Tammy was fantastic at checking us in and explaining the process of arming, access, using elevator, etc. Dominique was excellent at explaining everything after I realized that everything I thought I knew was just slightly off in my head. The freight elevator is my new favorite vertical transport device.

I suppose my lack of familiarity with the fuel gauge made me think that the tank was probably full when I initially looked at the van, but I realized later that whichever staff checked in the van probably did not represent that accurately (though it was marked on my rental document as being full). I think I drove the van for about 30 miles, but found that it took over 6 gallons of gas to fill to "full". Of course the gauge registered well above the "F" once that was done. While I do expect fuel economy to be quite different than in a regular car, I imagine that it probably is better than 5 miles per gallon - especially since there was no idling or extra time spend with the engine running. Other than that, it was a smooth rental and fine experience.

Booking was easy. We had reserved a truck and a dolly. When we arrived 10 min early, the woman at the counter was rude stating that we couldn't pick the truck up until 2 as it wasn't there. The other person at the desk commented that we could start the paper work, which we did. We were then informed that they did not have a dolly for rent. The mentioned the potential to take one of the ones for sale, but the first woman rudely commented that we would need to pay for the full price if it was even scratched. We ended up renting a furniture dolly. The rest of the experience and the equipment was fine. Overall experience was rated as average because the one individual was just unnecessarily rude. I would not recommend this location as there are others within a short drive.

The parking lot should be paved instead of gravel. Trucks should not be parked next to holes when the customer has to do a walk around. Doing a walk around on passenger side of truck before leaving lot, my foot went into a deep hole and I fell and my knee was badly scraped up and in order to get up, I had to use the truck next to the truck I was renting to get up.

It was unacceptable that we were made to scan in drivers license on a smart phone ourselves - customer rep insisted they couldn't take the license in hand and enter information or scan into system themselves - its a bit ridiculous. Also anytime I have pre entered or scanned info in advance online - I still have to do it in the store. It would be fast and way more convenient for you to hand license to your counter staff and have them process the rental! I will not be renting from UHAUL again

The gas tank was at “E” when I picked it up. Concerned that I wouldn’t even make it to a gas station , filled it up with $101.00 worth of gas only to drop it off with 3/4 of a tank still in it. Took a huge hit in the wallet for that of about 70 dollars of which I won’t see. I will look at Penske or elsewhere next time. At least the next guy will have some fuel and not feel screwed. Any response would be welcomed. Although I’m sure you’ll ignore my request.

You should alert customers that trucks are commercial vehicles and may be restricted on certain roadways and tolls by mail will be charged after the rental ends.

The building is old and dirty. There is only ONE elevator that only moves when you manually crank a lever. So when one person is putting their things in storage, everyone else has to wait for them to bring the elevator back down. It is extremely inefficient and wastes other customer's time. Furthermore, the elevator never stops flush to the floor - once a person stopped the elevator at the wrong time and we had to lift our heavy things at least six inches just to get it out of the elevator. It was a headache. The unit they gave us was 808, when we walked in, there were large dead bugs on the windowsill, huge spiderwebs, and a rat poison trap on the floor. I was disgusted. Then we noticed that the board on the wall had peeled at the corner meaning that there was a hole in the wall! You could see water stains on the wall next to the window. I was so upset! I didn't want my things to get wet and moldy while it was in storage. So I took a picture, and showed the employees asking for a new unit. The first thing they did was deny that there was a hole in the wall even though I showed them the picture. Then they said there weren't any units left. When they realized that I was quite upset - this was unacceptable - they offered me a smaller unit (which means they lied about not having any left. Just to double check that there was indeed a hole in the wall and to disprove the employees' claim that there was a window behind the board, we threw a penny through the opening (now we are down a penny). Just as we suspected, it flew right through. In the new unit they gave us, Unit 859 I believe, when we opened it up, it was pitch black. We turned on our phone flashlights just to discover an equally disgusting unit: dirty floors, cobwebs, and rat poison. But something was off: there were pieces of straw and sticks on the floor with a few bird feathers. Low and behold we heard chirping above our heads. THERE WAS A BIRDS NEST ABOVE MY UNIT. We mentioned this to the employees as well and they didn't have a response. This means they must have gotten this complaint before and have done nothing to address it. I wanted to cry. What if the birds pooped on my stuff in storage and we catch a disease from it? It was too late to switch storage units since it is college move-out season and everywhere else is booked. Distraught and disappointed, I put my things in the unit and locked it. UHUAL (once I take my stuff out the unit in August) PLEASE SEND AN INSPECTOR TO THIS BUILDING. THEY ARE VIOLATING NUMEROUS SAFETY CODES. THE BUILDING IS BEYOND REPAIR JUST TEAR IT DOWN.

