I had a good experience picking up my U-Haul truck and auto transport trailer here. This was my first time using a U-Haul truck with an auto transport trailer, so I was honestly a little nervous and not very familiar with how everything worked. Barbara was very helpful. When I had trouble backing the truck up to the trailer hitch, she stepped in and helped me line it up quickly. I also appreciated that she made sure my car’s tires were secured properly with the straps on the auto transport. At the time, I didn’t fully realize how important that was, but once I was on the road, I understood how much it mattered for safety. The location was busy, and I know everyone was working under pressure, but I really appreciated Barbara’s help. For me, this was a new and challenging experience, and she helped me get started safely.

Not that I believe this to be the local shop issue - According to them -your computers in AZ were down and we had a 45 minute wait to pick up the trailer. I pick up trailers all the time. if we could have a way to Self Serve the Trailer items it would be so much easier.

The people who work there did their best, but the system is very inefficient.

MICHAEL GI rented the enclosed cargo trailer as it was raining and needed to pick up a couch. The cargo trailer leaked and the couch got water damage. When I returned the trailer they didn’t even care about the leak. Very disappointed.

Jennifer FManagement at this location was disappointing and lacked professionalism. The manager addressed me as “sweetheart” and used what are technically referred to as pet names, which I found inappropriate in a business setting. Customers should be addressed respectfully and professionally, especially when dealing with service-related matters. In addition, despite having a reservation that was placed several days in advance, I waited more than an hour for my vehicle to be available. The delay was frustrating and suggested poor planning and organization at the location. The only positive aspect of my experience was the excellent assistance provided by the phone representative, who was courteous, professional, and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the service and management at the location itself did not meet the standards I would expect and significantly detracted from the overall experience.
Salvatore BDrop off was a bit of a pain. The return area was full of returned trucks etc, so almost nowhere to put the trailer. So, I suggest that this Uhaul location be aware of scheduled returns and have people on to process them before the whole lot is filled making it difficult for other customers to return their rentals. Arrived 8 am morning of reservation...waited 20 minutes an nobody in office-man arrived-began filling out forms etc then said I couldn't have it as my new jeep gladiator had a softtop..nobody mentioned this despite in person showing vehicle and 2 calls in between to Uhaul central extending reservation. so, no rental-then quickly got replacement vehicle/arrive and took 1/2 hour as staff was having computer trouble-didn't know how to make certain entry...finally out 2 1/2 hours after original pickup with laborers in my yard on the clock. Never again..and they quoted 69.90/day but corporate revealed its 39.95...bill adjusted.

It also appeared quite used and probably overdue for decommissioning. I’ve complained and was supposed to hear from an area manager, however I have not thus far. Lynann DI typically do not fill out surveys - but this rental experience was so frustrating that I feel like someone needs to be aware. I rented 2 separate moving trucks, at two different times, for over a week each and spent thousands of dollars for context. This means I was at the Hyannis Uhaul counter a total of 4 different times picking up and returning. Not once was there ever more than one person behind the guest register helping customers. The line on Monday morning stretched out the door - over a dozen customers waiting in line to be helped by one man. Who had to leave the counter and go outside seemingly every interaction but mine. The keys he gave me didn't line up with the truck parked in the loading zone he directed me to. I must have waisted a total of 3 hours in line over the course of the whole experience which totally set back my coordinated schedule. The customer sentiment in line turned foul and slightly dangerous at one point - folks complaining and cussing, leaving, laying down on boxes and merchandise because they were fed up with the lack of customer support as well. There were long periods of time when no one of authority was even in the room at all. Obviously this is a staffing shortage - and the staff that are there you can tell are fed up and overwhelmed. Who ever needs to read this in corporate: PLEASE HELP this store out. More Humans is the only answer. At least to quell the discontentment and keep the other customers feeling safe in line.

