Made my reservation at one location apparently it was â€œmovedâ€ to another due to equipment issues. Never received a phone call stating so it was moved, Customer service at both locations very pour and unprofessional!Brad D.
I waited in the drop off area, as the sign said to stay with the truck and a representative would be out to assist. I waited for 10 minutes and then went inside to find assistance. When I walked in there were no other customers and the two workers both had their heads down and were both on their phones. They barely spoke to me and just took the keys with no questions or further information from me. They didn't do any type of check on the vehicle while I was there.SHAELYN M.

Truck cab was dirty, smelled of cigarettes, with old food sitting in the cup holders. Only had a little over a quarter tank of gas. Check out process via the web took 15-20 minutes to just verify my ID - would have been faster to just go into the office.Darin J.

I had big problems with my return. They had me going to the DePere location. When I arrived, they told me they weren't accepting trailers. Obviously, not my problem since I went to the correct placemat the correct time. I had to go 55 minutes out of my way to return to a different location. I should not have done this. I should've just left the trailer where I was originally scheduled to leave it. It left me late for a very important appointment I had. To be honest, it ruined my day. Your problem, your mistake, suddenly became my problem. Good customer service would've never let this happen. They should've accepted my trailer at the location on my contract and moved it themselves. For them to ask me to do that for them was terrible customer service. I did it because I am a nice guy. I reserved a covered 6x12 on Saturday afternoon. Picked it up Sunday morning. Process was quick and easy. The U-haul associate did all the heavy lifting. He made sure the coupling was correct and secured properly. Then this morning when I returned the trailer again the associate did all the heavy lifting. All in all the experience was great.Thomas W.
An employee at this location told me to go to the De Pere location instead (10 miles away!) where they would be able to store and take the truck back. We drive 3 hours (and 3 hours back later that night) to then have to drive to De Pere where the employee seemed helpful telling us we can store here and he will transfer the truck drop off. Well he ended up refusing to transfer the truck drop off and made us go to a THIRD location (and wouldn't even find the address for us, I made him point to google maps on my phone of where to go) another 10 or 15 miles away that when I got there the mobile drop off wouldn't work cause it said I was at the WRONG LOCATION! The store manager there waived the extra mileage and gas usage because of the extra 2 locations we were made to drive to by neglectful and unhelpful employees. Moving weekend long distance is already tiring and U-Haul made it a nightmare for us. No looking forward to having to move our things out of storage in a month because it will be another bad experience.Brianna B.

Pleasantly surprised. My prior 2 experiences with Uhaul were far less than positive. Both times, I put in a reservation which was not held, and I was left without a vehicle for moving. I swore I would NEVER rent from Uhaul again. I found myself having to move (for work) once again after 11 years in the same house, and was left with little choice but to hope and pray Uhaul would come through. In this case, the rental was easy, fast, and well handled. Equipment was exactly as described, and my truck did a great job handling a completely full 6x12 trailer. Staff was pleasant an helpful. I was on my way in a matter of 15 minutes or less.Douglas D.

