IBRAHIMA SWhile my experience in NY with the NY crew was excellent, that changed dramatically for the worse. Initially, the transport rato my VT home was well-done. Once I scheduled their pick-up, everything went away. Each of my MULTIPLE appointments were canceled without notice. When i called to check-in each time as I had to travel over 300 miles and rearrange my schedule at great inconvenience, the excuses given were bold-faced lies. No calls were missed and no voicemails left although I was told that since I didn't take their call which was never made that is why the pickups were canceled so many times. Obviously, there is a HUGE problem in your NH offices. Note that I am now extremely disappointed. I will never use uHaul again for ANY reason nor can I recommend the uBox given my now horrendous experience. Also, of interest and importance, is that due to the mistakes and failings of uHaul's NH locations, I have been charged another month for rent and now late fees are accumulating. This is absolutely unacceptable as I will not pay for your incompetence. As such, I demand that the latest charge and any late fees be removed.
Carloyn HIn every business customers comes first, so if a customer comes to rent a truck but needs a storage unit at the same time the customer should be able to do both transactions at the same time in order to save time and prevent confusion frustration and delay. Please be reminded that customers have to pay workmen on the truck for their time and it takes time with a slow messed up computer to rent the truck, then to go through the stress of renting a storage when truck is returned and sometimes if not most times when the truck is being returned the office is already closed. So, the bottom line is quit the delay, frustration, confusion, headache, stress, mental agony, misery, AND DO BOTH TRANSACTIONS AT THE SAME TIME! PLEASE!!!!!!Blessings to all the customer service reps who work so hard at the front desk. Mr President please to purchase new computers for the reps at the front desk. They need it in order to serve the customers efficiently and effectively. I will continue to use U-haul whenever needed but right is right and wrong is wrong for me.

I rented the van w/o an issue but was given a van that smelled like fish, also I drove the van about 4-7 miles an the gas tank sign came on. I could hardly make it the additional mile or two to a gas station. The car started going slower like it was about to die.

Helen EDuring reservation I had checked for the furniture pad and dolly with an expectation that it would be in the truck when I pickup. Unfortunately, was told that I had to ask for it during the visit/picking up the keys. Things to improve: During pickup the original reservation should be looked at on what was asked/reserved and confirm with the customer avoiding inconvenience. Overall the experience was great.
SAMEER ALocation has multiple people onsite that were not uhaul employees asking if I needed assistance both upon entry and exit of the facility. I rented a car hauler. When I reached my destination to pick up the car, i discovered that the tire ratchet straps were cut and not functional. I had to use my own to secure the vehicle safely. I reported this to the drop off location. Uhaul staff was professional and helpful. No complaints regarding their conduct. Complaints and concerns surround facility safety and poorly maintained equipment.

DONNELLL SI like the customer service and polite attitude the staff has at this location. The trick is the issue. The truck did not lock the 3 days I rented it so I couldn’t do a lot of what I wanted to do . The last few hours I had the truck the doors and everything started to finally lock. But that issue needs to be fixed on that truck asap.
BRYTTNEY CRental process was smooth, I had issues closing out my rental but someone from the office called, I explained the issue, and we got it resolved quickly.
NEFERTITI PMs 'Jailiene', who works the front desk at the Jamaica location, was very courteous, professional and helpful. Highly recommended.

Also it states a disk lock will be provided based on the online information. I checked in after hours, so it would be helpful to provide clear instructions for customers that arrive after hours. Thank goodness the clerks answered the phone before closing and I was able to get some questions answered to avoid being unable to store my items. The two clerks inside before closing were very helpful and aided in clearing things up.

