This was the worst experience ever!!! I rented the unit online and that was easy… I get to the site and the organization of the numbers are plain crazy! The lady at the front desk was helpful. When I first got to my unit it was at the very back of the building with a large open area and the lights did not turn on. There was a lock on the unit, I thought “oh a lock comes with it”… I buzzed for the young lady and asked if she had the key for my lock… she replied “oh so this ain’t your lock? Is this your unit? I showed her my confirmation text and she apparently called another coworker or friend on her personal cell and asked if someone was coming in today and the person on the phone said “nah she not coming in today she works tomorrow” the young lady asked the person on the phone if the girl was coming to get her stuff and the person on the phone said “she was supposed to get it yesterday but she didn’t feel like moving it then she said she was coming today. The young lady informed the person on the phone that I was there and ready to move in and the person on the phone said just tell the lady to just come back tomorrow or we will call her when it’s ready.” The young lady turned to me and before she could repeat what the person said on the phone I asked if they had another unit and she said no, but you can come back tomorrow and hopefully she will have her stuff out. Needless to say that wasn’t an option with 2 trucks full of stuff in the rain!!!! I had to call all around the Memphis area and unfortunately was not able to find the size I needed and ended wasting gas, time, energy, and a lot more money.April E. | Online Move In

I believe UHaul should be prepared to reimburse partial refunds for partial months usage. I paid on the 24 of July 89.00 and moved out on the 29, therefore I should have been reimbursed for some money. I don't understand the usefulness of filling out the contract on line only to check in and have to answer the same questions at the check in desk. I also don't understand that I can make a reservation for equipment on line and then check in at the desk and find out that there is no equipment available even though I reserved it. The rep was very dismissive and unapologetic for not having the cargo van I reserved. I was forced to use a more expensive and larger vehicle without an explanation. I only the needed it to pick up 6 chairs. Coincidentally I walked in over hearing her on the phone with a customer who hadn't brought back a cargo van by 3:30 and my reservation wasn't until 4:00pm . I felt she should have handled my situation better. Her attitude was disgusting not welcoming at all. I had to walk to the other end of the parking lot looking for the vehicle she hand the keys to me telling me to look for. The vehicle alignment was terrible. I had to get off the expressway and take the streets because it was raining. Which took the trip even longer. As I arrive to drop the vehicle back off the rep attitude was still disgusting. She literally almost hit me with the vehicle door barely giving me enough personal space to clear. After totally up my mileage and checking the vehicle with no eye contact she ask if I wanted my refund I stated yes she then said meet me on the inside. Tone just rude for nothing and I work in customer service. Handed my paperwork over the plexiglass and stated have a nice day. Just terrible, if she doesn't like her job she needs to quit.Sarah E.

