Even though the location was great I was extremely disappointed that I had to drive 75 miles from my original request rental location to pick up the trailer.James E.
The moving help was a total mess. We requested a morning start time and they didn't show until 3:30 pm. By that time the friends who were helping had completed most of the loading (they're all seniors). The movers loaded the heavy stuff but couldn't load a trailer properly or secure the load. U-Haul was no help!! You shouldn't peddle a service you have no control overDavid M.
Representative charged me 50 extra miles above my estimated mileilage, even after he was told I did nit need the extra mileilage. I was charged anyway. Then after returning the truck, using less than expected miles, MY funds for the UNWANTED MILES have still not been returned to me. What a scam! The staff did NOT know the U-haul software. The owner showed up after almost an hour later and was able to find our reservation. The OWNER told my husband to go out in the field and hook up the trailer and pull it to the front of the office. My husband had NO help from anyone in hooking up the trailer. VERY unorganized facility with very little Public Relations manners. We initially called to reserve the 5x8 trailer in Colorado Springs where we live. However the closest one available was Westcliff, CO which is a 2 hour drive one way. So it took over 4 hours drive time plus the 1 and 1/2 hours to work with the staff. OVERALL the experience was actually less than a Poor Rating. Solution would be to credit us some $$ for the above named experience. Thank you, LindaClifford M.
I rented a 6 X 12 Cargo Trailer. The guy that I spoke with sad the trailer is over there. Go get it and bring it over here ad we will finish the paper work. The trailer was extremely heavy to put on my truck. I was able to do it but what happened to customer service?GERALD H.
Reserve the truck in the town that the customer asked for. I had to drive 2 hours to get this truck and on top of it had to pay for mileage and gas for the extra distance and was never offered a discount.DOUGLAS E.

Having this review only for the pick up location is rediculous. The site has no control over the rental or Uhaul operations. Westcliffe Petroleum was great, Uhaul was horrible and we won't ever be using them again, nor recommending them. Our reservation made by corporate was messed up (no equipment actually available), I was on hold for over an hour trying to remedy the situation, was never responded to by phone or email complaint and then forced to spend 4x the amount on what was available. I can't understand why they charged me another $ 20 for the after hours service fee and $ 5 for the sales item. I didn't buy anything !!!! Moreover, I refueled the car more than was necessary. I have attached the Recite to the contract. Give me the money back.FAIL S.

The Westcliffe guy just pointed to the trailer out in a field, turned around and walked off. I had to hook up the trailer by myself and then drove off. I thought this was okay, since I had preregistered with UHaul. Then someone called from Westcliffe and said I had to come back and check out. Anyway, it was finally resolved over the phone.Robert R.

I am annoyed that this system does not allow me to file a critique of U-Haul corporate and its policies. It seems like any negative feedback I might leave would fall squarely on the shoulders of the franchisee and not where it belongs, which is on your webmaster and policy-makers...Teresa S.
The cab and cargo areas had not been swept out and there was trash under the driver's seat. Despite having checked in online and followed the directions, we had to wait 25 minutes to get the key. Seemed like the clerk was not trained on online check outs.Cecilia R.

Custer service called me 2 days before my reservation to let me know that the location I had choose as my pick up no longer had the small trailer for me and that I would have to drive over a hour through the mountains to pick it up. I called the location to make sure they had it and then when I got there the man was rude and almost wasn't gonna let me take it cause it was their last one even though I had a reservation. Then told me to just go hook it up and pull it into the parking lot. I must have looked confused cause I said no I will just wait till we do the paperwork and then he finally offered to come assist me.Gretchen H.

We had to hook up the trailer ourselves. My wife got there before me, as a walk in. We didn't have a reservation, so he had no idea I would be meeting her there. Whoever rented us the trailer told her to pull around out back, pick the trailer she wanted, hook it up, and go back to the office to fill out the paperwork. She is disabled AND has no idea how to hook up a trailer. Luckily, I met her there 15 minutes later and was able to hook it up with the help of my son. The person did come out to check it once it was hooked up. The return went much smoother with a different person.KERRY N.
He is not ready for online pickup. You still have to go to him to get keys, which is fine. He was not very friendly. One of the 10' trucks smelled of smoke really bad when we had opened a few of them while waiting on him helping a customer with something else. When I wanted to make sure that wasn't the truck we were getting he got very irritated with us stating he would have to start over. In the end we took whatever truck he had already filled out the paperwork for.Kelley P.

You could do more to make sure the pick up location is what was requested by the customer. I had to drive 100 miles out of my way and wasted 2 hours of my moving time. The people in Westcliffe were great and I know it was not their fault. I just can't figure out with 4 drop off locations in Canon City, and 2 months notice for reservations,why I couldn't have picked up one there. I always thought the customer came first.Tommy W.

