I made a reservation a week prior to our move. I wanted a 26 foot truck. I showed up early to my rental time and my truck hadn't been returned. The only place that had anything bigger than a 10 foot truck was 30 mins away in Coralville, Iowa. So not only was the the truck size that I needed unavailable but I had to drive 30 miles to get even a 20 foot truck. Then when I got to Coralville where the 20 foot truck was, they tried to convince me to rent a 15 foot truck. They did charge me only 59 cents per mile for mileage. However I had to drive 60 miles for dropoff and pickup so that "discount" for my inconvenience was negated. Because we had a smaller truck we have to make 2 trips between houses. Plus people that were coming to help me sat around for an hour because I was an hour late getting the truck to the house because of having to drive 30 miles and then wait at both places. I've moved a half dozen times in the past 10 years and I've always used a UHaul truck but after this experience I don't know if I'll use you again. The people were kind, but I dont feel I was given an appropriate discount for the hassle that I had to go through.

We were suppose to rent in Cedar Rapids. That location gave away the Auto Transport. Even after we called and confirmed yhat morning. ??

I think that the rentals should include 50-100 miles with the rental charge. I also think that if you only need the vehicle for part of the day that there should be a discount on the rental in the form of free miles. I understand you probably don't want to adjust the daily rental fee for half a day, but then the mileage rate should be discounted to half the normal rate.

U-Haul rep. that handled my transaction was 2 days on the job. I was sorry that he had not had the opportunity to receive more training. He had a great attitude. Trailer size that I had reserved was not available...had to substitute a different size.

I only wanted a normal size truck, the U-Haul rep I spoke with when ordering gave me a bigger size truck, which is obviously more expensive per mile. I will not be using U-Haul again.

Customer service was superb! I was in and out very quickly, and when I came back to attach the trailer the service was great. He attached the trailer, and guided me (after I returned with my vehicle) with driving my car onto the trailer. Then he secured my vehicle because it was my first experience with a trailer. All-in-all, I was able to load my entire apartment onto the U-Haul and the trailer with my vehicle in a few hours.

I understand system failures with todays technology. However, the staff at the Coralville UHaul did not communicate with the long line of customers that we would have a considerable wait (1 plus hours) to pick up our reserved rental. The customer service at this site needs to be reviewed by your leadership team.

I made the reservation online and pre-paid including uploading my information so check in would be easy. It was far from easy. The night before pick up I received a text message noting I was to pick up the truck in Davenport, more than an hour away from my residence. And check in in Coralville It took 25 minutes and they attempted to charge me $11 more than what I had already paid. I told them since I already paid they can’t raise the price. They told me it was a computer glitch. Not sure what was going on but I’m very unhappy about it.

Gary the owner was patient and listened to my situation. He even corrected the other centers errors by exchanging a dolly that I purchased at the previous location that was broken. When I dropped off my equipment the staff was very helpful and professional and even asked if there was more they could do to make my experience better. I appreciated that after dealing with the previous center.

We tried to do early pick up with the online reservation, but when we arrived the app said we had to do it in person. This lost us nearly 2 hours on moving day. I called customer service but after 45 minutes on hold I gave up. This is NOT good customer service and I am extremely frustrated with the experience. When I finally saw an agent, she was efficient, courteous and fast, which somewhat mollified me but didn't get my 2 hours back.

Sep 14, 2019, I returned U-Haul at 6:45 p.m. (the light in the office in Coralville was off, but they work until 7), but then the guy came out and dropped my key through the hole in the door. Next day U-Hall charged me an extra 20 $ for return after office hours. I've spent 20 min. to call them and ask for refinding.

The mirror of my truck was stuck and because of that I almost got involved in an accident twice. Besides that, there was also a hole in the roof of the truck that allowed leaking water -- from the thunderstorm -- watering a lot of my clothes and electronic devices during my trip in the road. It is was a horrible experience as I've lost some of my equipment sand also some clothes as the roof was dirt.

There are TOO FEW PARKING SPACES, forcing customers to park their cars a block away at the mall, this is unacceptable. Also your per mile charge has become onerous such that your ads are bordering of DECEPTIVE when you read something like $19.95 per day - even for short local trips it can easily DOUBLE THAT PRICE!!! I would much rather you simply charged $35-$40 per rental with a 50 mile cap before addictional charges. As such I will be renting from a local Penske operation in the future.

For the third consecutive time I've returned a truck after business hours your online check-in has not worked properly, requiring me to call the facility first thing in the morning to make sure my rental was checked back in properly. This has been an issue for several years now. Please debug this.

Wait time and pickup was a little frustrating since I had completed everything online, but had to repeat it all again as they refilled out the application form. Also, we asked to upgrade to a larger truck and the person helping us couldn’t get his hand held computer to work, so told us there wasn’t anything available without checking further (even though I checked via my iPhone on the spot and again after leaving and it clearly stated the next size truck was available for our date and pickup time). This was additionally frustrating as there were several larger trucks sitting on the lot.

If you don't have what a person reserve give them a phone call to give them a choice if they still want to use it. For customers with reservations you should have a different way for them to just pick up keys to make the process quicker and easier.

The business was very busy when we picked up our rental. The two employees were doing their best, however, it appeared that the check in process was lengthy despite many of us having checked in a head of time online. There were unfolded blankets thrown in the back of the rental that we didn't order or need - we just had to keep track of these during our move. When we returned the rental with the unrequested blankets, the owner was very rude stating "I have to charge you for not folding the blankets". I'm sure he had a long weekend but there was no need to be rude at return.

There was only 1 person working when we went to pick-up our trailer, it took almost 30 minutest just to get our trailer. Then when we were finally helped he was less than friendly, he acted like we were bothering him and he really didn't want to be there.

I filled out all my info online when reserving to save time at pickup. I had to wait a half hour in line to obtain the pickup truck at 730am on Saturday. It was very frustrating having to provide my information again- not confirming- but giving it completely a second time. 3 other people in line had done the same thing- we were all pretty angry at the wait.
