Customer service was utterly wretched. They were totally disinterested from the start. When I asked the clerks inside about after hours drop off, they just told me to go the app and didn't explain where anything was, such as the key drop off. They told me my U-Haul van I had reserved would be brought out, but your employee drove it way past me and then just left it there without telling me it was mine. When I went inside to ask if that's mine the clerks just shrugged and said go ask the guy outside. When I did, the guy outside seemed annoyed and insisted he had told me it was my van, but that I hadn't heard him. On top of that, the after hours drop off was ridiculous. The key drop off area is not clearly marked and the directions on your U-Haul app were wrongâ€”it said the key drop offs to the left of the drop off lane, but it's to the right. I was walking around in the dark looking fir the key drop off. I will *never* use you guys again.Jin-Ho C.

I never asked for a dolly, one was provided but never used. Yet I was charged $7. Additionally, I returned the tank with 3/8 fuel but you credited 1/2 tank. Thus ensuring the next customer would have to buy extra gas.Kevin M.

The check in guy was nice enough. He told me the other guy would pull my vehicle out front. When I got out front, some guy pointed to a place with 3 trucks. They were all parked in very close proximity to each other. He said, "That;s yours." I could not tell which one he was pointing at. I asked again and we proceeded in this fashion for about 4 turns. It would have taken much less time for him to just walk over and touch iit. He did not pull it out for me or go over any prior damage. I had to get another customer to help me pull the truck out. My problem is actually not with this location. I had originally reserved a pickup for the 4615 N Ravenswood location and there wasn't anyone there. Thinking maybe there was only one person I called the location phone and no one answered. Then I called customer service and while I was waiting I went and mailed some stuff at the nearby Devon post office. Finally after about a half hour someone picked up the phone. I told them my situation and they confirmed the location was supposed to be open. They said they were going to contact the supervisor of the location and put me on hold. Then a few other people showed up at the location and couldn't get their truck either because the lockbox was not working. Then I just got hung up without warning while I was on hold after almost an hour of waiting on the phone. More than mildly peeved, I called back and waited another hour while I searched for other locations nearby since it was clear at this point no one was just "out for a moment". It seems that all of your neighborhood stores are just scams. None of them in the area that I wanted to rent were open. Tons of trucks outside but no life inside. At that point I just decided to drive to a place like this that had storage and other uhaul facilities just so I could get a damned truck but I had to drive double the mileage on your truck because the uhaul locations that said they were open on your website and confirmed as supposed to be open by your customer service representative where not actually open. This is deceptive and delayed my move by over 3 hours and the people who were waiting to help me out by an hour. By that time customer service finally picked up I had already come to this location in Evanston and was waiting in line for another 30 minutes just to get a truck. I am very frustrated with this experience and angry that you are so woefully understaffed that you can't even keep your location open. I won't be using Uhaul anymore in the future. You just lost a customer because you can't pay your people enough to stay on the job. Congratulations corporate mis-management. You win. Enjoy the show.TOMAS A.

The location needs to spend some time cleaning truck cab interiors. I know there is high turnover, but this is something that the renter should not have to do. Otherwise, this is a great location and staff are really friendly and helpful.JAMES F.

The truck that I was assigned was completely blocked in by four other uhaul vehicles. It took over a half hour for another employee to move the trucks. My appointment was at 7am, right when the place was about to open but the employees seemed to try and avoid doing any work possible. Additionally, I had to ask for the pads and dollie that I had with my order even though I was told from my order summary that they would be ready in the car. The mobile check in is great but only works out if the employees at that location are on top of the prep work.Mark D.

The staff there corrected a B I G wrong from U-Haul regarding the snafu for scheduling a car transport. Please see the 2 complaints I have lodged, I believe it ultimately comes down to poor computer software, it did not show an active car transport reservation in the system.Margaret G.

Everything with the truck was fine, pretty smooth experience getting the vehicle and all that. Not particularly friendly, but no one was rude. I gave this poor review because they gave us a truck with less than 1/4 tank of gas, and told us we had to return it with the same amount, but then don't reimburse for any sort of overfill. We threw a couple gallons in there to make sure we got where we needed to go, but I have no idea how much gas is going to be used in a truck I've never driven, but I can't just hope they make it there with 1/4 tank of gas and then fill it up afterwards, that is just irresponsible. It clearly is baked into their system as a way to get people to overfill their gas so they are just receiving vehicles back with more than they started with, because you're definitely on the hook if you return it with less than it started, which is reasonable. But if I'm expected to return it with the same amount of gas, don't leave me out to dry with 1/4 tank of gas to start with.JASON S.

I waited at least a half hour to complete my van rental AND I was charged for milage AND the van AND had to replace gas used. The gas when I picked up the truck was at this odd level...in between 3/4 full and full. How am I supposed to know how much gas to put in?? Plus...you charge per mile AND gas? SHAME ON YOU. SHAME. SHAME. SHAME. I WOULD NEVER AGAIN RENT A UHAUL. THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS!! YOU LOST THIS CUSTOMER AND EVERY PERSON WITHIN RANGE OF MY VOICE :-(DONNA S.
The truck you rented me had a leak in one of the tires which was only discovered 2 hours on the road. I had to fill the tire three times. You charged me $127 for boxes I did not want, and I did not take, then said you gave me a credit because I did not take the boxes. The credit has yet to show up on my card. This morning I saw another $28 charge on my card--for what, I don't know. I will be contesting the cards on my card and filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.Dianne R.

The storage unit I was assigned was very close to the door so that we could move things in and out easily.
