The Facilities manager who called me on Saturday afternoon was rude, impolite, unprofessional and a straight out little pr..k. (I am being kind here) The insolent little sh.t threatened me after his staff had let me know we could leave items next to the "Re-use Centre" as it was full of Uhaul boxes and equipment. The manager gave me a mouthful and told me the "Re-use" centre is closed and that the staff had no right to give me permission to leave any thing for Re-use. He instructed me that he was giving me until then end of the weekend to move the stuff shared for "Re-Use" and said he was noting the warning in the system as Uhaul do not dispose of belongings on behalf of clients. On arrival the next day there was one item left in the "Re-use" centre, I proceeded to clean out the storage unit and placed the left over item in to the locker. I then informed the Staff at the centre that Junk Luggers would be arriving in the morning to haul away the remaining items and asked what arrangement I could make to leave the Storage locker open for them. I was told that the items would be safe as the premises is under 24 hour surveillance and that they would put a red tag on the unit to seal it, that I did not have to lock the unit. The next day when Junk Luggers arrived they confirmed that the unit was locked with a red uhaul tag, but the contents of the locker did not match the inventory list I had shared with them. In short the staff appear to be nothing more than common criminals who helped themselves to the contents of the storage locker. If the staff did not commit the cold blood theft of the contents of the locker, you have a serious security problem on the premises. Lastly a staff member called me the next day wanting to charge me for taking my own lock and not returning it to them when I gave notice on the locker.Grant J. | Overall Experience

Check in was easy, however, a little slow due to changes needed to my booking. I requested 2 furniture dolly's and the location rented them out to other people before I got there. Not sure why I would add to the reservation if the site isn't going to hold my request. Would recommend not renting out items that customers book for online reservations.Gloria O.
Someone actually defecated between the rentals. I am lucky I did not step in the feces. The vehicle I rented had a strong odor of Pot. Unacceptable. I also was not aware the registration was behind the drivers seat until I called Uhaul. Luckily, I did not get pulled over for any reason.Daniel L.

Have good batteries on your trucks. We experienced the battery dying on us twice. The first time we were lucky that someone had cables. The second time, it was way too late and then roadside assistance took forever until I had to pay someone to go rescue my employee as it was taking too long for someone to arrive. This, not only cost me paying my employee for the extra time but also paying someone whom we ended-up paying to rescue my employee out in the cold. And so I not only ask for an entire refund but an additional credit next time I rent as this is absolutely not what I paid for and it ended up costing a lot of money. I have been a loyal customer for over a decade and as of late I have noticed that trucks are run down and this one is a prime example of that.fernando A.

The staff were very nice and helpful at both locations. Two things though: The pickup location didn't come outside and look at truck with us like all my other experiences have been. And they accidentally gave me the wrong truck so that when I returned the truck in another state it looked like I never had a truck and the receiving U-Haul store had no way to give me proof that I returned the "wrong truck" because something about the numbers were different. And we did think it was weird that the pickup location told us we had half tank of gas (which truthfully is inconvenient when you're headed out of state--I think I remember an old policy where you leave with a full tank and bring it back full. Who wants to stop for gas first thing after loading up and all that work and you've got a long drive ahead already. Just a pain. But anyway... We get in and it's 3/4 tank full and we thought that was kinda weird but didn't think much about it, but maybe we should have said something and then they may have realized they gave us wrong truck). It was stressful worrying about how I was going to prove I didn't still have a U-Haul truck because the drop off location called me Monday asking where the truck is, same guy we dropped it off too!, and I was like we dropped it off to you Saturday!! Then he remembers the situation and he was super nice and helpful. But that kinda freaked me out. But both locations were really nice about it, and got it handled and fixed on Monday. Otherwise yes, I still will always go U-Haul! And staff at both locations were polite, professional and helpful and reassuring.Jeannine F.

