This location had uhauls parked on the street that were difficult to find, and to return at the end. Picking up a truck through mobile pick-up was complicated and difficult to navigate, especially at this location.Raphael R.
This U-Haul site was based out of an auto shop that had essentially no parking, so our U-Haul was several blocks away (with no indicator as to where it was) from the pick-up site. When it came time to return the truck, it took us 45+ minutes to find a legal parking spot to return the truck (and the location was closed as it was a Sunday). Additionally, we were charged for the rental of a utility dolly and furniture pads that were never provided. These were marked as "returned" on our receipt.Meghan H.

This was an overall horrible experience. I originally booked another location at Atlantic Ave but it was moved without my consent to this Washington Ave location. I would never, ever, ever use this location or Uhaul service ever again. I showed up at 8:30am as per my reservation and knocked on the door. A man opened it and shouted "we don't open until 9!" and then slammed it shut. Because he was so angry and aggressive, I called their office phone and explained I had an 8:30am reservation, not 9am. He told me he was waiting on a couple trucks. I then called Uhaul twice because the first time I was supposed to be on hold but she sent me to a phone menu option. Then, the angry man from before walks me and points to the office without speaking and then some other man checks me in. The other man explains the van only has 1/8 of a tank left and I am now responsible for doing their job and filling it up to a 1/4. This is unacceptable and I ignored it. However, since their staff in angry, aggressive, and rude I just left to get my move over with. I returned the van in perfect condition. Another third man opens the door and asks to look at the tank. I went about 2 total miles. Then this man blocks my way from getting out, bangs his fist on the side of the van and says "you need to fill it up". I declined and he said there would be a $20.00 service fee. That fee is also unacceptable. I wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy and I expect someone from customer service to contact me about a refund.MATTHEWROSS H.

The van was given to me with exactly 1/4 tank of gas so that I would HAVE to stop and get gas before returning it in order to avoid the $30 fee that I was not warned about. This was obviously intentional. I barely drove it at all and the rental I was expecting to be about $45 ended up being $75. Total racket.Joseph P.

This is concerning the UHaul location on Washington St in Brooklyn, NY. The location had no designated parking. The vehicle was not ready when we arrived, we had to wait 20 minutes for the vehicle to be dug out of the snow and that time was not compensated. The representatives at the facility did not provide us with a signed contract and did not specify the fuel level that we had to bring the truck back with which resulted in us getting charged $16 for fuel at check-out. The service was completely unprofessional. The online check-in option that we selected was completely irrelevant at this location, we had to go to the representatives and talk to them to get our vehicle. We then had to find parking on-street when returning the vehicle which took us about an hour of circling around and we had to pay for all those additional miles that were added due to us looking for parking. I am very disappointed with my experience. I think UHaul should at least specify on their website that this pick-up/drop-off location does not have designated parking and that renters should calculate that into their cost AND time. We ended up paying $100 more than we estimated mostly due to the lack of parking and unclear directions. On top of all this, the moving help we had requested through UHaul bailed on us after confirming that they will be there (Peace and Love Movers). We were first told it will be one helper instead of two and then that helper didn't even show up and his line was closed so we couldn't get a response from him. We had to carry everything ourselves up three floors. When we called UHaul for help with that, they directed us to an online chat and did not provide any alternative. I would think twice before using this service next time and would look for a different platform. I would also definitely avoid any UHaul location that is not a big facility with a designated parking and hope that UHaul clarifies that to their customers in the future.CARINE C.

The truck was a wreck. The driver door wouldn't close all the way, the tire pressure monitor system was malfunctioning, the pull door to the back of the truck was almost impossible to move. Plus, the attendant gave me no instructions about how to return the truck, and when I got back before my scheduled return time, there was no parking available, and the lot was locked. After contacting U-Haul and getting no other option except to "find an open spot," I had to squeeze the truck into a spot across the street. I'm hopeful I returned the keys to the right lockbox, but the attendant gave me no instructions on how to properly return the keys either. Would recommend attendants spend more time talking people through the return process, especially if they won't be there for the return.Anthony J.
Got the location on time. Tried to do the contactless pick up, the guy at the shop said he I can't do that. I had to wait an hour for my truck, which ate into the 6 hours I reserved it for only giving me 5 hours. The guy also stressed me out by telling me at first he had no more vans for me, then told me the system was down and had me get the van via contactless pick up. NOT a pleasant experience on top of the stress of moving.Jordan M.