Uhaul called me less than 48 hours from the time of my reservation for hitch installation and trailer to tell me that my hitch was on back order for a few weeks. I received the call on a Wednesday and was suppose to have the hitch installed on my vehicle that Friday. I had my reservation scheduled over a week in advance to make sure that I would be able to drive back to PA that Saturday to start a new job. I was told by the manager, David Kamps, that the hitch would be expedited from another store first thing Thursday morning and it would arrive sometime Saturday, and if not, by Monday the latest. The hitch never arrived Saturday. I went into the store Monday morning to speak with the manager and he said the hitch was expedited SATURDAY, when I was originally told it was Thursday. When I questioned him about the days, he said â€œwhatever day it was.â€ Manager told me he would call me that same day to give me an update if it arrived or not. I never once got a call from him or anyone at the store, so I made arrangements with a completely different company to install my hitch, which I'm so happy I didn't have uhaul install it! I got a call from Ashleigh almost 2 weeks later to tell me that the hitch finally arrived and she wanted to follow up to see if anyone has been in touch with me about the hitch. I told her that the manager never called me and updated me, so I went to a different company. Ashleigh and Cory were very helpful with setting me up with a trailer and providing me with a discount due to the huge inconvenience. Ashleigh also gave me her personal number to call/text her with any questions I had regarding the hitch and trailer. It's very frustrating when you put your trust into a company/business, especially when they provide you with confirmations of something you're paying to have done. I had to postpone moving and my job by a couple weeks due to this. I hope no one has to do go through the stress that this store has put me through.Amanda B.
I don't think there is anything to improve on!! I reserved online, went to pick up and they helped me with a piece my car didn't have for the electrical and hooked everything up. Absolutely worst experiences I've ever had with a company. The app was supposed to be simple and convenient but took just as long if not longer than how it would have been in person. The chat representative was very slow and purposely delayed things to aggregate me because she knew I was in a rush. When all was done, instead of simply putting the keys away and leaving, there were all these steps. I just wanted to leave and go home even though this could have been done by the workers instead of me. To top it all off, the prices were absolutely outrageous. I just needed to pick up furniture 25 mins away that I bought online. Renting the van almost cost as much as the furniture I bought! I will never be using uhaul again and I rather go on Craigslist or contact a local Moving company to avoid this tedious process and horrible app/customer service experience. There’s ad bit of confusion about 24 hour access terms when I converted from a 5x10 storage to 10x10. The 10x10 requires contact with a CSR to rent while the smaller units were entirely contactless and automated almost instantaneously. This entire process was horrible. No one should get a call the day before they are moving telling them that a truck that they reserved weeks prior was available but that they would have to drive over 2hrs to pick up! Luckily, I had family coming from Green Bay, so they picked up a truck at this location and drove it over 3hrs to me in IL. The ladies at the IL facility Eileen and Wendy were very helpful in updating the reservation to a flat $350 with an additional $50.00 credit and calculated the mileage from GB to IL and included it in the rental for the inconvenience. My cousin's husband picked up the truck and was asked for a cc, I was told that my cc was on file and it would be charged, it was not. The new discounted charge wasn't honored and a dolly was added that I never asked for. Eileen had that fixed but the wrong card was still charged incorrectly, so I had to call in again on Sunday, only to talk to someone new that wasn't familiar with my issue. I spoke to Vince who read through my contract and gave me an additional $200 off which was to be charged to the IL office and said that I would have to talk to someone at the GB office the next day to give them the correct cc. By now it's Monday, I called again and spoke to someone, this time was told that I would have to talk to someone in Fl... nope! I never talked to anyone in FL, I live in IL and moved to WI, not sure how Fl ever got in this issue. Was then transferred to Ken who was able to reverse the charge and finally charge the correct cc. NO ONE should ever be called the morning before their move to tell them that there isn't a truck locally for them! Not only was I stressed about moving but now over the top stressed that I wouldn't have a truck. I understand that ppl are moving one way and not returning trucks but then there should be a HUGE warning on your website stating that. I now know that I checked a small box saying that a representative can call me if a truck might not be available but then don't allow for reservations! The people I spoke to were very helpful, the process needs to be modified especially with the crazy housing market!!!!!Rodney W.

I have used Uhaul in the past and have never dealt with someone so rude. Who ever worked yesterday when I came to get my storage unit at 2pm was very unprofessional. He was on a personal call when I walked in and continued to talk to them for a few minutes before telling the person to call them back because he had a customer as if I was an inconvenience to his time. He then proceeded to require a second contact name and number. Not once before have I had to provide this since I am a single adult. He then told me it was company policy to have 2 contacts. I get thay is normal in most cases cases but the fact that I had to provide my mother's information who lives in Florida was demeaning to say the least. Then when it came time to get my storage unit that was reserved he told me that just because something is reserved does not mean you actually have one. So after I just drove 17 hours I was told that I would just have to wait a unit to become available or use one they have which is a larger size. So originally my climate controlled 10 × 15 was 145 a month and the only one available that day was a 16 × 20 which was close to 300 dollars. I can't give the exact amount because he would not give me a receipt. He said it would be emailed. Still haven't received the email for that even though I ask for one. Once I had finished unloading my 20ft truck I asked for the receipt and to show that I had turned it in in the 19th since I was told the price of the truck was by day. He again refused to give me a receipt and told me it doesn't matter you aren't going to save any money any way. I have worked in customer service jobs before and I get people have bad days. But this man was rude, demeaning, and honestly just lazy. I will continue to call customer service until I speak to someone about this because never before have I been treated so poorly for no reason at all.Sarah B. | First Impressions

They screwed up my U-box numbers and now I'm being charged monthly for a a storage unit that I absolutely never reserved. They admitted the fault, and after 3 attempts to contact them to correct their mistake, I resorted to legal action through my bank to get the charges reversed. Unfortunately my unit is 2 small units versus the 1 larger unit I requested...which means 2 doors, 2 locks and a wall that lessens the available space. Also, there was NO clear explanation of the process to get into the building and the BLUE keypad versus the other ones that are there. It is simple now that I now the process, but it was very frustrating not knowing what to do and having an alarm sound when we opened the doors. I got a whole story about how they don’t know how I got my quote, even through the agreement clearly shows they quote me differently from what they expect me to pay. My unit had a lock free but I purchased one inside and was not allowed to return the free one. I Was told it would sit as a “credit” for next U-Haul on a “list.” Also, I moved out of the unit after hours. I Called U-Haul the next morning to finalize My move out. I was told I must come in person to check out. I drove across town on My lunch hour. The man asked my name clicked on a button and said ok you are checked out. SERIOUSLY???? That couldn’t havE been done without my trip across town He didn’t check the unit or anything.
