Used 2 gallons of gas charged me for 8. I traveled 56 miles. It was impossible to use that much. Called and girl was very rude sent me to customer service who said they were not authorized to refund.... gave me the truck at a hair over 1/4th and also charged me a surcharge when returning for it being a hair under 1/4. Never explained by the brand new employee. Could get the cargo door open by myself. Had to have help as it would get stuck half way down.david Q.

We rented the biggest truck you had for our move on 11/10th, got the truck the day before so that we can start loading it on the 9th and leave early Thursday morning (10th) to go unload at the new house and come back for the rest. As we went to unlock the driver door to get in and leave the key snapped in half. We quickly called the Uhaul in West Springfield Ma to inform them and see what could be done to get a new key ASAP. Immediately we were told there's nothing they could do and we had to deal with roadside assistance. We called them and set up a service call which we couldn't be told an ETA on. At this time we decided to go rent another truck as we couldn't wait around to load the rest of our belongings with new owners coming into our current home. 3hrs go by and we get a call from then asking if we canceled our request! Of course we sat no and she apologized and said at this point we could drive down to the West Springfield Uhaul and they would make us a new key!!! This is what we asked from the beginning and were told no! We spent more money on another truck and ended up moving until 1am the next morning because of all of this. Completely unnecessary and disappointing that someone could have helped but decided to make things more difficult for us.junius C.

Making sure the trucks don't smell like cigarettes. It's not the first time I've rented from here and the trucks have always smelt like cigarettes. Also I'd keep up with the mechanical maintenance of the vehicles. It smelt like something was burning and the steering wheel vibrated way more then it should've. When there is a line of customers (3) waiting for an employee who has no urgency to assist. This causes what is now the review. On behalf of my experience everything went well. But once I received a phone call about returning the vehicle by the same employee who has no urgency when you're physically there, don't like that. Considering there is at least one vehicle not taken. Granted the vehicle needs to be processed after drop off. Management should really do their part.Gabriel R.

Joe the manager was great and super helpful. There is a glitch in the system when someone prepays AND has to downsize one box ( we ordered 2 but needed one)â€¦ the automatic refund didn't happen as I had already prepaid which led to me having to call each department/ warehouse/ delivery/ main number / file reports, so I spent at least 10 hours on calls and hold trying to figure out how to get our refunds for the different aspects ( delivery/shipping/ final delivery and unpack! It was exhausting and rather ridiculous. I recommend a new payment system that can handle that. I can't recommend UHaul due to how much headache this caused. Also- I tried 5x to get hold of manager Jason Brownell at the Charleston office and he never returned my calls. Joe in West Springfield was very receptive and communicative.Joanne G.

They didn't send me any confirmation emails when I booked the truck, so I have to stop in person a day before so he sent me a confirming text, yesterday I dropped the truck, and the girl said that she will will check and sent me an email, it is more than 12 hours now, Sunday morning and the haven't sent that email. I had great customer service at the West Springfield U-Haul. I reserved a trailer at a different U-Haul location and the lights didn't work, so I rushed to West Springfield just before closing and they rented me a trailer, even though it was after closing by the time they finished hitching. The trailer worked and the return was quick. Thanks!William R.
I was ripped off. Two hours from my origin location the fully-loaded 20 foot truck began pulling to the right so sharply that it hurt my wrists and it could barely be kept in a straight line. Mechanic friends were shocked that the truck would be rented in such condition. I was told I would be reimbursed for the truck. When I called to resolve the matter the manager said he had never told me that. I had to pay an unexpected 8000.00 to ship Uboxes across the country, as well as train fare back to my origin. I was not going to risk my safety again with a shoddy truck. Uhaul packed my stuff into the Uboxes. My belongings arrived crushed. Clearly-marked â€œFragileâ€ boxes were underneath book boxes. Many of my totes were crushed. While I was waiting for Uhaul to make good on the promise to reimburse for the truck I accrued over 500.00 in rent for the boxes. My jewelry supplies were ruined due to sitting in extreme heat in the meantime. I have spoken to at least eight representatives to try to get this resolved, and have opened a claim. No one has ever gotten back to me. I can't emphasize enough to stay away from this unprofessional company.Camille C.

Pick up location: I called central reservations to make the initial reservation. I asked for several close drop off locations but was told I had to make that request at time of pick up. BUT the pick up location was unable to enter into the computer any of the desired drop off locations. So we called Uhaul's scheduling manager Dillan who at first stated I would need to drop off the truck where Uhaul needed a truck. I explained it was not my job to drive an extra 30-60 minutes out of my way just to drop off the truck after a long move. He finally stated he changed the drop off location for us. The girl at the pick up desk tried to confirm the drop off location change but the computer showed nothing had changed. After 45 minutes we had to leave very frustrated and unsure of our drop off location. Drop off location: The next day I called the scheduling manager AGAIN and asked for specific drop off locations. I was told it was all set and one of the desired drop off locations was now available. BUT I never received a text for the new location so I had to call several more times before FINALLY getting a satisfactory location. When I got to the drop off location I was unable to use the after hours drop off link because it kept stating "...expired..."! So once again I had to call Uhaul and speak to a live Rep who told me I was all set to just leave the truck there. My wife and I are EXTREMELY upset and dissatisfied with Uhaul's "customer service" or lack thereof! The pick up and drop off locations did everything they could to help us. I have no complaints about the staff, cleanliness, and general maintenance of the space. Thank you. The limited nighttime hours, though, was a disappointment, and the key pass arrangement was confusing and bothersome. Some signage explaining rules was wrong making it hard to know "what to do and whom to call" after the office closed. The unit was great and all staff were nice. However not being reimbursed for unused time that was already paid for, is a bad practice. I already paid for a month that I am not using, and you can rent out the unit and get a month’s rent from someone else, double dipping.
