I was told that during my 1 way rental the total cost included the fuel, there would not be a per mileage charge. This was quoted during our phone call to reserve equipment, and again when I showed up to pick up the truck/trailer. When I dropped off the equipment 80 miles later, the folks said a receipt would be emailed to me. I was shocked when the statement included another charge for $35 for fuel surcharge. I was given the truck with less than 1/2 a tank of gas. Upon calling this location, the manager said UHAUL routinely does this. Worst part is that the drop off location shared a parking lot with Racetrac gas station, I could have filled up the used gas, just like any other rental car I have ever rented. This is deceptive business practices.

David HIf we have to take pictures of each side of the truck, dont park the trucks less than 2 feet from the next. Went before opening, didn't deal with any personnel. Do full maintenence checks on all trucks. Vehicle was not maintained and high risk safety concerns: no running tail lights working (bad for night driving). Resulted in getting pulled over and issued a warning from the Sherriff. The seal of the windshield also pulled off once it reached 50 mph and had to deal with that across the country.

Thomas TI reserved a truck only had 1/4 tank of gas which means we had to fill it up and then try to return it back with a 1/4 tank and in the end we ended up going in the hole for gas. All new rentals should have a full tank of gas! Anything else is completely unacceptable. I am finished with U-Haul and I will be renting from Ryder or Budget next time.
