Have the agent tell you BEFORE you load the truck from their units that the previous renter of the truck said it had a irritating noise in cab and a vibration - but said they didn't hear it. Well, it did have an irritating noise for 1200 miles along with the vibration at 55 plus mph.Joe D.

I would never use the Marshalltown old smart site again. Manager rented me a trailer to move a utv that I couldn't fit the utv in. Even though it was over sized for the utv, the gate was to narrow to drive through. When I asked for at least partial refund was refused, he couldn't remember renting me the trailer for that use...it's on the computer. Never, Ever again!tim H.
Trailer wiring harness was mangled and wrapped in electrical tape when I picked the trailer up. Blew multiple fuses in my vehicle while trying to track down the problem. Eventually unwrapped the electrical tape and found the source. Had to cut out the bad section of wires and splice everything back together, problem solved. Except it cost me 2 hours on the day that I was supposed to be packing and moving. Asked for some money to be refunded for my trouble and was told since I didn't report it at the time (which would have taken even more of my time) I can't get a refund. Will be sharing this awful experience with everyone I know.Michael A.

The store was staffed with one person on a busy Saturday morning near the end of the month when activity was high. I stood in line for 20 minutes with four others waiting for the staff to come in from the parking lot where he was working with another customer. I returned my rental early, but still received a call 30 minutes after it was due asking where it was. The company needs to be more organized and staff at least 3 employees at a time to effectively help customers.Barbara S.

I dropped the trailer off after hours and the online drop off went smooth. I was very upset the next day to find out my supposed $116 bill that I signed for when i picked the trailer up had grown to $280.00. Husband called the Marshalltown location just to find out the wrong trailer # had been put on my paper at pickup. Supposedly they are fixing it at the Marshalltown location but will see what the charges are when all this BS is done.ASHLEY M.

The cargo van I rented had animal hair in the driver and passenger seats and also in the cargo area. A quick vacuum would have probably taken care of the hair. The vehicle also smelled like livestock. Other than those issues our experience was good.troy D.

The only problem is I went in by 8am on June 30th and spoke with Juan. Everything was paid for. Dropoff location in Coralville Iowa, miles allowed, dolly and rugs for packing were all confirmed. My husband was just supposed to come in at 11am and have then copy his drivers license. He went in and had to wait for over a half an hour. The girl could not find the reservation, tried to add insurance and changed the drop off location to Cedar Rapids.David A.

Why in the world would you not let me have the trailer for a third day? It really pushed us to exhaustion. No one else was renting it on the third day it just sat there. I had it rented at the local level then I got a call from higher up taking the third day away because they wanted it available in case someone wanted it for the weekend I wanted it ! What do you care who rents it? The whole thing was just bureaucratic nonsense instead of common sense! Taking more money from me the original renter would be the same money as renting to a phantom new person who never appeared anyway! Stupid!Conni D.

The young man who pulled my reservation, Juan Velez, did an excellent job of customer service and was very courteous. He was the only one on duty and I felt bad for him because the keys for the truck I was assigned were missing. Someone failed to make a note in the U-Haul system that the truck was out of service. Juan was the only person on duty and the phones kept ringing and people were coming in for service. He maintained his composure, but the stress was unwarranted. U-Haul needs to have two people staffing the facilities to help with customer service. There is no quick way to rent a truck, no matter what U-Haul advertises. It takes time, so please get more help in your centers so people like Juan don't have other customers blaming him for it taking so long to buy boxes. He did a FANTASTIC job and deserves recognition for his work.Shelly M.

Excellent customer service. Easy to pick up trailer, easy to drop off at same location the next day. Only issue was that the door spring apparently sprung while I was using it and could only close the back door about two thirds of the way on return trip home due to sprung tension cables catching on rollers. Used bungee cords to keep it partially closed. When dropping off, Uhaul employee said no problem, we'll get it fixed. Overall, great experience except for the door which thankfully closed part way keeping large items inside while traveling.DANIEL G.

I wish the storage spaces were a little larger for the prices that UHAUL charges. I used to have a storage shed that was 15x18x20 and it cost me $80 plus tax and I had 24 hour access but there was very little security with those sheds and there weren't any available to me at this time. Found it frustrating that I made reservations 1 month in advance for a large storage room and was told they didn’t have any available the day I arrived. Was told there was nothing they could do and they had nothing available, waited on hold for support from office managers for 25 minutes and then magically was told, well I guess we have 1 storage unit available. Was also told garage doors open automatically, but doors did not. Had to get office workers to open doors and let us in. After that, most things went smoothly. At the beginning of our experience there seemed to always be screws and nails in front of the parking lot. Seems to me the employees of this u-haul need to establish a daily routine of going around and making sure things are picked up and clean. Also we had on our day of moving out a roach came out from under a box. We now had to go through everything and make sure we were not taking with us these bad and nasty cruisers. Think if they would bomb every other month to prevent this from happening. Other than these the staff is differently helpful. Chris the manager bends over backwards in making things right.