Vehicle was all greasy and dirty. I didn't mind as I was in a rush. Representative asked me to bring truck 9am He was no where to be found until 9:30am Overcharged me with cleaning fee for 1 min broom sweep. This has left a very unpleasant horrible experience from Uhaulgentian V.

There is a lot but it is locked at the end of business hours, so you have to find street parking for the U Haul trucks when you drop them off, which is tough to do in BrooklynMatthew F.

The guy charged me extra for fuel because he claimed that he gave it to me with more fuel than 1/4 even though I just left the gas station before bring in the Truck. (I returned the truck between the 1/4 and 3/8 notch which was more that he actually gave it to me on) I had physical proof of pictures and time stamps for how much the fuels tank had when I picked it up (3 mins after my pickup time on my receipt) and where I dropped it off as. He said â€œhe doesn't know where I got my pictureâ€ picture and refused to look. As well as refused to go look at the tank in the trunk with me. I reserved a 24/7 pickup at this location and my vehicle was not prepared when I arrived before opening hours to pick it up. This led to me needing to re-plan my day. I was given no indication that the vehicle wasn't ready until I got to the location and was left standing outside in the cold. There needs to be a better notification system. The location would have known 5pm the night before if the vehicle wasn't ready for pickup but I was given no information.John M.

The whole pick up/return process is confusing. More guidance during the online pre-checkin, and then the return process would be good. For example, maybe a text alert halfway through the rental period as a reminder that you have to go through a check out process online before returning the keys. Getting to Customer Service takes a really long time. I wasn't confident at all that the person I was talking to was giving me the right information. It was overall a frustrating experience trying to return the vehicle.Ashwini S.
I do have a gripe. The person at the location did not outline all the fees associated. I used the van for like an 1 hour and use 2 gallons of gas but was not told I would be charged $37 because the gas was not at the same level. Nothing was clearly explained. The location did not have the hand truck or moving blankets that I had reserved. The service was slow and disorganized, so I didn't drive off the lot until a half hour after the time I had reserved the vehicle. The office was closed be the time I dropped off the van, but no one had told me what the process was for returning the key/van. I had to leave the keys with a mechanic in the shop, not knowing if that was the proper procedure or if that would incur additional charges.Ellen N.

U-Haul needs to stop offering dollies and furniture pads at these satellite locations if they're never going to have them. This was my first decent experience with these locations â€” one other time, I was told there's not a truck for us even though we've reserved, and another, I was told the office was closed and keys weren't available even though I'd reserved for that pickup time. However, the dolly and furniture pad problem remains; you go to pick it all up, and they say they don't have it.Mai S.
This location was horrendous. My reservation was for 7:30, but the operator did not arrive until 8:45 to start processing vehicles. Then I saw quite obviously that there was no cleaning effort made with the vehicles that were being turned over - a dangerous game amidst this pandemic. I had reserved multiple furniture pads, but this location didn't have any in stock. Lastly, in returning the vehicle, I was instructed to park on the street near the location. You can imagine what trying to find a parking spot for a U-haul truck in New York City on a week day is like... The lot from which I rented was not open on weekends, so it was unclear where to return the vehicle to. I was told to park on the street next to the building, but no parking was available for many blocks. I had to call Uhaul customer service and request an additional day to try to park the vehicle. The next day, there was still no parking available, so I parked several blocks away again. While it appears I was not charged for parking too far from the building, I probably spent 3 hours and $20 in gas trying to park close enough that I wouldn't be charged a fee for parking farther away. It was not clear how far away I could park without being fined, and clarity in that would have resolved much of my complaint.Zall H.

