I was advised by the young man who rented the vehicle from me to NOT do the pre/post rental inspections, as their facility was in a technology "black hole", which resulted in an extra fee upon return of the vehicle, since I followed his instructions instead of the instructions on the contract. Since he is a representative of the company, I would expect him to not only look out for the company's best interest, but also the future rental possibilities from the customer. Also, something needs to be done so that this address is the one given out, instead of Nico's Tire Store (bad part of town).MICHELLE RENEE R.

They were then picked up 5 days late, only after I called to let them know no one had come to pick them up. The Van we rented was a 2021 Model with approximately 5k miles. The interior was absolutely filthy when we obtained the Van for rental. It was obviously not cleaned or re-conditioned from the prior renter. It is unacceptable to me to rent a vehicle which is delivered unclean, specifically in the current COVID-19 environment with a known high risk of illness due to unsanitary or non-hygienical pro-active protocols.MICHAEL B.

There was German cockroaches in the back of the vehicle. I had drove the vehicle from the location to my apartment and back once I noticed I wasn't going to be able to use the vehicle. Then the employees at the location tried to bill me for the gas. I was very stern and I believe that was waived. I had tickets to a baseball game Saturday and I was unable to make it because the cockroach incident set me back about an hour and a half. Also I was on hold for 25 minutes before arriving to the location to return the first vehicle I was given. Thankyou for your time have a good day.Andrew H.

Caleb Williams the General manager at our drop off location was rude and disrespectful to me and my wife. We ask about the free month on a storage unit from a email sent to us from UHaul . He said he didn't have the size we wanted and it was up to him to refuse the offer. So we paid the rent on two smaller units, no wanting to argue after our 14 hour drive. We called the UHaul number on the web site and talked to them, they were real nice and said they would sent them a email correcting the problem and for us to go in and get a refund back on our card. When we went back in the store the next day and ask about our refund , they were rude and disrespectful again , said they got the email but the girl that sent it wasn't his boss and said we were out of luck getting a refund. We are now getting ready to rent our third UHaul. Waiting on a call back for the 20% discount.KENNETH H.

Have your corporate get it together. These guys were great. All of my experience with u-haul this time was a nightmare. And that is not an exaggeration. No problem with the rock island location- however =moving is hard enough. Many on hold calls that were never picked up after an hour plus wait. Your business has become very very insufficient. You are no longer customer oriented. Making people drive 3+ hours to pick up there truck??? Your company is a solid mess. I have used u-haul for all my moves -many. I have never been left hanging till the last minute to know if I even had a truck to move with. Movers booked etc. miserable experience. I am surprised all your help didn't walk out on you. The guy that checked me in/set up my account was friendly and helpful. The other guy in the office, not so much. He acted like he had better things to do than be there. When we went to the side to the unload area the garage door would not open. I called the office and the guy with the attitude problem answered. He said some of the doors are broke and to try another door. I was in a 26’ U-Haul truck, I am not driving to each door to find one that works. From the general manager on my initial visit to the staff on Sunday, great experience and friendly folks! They didn’t have a large unit available but accommodated us with 2 side By side units of equal total size! Very happy with the process and accommodations! Pretty much a joke since the beginning. The back of the truck got stuck going into our driveway and we blocked traffic on a main road. I drove down to this location in my own vehicle after waiting for roadside assistance for over an hour. I asked the worker for help and he said there was nothing he could do. I told him the truck was blocking traffic on a major road and it needed to be towed immediately before it caused an accident and he didn't bother to offer help or seem to care about the problem. It took nearly 3 hours from the time I reported my issue to the time uhaul's tow driver showed up. Your roadside assistance is an absolute joke and your employees need to do better at showing that they care.Kevin M.

All the employees were extremely helpful - above and beyond so! The only issue I had was with the after hours return process. The app took me through all the steps but never actually processed the return. Attempting to call the actual physical location resulted in being on hold with u-haul customer service for an absurd amount of time. Which included getting disconnected from first rep and having to do it all over again. That was the frustrating part but not the fault of the rock island u-haul location.MARY D.

The "Free" storage unit was not necessarily free, due to the fact that the lock I had from my previous storage unit was not able to be used. Customers must to purchase a specific lock for the storage facility. The sales person wasn't able to explain exactly why my lock was not sufficient, but he was courteous. Aparently, this is the protocol for the use of storage units but I'm unsure if its location specific or franchisewide. For convenience, I paid for a lock to unload the rental and turn-in the vehicle as soon as possible. To say that "the larger a corporation grows, the weaker customer service and quality control" is an understatement. Some ppl take pride in their representation of a company and operate in the interest of both customer and the business by the level of customer service. Although my personal experience OVER-ALL was horrific, I can say there are some cool people working for this company that value customers and assisting them as much as possible, and THAT is greatly appreciated. When corporate wouldn't listen and noted my dissatisfaction with a process as an individual incident stemming from a specific location I was disappointed and frustrated even more. I was cut off frequently, I was told the military has money to spend so trying to monitor the amount spent on transport is pointless because he submitted a plan to save the Air Force money and it was ignored. The manager was helpful and empathetic. I am glad she called because from my experience with this location ( after the storage guy left and the replacement shift took over) &customer service @1800GOUHAUL I didn't think UHAUL was concerned about the people that use their services and that their goal is how much they can get away with, without someone asking questions or without explanation. The manager validated my issue, acknowledged I'm not the only customer who had an experience involving misinformation, apologized ( Although I told her it was okay), apologized for the dismissive posture and behavior of the drop-off location, apologized for the customer service representative, informed me of the equipment checks that should have been made on the Auto transport to ensure customer safety and informed me she would try to find some compensation for my experience which I don't need and will not use, nor do I want a refund, but I felt like a valued customer. I was: -sent email with wrong location -notified by another location of the location associated with my reservation -pick-up location at two separate locations -Tread on tire blown two hours into travel (tires looked okay but noone checked pressure or the trailer I used the email from the lady in the office that didn't know she had the trailer in the lot) - 2hours in the heat waiting for roadside assistance in an area with no signal to use a website posted all over the truck! -being dismissed by drop-off personnel and customer service!Edwin L. | First Impressions

My only concern is whether the space we rented was really the 8 X 10 X 10 that I am paying for. The queen size mattress and box spring are very tight when laid on their side from front to back. This caused the door to rip the plastic cover and sheet on the mattress. Otherwise, The access was a little confusing due to our inexperience with the facility, however the staff at the U-Haul store were very helpful and explained everything to our satisfaction. The move-in experience was confusing. The facility map sent via text didn't work, so we didn't know where our unit was until we got.
