Poor service and discrimination I drop off my vehicle and was forced to get back into truck she made me put truck in reverse and hit the brakes then turn on each turn signal then wait for her to thump the tires I have been renting u-hauls for over 20 years you can check your camera she only did me this way if this what there supposed to they must do it to everyone not just the customer that are blackJOHN H.

When we arrived at the location the rep laughed basically at us because they knew they didn't have the equipment for the last four days but didn't let anyone know. I received a call saying they had it and everything was good to go. We then had to drive to a second location to pick up a trailer after about an hour of them finding one. I booked this reservation about a month before I needed it so there is no reason they could make this happen. I also had to go to two locations to pick up both trailers. Don't ever want to use uhaul ever again after this. I'll pay more for pods.TIMOTHY M.
Hello, When I have a bad experience, I typically just don't visit the location or use their services anymore. However, this time, I have decided to submit my comments because I am an advocate for customer service and feel that you cannot improve or get better at what you do unless customers speak up. Overall, my rental experience was not bad. Besides the extremely long wait time on the phone to make a reservation, it was ok. RE: Making the Reservation The agent who took my reservation was quick, knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. The only thing is that he did NOT give me all of the information that I needed in order to pick-up my rental. I am the type of customer who likes to know everything I need to know that's required for me to process my sale. It would have been helpful to know, in advance, that you require the name and phone number of someone I know as a reference. RE: Picking up the vehicle Here is where I had an issue. The agent at the location, read the reservation incorrectly and gave me the wrong vehicle. She also made me repeat the information (name, address, phone number, email address) that I gave to the reservation agent, out loud. I do not like giving my information in public as there are many identity thieves lurking about. She also forgot to book and charge me for the dolly. So I had to wait even longer to get that taken care of. Lastly she did not tell me all that is involved when returning the vehicle after hours. This is where I had THEE BIGGEST ISSUE!!! RE: Returning the Vehicle While I loved the fact that you can do everything online from your app, the agent at the location did not explain the entire return process prior to my departure with the vehicle. She should have told me that before I exit the rental, that I have to take and upload pictures of the miles and gas, inside cab, and parking location. I had to get out in the cold windy weather 3 times, in order to take the photos required to complete the return. Had I known that all of this was required ahead of time, I would have started processing the online return from the rental as opposed to getting in my car and driving up near the entrance. RE: CLEANLINESS OF THE VEHICLE Here is the last of my negative experience. When renting a vehicle, you need to make sure that the ENTIRE VEHICLE INSIDE AND OUT IS CLEAN. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. The outside was ok, but inside the back part, I am guessing the previous renter spilled something on the floor closest to the driver/passenger seats. It looked like a creamy/white liquid substance. This made it very inconvenient for us because we were moving a mattress set. As a result, I had to find 2 blankets to cover up the mess so that it would not mess up the mattress. I understand that you are busy, but someone from the facility should inspect the vehicles prior to re-renting them, to ensure that every vehicle is clean, inside and out, and ready for the next customer. Like I said, overall, my experience was ok, but the negatives really took away from my experience. Had I known all the information ahead of time, pre-rental, return procedures, and had a clean vehicle, you would have gotten Excellent ratings from me and I would recommend you to any of my friends Hopefully, my comments will help you improve in these areas. Bottom line, I would use you again, but now I know what to expect and would make sure that my vehicle was clean before leaving your lot. Thank you. Concerned & Unhappy Renter.YVETTE F.

The worker was all alone due to his co-worker calling off last minute. There was a line of about 9 people about 5 minutes after he opened the store. He managed to handle everyone speedily, sometimes dealing with 2 customers at a time. He acted respectful towards everyone and did not get angry about his situation.JOHN G.

Jessica Johnson, Manager, was very helpful, friendly and professional. She made my whole experience a positive one. She is a very hard worker. When waiting to return my truck, there were 3 trucks ahead of me and Jessica was suppose to be on her way home finishing her day. Instead she put her bag down and proceeded to grab a chart and started to help out the truck in front of me. I saw her just dive in and take care of business. She was awesome and a great example for the word teamwork. She could have just left but she helped her team! That's a great manager , one that I wouldnt mind working with. Manger Jessica Johnson was horrible . Worst customer service ,at that she wasn't even the one helping us and kept getting mad that her employee was giving us great service . Who gets mad at someone doing their job great ? She was on her phone the moment we got their till the very end . Not even just on the phone she was on FaceTime ! Very loud and ghetto . Which is fine when your not at your job but to act like that at work is beyond me . She even yell at us couple times and cursed . Never again will I go back to this location . I made a reservation for a 10' ft truck...the est came up to about a $60 charge with everything plugged in but my final receipt showed $89 charge and I drove less miles than I plugged in. Times are too hard to be charged wrong and when I called back they told me my receipt was wrong and never fixed it. Totally unacceptableAnthony B.

