would not rent me a trailer as i brought my ford explorer. your sign says rent to any vehicle. very disappointing and ended up costing triple the cost to rent a truck last minute instead. very disappointed.

My biggest issue was I had to park my car at the Wendy's next-door. There should be some parking for your own car when you take one of the U-Haul pieces of equipment. Also it would've been nice to know ahead of time that I had to call somebody to verify that I was renting a truck and at 7 o'clock in the morning there weren't too many people that I was willing to wake up to some random phone call saying that I was renting and I was who I was. That should've been fairly clear on the website next time.

Requiring the use of my phone at the venue where I'm renting the truck is utterly absurd. After multiple attempts to get the app to accept my selfie, the process ultimately went back to the person behind the counter.

The truck was supposed to be ready at 8am through the 24/7 truck share program but when checking in I had to come back at 9 for some reason. The staff was less then helpful when it came to this issue and basically told me it isn't their problem. After all of that the truck cab smelled like urine so I had to drive with the windows down all day.

The rental I had needed the power steering topped off and the employee wasn't paying attention and over filled it. This caused issues the entire trip from CA to TX and leaked on my new driveway.

This is not unique to the Simi Valley location but the self check in and check out requirements are ridiculous, cumbersome, and a time waster. I am moving this week and purposely went to Penske for the truck because of the new processes. Maybe I'd feel differently if we at least got a discount for now essentially working at uhaul.

To answer the ( was the equipment clean and in good condition) wasn't as easy as yes or no. I rented a 17' box van that 183,000 miles on it. The roll up door was difficult to pull down and latch. It seemed to run fine but the alignment and wheel balance seemed a bit off. It hopped and wandered on the road a little. It might be time to retire this old work horse.

Don't rent equipment that breaks down. Don't make customers wait for hours for roadside assistance. Don't charge for replacement equipment when your piece if shit trucks break down

The self checking didn't work. I turned on location settings and downloaded app for android. The location setting issue stopped me from checking in for 15 minutes i also tried the qr code.. Then i had to use a device from clerk which didn't seem like the uhaul device. I'd suggest you setup a kiosk with a tablet setup ready to go for self checking in. Otherwise staff was friendly and coutious and the uhaul brand and service is a wonder for the community.

Hated the phone-based pickup/return - I'm a former tech support so it's not a case of techphobia - during pickup wanted photos of blemishes - how big of a scratch or ding??? on return wanted picture of mileage and fuel - add pictures but it never highlighted "Continue"

Online system didn't advise that online check-in is mandatory. On stressful rushed moving day, we figured check-in at desk would be faster but found clerks unable to check us in. Online system harder to do on phone. Make it obvious that online check-in required. Also, couldn't upload DL tho tried 2x. Clerk did it in portrait mode and it went in, so perhaps landscape not allowed? If so, please STATE that. System required 12+minutes to "confirm" and the alternate contact person was never called. What took so long? Clerks were playing on phones as nobody else was in line, while we all stood around waiting for those 12 minutes. Your processes need SIGNIFICANT rework from customer service standpoint. Truck was muddy on outside but OK inside. Gas was almost empty - very stressful to have to gas up before even using the vehicle when time is tight for a move. Plus it's hard to know how much fuel to add to return truck at same quantity. Car rental companies all rent cars with full tanks so it's easy to just fill it up again prior to return. Why can't U-Haul? Latch on back lift door not working smoothly. It didn't retract all the way at one point and when the door went up, the latch got caught in the top framing and we almost couldn't get it unstuck to close it to drive. Next time I'll rent from Penske.

My experience was awful at the Simi Valley location. The tech messed up the electrical in my car and they wouldn't fix it. My car is now damaged and I have to pay to have the repairs done. I asked them at the time if they could help and the manager refused to bring in the tech, or help. She only gave us $40 off. I now have repair bills, my blinkers and brake lights don't work, and I received the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Your company is absolutely awful. I tried to call customer service and just waited on hold for hours. I have never been so disgusted by any “manager” or company in my entire life. The “hitch expert” damaged my car, refused to fix it, and then refused to even try to help. The location is a joke and I would never recommend to anyone. I would have rather rented a trailer from anywhere else but there were none available. The manager should be fired.

Your advertised 4x7 open trailer dies not have 4ft width loading space, had to upgrade because of this. Thankfully they had the other one available, if not it would've ruined my project.

There was quite a long period of time where I couldn't reach the staff at this location by phone. I was always transferred to another facility to take a message for them. 9 out of 10 times that I left messages I did not receive returned calls.

Rude, lazy and not willing to work staff. They all had their cars blocking my storage unit. I had to ask them for access, when not one but 3 employees leisurely took their time moving their car show vehicles as I waited a few minutes. The facility is dirty and it would make sense with 3 ppl who just take their time doing almost nothing. There was a mixup by uhaul of my pickup location and the staff were not helpful. Which all coincided with the customer service number who basically did the same thing and pushed me off to someone else to someone else. What a waste of time having me drive all over town and not be helpful. Horrible experience. If I wasn’t moving and needed your services that day I would have gone elsewhere. From this point forward you lost a customer. Thanks for wasting my time. Good to see staff being paid to do absolutely zero work.
