I waited in line for 70 minutes to get the paperwork done DESPITE the fact that I checked in online the night before. Very poor organization of your service. Waited for more than 1.5hrs as the POS went down. Was paying for movers when I did not have a truck for them. There was no dollies left even though I had reserved 2. Uhaul needs to provide better training to their employees on how to deal with These situations. I had cash ready and all my rental information was printed on paper but they just wouldn't process customers out of turn and mostly just say on hold while we all waited. Unfortunately the first trailer had faulty light connection but the lot attendant was very good at arranging for a replacement immediately. As I did everything online the whole process was less than 30 minutes. Not sure why the online reservation payment method cannot be converted to the actual payment method but had to use the card again on site.Jeffrey N.

The staff were surly and assumed I knew the process. They were not helpful, nor friendly in either the pick up or drop off process. The self inspection process of photographing and noting all of the damage was time consuming and frustrating. Please upload recent images of the equipment for comparison, not the ones taken when the truck was brand new.Kyla U.

I used the mobile pick up but when i wanted to get the keys the online agent said that i had to go into the store and wait in line to get my truck keys. And when my turn was up, the cashier said â€œoh the keys are with one of the employees outsideâ€ so i had to go out again to get the keys from the outside Another thing, One of the employees was unwelcoming. Pick up location was not clear, went to the Queensview location as stated on the email. Had to pick it up at Coventry road. Picked up the Uhaul , wasn't notified there was no appliance dolly available , that I ordered. Had to go back to Queesview location and rented one there. While this location was great it was not where I was supposed to get the equipment. I was called that not only would I have gotten the equipment a day late but in a location that would not have worked for me. Thankfully this location could make it all work!VINCENT S.
The good: the 20' truck we rented had no issues at all. 5 stars. The bad: as usual, the experience of renting with U-Haul is fraught with uncertainty and bad customer service. I rented with the Mobile Pickup/Dropoff option. After reviewing what was required, I called to change it to in-store pickup. When I went to pickup, the person I dealt with was clearly new and inexperienced, and things went downhill quickly. First I was presented with charges that were much higher than my contracted price. That was resolved by a supervisor, but he did not resolve the REASON for the higher charges - namely, that the new employee had cancelled my drop-off at a larger centre, resulting in the discounted rate. So when I got to my destination, I noticed that the drop-off site on my paperwork was blank and I was instructed to call U-Haul. That phone call restored the original drop-off point, but sent me to a location 40 km further away which was not open at the time I had to drop off. Eventually I did get the truck dropped off (after borrowing a relative's phone since mine would not work to share location with the U-Haul site despite following their directions to the letter), but the whole experience reminded me that U-Haul is a great idea, poorly implemented.MARKDAVID G.
There was one gentleman working at the desk and we waited 45 minutes to get our trailer. Very poor service. Should hire more staff to ensure more efficient service. There was a large screw that was left in the trailer and it got caught in the component that is required to close and secure the trailer outside. Would not go to this location again.Amira S.

Extremely uncomfortable with a photo being taken of my driver's licence with a phone - was this the staff member's phone? Nothing was explained properly, difficult finding my rental vehicle, return was confusing, no final bill received. Staff were generally rude or dismissive. Vehicle was new, good condition and clean. The dolly and utility cart I reserved a month and a half in advance was not available. I was told there is no guarantee you will have reserved equipment which absolutely baffled me. "After hours service fee"? What service? I left the key in the drop box, nobody mentioned this fee. You estimate the mileage charge but don't estimate the guaranteed fee you're going to charge me when I say I'm renting it for 2 hours? Just weird and shady.Adam S.
Pick up location was changed from Barrie to Aurora the day before pick up. Arrived in Aurora on pick up day to no 20' truck. Was told only 15' or 20' truck available is in Coldwater or Huntsville which is 104 and 184km away respectively. My wife called Coldwater to be told that the truck there is not safe for driving which is just as well we called 1st or we could have driven another 104km and still wont have had a truck. My wife had to go online herself and find a truck in queen street Toronto which we were not made aware of. We then asked to get that truck and eventually drove downtown to pick it up. Pretty much all the staff we spoke to on Friday and Saturday were rude, carefree and uninterested. All of this and my wife is pregnant and not supposed to be going through this type of stress. I have never had such a service devout of competence, care, empathy and humanity. I would pay 10 times the amount next time to go with another company.DANIELIFEANYICHU O.

