When we returned the trailer one U-Haul employee was in the return area working on what appeared to be his personal vehicle. The only other visible employee got in a U-Haul truck and left without offering to help us return the trailer. The employee who was working on the vehicle in the return area ignored us until I asked if anyone was supposed to be inside. He responded curtly, â€œYeah, she's busy.â€ I asked, â€œSo are we just supposed to unhook the trailer ourselves?â€ He replied, â€œYes, just leave it there and she'll check it in.â€ He did not offer to help and made me feel like we were bothering him while he was busy ignoring us. Terrible lack of customer service. I have no idea how much longer we would have had to wait around in the empty store if we hadn't gone outside and asked what was going on. Hard to recommend this location to anyone.JAN D.

The lights on the truck were very dim and made it hard to see driving at night. The facility had the open sign on even though it was not. The after hours check out was very difficult and made me waste data by uploading photos. Also, the gas prices at the location were horrible and definitely price gouging.Glen M.

First, my credit card was charged well in advance of services rendered. Then I got there at the scheduled 11:30, discovered an error in the charges so they were incorrectly asking for more money than I already paid, and discovered that the person who would be installing the hitch didn't even arrive until noon. I never received the promised call before work started to confirm the billing error had been fixed, and in the end I didn't get out of there until 3pm, 3.5 hours after I arrived for a 1.5 hour job. First of all only one customer service rep at counter, with several people in line waiting, hitch technician took out my yeti cooler and did not put it back. I drove my truck a documented total 12 miles, I put 2 gallons of gas in it, before returning it, and then I was charged an additional $30 for 4 gallons of gas for the vehicle, for a total of 6 gallons of gas for driving 12 miles. Seems like a little overkill on gas to me. That was really frustrating to me.Kent L.

The girl working was amazing! She knew I have had a day, everything was going wrong for me, she completely turned it around! And it sounded like the guy helping the customer next to me was doing the same thing. These employees are the example of, how all companies should encourage, upbeat, cheatfull, fun, extremely helpful and great at relating to the customers quickly. My negative comments are directed not at the employees at this location but rather at the U-Haul technology/IT systems. I arrived at 10:00 am at my scheduled time. I had previously completed all the on-line paperwork to accelerate pickup of my rental vehicle. I arrived at the site only to find the website for expedited delivery wasn't working properly. After many frustrated attempts I entered the location office where the two staff were trying mightily to assist the two people ahead of me in line. Their computer systems were malfunctioning as well and while they explored work-arounds for the problems we all waited, and waited, and waited. One of those customers left in frustration. I waited and after about 1/2 hour and having to start completely from scratch with my reservation information I finally got my rental vehicle. The last time I attempted to rent a vehicle from U-Haul there were similar systems malfunctions that caused to me to cancel my appointment and rebook at a different location. How U-Haul stays in business with such poor technology in 2022 is beyond me. Hopefully some day it will improve.Buford W.

Upon arrival (after a nine hour drive), I was informed the storage unit I had reserved weeks in advance was not available. Instead, I was given two smaller and extremely inconvenient units- inside and upstairs where we couldn't bring the truck (it would have been hours of backbreaking work to unload and re-pack. The staff were not friendly or apologetic. I cancelled the reservation and went to Public Storage, where everything was incredibly smooth, easy and comfortable. When I returned the truck the next day, I had barely opened the door to check in when the person at the desk yelled at me from across the store that he didn't need anything from me and to leave the truck and go. My experience with the truck and pick up in LA was good, but I will never return and will never recommend U-HAUL storage. Public Storage was a far superior experience.Georgia F. | First Impressions
Gas gage was a quarter of a tank when I picked up. I used it for 2 hours, drove it 5 miles total, and returned it with exact amount I got it with. The return app tried charging me 174$ for the rental. I had to return in the morning and straiten them out. The manager was saying that their records showed it was almost full. Luckily I took a picture and saved it on my phone of what the miles and fuel level was before I drove it. I recently rented a Penske box truck and had absolutely no problems at all. The return was super smooth. No online return or anything. I will take my business to them moving forward.Matthew S.

