I had an outstanding experience. The customer service was truly top‑notch — the staff were knowledgeable, friendly, genuinely cares about their customers, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. I was packing my U‑Box in the summer heat, and the staff kept checking on me and even brought me water several times. Who does that anymore? Amazing people and exceptional service. I'm very impressed and highly, highly recommend!

I haven’t used U-Haul since 2016. Upon going to pickup my reserved truck I was told I was on a’E Alert’ and could not rent. Apparently, someone in Texas used my name & or phone number fraudulently. Pick up took close to an hour as employee had to call for help with a 30-40 minute wait time.

I was using the app and a representative called to schedule my truck. The rep had me pick up the truck in the next town over at a location that was closed and assured me the mobile app would allow me to pick up the moving truck. I arrived at the location and the app instructed me to call the 24/7 helpline. The location did not confirm my rental and after a while the call center transferred my reservation to my preferred pick up location. The experience was frustrating but U-Haul did give me a $50 credit so that made up for their mistake.

The young lady was very helpful and patient in answering my questions. This next statement is about the equipment. The external mirrors do not adjust significantly, and the little they do adjust pops back to original position at the first small bump. This really is not safe, because different size drivers need different adjustments to tell where other cars are. Also, if there was cruise control available, the switch for it is not obvious. Cruise control really makes a long trip easier, and more fuel efficient.

The lighting sucks in the units and they park trucks in the way of getting in and out of the garage doors. Other than that it was fine.

I was confused about the fuel. I only drove ~30 miles round trip and I put 20 dollars worth of fuel from Giant after my trip. I have the receipt. I was charged an additional ~30 dollars for fuel. The van only had a little more than 1/4 of a tank to begin with. Turns out there is a penalty for leaving less than a certain amount. Why wouldn't it start with a full tank and just fill it back up. Setting the customer up to fail. I paid 50 dollars for 2 gallons of gas usage. Please look at all of the pictures at check in and out I spent taking and let me know where I'm wrong. The whole check in and check out is laborious. I'd rather check in with the person at the desk inside who appeared to have ample time. No offense the staff was very nice. Upon arriving, the app said the van information is on the front of the van, fyi, it's on the back. There was no lock box to get the keys. When I found the van in the back of the building the app said ok, now go back around the building and go into the office and get the keys. and spent 20 minutes figuring out the check in. Positive, the van was new. Other than that get ready to spend some time figuring everything out and giving them access to your whole life on the app, and having them contact friends and employers before you can leave the property. I reserved the van for 6 hours. Recommend adding an hour for pickup and drop off procedures.

The trailer WAS clean but the door latch was sticky and the door was noisy and the exterior was a little well worn. The rep was friendly and VERY helpful

Excellent service provided by Darlene Sims. She explained the process and when done took us up to my unit on the 3rd floor snd I had a chance to look at the dimensions, etc. she also showed where the rest room was and how to access locations in the building where there are packing facilities for every size you could need, I was also thrilled to find out there are specific packing facilities to hang clothing up rather than having to fold them into a normal “box” to store them. All in all the experience was more than I expected While I have no ssh in sho you hire to handle the introduction of new customers, it would be great if top management took the time to relay messages- both kinds - to the affected staff , in this case to Darlene. I’m sure my frequent visits to “my” unit will be positive.

I’ve moved all around the United States — more than 25 times — and the Hershey U‑Haul & Storage location is truly one of the best I’ve ever used. I can’t recommend them enough. The staff consistently go above and beyond for their customers, and I’m genuinely grateful for their help. I’ve rented U‑Hauls and used storage units here twice, and every experience has been outstanding. Their locked‑in rate may look slightly higher than other places, but it reflects honesty and predictability. Other facilities lure you in with a low price and then raise your rate. Hershey U‑Haul doesn’t do that — what you’re quoted is what you pay. Moving is stressful, but working with the team at this location made everything easier. They’re organized, professional, and truly care about their customers. I’ve already referred colleagues and patients here because I trust the service. If you want a smooth, reliable, and stress‑free moving or storage experience, this is the place to go.

