Pickup was made difficult because only one person was working, which was not enough for the several people waiting for service along with customer phone calls that the worker also needed to handle. What should have been a quick pickup took almost 40 minutes. The worker was excellent and I appreciated him, but he needed extra help. Drop off was very quick and easy by comparison.

I provided an alternate contact several times for when boxes got to Florida, alternate contact never called and several times I was told there was no alternate contact on file. Also the pick up of the boxes in NY had been delayed apparently due to someone calling in sick. I was never contacted to be told the pick up would be delayed and Finally at 9:30pm that night I put all my cars away and got ready for bed only to have my doorbell ring a few minutes later. Communication when they knew the pick up would be delayed would have remedied the issue. Otherwise communication was fairly good.

The location was fine and so was the app. My issue is that I made a reservation at another location on 90 Jericho turnpike for 9am and when I got there I couldn’t get in the van. I called the hotline which said an hour long wait (excessive) and when the support agent got on he told me that they did not leave the key in the box for pickup and he would need to divert me to another location which was 450 Franklin Ave. I took an uber to the location which cost additional money and added additional miles to my rental. It took me 20 minutes to get the van going through the process again and that is just frustrating.

Worst place to get a trailer from; didn't provide any straps with the toy hauler, and forced me to buy the straps that have no use for me now.

Sometimes so many circumstances are happening in your life and you’re stress trying to figure things out and finding a group of people that help ease some of that stress is an absolute blessing. I am so full of gratitude for all of your workers at the Hempstead uhaul location. I can literally give those boys 100 ⭐️ stars. I love every staff member at this location. Everyone is so nice and courteous. They are absolutely awesome at customer service. They are down to earth and understand their customers. This is the 3rd location of uhaul I have been to. The Hempstead location is the absolute best. I don’t even know the name of the guys who helped me but I love them all. From the guys who helped me sign in to the guy who helped me with the return. I love them all. May God bless them. Thank you uhaul for being in the business of helping people at one of the most stressful time in their lives. We appreciate you.

Decreased staff levels at office. I had a reservation for my trailer. Waited 25 minutes for someone to come and check me out. There were 3 other people in front of me and no one if office for over 10 minutes. Location needs more staffing and a person to stay at the computers to check out and check in customers. Use to be much better under prior manager. Current manager makes customers overly dependent on doing everything on the app.

Wanted to return trailer to the Bellrose, NY location (where we emptied the trailer), but neither myself, the folks at Darrows or the people in the Bellrose NY store could make that happen. We ended up having to take the trailer to Hemstead, which was another 45 minutes east into Long Island BUT we were headed west back home. So it took us another 2 hours overall on our trip crawling ion traffic, which was unpleasant at the least.

I went to pick up my van and it wasn’t there. Had to drive to another town and wait and wait to finally get it. Wasn’t worth the $50 credit! Terrible!

We needed a U-Box to move my daughter home from NY to GA after college graduation. I had some trouble with the app and web site but calling and texting with the local U-Haul offices in both locations cleared up any confusion. The actual pickup and dropoff events went very well and we were very satisfied with the service.

Returning the 10 foot truck I parked it near the front entrance. I brought the keys with me and there was a line. The attendant told me to give him the keys and that he will check in the truck. I left. The truck wasn't checked in for 2 days and when I followed up over the phone it turned out that the reason was that I didn't bring it to the tent. This is tricky, as I didn't see the tent and there was no clear sign to indicate where the truck returns are located

The pricing was not clearly defined. I did not use the miles I paid for, yet I was not reimbursed for the difference, as has been the case with my other interactions at different UHaul locations.

I left this facility because of pests. After 2 months of being here, i personally had to do the work to keep roaches out of my unit & this past week MICE chewed up my items. Theres no urgency from the company to speak or get rid of pests. The way the walls and units are set up anything can get into your space. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY.

Actual move out date was October 7 not the 9th and have been having an issue contacting the store about emails sent after paying settlement amount and moving the items out of the unit

Setting up the storage originally was horrible. Israel C was rude and not helpful. I got so upset I cancelled the storage and he never refunded my money. I had to call back to get assistance from Clever who was extremely helpful. He went above and beyond. Will not recommend doing storage at this location only renting a truck etc. I put helpful staff ONLY for Clever not Israel C

Unfortunately, I cancelled the storage unit. It was dark and dirty. Spider webs all over. To small for the price. Israel C was not polite until the end. Understanding it was toward the end of the day customer service never stops. Will not recommend storage unit.

Storage is sketchy, the after hours help line number never gets picked up, the staff is poorly educated and of no help. It seems like People are living out of the storage containers there and there are many sketchy characters there. I would not suggest this location to anyone. The manager will never pick up his phone. One of the access doors doesn’t work. Terrible location

excellent value overall. however i was expecting a much larger unit on the ground floor level to accommodate my very full 20 foot uhaul truck what i was offered was the same size as rvc had offered me. walter was knowledgeable and helpful. his assistant (?) was much less so ( may i suggest a pay raise to increase employee engagement and additional training on how to please and satisfy customers queries) what saved this deal ( we were going to go someplace else entirely) was that Walter sold me side by side units. Walter deserves an even bigger pay raise. Thank you, Walter.

The second floor storage was very inconvenient. I have never seen a storage that you had to climb steps to get to. This should be told to customers so they have the choice to choose something else.

The parking was not great. They are returned vehicles parked vehicles all over the place and employees parked close to the facility and impeded the removing of boxes from the storage. Hopefully management can do something about it.

I can’t speak for every storage unit, but my storage unit had many mice feces. I was with Uhaul Hempstead for approximately nine years, and the mice issue has gotten worse. The rent increases every few months, and nothing has been done to correct the mice issue. The staff is excellent. The facility is cleaned but only cleaned to mask an issue.
