I had multiple problems with U-Haul. Setting up payment online was difficult and I didn't know when autopay was turned on or off. I couldn't change the contact for my storage unit online, and was informed I couldn't do it over the phone. I live across the country from my storage unit, and I cannot just walk in to change information. The location to pick up my truck was moved with little notice. I received several unsolicited requests to move equipment for U-Haul at a vastly reduced price than they would pay for commercial. Calling U-Haul was a mess every time, and I was continually routed to another person without resolving my issues. U-Haul is a pain to work with, using deceptive business practices to make more money for themselves (i.e. moving pickup locations so you have to rent a truck from them to move things). I was supposed to turn in my truck and trailer at another location, but was called and said i had to bring it here. It was several miles further, and the lady told me she'd give me the 8 miles on my rental. But, didn't offer anything else. It took me over 40 minutes round trip and roughly a gallon of fuel. this is after a long day of driving. Was unhelpful and upsetting. I got to the location at exactly 5pm and the guys inside said "we're closed". Understand they wanted out of there, but then I had to check it in myself and leave it overnight - not ideal. The Pickup location was Excellent! The Drop Off Location was Deplorable! David the Manager was obviously Inexperienced! He wanted Charged Me $75 cleaning Fee . There was a hole in the roof of the uhaul but otherwise equipment was just fine, staff was friendly though not super professional. Contract was not gone over at all, paid for them to hookup car to hitch since I've never & they failed to mention/wrap my seatbelt around steering wheel so we had to call and ask if it was normal for the wheels to be turning/sticking/not straight, lady put us on hold then said no and mentioned the instructions are in the contract. We explained it was never done nor told and she never apologogized for their wrong doing. Thankfully we called before heading out for our 15 hr drive but it ended up damaging my car. We did the seatbelt and all was good. Then when we got to our hotel 7ish hrs later we had to do some backing up which ended up making the strap on tire come off so we had to figure out how to strap it in again at midnight, then returning vehicle found out the other side was put on incorrectly by staff, that our side was right..Amanda S.
Not this location but overall from this experience was terrible I had a reservation at one location got a call at 7:45am on day of pickup and was told that the trailer was no longer available was sent to a location on Arizona av and Riggs 25 miles further by a customer service manger named Jennifer I get to that location and they don't have the trailer either even though she said they did I was then sent to this location 15 miles from the last location and they did have one the agent who helped me there was ok. Overall from the running around I got and hung up on by Jennifer twice my rating of uhaul is 0 and uhauls overall customer service is horrible.WILLIAM T.

I was also charged for fuel because they said the gauge was one line under the half mark. Have used Uhaul for years and this is the first time I have had such a bad experience. Will never use this location again. There is no place in the key drop off telling you to go to a website to sign the vehicle back in. Just another way to collect additional fees.Rosa W.

When I received my UHaul receipt, I saw a $20 After Hours Service Fee. I called the location and was informed that I needed to check the equipment in through the App. I mentioned I was never informed of that and the person's response was "It was in the contract and you should have paid attention to the contract". I mentioned that the other Customer Agent never mentioned this when I was discussing returning the trailer. Again the person I was speaking to made reference to the contract, App and there was nothing he could do regarding the fee if "I dont pay attention to the contract.".Michael R.
The online reservation system is awkward. I setup up a reservation, saved it and when I logged back on later, it was gone. Had to do it all over. Price quoted was $18.95 on the re-entered reservation. When I went to pick up the trailer I was told it was $30+. The system had added things even though I had declined them in the reservation. Clerk had to manually remove the add-ons. Keeps wanting to allow location tracking and cookies. What is the point of 2 part authentication to reserve a rental? First time tried the email version and it never sent the email with the code. Had to back out and redo it using the phone. Not very easy to use or User friendly.David O.

