JOHN DThe trailer had a balled tire when I went to pick it up, waited an hour to have them change it. Then I get home load it just to find out the ratchets for the tire straps would barely move. After spraying them down with wd-40 I was able to get them to move enough to work. The driver turn/brake light didn't work.

Alas, no matter which staff member I spoke to, they were helpful, genuinely nice and fixed my issue. I’m happy I chose college u-haul and would recommend to anybody needing not just storage but travelling, towing etc

This created a process of a smooth flow, simple and easy. There is a lot of talk about policies and the paperwork that comes with it when obtaining a storage unit I could fall asleep lol which can be a little too much at the time depending on your reason for getting a unit and the type of day your having. Elvis MMy only complaint is when calling the local store #, after 2 rings, the call is transferred to a national call center. The national call center is geared more towards truck rental and NOT helpful about local storage. The local facility is always helpful, immaculately clean, temperature controlled and easy to access.

Never had a problem I was handicapped in a wheelchair and they always provided help when I needed it when I went over to my storage unit and I never had a problem with U-Haul. STEVEN SRear door was iced shut but that the weather in Alaska when it rains then turns cold. The one complaint I do have and it’s partly my fault for not looking closer. I canceled the insurance when I booked the reservation but it was added back in when I picked the truck up. It’s only $15 but I feel cheated for it when I had already canceled it and then it was added back in at the pickup point.
Benny SI used a rolling cart to move my things to a bus stop about 20ft from the facility. I staff member came and demanded $15 for the cart while chastising me about sleeping in the unit. I have never slept on the property and only come to get my things and leave, as I did this time. I am a fulltime student at UAF and felt this behavior was utterly disrespectful as I had communicated my intentions, and emailed Management concerning my unit. This was disgusting. I'll never be back.

TIM Sbilled me for 3 days. I returned it in 2 days. They charged 1 day on card. I paid 2nd day with cash. they put 3 days on card. that's incompetence. Now I spoke I have to involve a spineless, idiot bank and stay passed while they try finding their backsides. Ernest
ERNEST SU-Haul Reservation system. tried to reserve a truck for Sept, in June, and UHaul app wouldn’t let me and multiple UH folks I spoke to said “Oh sir per company policy we can’t guarantee a truck until the day before your scheduled pickup.” That’s not acceptable for planning purposes. Gladly it worked out and the team at the F’banks College Rd store were great.
Darrell BOn the day of check out, I had to return to the office several times and wait five minutes before anyone made an appearance and when someone did show up, I was rushed out so they could take a smoke break.....facility roof had leaked and items in my storage got wet, moldy, and destroyed. Inquired about compensation, but nobody including the insurance were willing to help. Wound up losing some personal items and furniture to the dumpster rather than getting any type of compensation.

Eddie MWorst experience ever at a rental car company. Had a reservation set for over 4 months, even called and talked to the people before locking it in to make sure I was good to go where I was headed. Arrived on the day of pick up and NO vehicles available for my trip, not even in other weight classes. They let me rent a “day use” vehicle that was already spoken for, for a couple hours so I could get my daughter and our gear from the airport. They called and had a vehicle turned in earlier than expected at another facility. Went there only to find out it was a way bigger truck and they said I shouldn’t drive it on the dirt roads I needed to drive on (that I stated from the beginning). Said if anything happens to it even with insurance I would be buying the truck in its entirety. Found a hotel to stay in instead of being on the road and I’m trying to find anyone to rent me a vehicle. Pretty much everyone is sold out, triple the price, or won’t let me take it on the dirt roads where I need to go. Pretty much messed our trip right from the beginning. And they charged me full rate for the one I used for a couple hours. Thanks U-Haul, never renting from you again

BRADFORD BI can’t remember the persons name who helped me but at the 209 college road location but he was a black professional gentleman in customer service, I had to come in early for my reservation, it wasn’t ready, but for the job I was doing he recommended me a truck which was a better option and cheaper in the long run, give him a raise he deserves it.