First my reservation was switched to an alternate pick up and drop off location which added extra miles ( at .99 cents each ) and gas ( at almost $3 per gal. ). Which I do not recall being notified ahead of time about. Second the information on the paperwork on how much gas to put back in the truck was incorrect and ended up wasting a bunch of extra money on gas that I didn't need to. There were other things to this rental was very costly due to very poor business practices.jay D.
The morning shift came to work 30 mins late causing my day to be inconvenienced. I'm an event planner and it's all about time in this business. There was no apology, no empathy, no nothing. The unit I was assigned to had another person’s things in it. Instead of evicting that person from the unit or taking the things out, I was forced to pay more for another larger unit. I reserved my unit 3 weeks in advance. I almost didn’t get another unit, as there weren’t many options. By luck, the larger unit was found. Even though I reserved my unit 3 weeks in advance, I was almost turned away with all my belongings. They changed my located 3 times and I had to drive 30 minutes to pickup and drop off the uhaul. That add 28 miles to my bill. Also, they told me the had a dolly with straps but when I got there they only had a regular dolly.KIMBERLY B.
We were hurriedly explained the process, had to hunt and find the truck ourselves, then when we tried to return it the online link didn't properly work (on purpose) so that we could be charged extra money. Your Hot Springs, AR facility was not user friendly. I was told I could not come in the building. I had to finish the contract over the phone from my car! When that didn't work your employee made several trips from her office back and forth to my car and we finally were able to leave for Memphis. We were told that the dolly we paid for was not available and were asked to pick it up from another location. We were short on time and did not go by the other location. Your Memphis employees were very empathetic and gave us credit for the missing dolly and were very helpful with our check-in. But I was a little surprised by the $95 rate. First, I want to express appreciation for being able to rent a really nice truck in one city and drop it off in another. The day we moved the furniture it rained hard all day, and having an enclosed truck was a godsend. Service at the pickup point was not what I normally experience. When placing the order online, I had checked reviews and someone complained that they had to drive to a different city than they requested because the truck was not available by the time they got there. After placing my request, I called the location in Pine Bluff to make sure the truck would be available. The woman I spoke with seemed put off that I was asking for confirmation that the truck would be available as requested. All she would say is something like the order is confirmed. She informed me they could not supply an appliance dolly, because all of them were booked, so I said I would handle that at my end. I called again the night before and was told again the order was confirmed. I called the morning we left to make sure we would not drive three hours and have no truck, and she seemed to indicate the truck would be ready at the requested time. When I arrived to check the truck out, I waited 40 minutes for the people ahead of me to be serviced. The fellow who checked me out was amiable. As I left, I asked about furniture pads that I had reserved. He said I could pick them up at the door and asked me about the furniture dolly. I explained that they had told me they did not have one, so I brought one with me (that I had rented from a U-Haul in my home city.) Seeing six pads in a bag, I took two and headed for the truck. He came out and told me I could take only one. I returned one bag, went back to the truck and got the contract, which showed I had reserved a dozen pads. Then he let me take the second bag. At this point I had burned an hour out of day that had little time to spare. I get the impression that the customer service reps were not paying close attention to details, and I got the distinct impression that the lady I spoke with three times did not want to answer my questions. I will probably use U-Haul in the future, but I will check the contract more carefully before leaving the store. I am hoping that U-Haul's system does not think I owe them an appliance dolly.Jacques M.

We originally reserved for the Bartlett location. Got a call that the trucks at Bartlett were frozen and that I needed to pickup at the Raleigh location because those trucks were not frozen. This actually added more miles to my reservation. Got there Saturday, the truck was frozen, was told to enter the passenger side and slide into the driver side. When I asked what do I do about the ice on the steps when I get fuel, she said we don't have any salt. I asked what do I do about the ice on the truck, she said just sit here and let it warm up. I had to call customer service to get help from the personnel to scrap the ice from the uhaul. When I returned the truck I had to stop there to help get the ice off the gas cap to go back to the gas station to get fuel. Extra mileage again. Worst experience ever! More money, more time sitting there to defrost the truck, yes they added time to the rental, but that did not help when I had a team of people who took off that were waiting at my apartment and were mad and upset waiting outside in their vehicle for an hour. I did not need the extra time! Ridiculous waste of extra mileage added onto my rental as well as fuel sitting in the parking lot to defrost the vehicle when this should have been done before I got there. It took almost 45 minutes to defrost it!GLENDA D.

Make sure the rental boxes are clean from previous renter. Most of the boxes were clean, but whoever used those boxes prior to me did not clean a few out as they had food crumbs and dead stink bugs. After returning the boxes, I found one of those same bugs crawling on my front seat 2 days later. I hope I didn't bring anything to my new place from those boxes.Kimberlyn F.

Upon renting a cargo van today at the Austin Peay Hwy location I was informed I needed a major credit card for the rental deposit which it would have been nice to know before placing the rental order. The Uhaul agent that made the reservation over the phone for us never mention a major credit card was needed. I'm glad we had one, additionally, my cargo van was muddy as heck on the outside, however, I did witness the employees wiping the interior down once the vehicle was returned.Brian B.
