Both places I picked up and dropped off were the 2 best U-Haul facilities I have ever used. 100 will recommend. The drop off facility had amazing staff, and so did the pick up.

DAVID GWhen the gauge was well below the full mark and then charginging $4.75 per gallon for gas that sells for $3.00 at the station on the oppposite corner location from your facility is a little tough to swallow given I had already added $5.00 worth on my own.

SUSIE BAirbag light on when I picked up the truck / stabilitrac light on and went into low speed ABS activation.. terrible pulsation in steering wheel when braking. Im not sure who does the maintenance on these vehicles but I'd find someone else.

JENNIFER KFelt the staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful. Charging 20 dollars for a late fee after a couple of days is ridiculous when things are hard enough for people out here. Communicating with staff about your situation does nothing and being so unwilling to work with people is exactly why id never recommend or come back. Not to mention, the multiple dead bugs, we believe to be roaches, in this “secure” environment that we found in our stuff and in the storage unit itself. Floors are always dirty, have had multiple areas that were sticky. I will not contact anyone from this facility to resolve any sort of dispute because contacting this facility to simply discuss your situation and try to get someone to hear you and work with you when you’re trying your best is for nothing. 0/10, don’t recommend and will make sure none of my friends or family subject themselves to the same thing.
ASHLEY W | Overall ExperienceI use U-Haul moving and storage of Pekin for monthly storage and have never had an issue. This specific instance working with Uhaul however I had multiple issues. I booked a truck online for 830am for self service pick up, when I got to the location I was informed the facility didnt open until 9 so I was unable to get my truck. At 9am I went back to pick up my truck, the truck was not ready and did not have any of my rented equipment ready. Even the dolly I rented was "out of stock", which was incredibly frustrating given I had made the reservation over a month in advance. When I was given the keys to the truck the employee mentioned the truck would be out front. I went out front and tried the key didn't work in any of the trucks, when I asked the employee he said "oh it must be one of the ones back there". I then had to walk as a customer to the complete other side of the parking lot in the rain to inspect my truck that at this point was over 45 minutes passed the reservation time. When I asked if anyone could bring it toward the front I was met with "I don't know where my other guy is". As I was moving I was VERY upset to find that my wooden furniture had gotten very wet in the truck, the whole truck was leaking. When I returned the truck the employee informed me "sorry I realized I gave you the truck with a duct taped roof", on a rain day. I'll still gladly maintain my monthly storage at this facility but there is no chance I would ever recommend this location to rent any sort of equipment.

Kimberly H | First ImpressionsStaff were never in office. Moved out due to not trusting my belongings there anymore after a call I received asking if I moved all my stuff out earlier this month. I said no that I did NOT move out that I just paid my bill.( which has been on auto pay since I got it a year ago and never missed a payment) She ended up calling me back and said they did an auction and somehow I ended up on the list. She said my lock was there and nothing happened and that she now had to double check all the units. Still made me not trust leaving my stuff there. So I found someone to store temporarily and moved out before I got charged another month. Also upon moving out I noticed that I was paying $30 more than listed price.

MELBA HThere was a few things they marked that wasn’t on the checklist they already had. Heater knob didn’t work so I was freezing when I picked it up. I believe if we don’t put the gas in, then charging us full price is a given. I had a truck for a little over 2 hrs, drove less 40 miles and I had to pay just under $70.
TINA WOne office person had to do everything including leaving the office unattended and walk to the other side of the parking lot to hook my trailer up to my truck. You’re truly counting on the honesty of the customers left in the store unattended

MARK MIt was super easy to make reservations online and pick up the trailer. The assistant at the store was very helpful and professional.
NICHOLUS DI scheduled the reservation two Saturdays ago. I had to make numerous calls to the location since the parts were not readily available to do the installation on the originally scheduled date. After numerous conversations with staff, it was determined that I would arrive on Sunday, 9/22/24 for the installation. Upon arrival, the part / wiring was not at the Pekin location. The staff member had to drive to another location in Peoria to pick up the wiring / part to complete the installation. Poor communication / coordination in the scheduling of the hitch installation. Even when the general manager said he would call me back, he never did. I had to make numerous calls to the office to make the installation happen. I am glad to have the hitch installed at this point, but the customer service was subpar. If I am in need of another hitch installation, I will not be taking my vehicle to this location.

ROBERT SWould have been nice if the truck was parked close to the store front. It was at the top of the hill of the parking lot. There were other trucks close to the front of the store, just not this one for some reason. I booked it in advance.

James SI had got a free month for renting a truck...yes I was a couple months behind...I got a text saying they will give me my unit back for $100 but I did not get the text tel I got my phone but when I got back from out of town and before the day they said it was due ...the locks were off and it was cleaned out....so someone broke in the unit and took my stuff...

