attendant moped oil out of the unit after it was hooked up to my truck, before I used it. I cleaned it before putting my home goods in it. then i was charged a $15 cleaning fee.

The experience was poor. The pick-up took 20 minutes as I had to wait in line (there was only one counter open). The truck was parked in a very awkward place and it took 10 minutes to get it out of this spot, The inside of the truck did not feel clean. When I returned the vehicle, the return place was not obvious to locate, and then the person at the equipment return did not greet me so it was unclear to whom I should return the keys.

The facility is old and has a mice issues. Trying to find a place to unload or load is nearly impossible because of all the uhaul trucks taking up the spaces that should be for storage customers. Store the uhaul trucks off site. The manger is great though and was very accommodating and helpful!

The staff behind the counter. It only made false accusations but they also straight up lied to me when I asked them for the requirements for renting a uhual first he said cash despot or credit card then I proceeded to the bank to pull out the $125 only to return and find out from the same staff memeber that they don't take cash only on a debit so then I had to to return to the bank and this wasted my intire afternoon also they where extremely rude and helped with nothing but more rude and setting my day off in the wrong direction

The app sucked. I couldn't take photos to start the rental. Had to go into the store which took forever. There wasn't a truck available that I had reserved 4 weeks previously had to wait around until one showed up. Then the app failed again when dropping off the vehicle. I couldn't photograph the mileage etc etc. Then for the next 2 days I had staff from the uhaul phone me to ask when I'm dropping off the truck! Two days after I dropped it off!!! Poor organization!

Location is convenient but very cramped so close to town. Nowhere to put the truck when returning, no direction from staff. I managed to flag someone down and he told me just to leave the truck in the middle of the one-way drive aisle. Fine for me, but the drivers behind me were irritated. Mobile pick up option worked well for me. It was my fastest u-haul pick up experience yet

Perhaps consider providing overnight parking for a limited number of customers. There is no place to leave a car nearby and no access to more distant parking options without walking or taking taxi. But overall good service and location

The owner and I believe his wife who was on the counter had such thick accents that it was impossible to understand anything they said. And I have lived all over the world and am used to accents. She also spoke very softly and I had to bend down very close to the plexi Covid shield to hear anything at all. If I had not used U-Haul before and knew the procedures I would not have understood the instructions. Also the Pick-up truck I rented for the day had a broken tail light lens. It has the "X's" on it and when I brought it to the attention of the yard guy he said it was OK with just the "X's". But as soon as I opened the tailgate to load the plastic pieces fell out. When I reported this upon my return I was asked if I had taken a photo of the "before" condition. I was not instructed to do so, so of course I did not. This "Take a photo" was also told to me when I pointed out that the fuel level on the gauge and on the paperwork did not match. This was not the most accurate or professional way to deal with this fuel issue. I requested that the paperwork be edited to reflect the correct fuel level. I was not offered a receipt for my transaction upon return and was told that I would get a receipt via email. So upon return I did not know what the final charge would be. I could have been charged for the previously damaged taillight and would not have known until 2 days later. When the receipt did arrive via email I noticed that the start mileage was listed incorrectly. As I was charged per KM a 10 km discrepancy was a minor but noticeable error. Even though I was charged for the extra 10 KM I felt that I had no recourse because I had not taken a photo. All in all this was one of the less pleasant U-Haul experiences of my life.

They charge me two days instead of 8 hours. I did only 7 miles and I filled 20$ gas and still they charge me for fuel.

The staff was super friendly and trying to help but it was a slightly long wait and then when it was finally my turn (20 minutes after my scheduled pick up time) the truck still hadn't been returned. The staff helped though, offering a larger truck instead. That was better than waiting for the other truck to get returned - plus they would have had to clean for covid. Anyways, this was not ideal because the larger truck was too large to fit where I needed it to go, but I appreciate that they tried to make it work.

Complaint is that the girls at the desk were so slow. One girl left her desk a few times to go outside and she walked so slow with a swagger and attitude of I don't care and I'll get there when I feel like it. People are moving and have a schedule. Her slowness put my schedule behind. I was not able to complete my move. So other than the questions asked above in the survey, I would not recommend Uhaul. I have always used Uhaul in the past, but now I'm wondering if I will again. I have to complete the move by moving my daughter end of February, I may use another moving co.

Truck leaked, had to ask for someone to show me where the truck was . Waited in line for ages to return truck only to be told I needed to get someone to inspect it first . Went 10 kms less than what I was charged but never got reimbursed. So paid $8.90 extra I guess for their coffee fund , lucky me .

I thought this was very resourceful on their part, and they deserve recognition. When I heard the system was down, I expected my whole day, or a large part of it, would've been wasted.