The Pick-up in Stamford, CT went very smoothly. Luis Santos who helped us was very friendly and checked the oil in the truck we rented and added a quart as we watched. He explained the rental process well. I assume many renters, like us, were renting for a specific short-term purpose and were not familiar with the vehicle. For example, we had some concerns about not being able to easily locate the controls for simple but vital operations such as windshield wipers, headlights and dashboard dimmer. I think a simple chart in the glovebox would have helped. We called U-haul but reached a person who was friendly but not specifically familiar with the vehicle. Apparently one cannot easily directly call the rental location without getting a central nationwide call center. The vehicle was rather new and operated well with good acceleration. We rented in Connecticut because our car had a catastrophic failure and we had two kayaks on the roof to transport to Virginia along with all of our other vacation belongings. Our longer kayak was 13.5 feet, so we rented a 15 foot truck. Fortunately, our boats fit diagonally, since the 15 foot length is the ceiling length, not the floor length. The floor length is much shorter due to the "attic" over the passenger cab being included in the length. We had lots of room for our other belongings. The truck was easy to drive despite having no rear-facing camera or backup camera. Despite these issues, I would rent this type vehicle again if necessary and I was comfortable driving the truck at my age of 78 despite having not driven a U-Haul or other truck other than once 20 years ago. The reservation system by phone also worked well. The only other detail which in retrospect was unclear was that the website said that all rentals were for 3 days. I realized after returning the truck that the form listed that we had a 2 day rental. We could have returned the truck in less than 24 hours and the person at the desk at the drop-off location was unclear if we had done so if there would have been a reduced cost or a reduced cost if we had said at pick-up time that we would return it in less than 24 hours.Michael R.

Good service. But the ignition is sticky on the truck I rented and it can be difficult to turn on the vehicle. I have noticed this on the same vehicle before and it has not been fixed.Matthew H.

The U-Haul truck that we received had low tire pressure as soon as we drove it off the lot. We filled the tire with air at a gas station and returned to the U-Haul pick up location to inquire about the leaking tire. We were just told to call road side assistance if something happened. Additionally, after our full day move we noticed that there were multiple cockroaches in the cockpit of the van, along with all of our stuff.Amy K.

i can't believe 14 miles they charged me for 8 gallons of gas and not only that but they also charged me 30 dollars for putting that gas on. pay $74 for 14 miles. and apart from that they give me a cleaning fee of 25. I don't like to make bad comments, but I think it was excessiveAlonso R.

The staff at this U-Haul on the date and time of my move-in deserve recognition! This could have been an average review, and they made it Excellent instead. When I got to this facility, I had reserved a storage unit. The staff informed me that the elevators were broken in an extremely kind and empathetic manner and that I would unfortunately have to carry my stuff up the back stairwell 3 flights to the 3rd floor where my storage unit was. They compensated me for this graciously and more than fairly and were extremely empathetic, sensitive, and kind about it throughout the entire process. Even as I was waiting on them to work through my situation with me, they were continuing this behavior with each and every customer that I saw walk in that day. This staff deserves recognition! This is the type of customer service that makes a company and provides a good name for a company, especially during times like these. U-Haul has provided me with great optimism and reason to be a long time customer and I can assure this company that the benefit of a long time customer like me with referrals because of service like this will far outweighs the compensation that was provided due to inadequate facilities to provide easy access to the storage unit when unloading a truck. Joese Sanchez and the head female manager there are “WOW” I have had the worse experience with every storage company but these two I don’t even have the words for it. They made me feel like a member of their own family. The service,the attention to detail, the passion to help me and listen to me was incredible and that head woman manger is GREAT like DOPE.Every time she sees me she gives me a hug. I was going through a divorce and a separation from my daughter that daily hug made my day and she had no idea how healing it was. I wonder if she even knows she hugs me.She is just great. The level of service I got from there I know for a fact they didn’t acquire that from Uhaul it came from somewhere else. Jose Sanchez Is an absolute Angel.I don’t even want to leave Uhaul. I have told a lot of my friends to go there.There was a time I couldn’t get access to my clothes. The storage was closed by the city for nearly 4 months. I had no clothes to wear to go to my interview and they could not let me in at all.It what a tough situation and I needed to get to that job interview and my suits were in that storage. I don’t know how her and Jose pulled it off I got a rebate and I was able to buy a suit and tie for that interview and I got the job.
