The ladies were awesome. Truck was great - EXCEPT- the windshield was full of splattered dead bugs that caused some difficulty seeing. I used the ww wipers and there was fluid but that was not enough to clean up the windows. The windshield needed to be power cleaned with soapy hot water but it was not done. First of all it shouldn't take hours to get a reserved rental. There were maybe 6 people in line ahead of of me and one guy there to handle everybody. That's taking care of business inside and outside.Theres just no way he could handle the workload. Plus the tire blew out on my travels, which cost me a considerable amount of time because of the wait for someone to come change the wheel. Prior inspection could have prevented this. instead, I spent about 5hrs on a time stressed weekend attending to Uhauls customer experience. But Uhaul made possible a transport that I couldn't have done without them, so that's why I said that I would reccommend it to others. It had nothing to do with Uhaul's great courtesy, it's the only thing working right now!William A.

U-Haul's rates are very affordable, which is why I chose them when I needed to pack up items in my son's dorm room and move them back home. The Merrillville, IN location has friendly and accommodating staff. The cargo van I rented was clean and functioned really well. The Merrillville, IN location also seems to have a substantial amount of vehicles and equipment on site. I've rented from this location twice, and I've always been able to get the type of vehicle I needed.Chiquia H.

I will not ever go there again you sales lady likes to fleet with the men and treat females like dirt she lied to me after she told me she would take the 20.00 charge for gas's off after she tried several times she said she thought she took it off but it locked her out. She told me she would make sure it was off; I then got a charge for it. She told me that it was to late because it went though. I asked to talk to the manager she got really shitty with me and told me she didn't tell me she would take it off I left several messages for the manager to call me back and never did. I have a witness to what she said to me. She also told me that ripple who work there don't put the right gas amount I the tank. Not sure what the point is of asking customers to fill out all the information on line only to have your clerks rehash everything in person. Tremendous waste of time. Answered all my questions! However, I rented a 20 foot truck. I took a tape measure and measured the bed, it was 16 feet. Grandmas' space above the cabin was 2.5 feet. The trailer I was renting was parked in back in the snow. I couldn't get the door to open because it was full of ice. After 15 minutes of the employee chipping ice and spraying de icing spray we were able to get it open. I am extremely disappointed with U-Haul. All of my furniture is WATER DAMAGED and MOLDY. I rented a CLIMATE CONTROLLED unit and paid extra for INSURANCE. I had to throw half of my furniture away. I have several pictures of my damaged furniture and a leaking wall in my unit. The insurance policy is BOGUS. I expect a refund for my damaged furniture and will be sending a detailed complaint to U-Haul. I initially went to Pine Island location because I had reserved a unit online, but they could not find the reservation. The unit was transferred, TO ME. because my brother was going through a divorce and that storage unit was mostly all my deceased parents his stuff, birds he also was diagnosed with cancer so did it as a favor, as he wanted me to have whatever I could of my parents. Well the cancer did not get him, He ended up being murdered not even a year after switching that unit over then I was in the hospital very very very ill got behind payments and Covid hit, I know it is not U-Haul‘s fault but there is no way I could catch the payments up as for everything else was behind also since I was in the hospital and so sick. I mean you have to have lights and water and food, now I have been sent a notice that they auctioned it off for $450 and want to sue me for $1160 so as my brother had two other unitsWith U-Haul between him and the payments I did pay before going into the hospital I just don’t think it’s fair that I’m getting served with being sued nowmargaret k. | Overall Experience

We rented a uhaul on July 13th and the scheduled pick up was July 24th at 7 am. We found out on July 23rd we didn’t have a uhaul available and the closet one was an hour from our location. We changed pick up locations and times to July 23rd at 7pm. We arrived at the Knox location only to find out it was closed and no one was available. We finall ended up getting a truck an hour later without a dolly that we paid for.. With the one way trip we qualified for a free month of storage which is an hour from where we needed but that was fine. We got go our storage in merrillville only to find out they didn’t have w storage unit available like we were told. We had to drive another hour to find a storage until and then another 20 min to drop the truck off where we were told we still owed $33. This has been the worst experience with a moving company I’ve ever had. We have to rental another uhaul in august and I’m considering taking my business elsewhere if we aren’t properly compensated. Extremely poor reception by associate Scott Wells when I first arrived to get a storage unit. I had pulled in, in front of the gate as I had a trailer behind me. I couldn't fit my vehicle into a parking spot obviously, nor did I want to be out in the street blocking traffic. Scott was very annoyed that I was blocking the gate and scolded me for blocking access to his existing customers who may be trying to get into the gate. I apologized and asked where he'd like me to move while I wait my turn to rent a unit. He waved in a very non-specific manner towards the roadway and said he was very busy and would get to me when he could. As someone who also works in the front-line customer service industry, I understand the frustrations of being overworked and underpaid, but there is no justification for this awful behavior. Will NOT recommend this establishment to anyone. It's also not my fault that the property is poorly designed and too small to accommodate larger vehicles with trailers. Extremely disappointing. Clearly this is a retirement job for Mr. Wells that he cares nothing about and is doing this to pass the time. Management should make note of this in his annual review.chris c. | First Impressions
