it up yesterday and I had to go there. Very inconvenient and it added 5 extra miles to my route. This was disappointing

When driving the pickup truck in reverse, the movement surges suddenly. I would rather have control over a slow move backwards, instead of jerking back too fast. Otherwise the pickup truck was a pleasure to drive on main highways and neighborhood streets.

Third time I’ve rented equipment from Uhaul. Truck was clean but 106,000 miles On the highway at 60mph it was loud and had trouble maintaining speed. Not sure what happened with the gas either. Drove 43 miles. Stopped to fill it up and it took 10 gallons of gas. $28.00 Not sure if it was not topped off or 4mpg. Done Your fleet is old and needs replacing. Next time I will find a company with more modern equipment.

I was impressed by ALL of the staff at this location. Kind, courteous, funny, and very helpful. I should also add that I dropped off my truck with two 6-year-old girls in tow and they were a bit rambunctious. I tried my best to keep them calm but I never felt like it was an issue. The folks behind the counter were patient and even warm with the children and very understanding and generous about letting us loiter there for an exrtra 45 minutes (I had forgotten my keys and we had to wait for my neighbor to pick us up). Great place.

I made my original reservation online for a different location at 7652 Conifer Court, Deforest, WI 53532. I received a confirmation email. when i arrived to pick up my trailer they did not have it. they stated that it was at a different location. i never received any notification that the original location had changed. i had to drive 15 miles out of my way to pick it up.

Train your staff on proper customer service. The clerk who "helped" me was not at all helpful! He did the minimum amount of work to complete the transaction, did not accurately enter my information despite having my ID card. He offered no explanation of the equipment's use and said " you good?" before turning around and walking away. When I yelled can you tell me how to use this, he turned around and said I asked you if you were good. When I returned he did not offer me a receipt. I had to go inside and ask another employee for help. That gentleman provided proper customer service. I will not return to this location. I only went because a closer location did not have the equipment available that I needed on the same day. I will wait for the closer location to have the equipment transferred to their location. I do not understand how employees with no customer service skills are put out front like this. This employee has every right to smoke, but the overwhelming odor on him was off putting.He also lied about our interaction when he came in while the better employee was helping me track down a receipt for the return of the equipment. I will not support a business that is not ethical.

Had a pickup at Watts rd. The guy didn't show up. After 45 min and a couple of phonecalls we were directed to Atlas Ct on the other side on the town. We got a larger truck who didn't fit in our driveway (for the same price). Nobody apologized. After complaining they lowered the milage fee from 1.19 c to 99c. Wow, we saved 6 dollars there, but haved to drive a longer distance!

My experience was less than below average due to the fact that there was a light snow in Madison and the U-Haul vehicles that I was driving did not have front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Therefore I slipped constantly.

They said I went 67 miles in the pickup truck. I barely used 15 miles. It wasn’t properly verified. This is the second time U-Haul tried to screw me over on miles. They have gone downhill and super over charge you on their rentals.

Everything was ready and in good shape, not including the snow that covered the bottom of the trailer. We had just had a lrage amount of snow, so as expected, trailers had snow in the beds. It didn't take too long to clear, it just would have been a faster process had the snow been removed before I arrived.

The only thing i would recommend is to put a hitch stand on the 12x6 inclosed trailers, before one of your employees throws out a back. Theses trailers have a lot of weight on the hitch.

I was directed to go to 710 Cottage Grove Rd where there was no one in attendance to check me in. The truck i reserved wasn't there, the equipment and moving materials are orders where not there.
