Good service, one way to improve the storage area is a clearly designated active loading and unloading zone so all customers actively loading or unloading have access to the main door. Once truck is empty or full it can be moved to a close by spot, that way the next person comig in isn't blocked.Terri C.
My reservation was changed by uhaul to a location farther away from my storage unit after I made my online reservation. The call center committed to giving my a 50 mile credit for being flexible because the truck I reserved online would not be available from the location I reserved it from. I spoke to 5 different people and when I returned the equipment, I was assured it would be taken care of. I was charged for the full amount if the rental and my phone calls were not documented, and no one responded to my email after I waited to see if uhaul would adjust the charges as promised.Alicia T.

The old Seward location is terrible, I went there first before I got the notification that my reservation was changed to Boundary. The Old Seward employees were slow and rude. The Samoan gentleman was very nice but didn't seem to know much about the job. The other guy, a skinny white guy, was really abrupt and rude. The service was extraordinarily slow as well. I waited 30+ minutes to be told I was at the wrong location and there wasn't anything they can do. The nice Samoan guy was apologetic and helpful but the other guy was rude and aloof. The Boundary location was far better. Very quick service and the employees were all very friendly, helpful, and nice. The truck I received was pretty terrible. - the check engine light was on and the truck drove somewhat erratically - the drivers seat was damaged and sloped to the left so I was sliding off the seat towards the door - the drivers seat didn't move forward at all so I couldn't reach the pedals - I had to STRETCH my body and lean back so I could drive. It felt really unsafe. - the middle section in between the two seats was also torn - the passenger side door has to be SLAMMED shut or it doesn't close properly. This was really inconvenient as it took multiple tries every time - there was no ramp attached/included which would have been nice to know ahead of time when booking my vehicle as that was also rather inconvenient - the doors took a lot of force to close as well The truck was clean and the AC worked great so that's a positive. Mobile check in/check out process was really easy I returned the truck with more gas than it came with so I do feel as if I was overcharged a bit.Ashlea S.

Your "corporate" system is HORRIBLE. I went to pick up my truck at a place that supposedly offered 24/7 pick up. I showed up at my pick up time with no way to get my truck! I had to return the next day to pick up my truck. This cost me two additional rides, one taxi and one uber to get the truck. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT or the wasted time. You guys knew this location couldn't do business that way because ALL of their trucks were stolen a week or two prior to the rental. The crooks destroyed the boxes used for the keys. The location itself deserves a 5 star rating, but U-Haul corporate deserves zero stars.Michael S.

It was not this location's fault at all, but Traffic did not have a Uhaul available at the location I reserved (months ahead), and I had to pick it up at this location. I was late meeting my movers. Ironically, as I checked out, a message on the screen said, "Remember - your rental will be available WHERE and WHEN you reserved it for." That is in regard to the Anchorage Traffic office. Meanwhile, the employees at THIS location (Boundary Ave) were exceptional, going above and beyond in being helpful. I was traveling with a small child, and checkout could have been chaotic and stressful, but the staff made everything go smooth. It was a pleasant and positive experience because they made it so. I took pictures of the vehicle at the dropoff location, including the mileage and fuel. I returned the vehicle with exactly 1/4 of a tank. The needle was dead center of the line and have a picture showing this. After drop off, I was charged $28.50 for fuel and the paperwork said it was at 1/8 of a tank, which is not accurate. I called and spoke to the manager and he indicated I was mistaken and did not want to see the picture. As a "courtesy" he said he'd reverse the charges. I got the receipt via email and he reimbursed only $25.50 (I acknowledge this could have been user error and a number was transposed). I spent the next 1 hour and 35 minutes on the phone with various customer service agents to get back the money that was erroneously chargedDaniel W.

The truck came with a quarter tank of gas. I was told to put it back at a quarter when I was done. That's a vague amount of gas with several variables. I brought it back with a half a tank of gas ( 35 dollars worth) and found out the bill was 20 dollars more than originally quoted. All and all it cost me 117 dollars to rent a 10 ft truck for a couple hours. Kind of a big difference between that and 19.95 as advertised.TYLER S.

Customer service was inconsistent. Employees were nice and helpful in person. They unfortunately didn't mark my return for 6/24 as I requested in May when I made the reservation and again when I arrived. I was told to book another reservation to be sure I had a van secured the extra two days (so I did). A couple days into our reservation, I received a call from the manager (Rick) who was adamant that I return the U-Haul immediately. When I tried to explain that I had requested to drop it off two days later both with the U-Haul 800 number and in person, he loudly huffed and said â€œwhatever, fine thenâ€ and hung up the phone. All of the people we were with were flabbergasted by the conversation. I have never experienced a U-Haul location or service like that in our 15+ years of using U-Hauls across the country. Rick left a bad taste in our mouths and I will definitely be looking at alternatives in the future.Sara B.

