There were bug and rodent traps placed in my unit without my permission. I told them months ago in the summer I was moving out of the unit and they continued to charge me. Not worth $150 a month just to take the risk of having your belongings infested and no tenperature control on top of being in the hood.

MICHAEL TI picked up truck with 1/16 tank of gas. Recommend charging for gas or miles, not both. I ended up filling tank to 1/2 full. To enhance experience, when I turned in truck a credit for the gas would have been nice or not charge $1 for mile. Gas prices with inflation and government shutdown, every kick back helps.

Each of them played a key role in making my rental process smooth from start to finish. Danielle Patterson, the General Manager, runs a very organized and customer-focused team. She made sure everything went smoothly and showed genuine care for her customers. You can tell she takes pride in her work and her staff. Jean Patterson helped me with my rental and was friendly, patient, and thorough. She made the process easy to understand and ensured I had everything I needed for my move. Her professionalism and kindness really stood out. Chad Thornton assisted with my reservation and return, and he was extremely efficient and courteous. He made sure the equipment was ready on time, explained everything clearly, and handled my return quickly without any hassle. Altogether, they made what could have been a stressful day simple and pleasant. I truly appreciate the excellent customer service and teamwork from Danielle, Jean, and Chad. I’ll definitely be using this U-Haul location again and recommending it to others!

TRACEY SThe whole experience was awful. The attendant was curt, rude and dismissive. He attempted to overcharge me for my rental and stated I would have to put down a $100 deposit if I was to use a credit or debit card. I repeated the request back to him several times to be sure I heard him correctly, which upset him, stating that I have always used UHaul and never had to pay a $100 deposit on top of the estimated charges. I had witnessed him bully the previous costumer in the same manner, with the customer apologizing for asking questions and further irritating the attendant. The attendant also attempted to charge me $69 dollars on a $19.95, 149 per mile rate at an estimated 10 miles. When I questioned the charges, the attendant became irritated and upset, raising his voice. I canceled the rental and called UHaul's 800 number. The UHaul representative spoke to the manager about the incorrect charges and the manager took over and corrected the charges; but not before telling me her agent wouldn't have told me there was a $100 deposit; because he's worked there to long, even as she could see what he attempted to charge me. When I returned the truck (which made grinding noises when braking and jerked when driving) the next day 20 minutes before opening, I was told by the same attendant to leave the keys in the truck and go. I requested an inspection of the truck and the reading of the gas and mileage, stating I would wait until the 9:00am opening. The attendant angrily refused stating he would email me a receipt. I requested a printed receipt and the attendant said no. At this point I begin to retrieve my phone to call corporate and I believe that is when the attendant recognized me from the day before, he then offered to print the bill and went over the charges. I'm a senior citizen and I have used UHaul my whole adult life and have never been anything but pleased with the costumer service and the ease of service. Sadly I believe I will have to find another alternative in the future.

The many issues that come with the moving process that having to guess how much to refuel to get the level back to where it was originally so as not get charged that extra refueling fee.

TANYA BI recently rented a U-Haul truck from the location at 1650 E 71st in Chicago, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I arrived around 6:30 PM. Although the location was still open, the male employee assisting me seemed in a hurry and mentioned they were “just about to close.” He was not very welcoming and did not verify whether I had received all the equipment I paid for. I had purchased a furniture dolly, which I never received, assuming it would already be in the truck. I also prepaid for 20 miles, which should have covered my trip from the location to my home and my new residence—each approximately 3 miles away. After receiving the keys, I inspected the truck for pre-existing damage and took photos. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of the starting mileage. I only drove the truck home—roughly 3 miles—and decided to return it the next day since my move had been pushed to September 1. Upon returning the truck the following day, Jasmine assisted me. She stated I had driven 31 miles. I explained this wasn’t possible, as I had not used the truck for my move and had only driven it home. Jasmine said unless I had taken a photo of the mileage at the time of pickup, there was nothing they could do. While I was refunded for the dolly I never received, my concerns about the inaccurate mileage reading were dismissed. In contrast, I had a much better experience with a separate rental from the U-Haul location on East 95th Street. I rented a truck from them for three days (September 1–4), took all necessary photos including mileage, and even went slightly over the mileage I prepaid for—about 34 miles total. Their staff explained that discrepancies can be verified by comparing to the prior customer’s ending mileage—something the 71st Street location refused to check. This experience highlighted the inconsistency in customer service between locations. I urge U-Haul management to review how concerns are addressed at the 71st Street location to improve service quality and trust.

The employees couldn't do anything to help me, they still charged me the same rate even tho the space wasn't what was prompted. I hired movers that was one a time limit and we wasted almost an hour trying to find my reservation for the storage space.. the workers were ok. But the system is old And outdated, I figure. I'm Never going there again. Once I find another storage I'm getting my belongings out of there and moving around!.. wouldn't refer this place to anyone!! Zero stars!!