There was a storm we were not able to move anything you basically made money off of us when we were not able to complete the task at hand your staff is rude and unhelpful majority of the time with the exception of Terrence This was a horrible experienceMICHAEL B.
I rented a pickup truck on 1/31 the morning after a snow storm. Not only did I have to use my own snowbrush to clean off the truck, but we also had to remove the mounds of snow from the truck bed. No one offered any assistance. Very inconvenientLINDA H.

Everything went well and my son's move into his first college apartment went very well. Two Thumbs Up Uhaul!! I look forward to doing business with you again. The store clerk Jessica is rude. She talks over you before you can get out what's needed to be said. Her demeanor comes across she doesn't wants to help. I was stranded in a truck just before returning & she quickly got rid of me without any concerns or any resources for me to be or return equipment safely.SANDRA C.
I did not originally rent from the location. I rented from the Bolingbrook on Frontage road location. I got a message to call in and confirm location. I did and they said Bolingbrook was all set. I then got to the location and they told me Calumet City was now the location. That was about an hour away. They kept trying to say they messaged and I kept telling them I have no messages saying a change in location other then to call in, which I did. I even asked the guy I talked to if the location was still Bolingbrook and he said yes. Calumet people were fine, Bolingbrook people were more like it's your problem. All in all not the end of the world but had me driving an hour out of my way between the two locations.Christopher C.

Not accuse the customer of breaking the key box when the damn thing just wasn't working properly. I am intelligent enough to know how to operate a key lock system and to immediately be blamed for its malfunction is not customer service friendly. That instantly set me off so anything nice that was done afterwards was deemed invalid. Next time just apologize for it now working and try to find a resolution.JAMILA W.

Make sure when you rent a trailer you have someone who no what they are doing hook it up. I had to hook up my trailer after it came undone on the express way.before that I was called by the person that hook me up to bring back the trailer because he rented me the wrong one.and I was still charged for the rental needless to say I lost a long time customer.WILLIAM F.
No improvements needed. As of Calumet City U-Haul overall, just keep doing what you're doing. I don't normally go out of my way for a review, but i felt the desire to go out of my norm from the great experience provided by one of U-Haul's very own. I worked with Jessica Johnson and she was a delight to work with, despite her being short handed and working multiple registered (pretty impressive if you ask me). She was polite, thorough, easy to speak to, understood her explanations easily, and patient. There was a disgruntled customer ahead of me and it was impressive how well Jessica handled that aggressive situation with kindness and overall great customer service. (can't please them all, but she definitely tried to with this customer). Honestly, I've always hated renting from U-Haul, but Jessica completely turned that 180 with her great customer service. Upon my return, it was simple. She welcomed me back with a smile and a great attitude. Jessica was able to talk me through the final steps to complete my overall experience. In the end, Jessica completely changed my overall rental experience for the better. I'd go out of my way to rent a truck from Calumet City U-Haul versus a location that may be closer from what Jessica was able to provide. Thank you, Jessica!JUAN E.

We reserved a truck but they had none available. They had one that they said wasn't checked in. We had waited 35 minutes to get waited on with only 2 people in front of us, and were told they didn't know how long it would take. It ended up putting us an hour and a half behind when we only had people to help for a limited amount of time. The staff appeared short handed and offered no options ( such as when I called the 800 number she said we could have a 26 footer for the same price). While not outright rude, the staff didn't seem to really care whether we were taken care of or not. Overall it was a negative experience when it did not have to be!! Although, I was very satisfied with the service I received at this location, I did ask to speak to the manager about how you all have a grown man riding a bicycle to the meet customer to the back of the building. You mean to tell me Uhaul cannot afford to get a golf cart or some other kind of vehicle for its staff? It looked very degrading. I sat there in my car for awhile just observing, and was really disappointed. I use Uhaul quite often, but 1st time at this location. I did write that I would love to refer others to this location, that was because of the quick in & out service that I received. I'll definitely try that location again, because of that. But if I see the same degrading scene again, I will not be back, and will definitely tell others the same.Shanya F.
