Rear driver side taillight/brake light didn't work at all and the passenger rear tire pressure was low also.TREVAR A.
While the vehicle performed fine and the employees at the location were great, I have had the worst experience with U-Haul. Upon creating the reservation for my vehicle I advised U-Haul employees on the sizing I would need. I mentioned I have a 2bed/2bath plus a den (no dining room furniture) apartment. They said a 15ft truck would be fine and at best at 17ft. I said I was worried that would be cutting it really close and I should get a 20ft. They said I would be overpaying if I went with a 20ft. I went with my gut. The U-Haul was indeed too small even at 20ft. I would've needed at least 3 more ft on the truck. I was moving 8 hours away and didn't have the luxury to just drop items off and run back for what was left. I had to leave behind two box springs and a few other random items. Thank GOD I trusted my gut and went with the 20ft because if I had stupidly went with the 15/17ft truck that I was advised to I would have had to leave behind so much more. Another huge issue was on 8/25, the day before I was scheduled to move out, U-Haul called me and I missed the call. No voicemail. But I received a text and an email stating that my pick up location had changed. However, when I signed in online the location still stated my original location. Neither location the old or new would answer their phones for me to confirm where I had to go since they were on opposite sides of the city. I tried calling the local dispatch scheduler from U-Haul that called me in the first place and I waited on hold for over 2 hours. I had a lunch planned with all of my friends that I was leaving behind when I moved and I missed it trying to figure out what was going on with my U-haul truck. Because I was picking up so early the next morning I couldn't just wait until then to figure this out. On my other phone, I called regular U-Haul customer service and after 25 minutes someone answered and said that accoridn got her my pick up location is confirmed as the NEW location not my original one but from what she could see that location still didn't have the truck I needed and she had no way to confirm that but for me to still wait on hold with the dispatch number or she recommended me to drive to the U-Haul new pick up location and speak with them in person. So that is what I did on my last day in Chicago. I missed a wonderful goodbye brunch with my friends because I was running around Chicago driving to U-Haul to confirm my appointment. Bravo. This had nothing to do with the employees at the pickup location at all. This was all because of the customer service from online/phone.JACQUELYN KRISTI M.

Everything on the vehicle was good & solid. I just needed the truck to have some type of force or handle to strap my tool box i loaded behind the truck . But overall it was good experience .ROMUALDO L.

No recommended improvements at this time. Excellent customer service. In fact, I regret that I did not not get the name of the representative who assisted me. The first van had a problem with extremely loud noise. She learned that the catalytic converter had been stolen. Once she discovered that, she made certain that I had a better van. The special care and attention that she provided is most appreciated. As mentioned, I did not get her name, but she is a petite slender young woman. The trailer should have been inspected prior to rental. There was a loose rubber weather seal when I arrived home and opened the door. it did not affect anything or impact my trip but as a precaution I would have liked that to have been taken care of. And I did have an issue with a blown tire during my trip which was resolved through the roadside service but possibly a precheck on the tires may have helped with getting them taken care of prior to my trip.Noel C.

Check your vehicles before renting them out. The truck was shaking couldn't go 40 and the brakes were HORRIBLE!!! Customer service wait time is entirely too long. Why the store can't give u your refund considering they took it. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE 1st time & pasAPRIL C.

The car's mechanics was extremely bad, i had real hard time dealing with the tuck as it keeps on turning off out of sudden from time to time, the dashboard suddenly shuts down. I arrived at the location to give the truck back i waited for ever for someone to check the truck, told them about the problem i faced and got nothing in return. Im supposed to get a fully working truck with no problems and i didnt have to face all these problems, im not a one time costumer i was willing to relay onyour company for my work.MOHAMMAD A.

Very bad experience at this place first you have to wait like 45- 1hour to get whatever you're renting. There was an employee who wants to fight wit me. Cause he said the weather was to hot for him and he was very mad cause he was working. Trying to call several times to the manager without respond. I wouldn't recommend this place to nobody. My reservation was for another location (forest park). They lied to me and said it was for the Cicero location which was 45 minutes away in traffic. When I arrived they said I didn't have any record on file and wouldn't be able to get a truck that day. I was lucky enough to have someone return a truck early as I was about to leave. This is your company's fault for overbooking trucks on the first of the month, and for making it nearly impossible to directly contact a location. I was outraged and disappointed and will not be using a Uhaul service ever again. The staff at Cicero location were professional and helpful; the forest park location can go and fall off a cliff.LUKE P.

There is no reason to wait in line for over an hour for a reservation. Also person helping me refused to update my reservation to corporate, and I had to use my own money. Too long lines and a Manger who should have assisted with the long line. People need to learn customer service skills and place needs to get up to speed with keeping the lines long.OLGA M.

We showed up - after having a reservation for weeks - and there were no trucks. The people that worked at the counter had no answers except to call the corporate number- a giant waste of time.I had to â€œcamp outâ€ and wait for a returned vehicle. Instead of a truck we got a cargo van so we had to make twice as many trips. - but at least we got the move done and we're able to use the movers we had paid for. We returned it that night with more gas than we started with and having driven 40 miles. I woke up the next day to a bill that was for 400+ dollars because someone in YOUR organization entered that we went 600+ miles - which frankly would have been nearly impossible in the 9 hours we even had the truck - brilliant! So I called and the person on the other end took my wrath - maybe if we had had decent service the day before I wouldn't have been so angry - but now I have to deal with a general manager and wait 3 days because of YOUR screw up. We've used u haul several times before for longer moves and never had this type of trouble. Now - for a one day in- city move - we had nothing but trouble!!! I am expecting my bill to get addressed promptly - your phone person indicated it could be 3 days which is too long when it's your mistake. I work with the general public in a professional capacity and would never get 3 days to correct a multi hundred $$ mistake - if I was careless enough to make one. A giant 0 this time!JULIE P.

Make sure trucks are clean before giving them out to the next customer. The 1st truck that was given to me was very dirty in the inside and smelled, they changed it and the 2nd was a lil dirty as well. I was in a hurry so I took it and cleaned it myself. I made my reservation online and everything was ready when I got there.I also bought mattress covers,which were cheaper than the store.The truck was clean in the cab and inside the back of the truck.Returning after hours was easy but I wasn't sure if I went through the right steps on my phone to download the pictures.I went back to the store the next day and everything was calculated right.The employees were very helpful and kind at pickup and when I returned.Inside the store also followed protocol for safety because of the pandemic.
