The lady at the front desk was terrible. The online experience is unclear / website false advertises. I was stuck paying WAY more than I ever should of for my move. I will never be using uhaul again.

I reserved the truck over the phone with the 1-800 number. Pick up time was 1:00 PM and it took over an hour to get one because the How Lane location did not have a truck available at all. Then what is the point of making a reservation if you dont stand behind your promises? When we went to the counter on how lane we sensed the horrible service you provide as more than one unhappy customer was arguing with the dispatch lady. The person selling us the fridge we were picking up with the truck had other commitments for that day and was very upset we made it to him over 90 min late. Moreover, we went from a $29.99 rate plus mileage price according to the representative over the phone, to a $204.87 charge and the distance to the place we were picking up our appliance was 16 miles away. I cannot believe I just paid that much to bring a used fridge home. If I would have been told about all the other fees you would charge like a reputable company would have done, I would have decided to bring the fridge some other way and not rent that truck. I was starting considering hiring your company to move my business to a different commercial space, but you can count on not getting any business from me ever again.

Everything was great except the price of renting u-haul. In my calculation, one dallar for every mile. Thete no different between u-haul and a moving company.

Shari the manager was very rude and unprofessional. I had to wait 30 minutes for her to take a picture of the van and the time was deducted from my two hour reservation. Stay away from this place it's a scam. I returned my truck and they said they will email me my receipt, my receipt had $40 of additional charges for damage. I did not damage the vehicle. I called customer service to inquire about the charges and waited on the phone for 29 minutes with no answer. This is the second time I used this place and had horrible experiences both times.

I had the unfortunate experience to return a truck, and get a storage at this location. We spent 98 mins (over 1.5 hours) before we were attended to - inspite and actually, especially for such a busy location like that. My brother (who is a mover) said if he knew that was the location I had chosen, he would have advised me against that particular location, ‘cos it always busy (good thing) but they were never, ever, ever equipped to handle the line. He said, they are always short staffed and ill equipped on customer service – go figure. Inspite of the long line, the Front Desk lady (who also happened to be the Manager) WASTED soooooo much time just chatting herself away. Sadly, she was the only person there on a Friday (yes, start of weekend) - just imagine that. When some of the waiting customers & I “dared to question why there aren’t other people around to assist her” she actually STOPPED from attending to people already waiting to DEFEND her storage that, “she could not find people to hire” Yeap, she said that. Can you imagine a company like UHaul stating that, they could not find people to hire for minor jobs like “showing people around the storage, checking the trucks, cleaning the places, etc” so she can focus on the paperwork upfront? We denoted that is not true, unless (a) they are not willing to pay well, (b) not paying on time, (c) most applicants and/or workers knew they suck and do NOT want to work with them. Well, something is not adding up here - how come they cannot hire minimum wage to assist in the minor tasks taking her away from the desk? When she finally got to attend to us, she actually chimed that, "she was doing us a favor by honoring the FREE storage room that was offered to us by Uhaul." - again, imagine that. She was doing us a favor :) She also INSISTED that we need to getfor their own insurance. Unbeknownst to her, I know for a fact that I do NOT have to take their $1,000 coverage @ $7.95 when my homeowner’s insurance covers my things in the storage. Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of it with me, so she insisted on slapping the additional $7.95 to my account until I bring the paper. FYI - be educated that, you do NOT have to take any forced insurance, call you insurance and bring a copy with you BEFORE you get to any storage location - that is one of the scams to get additional money from you. Lastly, when she finally showed us the storage, can you again believe this lady “informed us to arrange at preventing rodents in THEIR STORAGE." Yes, she blatantly told us that, there are mice and rats in HER storage – isn’t that something she would deal with, but she was telling us to arrange to deal with that. My take about this place – if you can locate another storage, skip this one. The condition of the place and the service is not worth your while. Leave her to her defending attitude instead of listening and making corrections to the place.

Rented pickup truck to move some furniture in town. Rental was for 2 days, but returned early 2nd day. You would think I rented a Rolls Royce, given the delivery inspection. Anything that is, was or could ever turn into anything was marked by a circular plastic sticky. And I was warned multiple times that even with the insurance I took, i would still be responsible for the $150 deductible for ANYTHING that was not already noted. It's a utility pickup truck. Sorry, last time I rent from uhaul. That's why I returned a day early, and was still charged for the full 2 days!! And as FYI, many of those plastic stickers fell off! Too much stress for what is a typical utility pickup truck rental.

I was asked to provide another phone number for "verification" when I went to pickup a trailer. I did so and the attendant called the phone but my wife was unavailable. I was told that without another verification she wasn't allowed to let me have the trailer but would let it "slide" I have rented my many vehicles from Penske & Home Depot and was never asked to provide another phone number for verification. I provided my photo license and credit card. I had many other forms of ID but wasn't asked. The process was slow and not very professional. I will not rent from U Haul again.

Do not use uhaul. 1st place gave away the rental that I reserved night before and sent me to North Brunswick. When I go there tells me I cannot use a cargo van for transporting (plastic clear totes), then tries to tell me with the Van's they charge for every nick so it's in my best interest not to use and the other small trucks arenot for 24 hour use. When returning the van the person wander away to help someone when I noticed him outside checking van I said am I suppose to be here response was "I know you arrogant so you stayed inside. Then tells me I am responsible for a nick which we did not inside van door. For 4 years I have used uhaul once a year but never again after this.

The location in North Brunswick was great. Only problem is...It wasn’t where I was suppose to pick up my UHaul...I was all set for a pick up at Santelli’s in Bridgewater, until I got a call about an hour prior to pick up from someone who worked there saying that he never had the truck I reserved at the facility..I guess the same people the contact me saying my reservation is all set can’t contact me when there are issues...So instead of having to drive 5 miles to the Bridgewater location, I had to drive 15 miles to North Brunswick. It wouldn’t be a big deal, except that part of MY responsibility is paying for mileage, even though UHaul made the mistake. The woman at the North Brunswick location was great, but UHaul dropped the ball and I am very unsatisfied.

I will never rent from Uhaul again. The policy for renting vans is long and unbearable. The way they review the van before and after rental is beyond compheresion. Looking for minor blemishes. It's a moving van not a Rolls Royce. Again the staff was helpful but the process unbearable

I waited for 2 hours to get a U-Haul and yet I had reserved. The owner(Shari ) is friendly and jovial but she needs helpers especially at the end/beginning of the month.

The person at the desk took a very long time with the customer in front of us, never acknowledged us, and I made my reservation online. He asked us if we completed our reservation online while we waited and I said yes, and he just handed me the keys. I didn't appreciate the lack of customer service.

I originally was told I the first 100 miles were free, but I did not use the vehicle for what I had planned and I only traveled 16 miles for which I was charged $1.29 per mile. I thought that was a very shady.

The staff they DO have was wonderful. Definitely need more employees. Did everything online and also early check in but still had to wait 2 hours for a truck. Loved the stuff but felt bad they could not handle all on their own, 1 person at a time.

No one checked truck upon return just asked to return key and let go. After an hour got email that truck is charged for cleaning services.

There is a shortage of staff that makes this process way long. Although each person empathised with her being alone, walking in or ordering online does not make a difference. You k ow you are going to wait for over an hour. This was more than lack of staff. We are wanting to rent a van, but there were none available. Online it says there are available vans. In the back there was a whole line of them, but when requested there are "none". Three people came, waited, and left while I was waiting. There was an issue being resolved (and there always is). So i see that it's not staff, but the online scheduler/inventory is not matching the real way things work.