I went at scheduled time to pick up vehicle but system was down, told to go away and come back in 20 mins. Picked up 20 miss later, handed key and told to go find vehicle in the lot, identify by key tag. Truck was parked to close to wall so I could not get In. Went inside to ask for help and ease told to go outside and find someone to move it for me. When i returned the vehicle i filled it up with gas 5 mins before drop off and was still charged for gas. I ask for a receipt and was told to wait for email which arrived the following day. Lot attendants were acting as though they were being put out when I ask for help to pull the truck out of the lot space . Truck was parked so close to the wall that the attendant cleared the wall by only 3" when backing the truck out. Service was very unfriendly.

Be more courteous. Your agent was impatient and condescending when I picked up the truck. I returned the truck just after 7pm. Closing. There was another uhaul employee there. I wanted to ask him some questions about how to do the after hours check in. He was abrupt with me. He said it's after seven so figure this out yourself. “Just go online or call the 800 number I'm busy” Seems to me you have a bunch of disgruntled employees.

I showed up on time to pick up my truck and the lady who processed me had a no help attitude. We had to find the truck ourselves in the dark and rain. She gave us a number and we thought it was the license so after another trip in we learn it is the number on the top of the truck. Truck has a sign in the window and parked back i the lot. I had called her the day prior to confirm and she said we were the only truck going out early, it should have been ready. My little voice said check the rear door and guess what it was locked. Another delay to unlock it with no "oops" apology. That would have been great to get to our condo and then need to drive back. I do not like all the internet stuff U Haul uses. My phone doesn't have data and our WiFi was off as we were moving duh! I don't think it is unreasonable for your agent to inspect the truck when I get it, review any existing damage and verify the mileage. NONE OF THAT HAPPENED. I felt very uneasy about my whole U Haul experience that day but fortunately the drop off fellow was great.

There was a lock left on the trailer we rented, which was obviously not checked by staff. When we got to the location of our belongings we were moving and found that we could not open the trailer, we called uhaul and spoke to a manager who told us we would drive to another uhaul location or get a lock cutter and remove the lock. We were an hour away from any uhaul location, so had to drive into the nearest town and spend $40 on bolt cutters to remove the lock. We lost an hour of moving time and were on a tight schedule so this was a really poor experience for us.

There was some dirt in the back of the truck but not bad. Overall from the time I called to book the truck to returning it, everyone was very nice and helpful. The only thing I would recommend is that you tell other customers that the mileage is in miles not kms. Makes it easier when returning the truck and are being charged for it. Just less confusing. Besides the dog hair on the chairs, which I know can be hard to remove (we have pets too), everything else was great. The customer service from the young men there was ABOVE EXCELLENT! I would choose this location 100% based on the great service alone.

Have no prior experience with UHAUL or competitors. Online reservation system was simple. Pleasantly surprised at change to Topaz location from Queens, as this was my original preference but was not available online. Not thrilled about unexpected day-of upgrade to larger truck as it was more intimidating to drive but it worked out. Prompt service from staff. Disappointed Topaz location had no record of me pre-purchasing mattress bag and stating I would have to go pick up from Queens location even though they had them on shelf at Topaz. I also had to go back and ask them to find me furniture protectors even though they knew it was on order (In-store rack was empty) and was given 10 not a dozen. Truck was clean and drove very well. Return process simple.

Rental truck had a very badly cracked windshield (over the middle half of the windshield), and it should not have been rented until repaired. Unfortunately there were no other available trucks of that size at the time. Also, albeit a minor point, this was obviously a US truck as the speedometer was in miles per hour, odometer in miles (not sure why this is being used in Canada, as you have to do conversions to metric!) Also the price quoted to me on the phone was $140 for my reservation but when I picked up the truck, the price was $165. The customer service person said there was nothing she could do. So as a result, I would avoid renting at this location again.

Parking for customer's vehicles while , out in rental vehicles is needed. Directions to the customer regarding parking is essential. I, unfortunately; was left a parking fine, when I returned the rental vehicle. 😞

I have posted on Facebook also. I will never return and an urging my friend to rent elsewhere, your whole “return with gas gauge at exact spot” is a deplorable scam. The staff tried to take $9 extra from me. I drove a Savannah 17k and put 5 litres in. It had more gas then when I got it! The staff said that wasn't verified by the needle and suggested it was my fault for not verifying before leaving that they hadn't underfilled it! Fraudsters. Preying. I will continue to tell everyone I know; giving this location your truck rental business is going into your money to dishonest people.

I received the truck with a three-quarter full tank. I was told if I did not get the tank back to that same mark they would be charging me a higher rate per litre for gas to fill it up. I do not think that I should pick up a vehicle that does not have a full tank. How is a customer to fill a tank to the exact mark on the fuel level indicator that it was at when you picked up the vehicle? The vehicle should be at a full tank when picked up therefore when refilling it is easier to fill to the max rather than having to guess where it would be. This failure to have a full tank cost me probably an extra $20 and I don't think that it right.

