My unit, 527, was very difficult to close the latch. I noticed several dents above the latch like someone beat it with a hammer. I got it closed but almost asked for another unit. I was given 3 total locations to drop of my trailer and one of them was 40 miles away, the second could not take my trailer after being told they could and this final location had absolutely poor customer service and I was placed on hold for over 30 minutes. I rented a 20' for one bedroom apt at mandarin location. The day before my move I was confirmed with a .26' at Phillips highway instead. When I arrived there was very little direction given and this was my first time ever renting a truck. I was directed where to get all the extras I ordered on my own. I felt there was very little customer service and not really much concern that U-Haul was unable to provide the size truck needed. I ordered the truck one month prior to when I needed it. The owner (identified by her nametag and some paperwork) was wonderful, helpful, and knowledgeable: she helped us in the morning to pick up the 15-foot truck. But when we returned in the afternoon to get the auto transport trailer, the rest of the staff was awful. They were rude and impatient but, worst of all, totally clueless. The â€œsystem was downâ€, which prevented us from hitching a trailer for over an hour. One person suggested that we back the car onto the auto transport, which is unsafe and against UHaul's own recommendations. Another person insisted on hitching the trailer in such a way that I'd have no way to drive out; he had to ask other customers to move out of my way, because he didn't want to angle the trailer any differently than he'd already done. A gal at the desk was condescending and wouldn't lift a finger to help us or other customers; instead, people felt stupid for asking questions. The atmosphere was apathetic and lazy. Knowing that the owner was the polar opposite, it must be that she doesn't have the time to train her staff properly or attract better candidates. Does she have an assistant manager? The staff does not make customers a priority. The one girl is super rude. She will ask you what you need and then go help someone else - she did this to me twice. The first time I stood in line, when I needed help returning my truck she walked outside with me, then said “I need to get the form and I will be right back”. She went in to help other people and when I asked her if she was going to come back to help me she said well I have to help these people in line first, and I said I already waited for 30 minutes in that line to be helped. I had to wait another 20 minutes for someone (a guy to help me). Forget trying to call to ask 1 question, I was immediately put on hold for 10 Minutes before I could even say hello or ask my question. I had to call back 20 times before someone answered the phone, thankfully it was a manager who was able to answer my question to close out my unit.
