The 3700 Bigelow St location has been problematic each time we've booked with them. The person who identified themselves as "Shelley" and as the office manager is constantly rude, has threatened to cancel our reservation when asked for clarification. This location has erroneously charged the wrong debit card, instead of the one on file, and Shelley was nothing but rude and attempted to offer no help at all, despite it being a mistake caused by the Uhaul staff. It is ALWAYS an issue here. I do not feel safe booking services from this location and it has, on more than one occasion, question if it is in our best interest to continue to work with Uhaul. This is a brand that we trust and are sticking with, at the moment. But this cannot continue to be a dynamic with a managing representative of this brand.SHANON W.

I drove a total of 13 miles, and when I topped off the fuel before dropping it off, it took 8.25 gallons. Clearly it was not full when I picked it up, because these trucks do not get 13/8.25 = 1.5 mpg. So they scammed me out of something like 6 gallons of gas, which was ~$20. Of course, they â€œcan't do anything to refundâ€ me for the fuel. But they certainly would have charged me if it wasn't topped off. Disgusting. I'll be looking for a class action suit I can join.William K.

The online check-in process is horrible. It took me at least twice as long, if not more, to check in on my phone vs. when I used to do it in person. Also, the app gave me the wrong code for the key box. Luckily the place was still open, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to get my vehicle.Donald B.

The van was quite damaged and dirty, the reference photos appeared to be off a different van. Taking photos of the van at the beginning also was broken on the website, it was a pretty terrible UI experience. The page was reloaded and it caused things to advance and you could not go back to the last page. Eventually o just gave up when I saw that the rental was in progress on my account - though I was unable to confirm the starting mileage and starting gas levelKevin S.

Customer service was poor at the very start of the process of picking up this van due to the overwhelmingly self possessed individual whose job it is to serve the customer. Not this one. Perhaps the most belligerent customer service person I have encountered was on 8/22/21 at the Oakland Uhaul office at about 4 PM. Everyone has a bad day once in a while but this customer service rep was using her position to bolster her own ego. Perhaps the office attitude flows from the top but those charged with treating the customer well below the manager should have the attitude to serve the customer , not Brie beat the customer. Perhaps this office has problems and history that is difficult but in my many past rentals with the Uhaul organization I can not recall having been questioned as though I were a subject for demeaning scrutiny, rather than straight forward verification of my bona fide identification as a renter of Uhaul equipment. Certainly Uhaul should be concerned, about the CSR on duty on 8/23 and perhaps how that office is managed. If I were the responsible area VP, I'd asked a few questions. Uhaul is a good organization. But every organization has segments needing attention. Oakland office in Pittsburgh unfortunately is one of them. QEDPaul L.

Renting at this location was horrible. I waited 15 minutes for the clerk to show up at the office - outside personnel were no help in locating the clerk. I was treated rudely during the entire time by the clerk who was clearly annoyed to be working there. The assigned va.n was blocked and when I went in to request it be moved out, I was treated with more annoyance as if this was somehow my fault. With great reluctance, she gave me different van (10 more minutes of waiting). I couldn't do the online equipment and mileage verification which led to even more rudeness by demanding my contract and showing me the mileage. In the end, I was there more than 30 minutes last my reserved rental time. NEVER USE THIS LOCATION!!!Ruth J.
I brought the truck back with exactly the same amount of fuel as when I left. Offered to show the attendant my gas receipt that was from 15 minutes before I brought the truck back. She declined. Asked her to do an inspection and walk around. She again declined. When I got my U haul receipt I was billed for 4 gallons of fuel. I went a total of 50 miles. I don't care how hard I driven an F-150 Idoes not use 4 gallons of gas in 50 miles. I am just being gouged. I would like $16,62 deducted from my final bill.Gregory M.
The truck was blocked, we couldn't get help via intercom, hold time was long, key was stuck in lockbox so we had to wait for a repair person with tools, and it was difficult to find anybody at the facility. The driveway was so steep the representative scraped the walkway a bit getting the truck out. The experience was far from touch-less unfortunately.Paul B.