Got charged for 2 extra days on one truck and 1 day on the second truck. Both picked up at the same time. Got charged for fuel and they had more in the tank then the papers said. Very dissatisfied.Bruce W.
When I made the reservation for the trailer, the possibility that I would have to pick it up at a location an hour away from my 'preferred location' was not clear. WORSE, a UHaul representative failed to contact me to alert me to this change; and had I not checked my reservation online the day before (for reasons unrelated to the pick up location or equipment type) I would not have known about the change. This was aggravating, and unacceptable. It cost me time and money. Such service was especially unsatisfactory since the UHaul agent I initially inquired with about getting a trailer assured me that by making a reservation online, weeks in advance, I would be guaranteed the equipment I requested, and their location. As it turned out, the agent had the exact equipment I needed on site, but had reserved it locally for another customer. They were apologetic of UHaul's poor service, and tried to find a more acceptable solution, but UHaul as not accomodating.Steve K.

He did not help to unhook the trailer (Heavy RV trailer) - I had to do that myself. He ALSO charged my credit card but with only $280. His words were: "The pickup location only put a hold on my card that is why he is charging it." So, who is the crook in this whole thing - she charged $322 and he charged $280. Who should NOT have charged my card? I WILL NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN!!!Oswald Z.

For starters - we asked the gentleman in Westcliffe when he asked if we wanted the $42.00 insurance and the $82.00 insurance, what the difference between the two were and what each covered. We specifically wanted to make sure the windshield was covered. He responded "I ain't no lawyer and I am not going to say anything -that way I won't get in trouble". I tried to look at a clipboard on his desk with a chart that looked like it may explain the various parts of the Uhaul truck and he wasn't happy about that and reached to take it out of my hands. We choose the $42.00 insurance. If he doesn't know the answer to my question who at UHaul does. The truck inside & cab was dirty and he should have walked around the truck with us to go over previous damage, etc. This is the same place who told us in August we couldn't reserve a truck - it was first come, first serve. We get to Westcliffe and they have no trucks available. So when we decided to rent one in September, my husband called them ahead of time and again was told we could not reserve a truck. We heard from other people that they had reserved trucks in Westcliffe before so this time my husband pressed him with "how about I give you a credit card number", then he relented and somehow my husband was hooked up with a nice lady from Colorado Springs who was able to reserve a truck. I realize that Westcliffe needs a Uhaul center but the sheer laziness of this location's employees is unbelievable. When we returned the truck in Montrose, the nice lady answered my question about insurance coverage. We would have needed the $80.00 insurance coverage to cover rock chips and windshield. Luckily we did not encounter a rock on our trip or we would have been very upset at the man in Westcliffe for his ignorant response that he ain''t a lawyer. We were not asking for fine print information merely the basics of UHaul truck rental. Train your employees in Westcliffe please!Bill K.

Hello, My name is Arthur Winkelstern of CO tract number 25129249. My wife and I loved the UHaul and Auto Transport we picked up in Prescott. The staff were amazing there and helped every step of the way. Guiding our car, strapping it in, driving the truck to the trailer, they helped tremendously, especially us as 2 new movers. Upon arriving in Westcliffe, CO at the UHaul drop off, we were greeted promptly by a man running the store demanding for â€˜10$' for helping remove the straps from our car AND taking the auto transport back. I, of course, feel as though UHaul had that in the service, to remove their equipment, so I said â€˜no' to the offer and tried myself, to no avail. I then asked why the 10$ was needed and he replied that it was in the contract. I showed him the contract, and he refused to look at it to show me where it said that I owed him 10$ to remove the auto transport trailer from our truck, to take it back. He then yelled at me, demanded why I didn't know how to do it by watching the men in Prescott put it on, then just left. Walked away to talk to his friends. Spending 2 hours there, in this terrible predicament, after driving 18 hours to Westcliffe CO, we then found a secondary worker there who would take 5$ to do it for us. This is ridiculous and we feel cheated in every sense of the word. We trust UHaul and have used them hundreds of times, but after this experience, spending 600$+ on our transport, to be greeted by greedy workers, we will never use uhaul again. Worst experience ever. I will leave this review for others to see for our experience, as this was unfair and unresolved. I'm sorry, but we were loyal customers. What is the point of registering online? you don't have the right truck size, you replace one truck with two? I have to go through the whole rental process in the store. It took over an hour to check out a truck. Only 45 mins to return the truck. You'd think it would be figured out with a national rental system. I would rate this experience a 3 out of 10. Truck was fine, ran fine, worked great. The process was rough.Doug M.

The first representative blew me off as a customer when he realized I was there for a Uhaul and had already paid. The second gave me a nonchalant, non informative, reluctant experience. I was purposefully given a truck with a check engine light on that needed service. I was given a drop off location more than 20 minutes from my address and told it was the closest location when there was one much closer to me that I had to discover later on my own. I must admit I'm curious, why should I pay to risk breaking down in the middle of nowhere to help Uhaul get their broken vehicle to another location for service? Definitely made me regret having chosen them for my moving needs!Joshua B.