Staff was rude/not helpful. Van was filthy so many bugs on thw window I had to stop at a gas station to wash it! Van interior smelled so bad I had to drive with the windows down the entire time ! Mirrors on Van were broken and replaced with silver cardboard . Tire pressure monitor not working. Asked for a. Different Van and was told no. (I took pictures) when I booked the uhaul it said 89 cents a. Mile and. They charged me 1.09 a mile of course ot didn't say how much on my reservation so it felt like a. Bait and switch situation. And. I don't rent uhauls often however with my kids in college I've been renting twice a. Year. To move them other locations vans were. Much better. But after this experience I may find a. Different rental company.

When I picked up the UHAUL the milage was 66533 when I dropped it off the millage was 66583, a total of 50 miles. I was charged for 51 miles, 66582-66583. It's only .89 cents so not a big issuer for me.

The owner was very rude. She spoke very fast and rushed customers out. Anyone who had questions she was dismissive and short. I had a 75 dollar hold on my bank card and when I inquired she blamed the bank and pointed to a sign that I apparently should have seen while being rushed through the check in process. The other employees were friendly although you could tell they were afraid to speak up in front of the “boss”. The parking lot was very poorly labeled. I have a very small car and had trouble getting around the tight parking lot. I could get past the dated equipment and the challenges of the location but I would not recommend this location based on the poor customer service from the owner.

The manager would not save my autopay information. She charged me three times for late fees because of mistakes on her end. We set up autopay at the beginning and twice more. We had to sit on hold with uhaul support for hours every time to contest the late fees. $15/90+ was waived. Absolutely frustrating. Do not recommend storing at this location.

The only reason I used this facility is due to its close proximity to student housing for my daughter. There is another U-Haul about 8 minutes away that I would give 5 stars. This facility location was 2 minutes away The website DOES NOT mention that the only ONE elevator is closed at 6pm and on weekends earlier. So I found out the hard way that I had to climb up 3 flights on narrow wooden staircases with boxes. Plus the elevator is a manual and requires lifting gates and turning a lever to go up and down. Elevator from the 30’s. And if the elevator is being used on the upper floor then you have to wait until it comes down by the operator or you can try asking for assistance from the office. Well good luck with that. I asked and had to find the elevator by myself. The owner and staff know they have a captive audience with students who are less reluctant to complain. I did told them that they should have put everything on the website. Their reply was no reply. I gave it 2 stars because in the end I managed and I didn’t have a heart attack.

They really gave me the most inconvenient storage unit 7 feet up when the one underneath was available and they shut the elevators down when I got there. On top of that the floor was so busted up the portable staircase was stuck in the floor. I’ve already spread the word this is not a good place to store your stuff..and I’ll continue to preach that to everyone I know.

Our unit was on the 7th floor and poorly lit, damp and freezing. Window out. Drafty. Drywall seperated and falling down in the unit. Entrance and parking was fine. I wouldn't advise fragil or cold sensitive items on the upper floors that have windows out. There is no heat and we paid for climate controlled thinking it was secured from the eliments and dampness.

You truly have angels working at your downtown Syracuse Erie blvd storage location. From the day I placed my things there to the day I retrieved them, your staff were truly amazing. I wish I had names to thank them more personally. It is hard to find caring and compassionate people and that is because they all work at that location. Please reward the staff in it’s entirety. They truly deserve it!

The storage elevator is very outdated, and carrying your things up and down those stairs are dangerous, I'm surprised no one has been hurt on those stairs.

It's extremely difficult to navigate the elevator. If you are a person with disabilities this location is not the right place for anyone in those conditions to rent from because of the inability to get to where you are going

Not only did they charge me for a month of storage when I moved out 2 weeks prior, (even though they processed a refund) it was extremely inconvenient to my Christmas shopping for my daughter. But before this happened, I rented a truck and was charged for 3 days when I only used it for 2. And then charged twice and only refunded $30. I will never use this location again in my life and maybe won’t even use uhaul for rental. Two bad experiences in a 2 month span did it for me.
