This was the best experience with U-Haul I’ve had in a long time. I rent from U-Haul all the time and I dread waiting at the counter. After fully setting up the app and figuring out how this works I can Totally see myself using this in the future. Easier than asking your friend to borrow their truck

Employees are always great at this location and usually only rent trailers. Never had a problem but the truck we got this time was pretty rough. Has a hard time shifting. Often gets to 5000 rpms and more than a few times it down shifted on the freeway out of nowhere causing us to slow down abruptly.

I had a very long wait time, of over 40 minutes while dealing with payment issues and getting two holds on my bank account when their should have only been one, so I have been short TWICE the amount of money I planned for, for the last 48 hours. I am not happy with the service and I am bummed I had to wait almost an hour on my moving day to get a truck. Not cool.

Make sure you take good care of Ron. He went above and beyond which included locating a blown fuse that I didn't even know I had. This guy is a definite keeper and a great asset to your company.

This was by far the worst customer service I have ever been provided. The staff was incompetent and could not help me out in any way shape or form. My day began at 7:30am when I arrived at the powell Uhaul pickup where I had a reservation for a 10' truck and dolly. There was no reservation for anything within their system and no dolly available at the site. This meant that I was to drive across town 20 minutes to the Milwaukie store where I was to pick up the dolly. The associate that I was originally working with at the Milwaukie store was aggressive and took all my issues I was expressing about the poor customer service I was receiving through Uhaul, as a personal insult. Not professional. They also charged me 2 times as much for the trailer as I was originally quoted over a month before the pickup day. He was unable to alter the price at all, and said I needed to wait until the assistant manager showed up because she was the person who could alter the price. I waited 2 hours for the 11am start time of the Assistant manager to arrived and waited to receive a phone call. She never called. At 11:30am, I go ahead and call the Milwaukie Uhaul store, and get put onto hold for 5 minutes. After that 5 minutes, the call was picked up by someone on the other end of the line, then immediately hung up. I then try and call back, and the phone line escalates me to what I assume to be regional customer service. A few minute later, I received a call from the assistant manager at the Milwaukie store, Jessie. Jessie expressed to me that because she was not there at the time of the interaction, there was no way she could help me... this is exactly the opposite of what her associate had told me 2 hours prior, and the entire reason i felt OK swiping my card in the machine. When she told me she was unable to help me, after having described my entire situation I got upset and asked why it was everyone I have worked with in the portland oregon stores seems to not be able to help me despite a quote and confirmation emails. Jessie, the assistant manager at the milwaukie store, hung up the phone on me. I was astonished. I have never seen such poor management material. I honestly thing she needs to be demoted to being a regular associate. The gentleman with the regional customer service, Joshua, was helpful and got to the bottom of the situation. He notified me there was some mixxup in the server and my order had been placed under a different name. He said the reason I was being charged more for the same 2 products was because the 2 stores had not communicated to each other and had not charged me the combination pricing for the truck and trailer. This is a very simple fix that for some reason nobody could figure out at either of the Portland stores we went to. Overall, the experience sucked and I will be going with Penske next time. *Remember* Jessie was completely helpless and the entire sales team needs to be retrained in customer service.

I wouldn't recommend uhaul for anything ever again. The locations and the people at the locations are fine but the whole reservation and drop of system if a big freaking joke. It cost me in labor money because you switched my pickup up location 40 minutes round trip from the requested pick up location and notified me two hours prior to pick up via email which I didn't see till I was going to pick up at the location I requested. So I had people standing around getting paid to do nothing. When I called they tried to tell me that some one contacted me a few days prior (I had no voicemail) and that someone called me the morning of (I had no missed calls). I got nothing but lies. Then you changed my drop of location another 13 miles away from where I originally requested it. With only 30 miles allowance, that is a super crappy thing to do. I see this as extortion.

As I was waiting to be helped, I watched as the manager argued with a customer. The customer was angry that he hasn't been told about the mileage charge. The managers response was that he didn't have to rent to him. That the man could go somewhere else. Then when it was my turn I was told the trailer I had rented for 24 hours needed to be returned in 20 because they had reserved it to someone else. I had to rearrange how I did my move I'm order to accommodate this change. I told the counter person I had it rented until 3 pm his response was simply that it was rented at 11 and I would need to have it back by then. The customer down the counter that had the argument with the manager and I shared a look, both of us shocked at the level of service. I will never use this location again.

The people were friendly and helpful. However, the software Uhaul uses to book its U-boxes is not efficient. The manager had to call to book it, and then it wouldn’t allow him select a Unix for storage or add another to the same order. A shame because the experience was great otherwise, and if the software doesn’t work, there’s nothing the office can do about it. Fix your software!

The girl that helped me at this store was tremendously helpful, patient and friendly, without being an “overly friendly” phony. (Hate that!) ?? Dude I talked on the phone with however...nothing too egregious, but a bit pushy, insisted on controlling the conversation. After I hung up I realized how many questions I still had that I did not get out of my mouth because of his “style” of dealing with callers.

I made my reservation online. The online system sent me a “confirmation email” for my reservation at the fir street location in Oregon City. Nobody called to confirm. I walked from my house to pick up the uhaul at fir street and they told me that my pick up location was at the Milwaukie location, I showed them the confirmation email and they said “looks like the uhaul online system screwed up”. I asked if there was a possibility of having the truck brought over and I was told no. I told them I walked there and no one even offered me a ride home for the error, so I walked home and drove to the Milwaukie location to pick up the truck. When I arrived there I explained to them the error and asked if I could get a discount and the general manager mr Ramaeker gave me a smug but emphatic “no”, at that point I knew uhaul was not interested in having satisfied customers so I simply accepted the fact that uhaul was not going to have any accountability for their error, nor make even the slightest effort to show empathy making my move more difficult than it needed to be. Most customers would be satisfied with a 10%-15% discount which would have equaled $12-$19 off of my bill, but that clearly isn’t something uhaul empowers their employees to do. Which makes me wonder why a company would send out a survey to see how a customer’s experience was, when they don’t even care enough to solve the problem with a simple $20 discount up front? How much money does uhaul spend to staff and respond to these surveys? Why not just cut the survey program and save more money since it obvious uhaul doesn’t care about their customer’s experience? Just something to think about, but I’m guessing whoever reads this will throw it in the trash and laugh just like the employees at the stores were obviously trained to do.

They were a little disorganized - kept me waiting while they discussed other issues. It would have been nice to have some instructions about some oddities of the vehicle, I got to the dump with a truck load of stuff and the tail gate wouldn't open. I had to borrow a ladder to get into the truck to empty the load. The manager told me later I needed to take the keys out of the ignition to get the tail gate to open. That would have been nice to know ahead of time.

The manager Rick gladly and kindly helped me way after hours. I offered to pay him some cash to assist me with error messages upon after hours check in and he kindly refused the cash offer. He deserves recognition for his efforts. I had another issue upon check-in today with the 26’ truck and he gladly took care of that as well. A big thank you to him.