This was a bad experience. We were all in line waiting with no word from employees. After 30 min finally they admit there's too many of us and not enough trucks. We started to panic and tried to find a different truck elsewhere. Everything was booked as it was first of the month. They did have an extra pick up truck for me (not the 1 bedroom truck I reserved). This caused us to start moving late and we had to make 5 trips with the pick up truck. I admit, I kept the truck 45 min extra because I didn't even have the truck at the time needed. I had to pay our movers an extra $200 because we needed them an hour extra due to using a pick up truck for a 1 bed apartment. I then get charged $50â€“probably gas because we had to make so. Many. Trips. I'm annoyed at this location for not admitting or communicating what was going on. This may be my last experience as it was so stressful and time consuming.Caitlyn B.
There was one worker and a line of people picking up trucks so it took a long time to pick up our truck. He never asked for identification of any kind and then just handed us a contract, pointed to the truck and literally ran off. We didn't know if we were good to leave or not. I had booked the truck until 6pm, which I didn't realize was after hours. When I arrived at the location to return the truck, the gate was closed and I had no idea what I was supposed to do with the truck. Nothing was explained when I picked it up. So I parked outside the location on the street and hoped that was what I was supposed to do. It would have been great if there had been someone handling people and someone handling the trucks. Since one guy was doing everything, he was running around, pulling out trucks and didn't have time to answer questions or explain simple things that would have been helpful to know.Brittany B.

This location is much worse than the Park Slope location. I had to wait 30 min in line to pick up my truck. Most other locations have mobile checkin. Other people in line were getting turned down for showing up an hour after their reservation started (but if you reserve for 24 hours, it doesn't make sense that your reservation just disappears if you show up late. You already paid for it). I showed up 20min after my reservation time and felt lucky to get a truck. The uhaul staff was rude on top of that.Tyler I.

Was supposed to have my key ready for a 7am pickup. Key was not there. Had to wait till 9am when they opened. And had to wait another 30 min after to get the truck. A 2 1/2 hour delay made my move miserable. Then when I was charged it looked like I was over charged about $30 - $40. Did not even fight it because I wanted to be done with it. Next time I need a truck, UHAUL will be my very last option.August F.
I tried to do pickup for 9a and I wish it would have been possible to pickup earlier. I waited in line until 9:40 and since I needed to have the truck back by 4p, it stressed me out/I didn't want to pay for time I didn't have the vehicle. The location is great and the customer service was great. It's a bummer the location doesn't have dollies. It'd be great if the site could tell you availability bc I would have gotten dollies elsewhere and that also delayed my day. This is all pretty minor but it would definitely have helped my day. The facility is dirty. Not inviting at all. But the person who helped me was very nice. The online experience is horrible. I booked online with U-Haul twice. Both times I could not log on when I was at the rental facility. The first time I had to rent from another place at just minutes notice. I had to pay a premium for that.powell B.
1. THE UHAUL APP IS A PAIN IN THE ASS! NAVIGATING PAST ALL THOSE 'OFFERS' TO MAKE MY BOOKING; CREDIT CARD INFO AND DRIVERS LICENSE PHOTOS NOT SAVED ON THE APP! THE WHOLE EXPERIENCES IS SO CLUNKY AND AWKWARD, STANDING ON THE SIDEWALK DOING DOZENS OF SCREEN ACTIONS IN THE SUNSHINE. WITH ZIPCAR, I WALK UP TO THE CAR, PRESS ONE BUTTON ON MY PHONE, GET IN AND DRIVE AWAY. 2. IN THIS CASE THE VEHILCE I BOOKED WAS NOT AVAILABLE. IT TOO 15-20 MNUTES TO GET ME INTO THE ONE NEXT TO IT! Clearer signage. The van we were using was also, unfortunately, very dirty and covered in animal hair and what appeared to be animal feces. The office was hard to find. The man working at this location was helpful and kind, I just think his office needs an upgrade and some clearer signs. I will likely seek a different location if I need a van or truck in the future.