Then when I left through the entrance on douglass there wasn't an option to arm or disarm alarm so I was a bit confused about that.
Karen R | First ImpressionsVery misleading information on the website and what happens in person. I reserved a unit online while on a move from FL to NY. I made the reservation for a specific unit size given my things and for a specific price. So after driving the truck for 15 hours and hoping to check in to my unit, I was told that it was unavailable and that I could get something a little bit larger for a different much higher price. Why have the reservation in place online then? Fortunately I told the workers there the situation and after arguing with them and whoever was their manager for an hour, I was able to secure a similar sized unit on the same day for an agreed price. The facility itself seems nice with good hours and equipment available to help with moving things into the locker. In total I had my things locked up for about 8 months and I was surprised to find that it was not at all dusty, seems that the ventilation and filtration is good enough. Move out was simple, and I did it online. However, the status was pending for several days and if my rent was due, I think my card would have been charged. I had to physically call in to make sure the unit was moved out, and the agent who answered was surprised that they didn't see the online request. I wish what was on the U-Haul website coincided with the reality. I would recommend this service for the price, but not for anything else.

Had me and those I was with outside for over an hour waiting in the pouring rain in the wrong location. When the right location was told to us, there was no one there to open the door leaving us outside in the downpour for another 20 minutes. Extremely disappointing experience.

I rented a truck and transport and hired workers to help me load my truck so that I could arrive before office closing on 10/1 to access the storage. After a 17 hour drive, I was told that the unit I had reserved was given to someone else. I did not want to pay more for a larger unit. It took about an hour to get something sorted and only with the help of the store manager. Facility could be cleaner and could use some air conditioning, it felt very stuffy inside. I had to call in a third-party locksmith to gain access to my storage space, to close it out yesterday. Is there no U-haul lock masterkey? Having services/amenities like recommended locksmiths to call would make the customer feel they don't have to be completely self-reliant. I was lucky enough that there was not a lot of people at the site, so I could access support from the front desk, but days that it is busy I am sure it would be much more difficult to be in communication with those working on-site.

When I got there the unit given is on the basement. I am pregnant and this is not convenient. They unit was dirty and locked. Check in took forever. Inspite of correcting the check in staff, and giving them my ID, my name is still incorrectly spelt. No one shows you to your unit. It’s a maze to locate. When we got there the unit is locked! You have to go back to the staff and then be rushed because they have to leave. When I booked the unit I asked for the facility contact number. The number given is one that takes you to the call center. Overall the service was poor and fell way below expectations based on the brochure and ads.

The friend who helped us had to seek medical attention for a bite near his left eye. Overall: The staff was courteous and very helpful to an 82 year old woman and her helpers. Overall, we were happy and are finally moved out of our old home, while we wait 4-6 weeks for our new home to go through renovations. U-Haul was great for our situation where we needed to move from one home to two different locations. Staff at all 3 locations weee super-friendly (Woodhaven Auto, U-Haul of Jamaica and U-Haul of Flushing). Some areas for improvement (I’ve included for truck rentals too) -the move in process was very time consuming (about 2 hrs), the web sign was problematic. We were in a hurry, but did not get clear information and had to change our locker due to issues finding it and lengthy walk/ride on elevators. -our truck reservations were bumped twice, because drivers didn’t return their trucks in time. This added a lot of stress to a stressful period. -we saw the U-box moving containers at the U-Haul of Jamaica Queens. It looks like a newer version, with steel construction - much better than the plywood boxes and orange tarp advertised by UHaul. I wish we knew about these newer boxes, because we would have used them and it would have been a much better product for our situation. Note: we would have gone with PODS, but could not due to size limitations in our driveway.

Thinking I was keeping them safe, this place turned out to be the worst decision I’ve ever made. When my unit was flooded it ruined my furniture with water and mildew damage. I was told that there was nothing they could due as I opted out of insurance. I explained that, I didn’t know insurance was an option, as no one informed me on any insurance when I started renting the unit. All I was told there’s nothing they can do. Which is completely unacceptable. My items can never be replaced. My other items that wasn’t affected were moved upstairs to a smaller unit, but I was still being charged the price of the larger unit. When I finally decided enough was enough. I came to remove my things to go elsewhere, only to find the rest of my future was ruined by RAT DROPPINGS! When this was brought to the staff attention, they said that was regular! I am truly disappointed and angry at the amount of unprofessionalism and just complete disregard of my belongings. I paid uhaul to ruin my future. I have no sofa, mattress, recliner chair or dining room chairs. Just nothing, if it wasn’t in plastic bins it’s GONE! I will never use uhaul or recommend uhaul to anyone!