DONALD NOld truck van, lots of deferred maintenance. But it ran, one day rental, not a big deal.
ELLIS HCEL and traction control warning lights on. Poor fuel economy (worse than expected, 8-9mpg unloaded, even bad for a box truck considering only 10’ box). Wiper blades damaged. Power steering squealing loudly at lock. Worst of all, was stopped by authorities and rerouted daily due to studded tires, which are illegal in AK after 01 May (picked up on 01 Aug), which more than doubled mileage (should have gone about 120-140 miles, was charged for over 300 miles) and caused the bill from U-Haul as well as fuel used be much higher than it should have been. Have had good experiences with U-Haul in the past, but not this time. Maybe try a different location.

Rachele V | Overall ExperienceThe reservation system is EXTREMELY flawed. I made a reservation over 2 weeks before pick up. I called a week ahead to confirm since Fairbanks, AK uhaul has a reputation for not providing their equipment on time. They stated NONE would be available at the reservation date. I asked them if any would be close to the original reservation date. He stated he could provide one 2 days later from original reservation date. I agreed. I called back days later to reconfirm and they then stated they could not rent their smallest trailer because the car i was using would not pull it. They knew the type car n size trailer during the first reservation and never stated their would be a problem. I angrily cancelled the reservation. I spent days stressing and tryin to purchase a trailer. Then i get a phone call stating they had a trailer for me and apologized for the incorrect info. THEY NEED TO BETTER TRAIN THEIR EMPLOYEES. In addition, the are making promises to provide a product and service when they know they cannot fulfill their obligation. TERRIBLE!!

The seat was really hard to adjust, one headlight was out, transmission fluid leaked on our driveway. All in all I am happy, we got the job done.

Sometimes I work till 8 then needed to return equipment to storage but I couldn't get it which meant my equipment stayed in my truck all night in the cold. You should extend access time to 9pm for those people that need later access. Everything else was awesome. Thank you for the great service.

I drove back and the truck was parked on the lot in line with the other trucks and keys missing. A different attendant found the keys and checked the trunk in for me and printed a final receipt.

Tyler J | Overall ExperienceI can not say enough good things about Uhaul. I became behind on my bill and Diane was willing to work with me to get my things out of storage. The problem was I was in a different city for surgery, then after that recovery had to be flown back to that same city for an emergent surgery. She worked with me and did not put my unit up for auction which she would have been well within her right. Teri also was trying to work with me. In this day in age this type of above and beyond customer service is sooooo hard to find and almost obsolete. My only critique would be that Uhaul should take partial payments. I would have been able to keep my stuff there and would have been able to make my account up to date. I thought it was a bit weird they do not take partial payments. Diane also left me speechless and feeling blessed; when she had the police and fire Chaplain come visit me in the rehab hospital. That made me speechless, but I felt so blessed and special. For her to take the time to think of doing and then actually making it happen. I can not thank her enough!

We had to go down to the office, reassign me another locker and move my things again. The whole process took about an hour. Very dissatisfying.

From a business point of view they probably do have the right amount of people, but as soon more then two people shows up you may as well pull a chair from your storage. The pros: Awesome attitude and climate, I interacted with at least 4 different individuals and they were all genuinely friendly and helpful even tho they were swamped during my visit

david j | First ImpressionsThe only thing I wish could’ve been different is that if I pay for 24 hour access, that I would be able to use the large automatic loading and unloading doors at the front of the building, rather than having to move in and try to fit everything through the small single side door. Although there was a keypad which I was able to put my combination into at the big front door, it would not open or unlock after 8 pm, which made it difficult to initially move my belongings into the storage unit, being that we arrived into Fairbanks around 9pm, and paid extra for 24 hour access. Other than that, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the building and unit was clean.

When moving items to our floor, there are a few (transients) who stay and loiter why you move your items from the truck to your facility. The most upsetting thing is not having access to the restrooms, due to the transients sleeping in there.