I was hospitalized due covid-19 and complications with valley fever! I am still hospitalized and this location treated me like absolute garbage and threatened me with charges because I had the truck longer than anticipated! I communicated regularly with uhaulâ€¦it was difficult reaching a live person at the actual location..99% of the time I was routed to the 1-800 number where my call was answered by someone in another stateâ€¦these people were always so kind and understanding of my situation and even spoke about how appalled they were by this locations lack of empathy and humanity! Anytime I spoke to anyone from here they didn't give a single care that I live in AZ alone..my family is on the east coast and TNâ€¦I had no way to unload the truck and return the truck due to the fact I have been hospitalized for roughly three weeks! My family had to come move my stuff to their state and bring the truck back because they told me they didn't care about my situation if it wasn't returned ASAP they were reporting it stolen!!! Thomas was by far the nastiest individual I spoke withâ€¦he didn't have an ounce empathy behind his voice either time I was able to speak to himâ€¦by far the worst customer service I have ever received! What if I weren't even able to talkâ€¦what if I died from my complications? They'd still be trying to press charges on me for stolen property when they knew good and well I have been hospitalized for over three weeks! Terrible people!!! Terrible representation of uhaul as a whole!!! I'd never do business with uhaul again because of this experience and how awful and hateful they were to me and my family that was trying to help me!! Smoke-damaged furniture was left in the facility by the entrance and the smell permeated my storage items, including some clothes, and then into the car. Very frustrating experience. When I was in the store picking up this trailer, I asked why the total was so high. The gentleman told me it was taxes. I was in a rush and had to make my pickup, however when I got home I noticed the contract now included $16 safe tow. I explicitly declined this when making the reservation online. I got home and called U-HAUL. After waiting on hold for 8 minutes, the representative said that he had to transfer me to customer service. Before I could say anything I was prompted with a 40 to 50 minute hold time! Absolutely ridiculous so I hung up and am sending this email! Please remove this fee from the reservation as I did not elect to include insurance, and make sure your staff are trained to not add this on automatically. I will also be leaving a negative review for this location as I 100% believe it was done intentionally based on the way he responded regarding the tax question.Justin H.

Employee caused damage to my truck bed cover by placing the hitch I just bought at UHaul on my brand new Backflip aluminum truck bed cover. He carelessly is trying to remove the plastic liner on the hitch with his personal keys as he is flipping the hitch on my bed cover. To make things worse I make him aware and he has the nerve to just walk away pissed off!!! To make things worse, he fails to install retainer clip on my new hitch I purchased at this location. This employee is a huge liability not only to Haul, but to the public attaching trailers to vehicles carelessly. I have yet to have a follow up since Friday.Santiago L.

When checking the fuel he put it at 5/8 full. When I got in the truck it was between 1/2 and 5/8. When I returned it it was at the same indicator between 1/2 and 5/8. So he proceeded to tell me I need to bring it back the same as it was when I left. I drove 21 miles and put 2 gallons in it. I asked him how many mpg's it got and he didn't know. So I told him that would be averaging 10 mpg and asked him if he wanted me to go get more fuel, he said NO. Then I got my bill today and they charged for 2 more gallons of gas. That means the little 10 foot truck only gets 5 mpg and 10 of those miles there was nothing in the truck. I had the 26 footer get 5 mpg. So you tell me where the gauge was and how much fuel so I have used for 21 miles. He asked me if I took a picture of the gauge which I didn't. IF there's a next time, pictures will be taken. I just rented the 15 or 16 footer 10 days ago for the same trip and it took 2 gallons to fill it back. So we have a problem. $9.00 too muchtodd G.

They couldn't find the trailer I dropped off. I was on the phone for a half hour at work listening to someone telling me that I hadn't dropped the trailer, the truck was dropped at the wrong location (despite being on my contract!!), and about another half hour digging through emails to find proof. Do not let U-haul roadside assistance put used tires on your rental! We had a problem with a tire and called U-haul road side assistance.U-haul roadside assistance service tech said the front axle could be bent and causing the front tires to wear out very fast. He replaced both front tires with used tires. The U-haul service tech pointed out that both used tires appeared to be dried out and out and possibly out of service date. The used tires didn't match the tires that were pulled off the trailer because they are a different PLY. The U-Haul service tech said "these are the tires that U-Haul gave me". I made it approximately 20 miles and one of the recently replaced tires blew out. The same U-Haul service tech was dispatched again and replaced the tire again. When I returned the trailer to U-Haul I asked for a refund. The U-Haul assistant manager said the U-Haul store manager had to complete the process. I asked the U-Haul assistant manager to take pictures of the tires on the trailer and add them to my file. The U-Haul assistant manager did not want to take the pictures because "It wouldn't do anything". I completed taking the pictures myself and filed a complaint through U-Haul phone support. U-Haul support advised me that it is company policy to "never put used tires on any of their vehicles". I had hoped to rent a reliable trailer to pick up a small car but this turned into an extra 5.5 hour nightmare.Jeff E.