Ik what I asked for. The manager at the Hyannis store did. After calling and trying to come to an understanding he was not helpful had an attitude towards me the entire time telling me it’s my fault. I tried calling the district manager with the number provided with not help. As a MANAGER He should should’ve provided the necessary information or make sure the information he’s imputing was accurate. Now me a customer had to pay for his mistake. I’m totally disappointed I’m how this issue was resolved and I feel like a big company like this wouldn’t allow poor management to take advantage of their system.

Each time I've had needed to interact with staff, they are nowhere to be found. Wait 10 minutes in the storefront for any employee to show up. I even go back in their break room looking for employees. Meanwhile multiple customers waiting behind me too. So by the time the 1 employee shows up and helps a customer, the 4th customer has been waiting 30+ minutes. Plus, its just weird to leave an open store with merchandise and no employees in sight. Staff was very friendly, when present.

When I did not receive a confirmation email I called the next day several times with no answer. I called again several times on Sunday, no answer. I left SEVERAL messages with the number it transfers to, they assured me they sent you a message to call me. On Oct. 3rd I received an email my rent was due. I called the Hyannis office to notify them again I had moved out. I called 7-8 TIMES throughout the day on Oct 3, 4, & 5 , it always transfers to someone else, who sends you a message to call me and that I moved out Sept 27. I received a call from Hyannis office Oct 6 because someone noticed my lock was gone. YOU NEED TO START CHECKING YOUR MESSAGES, OR ANSWERING THE PHONE.

Then they send me a receipt saying I owed gas when I topped it off to the half tank I was given. I only went 87 miles and put in ten gallons of gas. Do the math. Horrible place. If I had been able to penetrate your phone system, I would have called, but the phone system is useless and I did not have time to come over and had no idea that you would be that inflexible. I rented two bins for about 6 months and paid on time by autopay and this is how you treat people? Not good. I understand this decision comes from corporate, but it was ridiculous.

Scott L | Overall ExperienceThere wasn’t specific information about the split level unit, because when I googled it I had a different understanding based on pictures on a uhaul website (it made it look like part of the unit would be on the ground, and part would need to be accessed by a ladder, like split into 2 units within the unit if that makes sense - as opposed to the whole unit being up a flight of steps). So I couldn’t move one of the items of furniture in there because I was so physically worn out from the move. And I was told in the initial email it would be on the first floor so I had assumed it was the actual floor. I selected it because it looked like it was discounted but really it was just the normal price of that unit, it was confusing. If I had understood I would’ve paid for a first floor unit that was on the first floor.