Misty H | Overall ExperienceMy experience with Uhaul storage was terrible. From the first day the electronic key pad told me my door was still open when I left for the day. I asked an employee and they told me not to worry about it. After a few days I talked to the manager and was told he would call me by Tuesday (a week) to set up an appointment to fix it. Two months go by and I asked to speak to the manager because now the door has been dented (by a snow plow) and the bottom of the door popped out of the door tracks. Because of this the door wasn’t 100% secure. Also the door wouldn’t stay open when you were inside the unit. The door would fall at any moment. This was a huge safety concern. There was no manager to be found but their was a regional supervisor. She told me that the last manager moved back to the lower 48. I explained all my problems with the unit and she told me someone would fix it. She took down my information and said she would call in a few days. She finally called about two months later asking when I was available to meet someone to fix my unit. I told her that I wasn’t available during the times she had available. The times were during working hours. It would be super inconvenient for me to get off work for this. Finally we agreed to a weekend and a time. I met the repair man at the date and time we agreed on. He examined the door and agreed with all my complaints and said it was not as secure as it should be and that the door was dangerous. But he did not have any tools or parts to fix it and I would have to reschedule. This was the last straw for me. I found different arrangements and canceled my unit. I would never use Uhaul or recommend them.

Richard D | Overall ExperienceSo it all started in the morning I had to wait almost 15 mins in line which I wasn’t all that mad about the employee was working alone which I understand but I sign up and get my storage unit I go up to check it out and there’s already a lock on it... so I go back down stairs wait in line again for another unit go back up and check everything out and all is good so I go back and get my things from my place and drive back at about 415 they close at 5 so plenty of time so I go to swipe my card and “access denied account suspended “ so I had to go back in the office and wait in a long line again for them to not to even find me in the system! The employee goes and gets his manager Roy who after awhile finds me in the system but the employee signed me out of my unit so I have to do all the paperwork over again... after all that the issue still isn’t fixed I still can’t swipe my card!! So I get done with everything and have about 10 mins to put all my stuff up on the second floor unit and I finally finish at 5 on the dot and I’m walking out and I was locked in! I wave down the employee and he laughs at us!! But he finally lets us out and tells us he locks up at 5 and we need to do the 24 hr access if we want to stay late but if it wasn’t for them screwing up my paperwork I would have been long and gone before 5... I am already looking at different storage sheds because of how awful my experience was in just one day! Something needs to be done here it is a Mess!!!

That's pretty great. After getting me set up with a rental unit, the manager assisting me walked me over to the heated storage area and explained how and when to access the space. The place was clean and well-ordered. This is the second time I have rented storage from this location and both experiences have been very good.

When setting it up the GM said oh it insured. Come to find out my ex husband put it under the homeowners insurance when it was under his name a plan that no longer exist. The GM didn’t even ask me or look just set it up. Over 1k of electronics were stolen. Had no insurance. An alarm goes off there they shut it off. Employees don’t even bother to check to see if there’s any suspect behavior going on. That’s probably what happened to my unit.

Well they apologized for the error. Opened it up all my TVs, cookware, kids toys were missing. All the boxes were torn through. Unit trashed. Food wrappers. Cigarette butts in there. Never again will I use uhaul.
Kristin m | Overall ExperienceSo the staff was helpful, but nothing worked, the card scanner in the customer service area didn't work, so I had to do a pin, then I they took me outside to try the pin there, and the pad hadn't been clean in GOD knows how long. It too didn't work. So I am unsure if I will be able to move in to my storage shed after hours this weekend. Then you had the woman on the 800# who didn't know what she is talking about, who didn't mind taking my money and my info but couldn't issue me an unit. So instead of being on hold again, and getting the 800# I drove into town to get unit issues. All over I would say everything added up, not so good experience. If a local storage company had been open I would have gone to them, 1) cheaper 2)local 3)they seem to take care of their stuff, and have it together. But out of desperation from a water leak that made the ceiling fall into my old place, I have no choice but to use you guys! I don't know why with this virus things are not being cleaned on a regular basis!

I set up automatic billing with him yet I got a notice in the mail stating I was late paying the first month so I had to call back to get it fixed and that took too long. The worst is finding out that you don’t pro-rate the rent so I paid for a full month but moved out early and you are now free to re-rent space 2222 and make money off of me and the new tenant for the same time period. Horrible customer service.
