Tried to voice my concerns and dilemma to the workers, was cut off before I could explain in full detail what it was. They were very short and hostile for no reason. I rent from uhaul weekly at different locations and this one was not good experience associate wise. Literally 20 people at my time of pick up. Was 45 min in line. This was my first time renting from Medford U-Haul. I had a very good conversation with two employees in the morning. However they failed to mention the after hours return fee of $20 that I was charged. I initially had my reservation booked until 3:00 pm. I asked if it could be extended and the person sitting at the front desk agreed to reschedule to 6 pm without any charge. When returning the vehicle, the mobile app accepted the photos initially but went back to the same screen when I clicked next. It took more than an hour before the app finally worked. There is always issues with door access after hours, and even though their is a 24 hour phone number on the mail keycard panel, the number is for "Bob's" personal cell phone doesn't "WORK" where he lives. other time all the doors are left open all night long. I also tried to remove 24 hour access for over six months, after one of my phone calls to U-Haul's 800 number where I asked again about removing access I got a letter stating that the rent will increase by the same amount. Lastly the storage unit measurement were off, so you don't really get what you think your paying for...shawn P. | Overall Experience

@ 8am the Owner was on the counter handling rentals.he had client whom did. It speak enabling well let alone at all. Two professional movers where qued behind this man. The owner failed to summon additional help resulting in 30 min wait to process a single transaction. This owner named â€œJohnâ€ needs to go back to Uhaul school to understand customer service. When this very slow process was mentioned to the yard guys whom prep trucks, the respite se was â€œeveryone says that he is slow....â€ John made our day 45 min longer than necessary To John the owner: get off the counter or get a clue and call for help. You are not managing your shop well at all. Sir.... After 20 years, This maybe my last time at your shop. This was the worst experience of my life. Immediately upon leaving UHAUL our tire exploded. We sat on the side of the highway, on the phone with the UHAUL rep yelling at us for nearly 15 minutes to "not accept" the tow truck that a STATE TROOPER had called and told us to accept. Once that first truck was towed, UHAUL proceeded to send us to three different UHAUL locations over the next four hours to try and locate a truck. The truck we finally got was the wrong size and did not have the furniture dolly we requested. We were refunded $100 out of $500, which seemed very minimal for the amount of chaos we went through. Today, 7 months later, I am still receiving toll charges on my credit card--even though other tolls went through just fine in the fall. I will never use UHAUL again.ANNESLEY A.

Within 30 minutes of being at the Uhaul facility, I walked into an unlocked bathroom to witness someone shooting up heroine. They were not a customer of Uhaul, but were able to freely walk around the unlocked section of the storage facility. They proceeded to loiter for 1.5 hours, with several men loitering along side her. A separate man (also not a customer of Uhaul as he never entered the card access area) loitered around the facility for multiple hours, and seemed to be selling drugs out of the back of his Penske rental truck. How no Uhaul representative noticed any of this going on is beyond me and incredibly concerning to me. I was at the facility for a total of 2 hours in the middle of the day, so I am very concerned as far as what else goes on at the facility. I plan to leave my belongings there for this stay, and would have a difficult time recommending this Medford location to anybody else.Brendan N. | First Impressions

We came on 1/30/2021 to access the storage unit for the first time and were told by the staff that they were too busy to accommodate us accessing the unit and instructed to return at 6:30pm. At 6 pm I called the facility to ensure that we could be accommodated and I waited on hold for 30 minutes... decided not to go in at this time for obvious reasons. We returned the following morning and were helped with our unit. This did take some time and when we left there was a huge line of people behind us. Pre-registration online was of no value, since truck wasn't even assigned until I got there. No one had bothered to clean off thick ice and snow on windshield and front of truck. I was first given the wrong unit number and had to return to the front desk. I also had to ask for a different unit because it was up a flight of stairs. When I returned to the storage elevator, the access card didn't work. I then got a new one, but upon returning to the storage unit I found that it was locked. Then I went to the front desk AGAIN, returning to the unit with an employee with the key. But it turned out to be the wrong key, so we had to wait for her to go back to the front desk to get the right one. We finally gained access to the unit, but it was smaller than the one I had reserved, and irregularly shaped, causing extra delays in loading it.Arthur B. | First Impressions
Right side mirror did not work properly. Could not be adjusted using electronic controls. Front windshield was filthy on the inside. Hard to figure out what was on it as didn't want to touch -COVID!!! Both of these problems posed safety issues. From the windshield problem it looks like the truck could not possibly have been sanitized since the last rental. Bill was wildly incorrect as well. As documented in second one sent, initial bill had $101.86 in overcharges. Customer facing skills of staff were excellent - courteous and helpful about problems but the problems are significant. U-Haul on Rt 16 in Medford/Somerville is an excellent facility. I had a storage space for 6 years and they were so great to work with. the price was excellent and the people were very helpful. My name is Isaac Laguerre. On the 20th of January I rented a pickup and a trailer from your store. When I returned the pick up truck i asked the the young lady to give me a reciepte she declined. And stated that it will be email to me. I said no, I need a receipt. She got up set printed the receipt and threw it my way on the desk. I would never recommend anyone to your. If I know someone going to your store i would discourage them from going. Customer service mean that you treat people with respect. I like them or not still need to treat customers with respect. I a state employee and I treat everyone who comes to my office for government services with respect. She needs to find another job. The woman who was at the desk on 1/16/21 in the morning, the first station you see when you walk in, was focused on checking her text messages and showed no interest for the customers. When approached, she responded in the unpleasant manner. However, the technicians who gave out the equipment and received the equipment back - were excellent, knowledgeable, helpful - way beyond the expectations. Especially on Sat. morning, when I picked up my trailer in the POURING RAIN.KRZYSZTOF S.