Ryan MHad to look for the person at location to drop off my keys. He actually did a walk through when I returned the truck and he was the one that informed me that I would not be getting a refund for returning the truck early unlike when I picked up the truck. When I told the gentleman the check engine was on when I picked up the truck he stated that was normal.
sonyha fI have rented several times from this particular location and the staff here is top notch! They are very helpful, friendly and go above and beyond to make sure you are happy with your rental. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking to rent equipment. Also every time I’ve rented I’ve never experienced any issues with their rentals (trailers/trucks).

Rodney DI didn't check gas tank when I left. I should of. However, I only went 29 miles mileage provedhow much gas I used. Someone messed up before me. I should have needed to put at most 10.00. Had to put 30 .00 in for it to register full . So who got free gas???? I got screwed just because I didn't look at gas tank.
Rebecca BUpon emptying out my truck, I kept setting off the alarm. Being I was unaware of the timing of relogging in, I had stayed in the bay with the truck as not to set off the alarms again until they opened. The mgr arrived video me alseep in the truck however, he continues to claim I was in the unit and I was not. As I was trying to turn the truck in that morning, the manager refused to listen to me and forced me to leave the premises. at the same point he automatically limited my hours and access to office hours only. Tavin SWe got cockroaches from this location and your response was is not our fault. Don't worry we will be telling everyone far and wide. I'm disgusted. No we won't ever use uhual again, we won't ever recommend uhual. We rented from s corporate location and I'm appalled by this and your lack of being willing to help at all. Despicable. All uhual vehicles should be bombed in between rentals. You should do unto others as you would have them do unto you, you may never know who is behind the . Who the so called little guy is you are refusing to help.

Vernon WI chose not to donate to the wildlife and the UHaul rep made an unnecessary comment. “Thank you for continuing to kill the baby turtle”. I found that very offensive. He has no idea why I chose not to donate and it’s not his business.

After renting the truck from UHaul, I received an email for a free months rental of a storage unit. I went into the office to arrange a free month and was told that was only for new rentals. SO irritating!!! 2) Several times there was no hand soap in the bathroom, yuck!! 3) The floors in the isles could be cleaner. A ride along machine could rotate between all of the facilities in the area to keep costs lower. Thank you, Amy Rodgers

micheal n | First ImpressionsWhen I attempted to pick up 1/13 my mobile pick up was not taking my debit card. I went inside for over 20 minutes in freezing temperatures and waited with my children. There were cameras showing a gentlemen working on a truck, I am unsure where, otherwise I saw no other employees. Tried to cancel but it says my contract was already pending. Went home and called back, but got no answer. The next day I got a call to reschedule and was told next time there would be a deposit required to schedule. Fast forward to day of pickup, and it was during my work day. Could not take my debit card from my phone without physically seeing it but said I could pay cash, and then when I came back a new gentlemen did not want cash but would take my mobile card from my phone. It was the same card as Saturday, unsure why it would not take mobile but would in store. Went to clear my U-haul storage and there was nothing by compacted ice the U-Haul was sliding on, and then my children trying to help load the U-Haul. My storage was frozen shut, my lock was frozen, so by the time I got equipment to thaw and load it had taken me into snowing weather, so I parked until morning. In which I called right at 7, and the gentlemen was so rude. I had 2 pending charges all equaling out to 248. The gentlemen said since I did not have it back by 10pm he charged me twice, and I pointed out my original charge was incorrect. Without reviewing he stated it was not, it was probably the 2 days and my storage. That I had to have it cleared the day before my due date not the day of otherwise I would be charged. Then later called and left a voicemail that my storage was passed due, without noticing he spoke with me not even an hour before… absolutely rude, disfunctional, and bad service. I had zero problems with the east Peoria location, and the only person who provided good service was the lady who checked my truck in was so kind and talked to be with my concerns and told me the only charge that should stick was my total of the two days at 101. Otherwise I would of been twice as upset by the whole experience. Grateful for her! The rest of the staff and company… not so much. This is my last truck rental and storage with U-Haul.

My only criticism is the number of terminals used to enter the building.. the keypads need to either be numbered, or have one keypad to check in and unlock the door.

I was very impressed by seeing the area where you can place items that you don’t need anymore but maybe someone else can. Only thing I witnessed was as we were moving items into the storage unit another employee entered a company rental pickup truck he peeled out at the beginning leaving tire marks and sped around the parking lot at a high rate of speed eventually parking the truck. Glad no customers were in the parking lot.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see that the card grants you access to YOUR specific unit, and that makes me feel good about keeping my possessions at this location. The employees there are all nice as can be too!

Was told the van would be rented to us for 24 hours, didn’t think much of it. We got done around 7:30pm or so, took the van back home figured I’d just return in AM after I woke up. 7am comes around, I have U-HAUL calling me saying if the truck isn’t back by 9am they would be charging me 50$ plus other fees, she doesn’t hear back from me, and then proceeded to come to my house at 7:30am and ring my doorbell, asking why we haven’t returned the truck. My fiancé then takes the truck back, and I call U-HAUL back around 9am asking what went on, Janelle wasn’t the most pleasant to deal with, even after explaining that the van was 24 HRS, she could care less. Overall my experience with U-HAUL was a complete nightmare.
