I was screwed over with the time as I didn't have the car for 24 hours/1 day yet I was charged another day. I was disappointed that I had to pay another day. Charles was very nice and VERY patient. Not only did he do a great job with multitasking with everything but he was able to get all the customers their trucks and vans in a reasonable time. I, personally was having a hard time paying due to my credit card being locked and not having enough cash but Charles made my day by simply having patience with me and keeping his composure as a worker. He has great customer service skills. I also would like to add that dropping off the van was very easy. There were a couple of workers on the floor at the time and they were very helpful with parking the van, and keeping up the cleaning with the other vans. They were simply nice and respectful. Overall, my experience was very pleasant and I will definitely come again. Thank you to all that was working the day I came. They made my moving day way better than it started off.Dwanet P.
I made a reservation on the phone and went to the facility and had to do it all over again even though I have a reservation number. I reserved a street unit. When I got there the unit given is on the basement. I am pregnant and this is not convenient. They unit was dirty and locked. Check in took forever. Inspite of correcting the check in staff, and giving them my ID, my name is still incorrectly spelt. No one shows you to your unit. It’s a maze to locate. When we got there the unit is locked! You have to go back to the staff and then be rushed because they have to leave. When I booked the unit I asked for the facility contact number. I must say I was very disappointed with the condition of the truck that was loan to us today. The vehicle is in dying need of maintenance service to the truck. I did not feel safe driving. The steeling wheel could not stay straight, the truck drove very shacky and not safe at all. I reported this to the store their response was as if they were not too concern. Extremely angry and disappointed with my experience. After a 2 day rental I came back to find my personal car towed out do the Uhaul parking lot. I asked if I could park there and was told yes. I was never given instructions at check in to not park in the lot, as there were other vehicles parked there when I had arrived. There is not one sign at all hanging at the desk or inside the facility saying parking is not allowed. I now have to add a 175 tow fee and 55$ Uber. This is upsurd. I was overcharged at this location. I took my pics before and after drop off. Their mileage and mine didn't add up. Emailed customer service but no reply. I always use uhaul for my moving needs but this location is robbing people. Please check your receipts and take pics at all times.Harryram R.

Although my experience with pick up and drop off was good. I did not enjoy my earlier experience. I have a confirmed rental and went to pick it up and the location was closed. I called Uhaul and they confirmed I was at the right location. After some time I was informed that the location no longer had a truck available. This inconvenienced me in the worse way possible. I had to cancel my house cleaner and movers as well as carpet cleaners. I lost money on those deposits. Then when they were able to find a truck it was an hour away from where I lived. I will never recommend Uhaul to anyone. I will never use Uhaul again. I attempted to speak to a manager and the rep sent me to the wrong one. The manager was than supposed to contact the manager who could assist me. That manager was supposed to be call me back and didn't get. This doesn't make good customer service.donald A.

Only complaint: There were tiny red bugs in the unit which gave us bites that were painful and itchy. The friend who helped us had to seek medical attention for a bite near his left eye. Overall: The staff was courteous and very helpful to an 82 year old woman and her helpers. Make sure that containers are checked before they are shipped so that wrong one does not arrive. In the description of the bin rental it says bins are cleaned in between uses but the ones I rented were filthy on the inside; had to clean myself. Also, when I picked them up no one offered to help me take them to my car. The bins are very heavy and I rented 12 of them. I was just told to grab them from the front of the store. Also, it was very inconvenient to have to drop them off all the way in Jamaica, Queens when I have a U-Haul down the block from my new apartment in the Bronx. We rented 4 trucks over a 3 week period and moved into 2 storage lockers. Overall, we were happy and are finally moved out of our old home, while we wait 4-6 weeks for our new home to go through renovations. U-Haul was great for our situation where we needed to move from one home to two different locations. Staff at all 3 locations weee super-friendly (Woodhaven Auto, U-Haul of Jamaica and U-Haul of Flushing). Some areas for improvement (I’ve included for truck rentals too) -the move in process was very time consuming (about 2 hrs), the web sign was problematic. We were in a hurry, but did not get clear information and had to change our locker due to issues finding it and lengthy walk/ride on elevators. -our truck reservations were bumped twice, because drivers didn’t return their trucks in time. This added a lot of stress to a stressful period. -we saw the U-box moving containers at the U-Haul of Jamaica Queens. It looks like a newer version, with steel construction - much better than the plywood boxes and orange tarp advertised by UHaul. I wish we knew about these newer boxes, because we would have used them and it would have been a much better product for our situation. The first gentleman