Fix your trucks. There were multiple issues with the vehicle which fall under regular maintenance. I was given a truck that has a bad gas cap. The message stayed on the dash. You could not see the odometer because of a malfunction so I could not enter proper return mileage. I attempted to do the online return last night for over 10 mins. I was told that I did NOT attempt the online return as your system keeps records. The camera that has plain view of the vehicle when I returned it shows me there for at least 10 mins trying to process the return. So I don't appreciate being called a liar. And the $33.75 charge for fuel is whatever at this point... but there was more fuel in it when I returned it than when I picked it up. I was given the "considerable discount" because you didn't have enough trucks and had me bring it back to the store I rented it from, which is 30 miles out of the way. I wanted do rent this truck one way, but was told I could not. I didn't ask for the discount, it was offered for the inconvenience. I have used your company for most every move I have ever made since 1988. This is the 1st time I have ever received a vehicle in such poor condition mechanically. If you are honestly asking for our opinion on what you can do to improve your services for the next customer, take care of your vehicles. If it weren't for the bad gas cap, the check engine light and the electrical issue that prevented seeing the odometer... or the radio and clock for that matter... the online check in would have been sufficient and I wouldn't be writing this review. Pick up location was changed to a more inconvenient location, we did get the truck we wanted and they added on a day for free so we would not have to deal with city rush hour traffic. We did not get the $50 reservation guarantee, maybe all three of the criteria have to be met (Place, time, and equipment size)? Or by accepting the different location when they called it nullified the offer. I suppose two out of three isn't bad, but would Uhaul feel the same if we didn't meet one of the criteria listed for the contract return? Overall I would give this experience a B+, we got what we wanted, had it when we needed it, but did have to juggle our schedule a bit for pick up.KURT W.

I got 9X10 storage unit from U-Haul at Oakland, Pittsburgh,PA. The U-Haul facility was great. Easy to access, flat trolley and mattress trolley were available and free to use. I like the trolley with three wheels made very easy to move between the deck edge and the uhaul truck. Uhaul made moving and storage fun and comfortable. We had reserved a storage unit 6 weeks in advance, but when we arrived, they told us the unit was not available (which was a problem as our apartment lease was ending that day, so we really needed the unit we had reserved). The employees were rude and unhelpful about resolving the situation and did not even apologize. One employee in particular was extremely rude. She insisted that a reservation doesn't guarantee you a unit (what's the point of reserving then?) and walked out of the room before the situation had been resolved, leaving her colleague to help us. I have often used U-Haul in the past, but after this experience, I will try to use other companies instead, and I will certainly never do business at this U-Haul location again.JULIAN X.

I have used this uhaul location for over 5 years and this will probably be my last. The former manager was extremely formal and very friendly and helpful as much as he could be. The website to pick up and drop off the equipment via my phone did not function correctly. I tried it on two phones - on the first, it could not gather my location even though I had location services enabled. On the second, it failed to allow me to upload a picture, giving an error that it was out of memory. This was extremely frustrating and wasted a lot of our time. It only worked when I realized there was an app, and used that. Please tell customers to use the app, rather than the website!!Daniel H.

UHaul Self-Storage saved us when we moved out of our rented townhouse and into a smaller apartment. We didn't realize we needed a storage unit until we couldn't fit any more boxes in our new apartment in the middle of our move. With only a few hours left before we needed to turn the keys over to our landlord, we were able to secure the unit, get the keys, and move our stuff in! It was great. The only negative comment I have was that the advertising was misleading. I thought we got a free first month with our UHaul rental, but that was only for those going one-way... I think? My general experience was... fine. The associates were mostly kind and helpful, but multiple printed photographs of Jesus in his crown of thorns and Blue Lives Matter flags in the main office are incredibly disturbing and inappropriate. The facility is clean and convenient. Online completion of turning a reservation into an actual paid unit was complicated, however once I called the office and spoke with Sheri, she was able to provide the necessary information to complete the transaction and was extremely helpful. Clearer instructions on the outside of the facility with regards to which keypads to put in the access code would have been helpful, however to some it may have been obvious. 7000.00 dollars worth of furniture flooded with mice and mice poo. No concept of insurance for this type of damage was ever explained or posted. I had no idea I needed to be covered for this type of problem in a indoor facility. The manager (Sherri) was always rude. She Recommended a truck for refrigerator pick up, truck was wrong size she still charged full price and that was just the beginning of a very bad situation. Early COVID there was no mask mandate at facility one Sherri, the manager and staff quoted they didn’t need mask because “she a had Jesus on her side, Sherri says she worked every day and had no symptoms as reason for no mask. Only to end business relationship with all my furniture covered in mice poo, and dead mice. Mice still moving in my bags. After a year or so being there.