The car dolly that I rented was broken. The ramp on the drivers side would not pull out of the slide in order to actually load the vehicle I was trailering. This caused me to risk injury to myself to load the vehicle in a very dangerous manner by using a vehicle jack to raise the car and back the dolly under it. I told the employee who received the car dolly and he seemed very uninterested in the fact that their dolly was not working properly. I was given my contract/gas sheet before taking my rental and the gas was highlighted at 3/4, and I was told to return it at 3/4. I returned the truck at 7/8, almost completely full. And I was charged for 15 gallons of gas because they told me I did not fill it up before I returned it.NICOLE W.

I had many issues with the facility. Staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be, but they were overwhelmed. Way too many customers for way too little staff. I almost always had to wait. When I signed up for a unit, I was asked to sign an agreement, but was not given time to read it or given any paperwork. There was also a lock on my unit when I went to use it and I had to walk all the way back to ask staff to remove the lock (and wait for them to stop assisting other customers). When I arrived to move my belongings in, carts were being horded by other customers. These customers were not actively using the carts to transport items, but spent 30 minutes going through the belongings in their unit. I asked respectfully to use a cart and was declined. I then asked the staff for assistance. They did nothing to stop the cart hording. Also, while moving in my belongings, I was told on one occasion that I could not access the floor with my unit for an hour, because they were waxing the floor. I told them I needed to move everything out of my apartment that day and disregarded them and moved my belongings in anyway. In a month, I visited my unit about 14 days to move things in (and subsequently move things out). A number of times, alarms were going off. I have stored at other facilities and have never heard a single alarm. So something appeared to be going wrong with the alarm system. I had issues with getting my access card to work. I went and spoke to staff about it (Again, after waiting). They gave me an access number. I then realized that my alarm did NOT work at all. I even tested this out by not logging in and opening my unit - no alarm. I notified staff about this and asked them to have a manager call me about prorating my unit's rent. (I wanted to move out immediately and feel that UHaul is in breach of contract for not honoring the alarms they promised me). I waited a day. The manager never called me. I decided to move my belongings to another storage facility, but to wait until my month expired, because it was clear I was not going to be treated with respect or dignity. Customer service is important to me. If a facility will have this many things wrong with it and not own up to the issues and fix them, then that is a huge disservice to the community at large and to me.john s. | Overall Experience

My items were stolen as we were moving out. I called and management didn’t do anything, he never even took my name down but said he’d call me back, which he never did. The woman who stole the items had been there for days rummaging through peoples’ items as well as the free pile. It looked like she was trying to stay in the facility after everyone left, possibly staying in a unit. I have yet to receive a call back about my stolen items. I was transferred to multiple departments that ultimately left in a deadend with no one to answer me or the ability to leave a voicemail. Through either mistakes, incompetence, or criminal behavior all the items in my storage unit were disposed of FIVE days after I started to put them into the unit, using the access code I had been assigned. In addition I am being charged late fees for a unit (1027) that was not my unit. An insurance claim has been opened to recover a portion of the value of the items that have been lost. I am still in shock that, as an aritist, I have lost the majority of my artwork and that of others that I collected. I have also lost family heirlooms going back over 100 years. Also my jewelry and my passport. This is an active case. I have refrained from going public with my experience at this time as we work through claim process. A police report was filed. There was a lot of confusing and moving units at first because of damage to locking mechanism on the first one, then told to go to another, then another, and finally got one that wasn’t being used. The storage unit was like working in an oven or sauna. Unnecessary hot. After hours the sliding door did not work with my access code making it impossible to move things in and out after I got off work. On most occasions there where no carts available, and people parked right in front of the door, making it difficult to load my truck. There were a lot of homeless people hanging around, and weird people riding around on the carts inside the building. It was frustrating when we first started using the storage facility years ago. According to corporate policy they determine what units to open and when. We walked by 15-20 empty units to get to ours. I shouldnt have to pay extra to access my belongings after hours. i work 72 hours a week and accessing my unit before 7pm could be difficult to do. All the staff was great, but them not having a good telephone system or intra messaging system that working properly caused me stress trying to reach someone in the store. I kept getting reservations which they couldn't help me. A good team needs equipment/ tools that works to get the job done. the staff made up for the lack of communication due to the equipment not working and me not being able to get a hold of someone.alicia b. | Overall Experience

Returned a box truck after hours. The procedure to check it back in on my cell phone did not work. Please check your site to ensure ease of use and accurate instructions. Over the past millennia, all of my experiences with U-Haul have been great. The counter person at this location gives outstanding customer service. A salary increase is highly warranted.