Very frustrating service experience. We arrived on time, with a reservation, and there was no line, and it still took half an hour for us to have keys in hand. We were late for the meet up for which we required the rental and it ended up not working out. It made it a far more stressful and negative night than it should've been. the back area of the truck i used was covered in pine needles from previous use . while providing a great smell , it was also messy . The ease of use from booking online to picking up to dropping off was easy and the counter person was helpful . More furniture sized dollies for rental would also be a bonus .

I had an incredibly unpleasant experience working with this location. Not only did they not have the equipment I reserved, but the customer service I received was non existent. I had to change my drop off location and spent an hour on the phone with a uhaul representative who was very helpful. However the location did not honor the changes that were made, and I ended up being charged considerably more than I anticipated. I wrote a review of the location online detailing the various issues I had. I am incredibly frustrated, and frankly I will never rent from uhaul again because of this experience.

Storage area itself was fine but the organization was not. We were told at 7pm that the facility was closing when the website says we have access until 10. Parking and trying to find a spot to load/unload the truck was a nightmare. The online move out tool for storage does not function well at all, and the manager did not check up on this which resulted in me getting an email about owing the next month's rent as well as a late charge, and having to call corporate customer service because the location did not answer their phone. It took about four days to get any sort of confirmation that my move out had been processed finally, which was only in the form of a "how did we do" email.

There are definitely mice in the building and I found their feces in some of my belongings. The uhaul lit was extremely crowded with vehicles when I wanted to unload my items, and I was lucky the truck I needed was right next to the storage loading/unloading area. Staff were very helpful in helping to move trailers Out of the way so I could actually back the truck up. Another person was unloading at the same time, but there wasn’t enough room for them. Otherwise accessing the space, using the trolleys and elevator were fine. Again, staff were busy, but really helpful.

The manager was the type of person who wanted to take every penny he could squeeze from you, but wanted to offer the most terrible experience at a uhaul in Canada. Compared to the uhaul storage I used in Ontario, the Victoria Topaz location was terrible. There were rats in the storage lockers. For some reason the facility was NOT secured and there were homeless people inside walking around. One time I went to remove my things from storage and someone had left all their items on the only elevator the previous day and instead of quickly cleaning it up so that other customera could use the elevator, they left the elevator closed off completely for 24 hours. Therefore, I could not take anything out of storage that day and it was a waste of time. I will continue to use uhaul but not this specific location until there isa a management change. Thank you.

Horrible experience. We will never use U-Haul again We booked a truck for contactless pick up so we could make a specific ferry reservation. We got a call a week later saying we have to pick it up Later in the AM and miss our ferry or the night before and return it late with a fee. I had to call back and fight to not pay for that extra Time that I was forced to take. I arrive at storage locker and they have no lockers available with the square footage I reserved. I was then told “reservations mean nothing” and that I could only have a smaller storage locker with 60sqft less. My house can’t fit in it. The storage lockers are dirty and made of old wood with wire cage walls separating the units. We ran into another customer there who said they had a hug and rodent problem and were pulling their items out. After 1.5 hours of waiting for them to find a solution I was finally forced to drive to drive 45 minutes to a different storage company and pay more money to store else ware. They were AMAZING. Actual customer service, they gave us free flat decks because we had been Screwed around by U-Haul so long and they brought us out ice water to keep us going. I will be calling to get my storage locker insurance refunded and will also be inquiring about why our trip cost $1000 when the owner of a neighborhood store said he had never seen one over $400 Vancouver to Victoria. I will also be posting my experience on every possible site I can find. No one should have to deal with this especially during covid.

The staff at the local facility do the best they can with a flawed system. I had numerous positive experiences with staff member Abhin Jose. Access via the card reader-operated door or through the roller door was numerous times out of order during my two-month use of the facility. It was subsequently fixed, but half my experiences at the facility were with broken doors (though not insecure). Such things happen. The real problem is with U-Haul's system. It allows customers to reserve storage online regardless of the facility's availability so that they can not honour everyone's reservations. I was one of the lucky ones; I'd have been hugely inconvenienced had I not been as I had a truck full of furniture from out of town. As it was, I was only moderately inconvenienced by the resulting disorganisation. I also had to pay a full month's rent for the final week of use as the system does not parse rentals for any less than a month. Charge as you will with your business model, U-Haul, but that isn't very customer-friendly. Knowing this now, I will seek to use a storage competitor in future who can charge pro rata at least by week. Finally, the problems of the U-Haul system are intertwined with the self-service problems online, which I won't even begin to address. Suffice to say this is not the facility's problem but the U-Haul organisation's. My overall experience and note of others' complaints leaves me with the impression there is little appetite at the corporate level to address such systemic failures so I have low confidence anything will change, nor indeed that this feedback will even make it to the right ears.