The Uhaul online checkin is the worst I've ever used, not user friendly a d very frustrating. It took almost 1 hour to be able to log on and check in to take the truck. The only reason it finally worked is that o e of the truck cleaning employees took the time and patience to help me log into your system. We had movers waiting for us so we were late and lost an hour of moving time. This system that you have is full of flaws. I'll go to the competition next time.LYSE M C.

Even though we purchased extra insurance, a pre-flight vehicle inspection should have been be done. We did not notice that previous damage had been done to the left side of the truck because it was parked right up against another truck. The damage (scrape on side) was not us as evidenced by the multiple application of weathered duct tape to obscure the side damage of the truck. I took a picture (time stamped) as soon as we got home with the truck, within minutes of getting home with it. Not concerned about the issue, - proving but wasn't us - but it is disconcerting to see that not having done an inspection with the Uhaul staff before leaving. Other than that, fantastic overall experience. Love the self-checkin after hours given we returned it in the AM, middle of the night.MICHAEL W.

Firstly, decided that contactless pickup would be best. After waiting 40 minutes, another customer came up to claim the same van I was assigned. Nobody outside in the lot was able to help, and there was a lineup of 6 other customers to wait through. When I finally did get to speak to someone, I finalized my transaction online and went to get keys which was another issue. The furniture dollies were all rented out, and they offered to simply take it off my contract. The vehicle itself was in good condition, and I had no issues with the return. It's just simply a fact that they are over-renting their inventory and people who need equipment are being left in a lurch at the last possible moment.Jason D.
I hesitates to give this rating because the people at the location seemed very nice and worked through my issues. My problem was the app that I was supposed to use when picking up the van I reserved. The app told me not to start the process until I arrived at the lot. It didn't mention that there was going to be an extensive approval process that would take at least half an hour. It gave me a van number and as I was standing there waiting for approval I talked to another customer who had been assigned the same van number. So we both had to go inside to get that straightened out. You need to give people a heads up for how long that process will take - I had people waiting for me. But again - the guy at the counter seemed nice. My only issue is with your system.Tabitha E.

Slowest service I've ever experienced for anything. Took almost an hour to serve one person in front of us, plus us. Numerous staff just wandering about and doing nothing while long line up forming behind us. Rental was not loaded with any of the equipment that we reserved, which we had to come back and collect after we discovered. Location did not have some of the equipment that we reserved. Will not come back to this location, will not recommend, will try to avoid using uhaul in the future. Overall awful and time wasting experience on a very busy day.SCOTT D.

Ben was great at changing trucks when I realized the 10 ft I rented didn't have a loading ramp. He switched my rental to a 15 ft instead. I would have rated the location 5* if it was easier to contact the location by phone; the voice mail 'tree' is difficult. Fortunately I had Ben's cell phone which he promptly answered.Robert M.

Usually, this is a very good location. However I had snags on both pickup and drop-off. On pickup (self-serve/online), the truck I was assigned was not there. I wasted about 10 minutes walking around looking for it. Eventually another truck was provided, but I was directed to go inside to get the keys. It was after 7PM, closing time. The staff were annoyed with me. I was annoyed with U-Haul for putting me in that position. If I had not caught the door when another customer was coming out, I would not have gotten my keys. Also, it took more than 5 minutes for someone to verify my drivers license through the online process. I arrived at 5PM or so to return my truck. I waited for about five minutes and no one came. So I went inside and asked them to send someone. They paged a general announcement, and I went outside to wait and no one came again. I will never recommend Uhaul Storage to anyone and have reported you to the Better Business Bureau and have thoroughly detailed the fraudulent business pertaining to your insurance coverage. I have been told this is not an isolated incident and that this is entrenched in how Uhaul conducts themselves. I am the Director of Communications for a $15 Billion CPG company and will also be reaching out to my national media contacts across Canada to share my story in hopes that I can save someone else from renting through Uhaul and save them from thousands of dollars in damages, too. On top of not properly maintaining the drainage system at the facility, Uhaul does nothing to mitigate vermin and instead just traps the ones they find, does not dispose of their carcasses, and does not care that they run rampant across the storage facility. Moving out was very stressful given the fact that the parking lot was a mess. To make matters worse my brother and I were asked to push some uhaul units out of the way by hand in the rain. Lineup inside was really long and nif moving. I would never use uhaul ever again. I have friends that have stored with Dymon storage and they are extremely happy with everything across the board.