Horrible experience at first location (Middletown) the first initial person and that I dealt with that gave me the key and showed me everything was great same with the person that I talked to on the phone when I asked if I could keep the U-Haul overnight and have it returned by 9:30 in the morning one thing led up to another and my father had a heart attack. I didn’t have anybody to come help me unload it so I called and paid for movers to come help me two movers and it will take two hours enough time for them to have their U-Haul back. (mind you you have to pay extra for that.) I called set that up told me they would be in contact with me within 20 minutes. An hour went by nobody was there called them back again requested. I guess another set of movers gave me their direct number to call back if those movers did not show up.. and as you can probably suspect they did not show up. At that point, I had half of the 20 foot U-Haul unloaded. And now I was calling because I wanted my money back. They knew the situation and why I needed help and why I couldn’t do it myself.. they outsource moving companies, (mind you you think they would choose reliable ones) I was transferred seven different times. I can’t even say transferred I was given 6 different numbers.. you have to call this person and cancel the movers. You have to call this person and talk to them about getting your money back. You have to call this person and ask if you could get another person but then you had to call the storage unit their self because at this point I needed another storage unit due to the fact I had to basically just throw the stuff in not their fault except for the fact, if maybe they chose more reliable outsource movers, and the customer service representatives that work for U-Haul to find the outsource moving companies learned better communication I wouldn’t have been on the phone, unloading it for six hours back-and-forth by myself. Yes, six hours on the phone. Trying to cancel the movers but second company they outsourced because now another two hours later. I still heard nothing and the phone number they gave me to call would immediately go to voicemail.. + I figured what was the point almost 5 hours I had 80% of the truck unloaded and in front of a bunch of storage units. I just had the huge stuff left like the washer, the dryer and dressers. I asked them for a refund due to the fact I did it basically all by myself I did not want to pay the insane amount. They charged me to give me a runaround when they offered it to me in the first place.. that took three calls itself. Been with them question about the refund, and the free month storage unit that you are eligible for as soon as you rent one of their vehicles, due to the fact that I was just in a hurry to make it to the ER before my dad was rushed into the OR for open heart surgery did not end up making it. Then I had inquired about the unit that you are supposed to get for one month free for and they told me the Middletown office that I was supposed to acquire about it during initial set up. Nobody said anything to me about it. I didn’t read anything on the website about it. Well, then I she I guess had no more answers for me in which she hung up on me after stating they didn’t even have any units there that they rent then a little bit more issues and I ended up calling this one in Hershey where they gave me not one problem about the first free month promotion they were promoting. In which I was told by the first place, I don’t qualify for that so she doesn’t know what to tell me. The gentleman that I was first initially greeted with on the phone. I did have to apologize and told him it was my eighth call and my attitude was not directed towards him and then I proceeded to tell him my story within not even five minutes he found a unit for me and told me to come in. We’ll get things situated, ( I just wanna put it out there. It is not completely free. You still have to pay at least for a 5 x 10 19.99$. (they should include that while they’re promoting one month free with the use of one of their vehicles) the charge was for a lock and key and then Insurance. Which I understand.. mind you you could use your own lock, but you would still get charged that lock price. I wasn’t gonna complain because he at least granted what the company was promoting instead of hanging up on me he listened to me. I only realize that it was gonna be $20 after we set everything up and he printed out the paper and was like you owe this which done was the question of course was why did they promoted it as free and not tell you or include you will have to pay an additional amount due to a lock and key and insurance. That’s not a huge deal, but that should definitely be noted when offering the first month free.. U-Haul in Middletown, Pennsylvania on Vine Street. I would not recommend them to anybody.. there are customer service, and they’re overall help/communication. I wouldn’t recommend.

Have the rental truck assigned to the customer out front and at the curb. When I was given the key it did not fit 3 of the trucks I walked to that they told me it fit. After the third try I walked back into the office only to have to wait 10 minutes until another customer was served before they helped me find my truck.

It was frustrating attempting the online move-in process on our phone; it seems that maybe this needs to be reviewed for mobile devices because as soon as we switched and tried it on our laptop, everything worked fine (but this was after at least 4 attempts on our mobile device). Also, the instructions to access the building/unit should be clearer. We received the information with our access code but because the doors automatically opened, we were never actually asked to enter the access code. This then caused the alarm to go off. Luckily the associate working there helped us out and explained that we needed to enter the access code to "check in" on the third box from the main doors. She was extremely helpful, thank goodness.

Darlene is a great attendent. I rent a storage unit at this location, and called first to ask if they had any small trailers available for a short term furniture move. Everything went off without a hitch. No pun intended.

I like the app. But it crashed and was hard to use. I returned the truck easily and followed the instructions which included dropping the key in the box (as the app said). Then I got yelled at by some woman for following the instructions in the app. This is why I like the app (when they work) they don’t yell at me for following the instructions.

The truck I received was well maintained...but it was definitely not clean. It reaked of smoke, the window was foggy and difficult to see through and the exterior was dirty as well. The truck was well maintained. I was not instructed in anything prior to driving off the lot. I was unable to adjust my side mirrors. Overall-I am satisfied as I was able to transport everything I needed in a safe, convenient manner.

I worked for Uhaul back in 1978. Customer service sure has changed. I had to go out in lot to retrieve my truck. No instructions on how to operate the vehicle. No instruction on the accessories of the vehicle such as the ramp. When I worked for the company we pulled the vehicle to the front of building for the customer. We then went over the vehicle with the customer. After asking customer if they had any questions, there was a handshake and a "call us if you have questions during your move."

I believe the person who helped me when I was dropping off the truck and my car transfer tow was the manager. She was excellent. She also gave me enough information to be successful, knew how to disconnect the auto transport and helped me to get on my way. I would like to again highlight that U-Haul has put very competent women in leadership roles at their locations; good for them. Because women rent trucks and women use U-Haul. I was very, very impressed by the whole experience.

I rented because I thought I was going to need to store a washer and dryer with a couple of boxes , but I sold the washer and dryer and a friend suggested I store what few boxes I did have at the facility at his place or I would’ve stayed. General manager was very nice and you couldn’t ask for a better customer service

The lights in my area have never worked. I have #2189. Also, the depth of the locker wasn't technically a full 5 ft. There needed to be space for the door.

The manager on duty said that she wanted to use my phone to scan my license when I couldn’t get it to work. It felt unprofessional and unclean. I did not appreciate it and it made the situation very awkward when I felt like I had to surrender my phone.

I was in a pinch moving out of my apartment and this service really saved me! The ability to sign up online easily was very helpful. The staff was incredible and very kind. The only note I have is that based on the info provided, it wasn't clear to me if I could go to my storage center after office hours on my very first time accessing it. If there is a way to better spell that out it would be helpful. Thank you!

Sad to hear that the rebuild of the Hershey location will not accommodate camper storage. This was so convenient. Would be great though if they provide camper washing services as part of the rebuild.
