Customer service wasn't professional. I've never rented an Uhaul before and the young man walked me outside gave a dolly I requested at rent time of uhaul, saying the one I rented wasn't available. Then pointed to a line of trucks and said that one is yours. I said ok he said make sure you do a walk around. I put the dolly in the truck. And didn't give me no instructions for drop off. First of all the guys at the counter were cool but sat on their phones 90% of the time I was there. Second we get in the truck and it's filthy. There was cigarette ash all over the place and exposed razor blades just all around the truck. Then when I get back I only used 1/8 of gas tank. They said it will be $10 fill up charge. I was appalled by the condition of the van that I rented. It was filthy. It smelled of cigarette smoke and had cigarette ashes. Shame on U-Haul in the middle of Covid that this van was obviously not disinfected. If it was disinfected it was a poor effort.The manager never apologize for the condition of the van. She in fact blamed me for not coming back into the office and getting another van. I was running late and there were people waiting on me . When we reserve equipment in advance and are told the day before that it will be locked in the truck, then it should be in the truck when we arrive to pick it up. It wasn't, though, so we had to wait two hours for the store to open to get the equipment we reserved. Also, the truck was dirty, had been defaced by a previous customer, and was so old that it had trouble going up even small hills with nothing loaded in the truck.Michelle R.

There was an issue with the electronic entrance to my unit for the first 2 months of our experience, which meant I could not access the unit after 7pm, which did not adhere to the posted schedule I had signed up for. I brought it to the attention of management and they said they were working on fixing it & apologized for the inconvenience. But upon asking for some sort of bill reduction, I was told they’d have to ask the facility head. Ivory ever got back to me & I was given the runaround a few times. That’s not right. Not giving me access at times outside my personal work hours really resulted in a terrible experience. Additionally, I showed up 10 minutes before the office closed one night & asked the staff member in duty if he could help me get into my unit as my card wasn’t working. He said he couldn’t because he was closing up. Again, awful customer service & completely inappropriate foe the staff member to value their closing over a customers needs while they were still open. While the door issue was eventually fixed, it was too little too late. We’ve since moved to another facility in the area & are having a much better experience. Well my reservation was for the Pleasant st Uhaul in Fall River. The truck I reserved was not available for me at the time. Which in turn sent me to East Providence. So now I was charged for the extra miles and fuel. Not happy about the situation..Richard C.
The staff at the East Providence, RI location are excellent, providing excellent customer service. Dawn went above and beyond to help me when I arrived it was noted that the call and reservation center did not send my storage rental information to them so they could get my ubox out of storage so I could have it transferred to a storage unit. They also gave me wrong information about what a split level unit is; luckily once again Dawn at the site location saved me from climbing stairs to get to a unit. Very unprofessional of UHAUL Call Center! If not for Dawn who went out of her way to get my ubox out from being buried among other uboxes, I would have been out $200 for the movers I had arranged. Thank you Dawn!!! As for the UHAUL Call & Reservation Center HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! The storage facility at East Providence is clean but two things I didn't like: 1. street level storage units have very low ceilings, smell damp and there is no lights so the units are dark. 2. there is no elevator for above street level storage or split levels which is ridiculous!! don't know about lighting because I didn't look at those units.janet t. | Overall Experience
Staff is super friendly and helpful. If you make a reservation online for rental or storage, be sure to contact the office location directly. Online service doesn't always communicate with the pick up location. This makes everyone's job that more difficult and time consuming working out the details. The trailer chains were very long. The quick-links were thread-locked tight. Never adjusted. They just twisted the chains untill they barely dragged. I tow a boat every summer, and I know this is totally unacceptable. I personally redid them, in the rain. adjusted the quick-links properly, and tucked up the remaining chain using my own caribeeners. These quick links were so tight with the thread lock, I can confidently say they have never been adjusted. Twisting the chain will weaken its breaking strength, causing a severe safety hazard.I explained this to the drop off site as well. They need retraining at the rhode island office.James G.

I am usually one who is very open-minded and fair given the state of our world these days taking into account all of the precautions needed that was a non-issue my issue with that I drove 2 hours from New Hampshire to Rhode Island to help my daughter move I reserved the truck I had everything ready and I came into the store and it took 40 minutes waiting in line to get the truck which significantly impacted my move time at the other end when I get in to be 15 foot truck and started the thing up there was a awful sound and nobody was available nobody came out with me to walk around the vehicle the person who handled my transaction was very pleasant he was extremely helpful in a counter portion once I got to the counter every experience I've ever had with U-Haul which I use you guys constantly has been relatively simple and has been quick and efficient those were my thoughts when making the reservation before coming out there my problem is being a customer from out of state and not having associate come outside with me which is something that I have never seen happened before to verify the condition of the vehicle before I drive it off the lot so anything can be said about the vehicle once it's returned and it may or may not be a negative or a positive for the rental customer being myself I don't think there are enough staff on weekends in this location you have the two people at the counter handling the customers in the store having to leave the counter go outside to do whatever is needed outside which takes time and then come back in and finish the transaction per customer and when you've got seven people waiting to pick up Vehicles it's a really frustrating situation I'm a very patient person I am getting ready to move and I currently have a storage unit in Fremont New Hampshire iPad for 6 months and my intention was to rent another U-Haul truck from my move on October 9th I am very seriously considering using another truck rental company at this point I paid a lot to rent that truck I brought it back with more gas in it then I left with and it was clean and then I get you know this message telling me that if the truck isn't swept out I'm going to be charged additional fees it was just an overall very unpleasant experience and to say the least I was disappointed what's how much time of my time that got eaten upPAMELA B.

The contactless pickup process is a mess! I used this for my visit and it took me 45 minutes to get my keys because when filling out the forms in the app, there is no mention that they will call your alternative contact. If the contact can't be reached the process can't continue. I tried chatting with the representative and it would take 15+ minutes for a response. On top of that, at the end you still have to go into the store and get the key, so not true contactless pickup!NICHOLAS I.
