Horrible experience at first location (Middletown) the first initial person and that I dealt with that gave me the key and showed me everything was great same with the person that I talked to on the phone when I asked if I could keep the U-Haul overnight and have it returned by 9:30 in the morning one thing led up to another and my father had a heart attack. I didn’t have anybody to come help me unload it so I called and paid for movers to come help me two movers and it will take two hours enough time for them to have their U-Haul back. (mind you you have to pay extra for that.) I called set that up told me they would be in contact with me within 20 minutes. An hour went by nobody was there called them back again requested. I guess another set of movers gave me their direct number to call back if those movers did not show up.. and as you can probably suspect they did not show up. At that point, I had half of the 20 foot U-Haul unloaded. And now I was calling because I wanted my money back. They knew the situation and why I needed help and why I couldn’t do it myself.. they outsource moving companies, (mind you you think they would choose reliable ones) I was transferred seven different times. I can’t even say transferred I was given 6 different numbers.. you have to call this person and cancel the movers. You have to call this person and talk to them about getting your money back. You have to call this person and ask if you could get another person but then you had to call the storage unit their self because at this point I needed another storage unit due to the fact I had to basically just throw the stuff in not their fault except for the fact, if maybe they chose more reliable outsource movers, and the customer service representatives that work for U-Haul to find the outsource moving companies learned better communication I wouldn’t have been on the phone, unloading it for six hours back-and-forth by myself. Yes, six hours on the phone. Trying to cancel the movers but second company they outsourced because now another two hours later. I still heard nothing and the phone number they gave me to call would immediately go to voicemail.. + I figured what was the point almost 5 hours I had 80% of the truck unloaded and in front of a bunch of storage units. I just had the huge stuff left like the washer, the dryer and dressers. I asked them for a refund due to the fact I did it basically all by myself I did not want to pay the insane amount. They charged me to give me a runaround when they offered it to me in the first place.. that took three calls itself. Been with them question about the refund, and the free month storage unit that you are eligible for as soon as you rent one of their vehicles, due to the fact that I was just in a hurry to make it to the ER before my dad was rushed into the OR for open heart surgery did not end up making it. Then I had inquired about the unit that you are supposed to get for one month free for and they told me the Middletown office that I was supposed to acquire about it during initial set up. Nobody said anything to me about it. I didn’t read anything on the website about it. Well, then I she I guess had no more answers for me in which she hung up on me after stating they didn’t even have any units there that they rent then a little bit more issues and I ended up calling this one in Hershey where they gave me not one problem about the first free month promotion they were promoting. In which I was told by the first place, I don’t qualify for that so she doesn’t know what to tell me. The gentleman that I was first initially greeted with on the phone. I did have to apologize and told him it was my eighth call and my attitude was not directed towards him and then I proceeded to tell him my story within not even five minutes he found a unit for me and told me to come in. We’ll get things situated, ( I just wanna put it out there. It is not completely free. You still have to pay at least for a 5 x 10 19.99$. (they should include that while they’re promoting one month free with the use of one of their vehicles) the charge was for a lock and key and then Insurance. Which I understand.. mind you you could use your own lock, but you would still get charged that lock price. I wasn’t gonna complain because he at least granted what the company was promoting instead of hanging up on me he listened to me. I only realize that it was gonna be $20 after we set everything up and he printed out the paper and was like you owe this which done was the question of course was why did they promoted it as free and not tell you or include you will have to pay an additional amount due to a lock and key and insurance. That’s not a huge deal, but that should definitely be noted when offering the first month free.. U-Haul in Middletown, Pennsylvania on Vine Street. I would not recommend them to anybody.. there are customer service, and they’re overall help/communication. I wouldn’t recommend.

ROHAN MHave the rental truck assigned to the customer out front and at the curb. When I was given the key it did not fit 3 of the trucks I walked to that they told me it fit. After the third try I walked back into the office only to have to wait 10 minutes until another customer was served before they helped me find my truck.

Allan SIt was frustrating attempting the online move-in process on our phone; it seems that maybe this needs to be reviewed for mobile devices because as soon as we switched and tried it on our laptop, everything worked fine (but this was after at least 4 attempts on our mobile device). Also, the instructions to access the building/unit should be clearer. We received the information with our access code but because the doors automatically opened, we were never actually asked to enter the access code. This then caused the alarm to go off. Luckily the associate working there helped us out and explained that we needed to enter the access code to "check in" on the third box from the main doors. She was extremely helpful, thank goodness.

Then I got yelled at by some woman for following the instructions in the app. This is why I like the app (when they work) they don’t yell at me for following the instructions.

The truck was well maintained. I was not instructed in anything prior to driving off the lot. I was unable to adjust my side mirrors. Overall-I am satisfied as I was able to transport everything I needed in a safe, convenient manner.

No instruction on the accessories of the vehicle such as the ramp. When I worked for the company we pulled the vehicle to the front of building for the customer. We then went over the vehicle with the customer. After asking customer if they had any questions, there was a handshake and a "call us if you have questions during your move."

JOHN SI believe the person who helped me when I was dropping off the truck and my car transfer tow was the manager. She was excellent. She also gave me enough information to be successful, knew how to disconnect the auto transport and helped me to get on my way. I would like to again highlight that U-Haul has put very competent women in leadership roles at their locations; good for them. Because women rent trucks and women use U-Haul. I was very, very impressed by the whole experience.

General manager was very nice and you couldn’t ask for a better customer service
Vivian M | Overall ExperienceFirst, I ordered two furniture dollies, and the West Chocolate location in Hershey only had one. My sister had to drive to the Allentown Blvd. location to pick up another one. Secondly, the garage door became stuck, and we had to use a crowbar to force the wheel back onto the track. That was quite a hard thing to do! We happened to be at Good Will, and they had a crowbar for us to use. Now, customer service wise, it would be better if the furniture dollies were in the truck (we had to put the one they did have in the truck) and then walk around the building to where the truck was parked, and then verify the license plate. There has to be an easier way. The attendant does check you in and verifies the mileage when you return, but that person could certainly pull the truck around, show you how the latch works on the door, and put the dolly in the truck. It seems like companies want the customer to do more and more. I don't work for U-haul, but my patronage keeps you employed. My bill for the day was $200. Way too much for 20 miles and 4 hours. Plus, my relative drove her own car a good 15 miles to get the other dolly we were promised.