who helped me was very nice. He recommended I pick up my truck from another location or come back to New York. When I got into New York with my truck it took me 30 minutes to get into the storage unit. The gentleman who was supposed to be on lunch was aggressive and angry and asked me why I didn’t register my card. Throughout the night I kept getting locked out of the facility due to my card not being registered. The worker was so busy arguing with another patron that I have to keep constantly asking him for help he didn’t guide me to the area where my storage unit was that. I only have one complaint, I made a late payment and a lock was added to my storage to deny access. That wasn’t really the issue. The issue was that the lock was on for a whole week even after the payment was made. I had to go during business hours to get it removed. That should be something the company stay on top of. I started renting a storage unit to housed my Grandmother’s most prized possessions. Thinking I was keeping them safe, this place turned out to be the worst decision I’ve ever made. When my unit was flooded it ruined my furniture with water and mildew damage. I was told that there was nothing they could due as I opted out of insurance. I explained that, I didn’t know insurance was an option, as no one informed me on any insurance when I started renting the unit. All I was told there’s nothing they can do. Which is completely unacceptable. My items can never be replaced. My other items that wasn’t affected were moved upstairs to a smaller unit, but I was still being charged the price of the larger unit. When I finally decided enough was enough. I came to remove my things to go elsewhere, only to find the rest of my future was ruined by RAT DROPPINGS! When this was brought to the staff attention, they said that was regular! I am truly disappointed and angry at the amount of unprofessionalism and just complete disregard of my belongings. I paid uhaul to ruin my future. While the workers that walk around the units and help were all very nice, the people at the front desk (with the exception of the two men that were there the day I officially moved out) were NO help. Uhaul owes me $30 and said they will have a manager contact me… that was 3 YEARS AGO!!!! Still haven’t gotten a refund or even a call back. They charge you over $100 to put your stuff in their dumpster, like what is the dumpster for if not to discard things, I paid $92.90 a month for a box and they still make you pay to throw out furniture. I have had the worst experience of my life for the past six months dealing with the Jamaica location. My family has used Uhaul since I was a kid for storage. But with this last experience I will not be returning and I am very close to writing a public review, since no one will get back to me or call me from customer service. My unit had rats, which fine- no big deal - it happens. I asked to walk away from the unit and leave the damaged goods behind. After months of no one following up with me, Melessa Toussaint reached out and gave me a refund for the months I had to wait and assured me there was nothing more I needed to do. Great! Moved on with Life. Fast forward, for months I receive late notices on the unit. I sent them to Melessa. Radio silence. Finally I contact customer support. She emails me I need to sign a letter of abandonment. After I have my questions answered about the letter by Cynthia, I sign it and send it over. I ask Melessa to confirm she received it. Radio silence again. A month goes by, I receive notice a LEIN is being placed on my CREDIT due to late notices. Over a unit that is CLOSED?! What? I call Melessa. I call customer service. No one can help me. Finally Melessa emails me back on e poorly written sentence that I have to sign the letter. I forwarded her the email, and resent the PDF. She just didn’t see I sent it? Then proceeded to ignore me for three more days. Then said she received it and said something about waiting on a dumpster to arrive? This has nothing to do with the fact that my credit has been wrongfully affected by Melessa’s Oversight. She literally ignores my emails completely, she has never even acknowledged her multiple errors during this entire experience. And no one has ever cared enough to even reach out to me and hear out my concerns. I was told to reach out to Will Wolof, I have called his office four times. Radio silence there too. I text him as well, nope. Nothing. How hard is it for anyone at Uhaul to give me a call? Ever? I am not crazy, or irrational. I just wanted basic decency and assistance which I never got. I got a call that the unit has been closed. Great. This doesn’t change the fact that no one has ever reached out to me, my credit has been damaged on a unit I never ever failed to make a payment on. The staff always have an attitude. The phone is hardly ever answered, my storage unit was so hot that my clothes were sticking to me. I had to keep walking down the hall because the light sensors would go off like every 5 to 10 minutes and it would be completely dark. My unit was not handicap accessible. So I had a hard time carrying beds and dressers up the stairs alone. The loading area is way too small. Cars and trucks were blocking each other. I've seen several large roaches to the point that I had to pay a service to throw all my belongings out for fear I would bring roaches to my new house. The bathroom was gross both in the storage facility and the main rental office. After all of that I wanted to rent a smaller 5x5 for some sealed plastic bins, but the way the staff treated me on my last visit made me just say forget it and I will NEVER use this company again nor will I recommend this company to friends or family.TENIA T. | Overall Experience