Uhaul owes me $30 and said they will have a manager contact me… that was 3 YEARS AGO!!!! Still haven’t gotten a refund or even a call back. They charge you over $100 to put your stuff in their dumpster, like what is the dumpster for if not to discard things, I paid $92.90 a month for a box and they still make you pay to throw out furniture. Using uhaul was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a facility. Will not recommend.

But with this last experience I will not be returning and I am very close to writing a public review, since no one will get back to me or call me from customer service. My unit had rats, which fine- no big deal - it happens. I asked to walk away from the unit and leave the damaged goods behind. After months of no one following up with me, Melessa Toussaint reached out and gave me a refund for the months I had to wait and assured me there was nothing more I needed to do. Great! Moved on with Life. Fast forward, for months I receive late notices on the unit. I sent them to Melessa. Radio silence. Finally I contact customer support. She emails me I need to sign a letter of abandonment. After I have my questions answered about the letter by Cynthia, I sign it and send it over. I ask Melessa to confirm she received it. Radio silence again. A month goes by, I receive notice a LEIN is being placed on my CREDIT due to late notices. Over a unit that is CLOSED?! What? I call Melessa. I call customer service. No one can help me. Finally Melessa emails me back on e poorly written sentence that I have to sign the letter. I forwarded her the email, and resent the PDF. She just didn’t see I sent it? Then proceeded to ignore me for three more days. Then said she received it and said something about waiting on a dumpster to arrive? This has nothing to do with the fact that my credit has been wrongfully affected by Melessa’s Oversight. She literally ignores my emails completely, she has never even acknowledged her multiple errors during this entire experience. And no one has ever cared enough to even reach out to me and hear out my concerns. I was told to reach out to Will Wolof, I have called his office four times. Radio silence there too. I text him as well, nope. Nothing. How hard is it for anyone at Uhaul to give me a call? Ever? I am not crazy, or irrational. I just wanted basic decency and assistance which I never got. I got a call that the unit has been closed. Great. This doesn’t change the fact that no one has ever reached out to me, my credit has been damaged on a unit I never ever failed to make a payment on. I am so angry, and disappointed. I have been a loyal customer for years and years, and now I really don’t think I can ever trust this company again.

I had to keep walking down the hall because the light sensors would go off like every 5 to 10 minutes and it would be completely dark. My unit was not handicap accessible. So I had a hard time carrying beds and dressers up the stairs alone. The loading area is way too small. Cars and trucks were blocking each other. I've seen several large roaches to the point that I had to pay a service to throw all my belongings out for fear I would bring roaches to my new house. The bathroom was gross both in the storage facility and the main rental office. After all of that I wanted to rent a smaller 5x5 for some sealed plastic bins, but the way the staff treated me on my last visit made me just say forget it and I will NEVER use this company again nor will I recommend this company to friends or family.

The problem is that they have these extremely loud, ear-piercing alarms that keep going off intermittently at that place.. The sound of those alarms are so shrill and so terrible that prolonged exposure to them would most certainly damage a person's ear-drums. The elevators are of a type that I've never seen before; they're like something from a previous age of man's existence on this planet, and the elevators themselves are wired to set off a horrible super-shrill, ear-drum piercing alarm that goes off for a few seconds while the doors are closing. So this is my only complaint about the place. I would recommend that they install modern elevators, and then relegate all those annoying and quite frankly, extremely unhealthy alarms to the after 10:00 PM over-night hours. I say those alarms are unhealthy because of the potential damage they can cause to a person's nerves and ear-drums, and maybe even the brains too, to a certain extent, when a person has to be there working and packing for 3 hours or more. So I think they should set the alarms to go off after 10:00 PM at night, which would be the "after hours" time period, so that people who come in there to do work in their units in the daytime can have peace & quiet, and be able to return home with the healthy nerves, brains, and ear-drums that they came in with. So apart from this one thing concerning the terrible noise of those alarms, everything else about this Storage Facility is WONDERFUL!