24/7 app was slow, unresponsive. Took way too much time to check out. Truck assigned via the 24/7 app was the wrong truck, had no Word Lock, no ignition key and wrong equipment. Lost over an hour of move time costing money, due to incorrect 24/7 truck info. Will not rent from U-Haul again. Truck return was a total mess. Hope the GM can fix all the contract issues.Tim Z.

When I went to pickup the truck the attendant had no idea what he was doing. He somehow managed to lock the reservation, then tried deleting it. He could not upload my ID, which I had previously done online, so he then proceeded to attempt to use my friends ID instead. I originally booked at N Arizona Ave in Chandler. On the way home a lady from uhaul called and said that location didn't have any available and tried sending me all over the East Valley to get a truck. Then we finally found one closer to me. I went to that location and made the reservation, even though they closed at 4:30 on Friday and not open on Saturday because they were an automotive repair shop. I didn't want to leave my car over night in a dark empty parking lot. I then went to the Chandler Blvd location and made reservation. Then uhaul sent me an email or text telling me to pick up the truck at the original Arizona Ave location at noon, even though the reservation was for 7 am. That's way too much nonsense from uhaultodd G.
Correct information. I called online to see how many could sit in the cab. I was told three. That was untrue. This affected my movers having to take a second vehicle. I went to pick up the vehicle and waited my turn - leaving at 9:50am not 9:30am. I had to have my second mover get another vehicle. We returned @2:10pm - again I waited in line - only to be told that I could leave the keys and they would send me a receipt. I was charged 2 fees for the rental - I should have had the vehicle back at 1:50pm because of the wait. They charged me for 2 -4 hour periods, despite the fact that they had one person working at 2pm checking out/in. Also, I stopped and put in gasoline but was still charged a gas fee. Now I know why they tell you they will send you a receipt - so they can add charges and not discuss it with you. I came in on October 31st 2021 to close out a unit. Signed paperwork, removed my belongings, and left. About 2 weeks later I received a call telling me that I need to come out a lock on my unit. I call back and inform them that I closed the unit out on Halloween evening and had nothing in there, plus I moved out of state. They informed me that there were items in there and I needed to come in to redo the process. I then asked to speak to a manager who was unable to come to the phone and was told he’d call me back. Next thing you know I get an auction email. Called again to let them know hey I signed a paper back in October and have nothing there. Was again told that they would take care of it and I needed to do nothing. There was never a time that our account was maintained with accuracy. Our code was never updated correctly so we were locked out most of the time. We couldn't even make it through the security doors. Employee Anna Hintze is very helpful for me to have a storage locked because I loss 3 storages total every time I made reservation per storage on 24908 S. Arizona Ave in Sun Lakes. I was very frustrated for a month because every time I make reservation and never sent me an email for me to send my credit card information and my I.D. to hold the storage. The storages was sold to someone else. I could not trust with Sun Lakes storage anymore. I had to find another location storage. I explained to her what happened. I was in line for 30 minutes. There was only 1 customer ahead of me renting a truck. The customer was an employee and was trying to get an employee discount. The person behind the counter did not know how to give a discount. Another employee came in and said she had to start over. Then when she started over the customer’s employee number didn’t work. It’s unclear if this was a system issue or an incorrect number. Finally, the worker from outside helped me get my rental space. It took at total of 45 mins to to get my space that I had already reserved online. This was an excessive amount of time when only 1 person was in line ahead of me. I do not want to give the facility a bad review, but my last interaction is what made me not want to deal with this particular property again. The gentleman that assisted me was rude, unhelpful, and just plain did not care about his job. On top of all of that, I am being denied my prorated amount. The guy rudely said, We dont give any money back here. I am not happy with his behavior or the way he treated me. I am very frustrated with the fact that prorated amounts are not provided, I just paid for an entire month in the 13th and we moved out yesterday.