Sara was very professional & accommodating, from my call, to in person contact on Fri, 4/14/23. She told me she wouldn’t be there when I arrived almost an hr later, but assured me, Tom would assign me my ‘new’ storage container. Low & behold, she was still there, due to being very busy & the 2 were bogged down w/all kinds of things going on, in & outside w/ppl. They’d even had an auction earlier! Sara was very calm, polite & friendly at all times, to everyone, despite the obviously stressful time she was immersed in...Well after she was supposed to have gone home! Tom was kept busy outside w/just sporadic moments in, to help Sara w/different ppl & issues, incl computer. I had to wait a good hr, myself, so had time to observe everything going on. And pretty much everything did, w/a wide variety of ppl w/numerous requests & problems. Tom was very friendly, smiling w/everyone, & disarming impatient ppl w/his friendly demeanor, as if it was just a regular day at the office. When clearly, it was not. They easily needed at least 2 more knowledgeable ppl on. When I finally got my much awaited storage, I walked right by the swiper, to the gate. I was just going to walk in, to see my spot. So just passed it. Back inside, Sara, finally leaving, told me ‘the yellow post’. But again, I just went for the gate!😂 There were numerous returned rentals lined up I walked around, so I guess on foot, I just didn’t see it. I went in again, now to Tom, holding down the fort solo. Knowing I’d been there a very long time, he finished w/his customer & immediately came out to show me the ‘yellow post’ Sara told me it was on...Before the gate!LOL We both had a good laugh & I again thanked him very much, while telling him how great they both were under so much pressure, when so short handed. I called them ‘the dynamic duo’! And certainly were! They obviously have a good working relationship & their personalities complement each other well. Not 1 being laid back & the other more tense, under stress. It could have easily been 2 nervous, tense nellies, that would have fed into some antsy, impatient ppl waiting. Everyone kept cool, all around. I engaged a couple ppl for distraction, myself. My one complaint has nothing to do with them. The back gate is broken. Wide open. What’s the point of ppl thinking their storage is safe behind locked gates? Especially w/prices stretching some pocketbooks. I’m a senior, myself. My unit is close to that wide open gate. I can easily be seen from well outside it. If I’m there later, do I feel safe w/no one else outside close by? NO! We, as customers paying for a ‘secure’ service, should feel our belongings are safe, yes. More importantly, WE should feel safe, when at our units, alone. Upon my retun today, I also returned scissors I had to go back inside yet again for, yesterday, B/C my new unit had a zip tie on. In a hurry to leave, I forgot to return them! 3 Different ppl were there, w/just 1 client, in an empty place! The 2 guys I spoke with said it was a very slow day. Told them they were definitely needed the day prior! Returned the scissors & asked about the gate. I was told by Sara it wasn’t working right, but I didn’t expect it to be wide open, totally non functional. Both guys said it’s a regular problem w/it. I said I didn’t think it was right & I would be there a lot, solo. And will be concerned. I rented thinking it was going to be secure for both people & their things. I would think U Haul makes enough money to keep their gates working well at all times. Why pay extra for after hours, if you can just go in? Worse, if it’s late, dark & you’re alone in that area of Hyannis. No thank you! I went to Sun Self Storage a couple days prior & no question that was secure. For everyone & everything. They were even less $. UHaul is closer & for $20 more w/all the back ‘n forth w/things, I went w/UHaul. If I’d known there is a regular problem w/a broken gate right at my unit, I would have gone further for $20 less, + a Sr discount & no required ins costing more on top of rental fee. Guess I’m glad I’m paying the extra for ins here, now that I know there’s no gate secure storage at this location. If something happens to a customer, especially at night, cameras, if working, are not going to help prevent it. Especially when so close to the exit. A SECURE gate will. They don’t seem to care it’s a regular issue. I’m retired from working w/NYC crime. It all happens very fast. I’ll see how long it takes to fix. And STAYS fixed, since I was told it may only last a day or 2. And I’ll keep my eye open for another locale I will feel safer at. I need storage for a little while. Same size is no longer avail at Sun.

I told her how much stuff and what kind of things I had and at least I got the right size truck. She made no mention of the moving company being out of state and there was no way to personally get hold of them. I was under a lot of stress and not able to navigate emailing them at cetera. The movers were very careful and considerate in moving when they finally arrived an hour later than scheduled. I understand it wasn't their fault as they came from out of state and hit traffic. Would be nice to know that if Uhaul was going to recommend movers they would pick somebody closer more local. The storage unit however was half the size of what I needed. And so by the time I went to move in the next morning the larger unit was no longer available. And so I had to rent a second unit costing me more out of my budget and Uhaul offered no discount no apology no nothing. The 2nd gentleman that tried to help was Grumpy and very snappy, matter of factly with me. I get you probably hear a lot of sob stories but when people are under a lot of stress it would be nice to have more of an empathetic ear.

Even as staff and managers were told on a monthly basis I still paid my monthly price and had to endure another rate hike before the door was fixed. 3 Your increase letter always stated the increase was due to daily checks of the grounds a d sweeping between rows of units. I never noticed the area had been swept. I am sorry to say but sometimes the truth hurts. Having to be living on Cape Cod one only has so little to choose from of course.

When i got to the unit there had been clear damage to the front door. The handle was completely rusted and i was (and still am) unable to access the unit. There was also a giant dead Hawk lying right next to the unit. When i called to find an alternative unit nothing was available. I had to find storage with another company. I will be cancelling this reservation and expect a refund for the first months fees as i have been unable to access the unit entirely.
