Everything went very smoothly until I actually needed to use my unit. Access hours are clearly marked as 5am to 10pm. I showed up at 8pm and GUESS WHAT??? It’s apparently not access hours! Online instructions need to be reviewed with individual stores. The vehicle I reserved was not available for self service, but there was no signage indicating that I had to go into the store. I was further delayed because the reservation was being reviewed before giving me the keys. Basically, I was given the option of remote service when I made the reservation, but the store didn't have the respected to effectively accommodate that. I have scheduled my appointment some days before. When I arrived that day, the woman at the store told me that if when I return was no parking lot available, I should pick off the truck the next day. I really do not have space where I can park it near my building, and I had already my appointments to go and pick up the stuff, so I had to use the truck anyway. When I returned, the parking lot was full but there were some spaces in the back. As I could not park it other way, I had to enter to those available ones by the little street on the side. It was really difficult, but I had no choice. I had made a reservation for a 15 foot truck 10 days in advance of my move. 2 days before, I was called and told only a 10 foot van was available. I received an email instructing me to call UHaul customer service is this reservation "did not work for me." I called and stated that it did not work, as a 10 foot truck would not be big enough. UHaul said there was noting they could do. I asked for discount for inconvenience and the customer service agent agreed, but this never showed up on my bill. When I picked up the truck, the gas tank was nearly empty. I returned truck with more gas than I had picked it up with , and then was charged $14 for a "fuel charge," with no further explanation. In order to fit all of my belongings, I had to rent a trailer from UHaul, nearly doubling the total cost of the rental expense. This was a very frustrating and costly experience for me.Mariel S.

Although I had no issues with this location and the customer service agents were wonderful, friendly and very helpfulâ€¦. the storage units and surrounding areas seemed dirty. The first storage unit they assigned to me smelled like a dead animal. I had no issues getting a new unit but I am very skeptical about keeping my belongings at this location and have already started looking elsewhere for other storage companies. I’ve used this storage locker multiple times in the past and always had incredibly positive experiences until yesterday. Off the bat, the woman assisting me was irritated and distracted while chatting on facetime. She then said she couldn’t assist me because they were closing, despite it being 40 minutes before closing. I had to insist to at the very least get my key card and unit #. Additionally, the online hours for this facility say office hours go until 8pm and storage access until 10pm. But I was told I’m not allowed to go anytime after office hours, which apparently are until 7pm. Obtaining the rental vehicle was the easy part it was returning it that was an absolute fucking piece of shit. They tried charging me almost $100 for a 3 to 4 foot long piece of two-by-four that was simply unscrewed and claimed that I had damaged it and that it needed complete replacement. A single peace of wood with a screw wouldn't cost even close to $100. When I picked up the rental the "bump rail" wasn't even properly secured in the first place and was practically falling off, it was no question that it just simply had unscrewed itself and falling the rest of the way off and then they tried to charge me $100 to replace the damn thing. Although I contacted customer service and I'm waiting for the refund, without any question, they just charged me the $100 to my card and now I'm gonna have to wait almost two weeks for the refund, if I even get it! Hell I even offered to come down and screw the damn piece in myself. Only reason for two stars and not one was solely to the lady I was connected to when I contacted customer service was nice. I made an online reservation and activated my account at the storage site on May 8th,2021. The staff I opened my account with were friendly and respectful. She communicated to me the difference between UHaul’s office hours and access hours. I understood the storage unit access hours were until 10PM. On June 26,2021 I arrived at the loading dock around 6:50PM, and was told to leave the building by the staff working that day. They stated only businesses had access to the storage unit 24/7. They were rude and unprofessional. We waited outside for two hours trying to figure out why we didn’t have access until 10PM. It was extremely stressful as we came from CT to access the storage unit. We called UHaul’s and they informed us we should be able to access the storage unit prior to 10PM. On July 10,2021 I closed the account unit I had open. The same staff who I interacted with in June closed my account. When it was time to vacate i had forgotten my key. The general manager said he couldn't cut the lock that I had to find a licensed locksmith and that person had to show proof of insurance. That's all well and good for Uhaul to protect from liability, but its a bloody nuisance for the customer. After an apartment fire in central Philadelphia, we had an emergency need for a large locker, and a truck to move furniture and belongings into storage. This UHaul location made the job (relatively) easy, and when we were ready to move everything out, to a new place the staff were friendly and efficient. Understand this is a center-city facility; a repurposed early 20th century factory building. It’s not a purpose-built modern building. But the storage area is properly climate controlled, and well-lit in the storage area. The freight elevators are slow, but large and easily accessible. There are adequate carts for moving goods between trucks and lockers. Doors and elevators require either access codes or magnetic cards (user’s choice), so security is pretty strong. A mistake from the truck pick-up location in St. Louis, I was dispatched to the wrong location in Philly: with the storage unit at one place and truck drop off at another. After a stressful move, 3 days of driving, during a global pandemic, losing time driving to the wrong location in a city I didn't know, and then showing up without the storage reservation with only 2 hours to unload by myself, I nearly broke down in the lobby once I realized the dispatch mistake. Tears were welling. Precious was behind the counter watching all this happen. She immediately stepped in, asked if I needed water, got me a unit and assured me everything would be okay. Without a doubt, Precious was the person I needed in that moment in time. Beyond stellar customer service, she showed me how Philly gets it done. The billing was easy and was notified of each payment. We found out when we went to remove our belongings, the storage unit I paid for was not the storage unit the items were in. A lock was added to our unit stating we owed for several months. The lady who assisted us told us she needed to find her phone and then she would remove the lock added to the wrong unit. It was very frustrating we were not treated as a valued customer. We had to get another employee to help us since the previous person was too busy finding her phone. She also deactivated our key so we couldn't get in the elevator until another employee noticed we needed help and assisted us. We also heard her yelling with the customer before us.