Upon looking for my unit after 20 minutes I went to the stairwell where the door locked behind. I called several times to have someone let me out of the stair well and it took 30 minutes. There was a major pipe bursting in our unit and it ruined many priceless drawings from our children. When we told you about it, including talking to the manager Bob, we were referred to your insurer. When we called them, they put up many obstacles to pursuing the matter. We dropped it. Your units are dark and poorly maintained. I would not recommend UHaul for storage to anyone in the future. We found a much cleaner and lighter unit run by a local company. I wish we had gone there earlier. I was told when i moved into my first unit that if it was not big enough, I would be able to upgrade to a larger unit if necessary/available. Having decided to upgrade, I looked at the website and saw a much larger unit - and then i called the store and reserved it. I walk in the next day and was told that not only is there not a unit this large available, the room listed on the website DOES NOT EXIST. The condition of my storage unit was average. The people in the office were not very friendly or helpful. I would often be put on hold up to 30-40min and would rarely get my question answered when I finally talked to someone. When I was moving out, they did not allow me to drop my Pod on the property (Unless It was a U-box) so therefore I needed to rent A box truck to transport all of my things to my Pod located 0.2 miles away. The storage facility is easy to access with lots of dollies to use to help with the move. The only problem I had was that my access card didn’t open the doors after hours but luckily someone was able to let me in. I had a question or issue about closing out my unit. I called for 2 days, with a 30 minute wait each time. When I was finally able to get through, I was told I needed to go into the office. That day, I went to the office and the girl who assisted me was extremely rude and dismissive. Everytime I said something, she walked away from me. I was told I needed to call the manager and was not able to be assisted at that time. I live over an hour from the storage unit and had to drive all the way there for nothing. 1. I was very surprised when I got to my unit, I was told it was 6' deep x 6' wide by 8' high. Instead, it was 8' deep x 6' wide x 6' high. I really wanted that extra height, but unfortunately this was the very last unit available on an elevator floor. (Units are split level with some on the elevator level, the other up a steep flight of 8 stairs.) 2. I was REALLY surprised to find that there is no lighting at all within the unit, so we were basically moving things around in the dark. 3. There is a concrete post right in the corner of the unit, rendering about 24 cubic feet useless. The people were lovely. Everyone I worked with was polite, patient, and wearing a mask. The Uhaul team and storage facility were always a pain to deal with. Nothing was ever quick and easy and everything always took 3 more steps than it should. I tried to change some account information and had to call 4 different times Over 2 days to get somebody who could make it work since they never called back like they said they would. The facility was clean and secure but swipe access never worked the first time. It would take 4-29 swipes to enter or I’d have to go to the office and they would reactivate the card. Your website says to be 15 min earlier before closing to be able to get the unit that I reserved so i arrived and I was in the office 35 min earlier. the person in charge he didn’t want to give me the unit complaining how he was short stuff. So He made me drive back again a distance 45 min and come back an other 45 min drive so i can get the unit next day. I work in a fast food industry as a manager I am always short stuff and costumers come in 10 min before close what would I say I am sorry I don’t make your food ? We rented a storage unit online. When we got to the facility, we learned that the unit had a big concrete column n the middle that took up 1/3 of the available space. The male cashier inside was extremely rude. He was unwilling to help me sign-in electronically and refused to sell me mattress bags inside. He even told me that I was in the wrong place, but when I showed him my reservation for this place he begrudgingly found my reservation. Store was VERY busy due to the colleges moving students out of the dorms, yet there was only one person working at the desk who is very overwhelmed by the people standing in line. There did not seem to be a manager or anyone else around. Even though we checked in online we still had to go into the store and wait in line because our code did not work, and there was no free lock inside the storage room they initially assigned us and once we got the lock it did not work because the door was not lined up properly. We had to go back and wait in line again in order to be switched into another room. There was a gentleman who was taking people to their storage rooms and he came with us to make sure that the room was satisfactory this time and that the lock did work. We rented our unit on March 11th, the day before U-Haul announced that college students could have one month for free. I have called the local store several times and no one answers and I get transferred to the National customer service who keeps telling me there's nothing they can do that I have to talk to the local locationfor the free month since we rented the unit the day before the free month was offered by U-Haul. I will still continue to call because the only reason we rented this unit was because my daughter was told to move out of her dorm and we knew if we didn't rent it immediately we would probably not be able to get a spot. The workers we dealt with were friendly, but the store seemed to be understaffed, and the staff that was there seems to be overwhelmed.