Communication was very poor with regards to my hitch installation appointment that i scheduled online. Called the number twice to check status and it was picked up by corporate telling me everything would be taken care of right away by the local installer. They never called me back. Could not get through to them at all. Very confusing scheduling experience with the left hand (local installers) not knowing what the right hand (Uhaul Corporate) was doing. When I finally got it in for installation they called and told me they wouldn't do the wiring harness because something didn't appear stock on the van?! As I only needed a 4pin harness their risk aversion to the wiring scope was overkill. So I had to schedule another local shop to wire it up which meant another appointment and a weeks delay getting the hitch functional. Something like this shouldn't be this difficult. My husband and I arrived at our local u-haul facility after a 9 hour haul. We had confirmed reservations for drop-off and storage unit. However, the clerk disappeared when he couldnt find us in the system and some time later a manager appeared. He stated that I had no such reservation for storage or drop-off. There were about ten frustrating minutes of the manager stating (almost taunting) "We don't have your reservation and you SHOULD have the paperwork in hand". I let him know, as a manager, that to blame the person for the FU done by U-haul was in bad taste. When I made a call to corporate U-haul, they found our reservation right away. The manager still refused to process me or even look in the computer during the call. When U-Haul sent over the reservation directly his manner changed instantly. Suddenly I was a paying customer and not a vagabond looking for a free box to crash in. Even so, they were out of the storage unit, a 5x10 space. we had reserved to unload our belongings. So, a 10x10 was finally located and it was 2 times the cost. And the space was down a harrowing tunnel of fluorescence and metal doors that would have been ever so tedious to traverse and painstakingly slow to move items on a small cart down such a long hallway. We decided to put our stuff in a shed and forego any more transactions with u-haul. I would not recommend this U-Haul location bc management is rude and the line was so long. Several customers were told that the trucks or storage that they had reserved were not available due to overbooking and shortage of equipment.Maggie M. | Overall Experience

On the last occurrence, employees could not find time to help due to a long line and I was advised to find another way around. We got a 2 or 3 bedroom space in storage got to our destination and the 2 and 3 bedroom storages are all up 3 landings not exactly the easy way of moving would have been nice to know before getting my hopes up in Salem Oregon to my over hour journey 3 storages later not fun I ended up going to 3 separate uhaul storage places . There are people smoking drugs and living inside at least two units at this location. You can smell chemical odors when you drive by their open units, that appear never to close, only to get tarped closed. They also jump out and scream at you randomly while visiting your own unit. This went on for 4+ months. I attempted to message you via your website but got cut off multiple times. As a busy person with a business, it took me some time to find another option. But I’m thankful I did. As we were leaving another homeless person with a large full shopping cart was moving into the storage unit down the hall. Our lock looked like it had been tampered with and the unit door looked like it had been bent at the bottom. I’ve always had good service by you folks at other locations. This location is just horrible and needs to be rebought by corporate. The employees are unfriendly and unhelpful. I feel like they owe me for at least half of my rent back, due to negligence. General manager let’s people live in there storage units! They are homeless people! When I talked to Ron he was very Rude and not wanting to do anything about it! I was told that he has a lot of Nice homeless people living there!!! The facility is not a home to live in. The whole place is filthy with used needles and garbage all over! I had to move out the next day. I was talked to horrible from Ron. I was also told that I should go look at other storage places they have the same thing going on there! Every time I went there I had to go to the office and report a problem. Mostly talking to Ron. I never felt that my stuff was secure there. Really all I have to say it WAS THEY WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A UHAUL! Thank goodness the 3 people I talked to on October 3rd 2020 were very helpful and understanding on what is happening there. Also Ron I did get a refund for a whole month there because of you! I am looking forward to talking to his boss soon and I am not going to hold anything back from him. I will never tell anyone to go to this location because of the general manager there. I have never been so disrespected from any MAN as I was with RON!! This past winter, when my mom had to move to a nursing home, we chose this location purely for it's proximity to out home. We were so fortunate. We needed to rent a truck and get storage in a major hurry. The staff were super helpful, and the manager even helped us out with locks, because we didn't have the right ones, or the money to buy them right then. I am impressed with the security of the facility, the ease of access and the professionalism of the staff.
